Still no support - Sony Xperia E3

After five month, I think this is my mistake to buy E3, still we have no support from any devs. No proper root method also.
Mistake....!!!! Mistake.....!!!

Why mistake? IMHO this device is highly usable with stock for everyday tasks without root or custom rom for it.

Looks like you don't know what's going on.
Kernel development is fully WIP - https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/kernel/commits/aosp/AU_LINUX_ANDROID_LA.BF.2.1_RB1.05.00.00.173.012
Our AOSP isn't less usable than the Z3's, camera just isn't implemented for any of 2014 devices and bugs are more or less the same.
Be patient, and believe.

There's a rich boy here.

He is right there is no support.
Kernel development and aosp is for LTE varriant,s not for non LTE.
Non lte is not getting developed.

SGT 3 7 Inch - A realistic future or a dead born child?

Hey folks,
I got a SGT 3 7 Inch through a promotion offer, since I'm a student I got it for free. Yea, for free - no joke.
Reading about the device online made me feel like I should rather sell it unopened. The idea is to get a Nexus 7 instead. I love installing custom stuffs and by now there is no development of what kind ever here. Is there any chance that developers are gonna take care of the device? Or is it gonna remain one of those devices nobody needed and wanted?
Cheers
Daniel
You should read a little bit in the other threads. So far devs are still working on a custom recovery, they didn't get it to work so far. Without the recovery there is no possibilty to flash custom roms. Since the tablet is only about a month old, you might want to give it some time, or trade it like you said for the N7 right now. I'm playing with the same thought.
Did you get yours also from Postbank and Web.de?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I thought the same but I actually think this has some future, there have been an increase on devs working on it and everyone is wanting to help (for the same lack of development)... Just give some time and help with whatever you can , I'm dying to nexusize this thing

Root is alread available with UK stock rom. As from today it als boots into recovery, so lets keep the fingers
crossed that custom roms are available soon
I really wish we would get vanilla-ish Android on this sometime soon.. I have tab 3 7 rooted with UK rom but I'm NOT liking Sense's bloatyness... =(

there is a na pre rooted that im using now i was using the uk pre rooted when it came out almost a month ago now i have been running the NA version for about a week now.
The difference between the 2 is the uk firmware does not have the drivers for the ir blaster the na does...
Out of the 3 tab 3 that were released the only one that is doa is the 10.1 nobody seems to be working on the 10.1...
I will maybe buy a Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 but seeing that there are no many developers around here is a little discouraging.
Better to wait a little for the note 3. Then decide.

Hi guys
I own now 2 tablets.
1 samsung galaxy tab 3
1 nexus 7 (2012)
I musst say the nexus 7 is a lot better then the gt3.
It beginns with the time you power on the screen. N7= 0sec gt3 = up to 3 sec.
But ok .the devs are working the gt3 and i think they will not stop.why should they?
So when we wait a bit there will be roms or kernels that make the gt3 much faster so you can "use" it without problems.
This device will run better than ipad when we are finish..

sorry bad engl
Since yesterday, I own the sgt3 7.0 too. It was for free (Postbank&gmx). The original ROM is not so bad. But I needed Root (e.g. for Adblocking). Fortunately there is a first custom rom (infamoustab). And what should i say? 30 minutes of working and the tablet seems to be REALLY smooth.

Xperia L have an android 4.4 kit kat, but it's pure, and is part of the AOSP project of sony.
To install you need to unlock the bootloader ( and lose the warranty ).

As of now Sony hasn't said anything. Obviously we all hope we get Kit-Kat. I would expect some news after the Kit-Kat roll out for the Xperia Z series has started (mid-end February).

Agree!! But point is that our device launched in 2013?
And new xperia E1 going to launch this year with 512 mb ram.

We'll definitely not be getting KitKat Android 4.4, chances are dim. However, a 4.3 update is possible (not sure though).
Obviously we all would love to see the latest Android software for our phones, but till now.. *fingers crossed*
KitKat is still very new, most of the flagship devices are just getting it. Obviously midrange devices are less important, so even if we'll get a 4.4 update, it'll be months later from now.
And hopefully we'll get it, even if we have to wait for a while, a lot of other phones with Snapdragon 400 are getting 4.4, I don't think Sony will forget about us.
So,Possibility to get kitkat.

Well, we may or may not get the update..
It's purely in the hands of Sony
If they decide to give, they will.. If not, then they won't..
Fortunately, we are getting CM11 which is based on Android 4.4 and unfortunately its release is delayed week by week..

Its better not to ignite hope and desire in people when you can't fulful your own promises. I still remember 25th dec,2013 as cm11 promised .Just think for a second , only 7 days left to be delayed for 2 months release. And i know that it won't come soon maybe in March but thats not for sure.
And still bluetooth is not fixed
Maybe 4.3 update in March...

Never mind completely over ya head. Thanks I know you all where trying to be helpful. But I was talking about kk that Samsung sends to my device not a Canadian version. I have had this for a year and there is not one stable rom. I want the kk that belongs on the tablet. Like I said nexus next time. I guess the wifi American one will be the last one. Lol
I am happy to see kk geting close. And even happier to have a group of friends that are giving 200% time to provide us what Samsung/Intel should have.
Never the less It is true Samsung and [email protected]#$%Ing Intel garbage had screw us all by no releasing a full Open Source than can be use to create CianogenMod or aosp. To make it worst Googles and Samsung new policies while implementing new updates is geting to a untolerated limit!
I too think this is the last device I purchase without first waiting for others report. Samsung lost my thrust.
I can't really see your point. As you know, the stock roms are bloated, slow and sometimes more unstable than the modded ones. As for the release for Kit Kat - Samsung seems to not really care for it's older devices, seeing how many more tabs they produced. Kinda strange to go out with a new version with the product every next year. To be honest, I think they should at least expand the lifespan of these tablets, It's not like they are really cheap or something. As for the hardware part of things,I think you should know that the 10.1 version is actually really different compared to the other two Galaxy Tab 3s, thus either making the release process slower since there are newer models on which they focus more. We should all be thankful that there are ambitious developers here and I'd even like to thank all of them for their hard work. For now - you should stick and help for the development rather than just wait. I hope I don't sound insulting or anything. I think that any help (bug reports, etc) would be appreciated.

Oh bro I am also talking about that only . See, there are different regions of every tablet. You must not be living in Canada. This tab has got 4.4 kk but In canada & not In your country. So , you will not be able to download kk by going to software update . You will have to download it from sammobile & flash it manually via odin . Please ubderstand this. I and a lot of other people are running Kitkat .

And additionally it is a very easy process to install the Canada version with Odin.
I am from Germany, have installed the Rom and so far no problems.
But for my opinion not a lot of differences to the former Rom.

@jason504
i believe any version will contain the same language support set, also version specificity only comes into play
with respect to cellular/gsm variants. for wifi only models it really doesn't matter. else there are still "after market"
methods for sorting out issues.

When I got this tablet I thought Yes since I have been flashing roms on my phone for years here is something else I can flash roms on and have fun. Boy I was wrong I know they have a couple of stock roms but they ran worse than my stock rom. So I unrooted and said I will wait for Samsung to update my tablet to kk. I have been waiting and waiting it's just a big let down. But you live and learn my phone is faster than my tablet so basically all I use my tablet for is chrome cast. To be honest with you I don't even know if I will get another tablet for what. It's easier to just grab my phone. That's why I love big phones.
Just curious, I understand going back to stock, but why unroot? How can you stand all that bloatware?

I am unsure about specs but you might visit the Samsung Galaxy player 4.0 and 5.0 forums, they are at least same gen devices and I saw lollipop is built on it.

I think people should just run the latest that's available, or get a new phone. A Moto E is 3 times the phone the Infuse is, and can be had for $30 if you buy it at the right time. Plus it runs Lollipop out of the box. Methinks trying to run 5.0 on a 4 yr old device is near impossible.
