Hi people.
I've spend a couple days searching and trawling around google and various fora (including these ones) but can't seem to find exactly what I want... which is:
I want to be able to disable email, SMS and MMS notifications at night when I'm trying to sleep. However I still want to be able to hear the alarm I've set to wake me up in the morning...
I realise I could do this manually through the "sounds and Notifications" menu in WM6 "settings", but its a right pain in the arse.
I've tried the PhoneAlarm free trial, but it doesn't let you switch off specific notification types like e.g. just email and SMS, but not general alarms.
Anyone got any ideas or can suggest a program. I don't need lots of bells and whistles and other unnecessary control features - just a quick way to set the profile to a setting that turns off email and SMS notifications, but keeps on alarms - I'm even happy to press a button for this each night and don't mind if it doesn't automatically switch at my preferred time.
thanks in advance for any help guys.
ps. I'm running stock O2 WM6.0 UK ROM - I've never changed it... so please, please, please don't tell me I need to upgrade the ROM to 6.1 I'm way too busy and need my phone and pda working at all times to be dealing with flashing a new ROM and re-installing all my progs and entering email settings etc...
PhoneWeaver
I use a timed silent profile that switches back to normal before the first alarm of the day
hi
use spb phone suite for this, it allows you to switch. There are other programs that do this that may be free but i cannot for the life of me rememeber they were i somewhere on here i think... someone started a thread on it
and for alarm use g-alarm as its by far the best out there, if your not already using it that is
Just found this app and thought I would share. I wanted an app like BerryBuzz that I had on my old Blackberry (that is the only thing I missed about my blackberry This app works great. Don't give up right away when it doesn't work right off the bat. Took me some time to figure out what needed to be checked etc in different apps to get it working properly and without double or no notification. I had my gmail, sms, missed call, and google voice all flashing appropriate colors and sounds including the reminders!!! I love it! The dev is awesome and responds to emails. Give it a try, its worth the buck. There is also a free version.

It's not working with LG Optimus 2x ROM FR17.
Just purchased this app. Unfortunately I didn't read the forums before I purchased the app. LITE version would have been more than enough for me.
Right after installing I turned on LED notifications for all of my apps (skype, mail, twitter etc. etc.).
Didn't change any other settings. Just enabled LED notifications for my apps.
After 7 hours of sleep my battery went from 90% to 35%. And this is more than 60% down !!
- Has anybody experienced this?
- Should I enable just the most important notifications (like missed calls)?
- Could anybody provide a list of best settings and number of notifications to set?
- Maybe it's better to set to blink rather than always ON? Or maybe LED doesn't consume battery much at all?
So I love this app BTW, but there is one request I have for a potential upgrade, able to change the led light on incoming calls. as well as making the incoming alternate all colors really quick!!!
Galaxy Nexus
Viber does not adhere to the priority nor silent modes of Lollipop on my official z3 update. I know that this is a known issue which was also present in other apps such as Whatsapp in the beginning. But they have been fixed and I think it is high time for viber to fix theirs. I know there is a Viber rep roaming around so lets hope he sees it.
I have the latest version and have played around with the inbuilt notif controls but I cant seem to switch off vibration. Annoying too since its stupid 3 vibrations per single message.
In the meantime, i would like to know a few suggestions of apps that let me completely control app notifications. I know Lightflow is one such wonderful app. Are there any others that you might know?
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!
Hi all,
I know this topic has been bashed to death, I've read through this forum, other forums, many web sites, but have been unable to resolve the issues, I am not getting notifications on WhatsApp, my Ring Doorbell, and some other apps (Outlook is one of them).
It's a Mate 9 - MHA-AL00 - Build Number MHA-AL00C00B225 (the latest release I believe).
I have followed each and every suggestion, allowing notifications, raising the priority of the apps, making them trusted, adjusting power / battery settings (app auto-launch etc), allowing them to freely use Wifi or Mobile data as required, setting individual permissions to everything, basically giving them access to all and sundry, removing and re-installing and doing it all again, rebooting the phone etc, nothing has worked.
I saw some earlier threads acknowledging this as a known issue (due to the EMUI way of handling things), the advice was to wait for the next release, but that was in Jan/Feb, the next 2 releases have come and gone.
Have I missed anything?
Are there any EMUI settings that I have missed?
Is there another App I can install that can improve or fix this?
Thanks in advance, any assistance would be much appreciated.

Rebrand to Europe version and you'll get notifications working like they should.

Many thanks albertobom,
I am relatively new to Android phones, does that mean re-flashing the handset?
Does re-flashing the handset mean it's rooted? (I use some banking apps which won't work on a rooted handset).
Is it straightforward to do with a Windows 10 laptop?
Is special software needed?
Does it definitely fix the notifications issue?
Can I back up and restore the handset to save myself re-installing 50+ Apps?
Where would I find the Europe image?
Sorry for all the questions, I'll also do some research on the forum.
Cheers

Hello Peter,
I saw that I have a similar problem with my Mate 9 ( MHA-AL00C00B225 ) - push notificatons.
Do you solve this issue?
If your answ is affirmative, please tell me how can I solve it? (without rooting my phone)
Tks
Hi there,
Alas I didn't find a definitive solution, I am using a non ideal workaround. The behaviour is random, I guess as the EMUI is learning..?Notifications work fine on some apps and not great on others, then sometimes work ok on the apps they didn't used to work on, not always logical, but I suppose something is going in the background trying to process it.
Once you have done all the elevation of the app in terms of making it trusted, giving it all permissions, removing any power limitations etc, open apps have a padlock symbol (when you have the view that shows you all open apps), if you enable it on, it should keep them alive when the phone goes into a sleep / lower power state.
I kept on doing that with 2 or 3 critical apps (Whatsapp, Ring etc), and it seemed to learn I think...The padlock was on automatically at times and the apps stayed open and gave notifications.. Anyway, it's not ideal, I'm hoping the next release might fix it (maybe Android O?). Like you I wasn't comfortable in rooting the device, flashing etc, in case it stopped my banking apps working and didn't fix my probs, so I'm living with it at the moment.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

Good morning. Please, i deactivate all possible energy saving but some other thing must be persistent and the gmail notifications, the bank notifications and many other push notifications don't arrive. I gave all permission but there is not thing to do for me. I think this is impossible and perhaps i am wrong something. can anyone tell me step by step what permissions have i to do for be sure that all permissions are given?
when i unlock from standby and wake the screen the notifications appear all at once!!
i read many problems like this but i didn't find a solution.
can anyone help?
thanks

Same. No e-mail, Snapchat, Twitter etc notifications.
But on the other hand, messenger and instagram ones work just fine.
OneUI 1.1, Android 9, September update, Exynos. Xposed, Magisk
Could be the sleeping apps function turned on. If so the phone shuts apps down when they haven't been used in a while.
Data saver can also stop apps using data in the background even if they're still running.
I have both turned off and standby power drain is still minimal. WhatsApp is probably the worst consumer next to Gmail. Need both.
this problem is present in many and many samsung galaxy devices and i wonder why yet didn't solve it.... all the sleeping functions are deactivated and so for data saver and battery saver.... nothing to do, but random, not always
