Hi everyone.
I rooted my Note Pro 12.2 (wifi) a while back and installed a basic rooted ROM, not CW12.
I honestly don't remember which ROM I flashed. I believe it was just a stock de-bloated ROM, and if it's the one I think it is, in the thread it says that ROM was faulty and dev has stopped for it. I see the kernel version and build in the "about" section under settings but I'm not sure if that number would tell me which ROM it is, or just the ROM and kernal that it was built on top of.
I basically wanted a stock style ROM with the ability to change things as I wanted. I'm still noticing a TON of lag. Scrolling on pages, loading apps, screen lag between touch and actual input of characters when using on screen keyboard, etc etc. I've frozen a bunch of bloatware and other things and it helped a little, but it's still pretty bad.
Audio latency with recording and MIDI apps is very bad, but I know that's improved with lollipop.
Aside from lag, it seems that GPS won't lock on no matter how long Iet it look for a signal (hard to tell if it's the ROM, but my Note 4 has found GPS very easily). Also, my Note 4 (unrooted and stock at this point) is waaaaay smoother and faster than this tablet. I realize we're talking about lollipop vs kitkat, and that the Note 4 version I have is the snapdragon one. But it still seems like performance should be better on this tablet.
So I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a good ROM for me to flash until lollipop comes out for the wifi version of this tablet. I want the stock multi-window functions (4 at a time plus floating windows), so CW12 is not an option. I want to use some of the Samsung apps like s note and Hancom office. I use the s-pen from time to time with the pen apps like write-on-screen.
The "rooted" features I want to access are turning off the camera sound (adding the switch to the settings menu in the camera app, not just replacing the sound file with a dummy file) Changing PPI of apps (xposed module) and full access read/write on micro SD cards and really important is the ability to add any app to the multi-window apps list and force orientation. I've been able to do all this with xposed modules.
Other than that, stock would be fine if it wasn't so laggy. The main reason I want to try another ROM is the lag. On screen keyboard has a lot of lag, but even my Logitech k810 bluetooth keyboard is laggy.
I'm also currently travelling and don't have a PC with me. So I'm hoping I can flash the ROM without ODIN, or perhaps I can use one of the ODIN-for-android type things on my Note 4 to flash a ROM to the Note Pro 12.2. Also I have the stock recovey, and would like suggestions on which recovery to use instead. Again, no computer with me to flash a new recovery. Ido have an OTG cable and USB flash drive so Ican back up my files before flashing the new ROM, as well as a miscro SD card.
Any recommendations for a smooth, fast ROM? Any tips on flashing it without a PC? I know I can copy the ZIP to the tablet and flash it from recovery...but it is the stock recovery...is this going to be sufficient?
THANKS!
The hyperdrive rom by sbreen (in the dev section) works great. Isnt there an internet cafe in the vicinity? Ask them for assistance flashing the beast. I love twrp. Good luck!
I tried to find an easy root apk thingy so you dont need a computer, couldnt find anything (but maybe kinguser or something like it will work)

Thanks! TWRP is I think what's on my Note II back home. My tablet is rooted already of course. For the Hyperdrive ROM, one thing I'm a little confused about is if I have to FIRST install a stock ROM and THEN flash the custom ROM. I'm a little confused about why exactly but I see that in the forums from time to time. It's recommended for certain ROMs. I don't know if flashing the stock ROM updates some other firmware/hardware driver type stuff that's needed for the new kernal to work or what.
There might be an internet cafe. I'm flying from Vienna to Lithuania today. Trying to explain to them that I want them to download and install ODIN might be tough knowing only English and Spanish haha.
Sorry for the noob question but is clicking the thumbs-up icon what generates "thanks" or do I do that somewhere else?

If its rooted you can install twrp without computer (see my link) use twrp manager fromthe play store for that
You only have to flash the custom rom
(Make sure you backup on an ext sd or something, then delete everything in twrp, install custom rom, restart and done) I also always backup the launcher settings, if you backup the apps with titanium restoring is very easy afterwards)
Lemme know if this works for you!

I'm already having trouble installing TWRP. I can't do it from the app, as my device isn't listed. I downloaded the zip file of the correct version of TWRP and tried to flash it using the stock recovery. But when I boot into recovery mode, it still just goes to the stock recovery. Then I downloaded and installed ROM manager from the play store and it shows TWRP as being installed, but whenever I boot into recovery I just get the stock recovery.
I'm back home now and I guess I'll just try to do all this with ODIN.
Is there any reason I can't just install the custom ROM using the stock recovery? That's what I did last time.
Ok So I got TWRP installed via ODIN then I used it to clean wipe and flash Hyperdrive ROM but gmail app won't even open, just crashes immediately, and it's one of the main apps I need so...probably gonna look for another ROM...or most likely gonna flash the stock ROM, unroot and sell the tablet and get a Dell Venue 11 Pro. Might wait till the end of July though, the supposed release date for lollipop on this device.
Had the same problem. Install hyperdrive without the gmail app option. Afterwards install itmvia the play store.
And if you want lollipop give cyanogen a try. I love it (but its a personal thing).
Ad make sure to read the Venue reviews, they are not very positive.

I wanted to try lollipop because I use it for music, and latency is much better with lollipop. My Note 4 is running lollipop and I get way better performance from MIDI keyboards and guitar amp modelling. I really like the multi window functions on the stock and hyperdrive ROMs though, 4 at once, floating, etc. I'm sure as soon as lollipop is officially out for this device, someone will release a rooted version.
Thanks for the tip on gmail, fortunately I read it before getting too deep and just reflashed without gmail it and then installed the gmail app as you suggested and it does work. There still seems to be a bit of delay when using the on screen keyboard, not as fast as I had hoped. But it's up and running.
I was considering the Dell after trying a bunch of different audio and video editing apps for android and realizing that I just need full photoshop, premiere, and Reaper with all my VST plugins, so I need windows. Perhaps Surface Pro is a better choice but I like the Venue's chassis better, fanless, rounded corners. Also new tablets might be coming out with Windows 10 so another reason to wait...
My laptop is great but it's really big and I like a touch interface for on screen mixers and instruments. So I figured a tablet PC might work best for me. But the problem is GUI scaling. with the Windows legacy apps like Premiere and Photoshop, the buttons and menus don't scale, and on an 11" 1080 display they are quite small.
Just wait for win 10 and while waiting fine tune your 12" beast did you try system tuner pro already? You should be able to get less latency from that.
(And did someone mention "buy a Mac" already?
I am surprised, because after testing dozen ROMs I found stock ROM fastest one. Just root and debloat it.
Not so any lag or problems, but with custom ROMS I had a lot of problems.

Indeed, cyanogen requires a lot of tuning (but its what I like about Android, I am more tinkering with it than actually using it I believe

I checked out system tuner pro (didn't buy it yet just read the description) What exactly would I adjust to get lower audio latency? Just clock the CPU higher? OR does it have audio-specific settings not mentioned in the description?

Looks like Samsung official lollipop (I read that it has way better latency) is finally coming to your tablet.

WHAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?!?!!? I've been checking sammobile EVERY day for the lost couple weeks waiting for this! OMG OMG I'm hoping I'll be able to use the Samsung Audio stuff with this, their DAW and amplitube and all that...plus I'll get Hancom office back...Thanks for the heads-up. I'm glad I've been using CM12.1 though So I can compare the experience.
Looking forward to the rooted version of stock lollipop making its way to xda as well! Now... to figure out the best way to back up my current installation...
Hi guys,
My girlfriend purchased a brand new Xperia Z3 D6653 not too long ago (about 2 months ago?). I flashed the 5.1.1 pre-rooted firmware for her and it's working fine and all but it does a random reboot every day or so, at random times, with random applications.
I have tried 2 different pre-rooted 5.1.1 firmwares already (yes, the correct model D6653 as well) and it still does it. The System Incident reports don't really say much (in fact you only see details about when it crashed, nothing else), and it seems like Google Play Services is the only thing mentioned in the Application Report.
The same thing also happened (more frequently) when she was on the 5.0 pre-rooted firmware. I'm not sure why, I haven't unlocked the bootloader or anything, it's just stock pre-rooted ROM, that's it. I haven't flashed any other ROMs other than the official pre-rooted ones.
Furthermore, before I flashed the 5.0 and 5.1 firmware for her, the phone came with Android 4.4.4. She used it for a month and reported several crashes as well, so that's with the original factory firmware, unrooted, unmodified etc.
She doesn't run any dodgy or random apps, she's just a typical girl that use Facebook and texting, that's pretty much it. I've done a lot of research on this issue and it seems to be quite common, however there isn't really a solution to this. The same apps she currently use never caused any issues on her older phones.
Also in case anyone asks, the only reason I flashed the pre-rooted 5.1.1 firmware for her is because it makes it easier for me to manage her phone (with Teamviewer, you can remote into the phone as long as it's rooted). Also, I get to backup her phone and do tests etc, makes it easier for me.
Also, I'm not using any custom kernels or overclocking the CPU etc. Everything is just stock but rooted.
Could this be caused by a hardware fault in the phone? I'm not sure what else I can do and would appreciate some suggestions.
Nobody have this issue??
Well, how about you try to flash a full, clean, stock ROM, don't root it, don't install any unnecessary app and see where it goes? If the issue persists, try getting a logcat from the phone and we can take a look at it. If it works fine after returning to stock, there might be a problem with the ROM or some apps you are using.
If it really is Gapps that are causing all the trouble, go to APKMirror and download the latest apps available (Play Services, etc) and see where it goes.
As mentioned already, prior to flashing anything, my girlfriend was running a completely stock, factory version of the phone. It came with Android 4.4.
I could flash a completely stock 5.1 ROM but was hoping that someone would share their experiences or a potential solution to this, considering this is quite commonly asked. I would also like to avoid doing this if possible, because if I were to go back to rooting the device, I'd have to downgrade to v4.4 pre-rooted, then flash to 5.1 rooted with custom recovery. It's just a lot of work for a simple testing that could be answered by others if possible.
Anyway, she didn't have any apps installed other than Facebook and Whatsapp, that's it. I might test with GAPPS and see how it goes, but I thought I'd ask here in case someone knows it's definitely a hardware issue or something else.
i would definitely give a pure stock 5.1.1 a go. I used to get the random reboots on the previous versions but i no longer have such issue.. Make sure you do a clean wipe and do it a few times.
Hi all, it's been a while but I thought I'd post an update and share what I've found/learned so far....
Basically, I'm still getting the frequent random reboots. I've tried reflashing the ROM and also tested out the latest .232 pre-rooted stock ROM, still getting the same issue. I've noticed that other than Google Play Services, sometimes Gapps will crash as well. But most of the time, there's nothing reported in the system or application crash logs. I've tested with everything running as stock, no additional apps installed. I then decided to flash the Minimal GAPPS 5.1.x and that sort of made the phone a bit more stable, but still reboots randomly every now and then.
Later on, I decided to try a custom ROM that still works on a locked bootloader. I found this here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/d6603-23-1-1-28-t3102271
The chef has provided a .232 firmware for you to flash in recovery, as well as the ROM base for the D6603 model. Mine is a D6653, but luckily the chef has also provided a D6653 patch for you to flash as well. I've flashed the ROM like so:
1. Wipe everything except my external microSD in TWRP. So basically, wipe system, data, cache, dalvik, internal storage etc.
2. Install .232 firmware.
3. Install v10.5
4. Install v12.0
5. Install D6653 v5 patch
It boots up fine but after using it for a while, I still get the random reboots. What's interesting is that I've also tried without flashing the D6653 patch, which essentially means I'm running just the D6603 base ROM on my D6653. It works, but still crashes as well. I just found it quite surprising that a D6653 could run a D6603 ROM, but it does make sense considering the main differences is just the baseband/frequencies.
Anyway, I later on decided to flash the pure 5.1.1 stock ROM, still getting the crash. Again, everything is tested on pure stock, no additional apps etc installed.
I'm starting to think perhaps this is a hardware issue on my phone?? I noticed that sometimes, my screen will show a bit of tearing and then it'll crash not long after. BUT, I also know that as soon as gapps or google play services crash, the phone will crash not long after as well.....
In fact, I later on used Titanium Backup to convert Google Play Services from a System to a User app, the phone will just boot into the lockscreen and then restart every time. This is a bit ridiculous because I've done this several times on other phones before and they never had such an issue. Of course, I'm not saying I always run Google Play Services as a User app, but that was just for testing and I honestly don't think it should cause a bootloop just because of that. I've also cleared dalvik and cache by the way, so it doesn't make sense that the phone boots into the lockscreen and then just restarts randomly.
I haven't tried uninstalling Google Play Services completely, but at this point I'm back to square one as I've exhausted pretty much all my options and it's been a complete waste of time. I'm beginning to hate this phone more and more. The only thing left is to unlock bootloader and play with other custom ROMs. But yeah, flashing the .232 firmware didn't fix it, AND flashing pure stock 5.1.1 Android didn't fix it either...
Just wondering if others have the same issue and any ideas what could be causing it? If I provide some Logcat logs, would someone be kind enough to look into this for me?
Update:
I'm still getting the random reboots and I think it's very likely to be hardware related. But sometimes also a bit related to software, specifically with Google Play services. I've had more time to test out a few things since my last update, they are as follows:
- Tested complete stock 4.4 ROM without root. Still crashes every now and then, but not as much compared to 5.0 and 6.0 (doesn't matter if it's stock or custom ROM).
- Finally gave in and unlocked bootloader (backed up my DRM keys of course). I thought perhaps that the stock Sony roms (and even the stock-based Sony custom roms) have issues for some reason. They are all the same base, so I thought I'd do a fair test by trying a completely different based rom, such as AOSP. I've used CM 1.2.1 nightly here:
forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-nightlies-xperia-z3-t3010201/page117
And yes, I know that nightly have bugs, but the nightly build as of 2016-03-03 seemed pretty stable according to most users. I've tried various other AOSP based roms and stock based Sony roms (for unlocked bootloaders) and they all produce crashes.
I've flashed custom kernels as well and updated my recovery to TWRP 3.0, but all the same results. On all of the custom ROMs I've flashed, the only thing I've done was setup my Google account (so I have my contacts and Gmail) and that was it. No other apps installed. I wanted to limit the environment down to just the stock setup of the ROM itself, as this helps me rule out any potential bugs caused by 3rd party apps.
Having done all of the above and still resulting in crashes, it's safe to assume that this is most likely unrelated to the software, but hardware. I've noticed that sometimes when I scroll a page too fast and move it up and down with my thumb, the screen will freeze and restart.
However, sometimes I will get crashes related to Google Play Services. Anything that relies on Google Play Services will crash randomly. If you re-open the apps, it just crashes again. If you force stop the app and open it, still crashes. The ONLY fix is to restart the phone. I have tried flashing different GaPPs, starting with the pico and nano versions, as well as the ones recommended by the ROM chefs. Still the same result.
So the conclusion is, I haven't really gotten anywhere with this annoying issue. There's definitely an issue with the phone somewhere, maybe a bit of software related, but mostly hardware.
This is a modified version of @jrkruse stock BOK3 deodexed ROM with all(or most) of the stock BS removed.
This BS_free ROM does not have two different versions like his previous build. I left only the Samsung apps needed for UPSM and HD calling to work.
INSTRUCTIONS:
I've included the links needed if you want to use xposed and Viper4Android. If you chose not to use these features, then skip them in the flashing process.
I personally prefer using safestrap when clean flashing a ROM, but you can use flashfire if you must.
1) WIPE EVERYTHING!
2) Flash No_BS ROM
3) Flash Extra toggles
4) Flash No_Bootloader_Rooting_Tools_For_S5_Lollipop_V3.zip
5) Flash xposed-v75-sdk21-arm-arter97-snapdragon.zip
6) Flash Viper Policy
7) Flash Viper4Android
8) Flash BOK3 Firmware without bootloader
9) After first boot, open up Viper4Android and install the driver. Note: Sometimes it takes 2-3 times before the driver will install.
I have confirmed that @jrkruse 5-way reboot with Safestrap works on this ROM!!! If you want to use it, add it to the end of the flashing list. 5Way_Safestrap_Reboot_PM. As a side note, if you use 4-way reboot in Wanam Xposed, then that feature needs to be disabled for 5-way reboot to work.
The ROM should boot in about 8 minutes. The music app will force close everytime the device reboots, but it does work normally.
Forgive my lack of knowing how to make a build thread, since this is my first one, so I'm still learning lol.
NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED.zip
Update: NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED_V2 is now available. The flashing process is the same. I encountered an intermittent bug with SuperSU beta with some apps. I downgraded to the latest stable SuperSU with the latest app. I updated all other apps and got rid of the bright/ugly Verizon boot animation. The music app has not force closed since I started using this version.
Update: NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED_V3.zip is now available. The flashing process is the same. I updated busybox and removed SBrowser. I also implemented the signature verification fix by @jrkruse, along with default animation scales set to 0.5x.
Update: NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED_V4 is now available. The flashing process is the same. I updated all apps, except for YouTube(xposed purposes). I added the missing VPN apk as well. Let me know if there is any other issues with VPN related settings.
Update: NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED_V5 is now available. The flashing process is the same. I updated all apps. I added the headphone app notification, voicenote, and SPrintSpooler. I don't use voicenote or SPrint, so let me know if there are any issues with these apps.
Note: Don't pay attention to the 1- prefix in front of some of the ROM versions. I prefix all my flashables in my ROM folder with a 1-, 2-, 3-, ect, so that I have them all in order when I flash them instead of having to remember the order every time lol. I forgot to remove those prefixes when I uploaded the ROMs.
I am looking forward in seeing how this Rom is doing.

No, I mean using the V6 Root Tools instead of the V3 as indicated in your directions...
Also, I'm hoping that with a new install I will regain ability to work with Accessibility Options in Settings.
Idk if it makes a difference but I have Original GS5 Rooted, never taken OTA, always ONLY used XDA sources for ROM/Firmware/Kernels.

I wish you luck on the accessibility apps. I never use them, so I don't specifically look for them to work.

Hello all! Long time lurker and user of LOS 14.1 on my osprey. COM13 before that. I'm not a tech wizard like most of you, but I'd say I'm fairly good at navigating this stuff. Hope someone out there can help me out with MMS issues.
I'm on 14.1-20190220-Nightly with squid's kernel and my service provider is T-mobile. I can't pinpoint exactly when but at some point in the last month, I stopped receiving MMS messages. I can send them, but when I try to receive, I get the "check your APN settings" message. APN settings have not changed and I have confirmed they are correct. I've wiped the cache partition and that did nothing. I don't know what else to try.
A possible related issue: sometimes SMS doesn't come through either until I turn off WiFi, or reboot. This is a difficult thing to reproduce, it seems intermittent.
Any direction or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

http://www.droidthunder.com/android-9-0-pie-on-moto-g3/
and I think it's compatible with your phone if.....
This Android 9.0 Pie based Lineage OS 16 ROM is compatible only with Motorola Moto G3 (Moto G 2015) with model numbers XT1540, XT1541, XT1542, XT1543, XT1544, XT1548 and XT1550. So do not try to flash this unofficial custom ROM on any other phone as it may cause permanent damage or even brick your phone. So its always better to confirm your device before moving ahead.
I made and kept a Nandroid backup of the Stock rom on my Laptop just in case.I now keep a Nandroid backup the PIE install with all my apps installed and the phone setup on my Laptop as well.
So many great features in PIE.I've even been able to swap my Return and Recent apps buttons from Left-to-Right as I'm right handed and hated having the Return button on the left
Tip:
If you do install any Custom rom wait for it's first boot to normal screen(Usually takes quite a while) then reboot to Recovery and do a Factory reset before you set up the phone.I've done this with every Custom rom I've installed on Android phones and it seems to prevent many problems.
I think some people also do a Factory reset before installing Custom roms as well.I can't remember if I did but most likely did .

Interesting. Have you tested MMS and Bluetooth? If those are working, I might just do this.
Thanks for the tips, I keep full nandroid backups too, just in case. I hadn't heard about performing the factory resets during the process but I will do that this time. Is the sequence: factory reset, then boot the ROM, then reboot back into TWRP, then wipe and flash as normal, then boot into new ROM, then reboot into TWRP, factory reset, then finally boot the ROM and setup as normal?
It seems strange that droidthunder instructs you to copy the zip file to internal memory, then wipe the internal memory and then try to flash the zip. Doesn't seem like that would work. Why not just copy the zip to the SD card and flash from there?
Cheers!
I think I just copied mine to the SD card.
I don't use MMS much as WhatsApp etc is way better and normal phone calls/Networks are getting old now but I've just tested MMS and working fine.
I don't use Bluetooth much but it works between my Moto G3 and my DooGee Chinaphone running Android Mokee custom rom.
PIE rocks!!!!!!!
Better battery management.Super slick and as said great features.I don't use the new Gesture system as I've always used,"Holo Launcher" instead of stock launchers and use it's Gesture options but PIE has loads of features but they have been moved around a bit just a bit of a new learning curve but nothing too hard.

Cool! Thanks for the feedback! I'll assume I have the factory reset sequence correct. I dig Holo Launcher too. Been using it for many years now

One word of warning. If you do a Factory reset after installing the Custom Rom it unroots the phone but I wanted that as one of my Banking apps won't run on a Rooted phone.I could just leave it rooted and use the Banking web page but the apps are more convenient

Ah yes, good point. I do like some rooted apps like Titanium and Greenify. :good:

You don't need Titanium as TWRP Nandroid backup saves everything on the internal memory and everything else I want to keep is on the cloud or copied via USB to my PC/Latop.
As for Greenify those kind of apps are useless. You don't need battery savers in Android and even less since Marshamallow.PIE has awesome Battery management and even learns your usage.
FYI. I tried so many different things and nothing worked. Factory reset, no. Clean wipe and reflashed 14.1, no. Called service provider and they refreshed my connection, no. Then I installed squid2's 15.1 beta and it is working very well. Solved a lot of different annoying issues I was having. Hope it keeps working!!

Glad you found something that works
So far, so good. Loving this ROM. It is as close to perfectly functional as any I have ever tried.

I feel the same about the PIE rom on my G3.It makes the old phone feel like a Brand new one

4.2 has been release
"Introduce our OTA Updater!"
For those with the Chrome issue of freezing I have a fix that another user in another ROM thread accidentally found!
If you download
PH1-OTA-PQ1A.190105.090.zip
and then reboot into recovery (TWRP, be sure to disable pin on phone before hand and backup everything) then flash the above (I wiped everything first but DON'T wipe internal storage) then I did a second wipe of everything but internal storage and then I flashed 4.2 of StatiXOS and then I flashed TWRP, then I rebooted phone and set it up from new and restored everything from Cloud backup and I can confirm that I no longer have the Chrome freezing issue.
You can thank seungbaekm over in the Evolution-X 5.4 thread for this fix as he is the one that accidentally flashed the older PH-1 factory image and discovered Chrome then worked again! This should fix the issue for all the new Android 11 ROM 's out there for us folks that have the Chrome browser locking issues.
I did not even test the new 4.2 ROM on its own to see if it happens to fix the Chrome issue but I doubt that it does since it is not mentioned in the release notes. Also I have no idea if any of the other original factory images will also fix the issue, I only downloaded the one they he said he accidentally flashed and used it.
Hope this helps everyone with this issue as I know how frustrating it has been. Sure, there is the Bromite/Brave/Firefox work around, and I have been using and enjoying Bromite since 4.1 but I like having things working the way they are supposed to work.
Thanks you very much
I will test
Following this great insight about the fix of the Chromium issue, I only flashed mata PQ1A.190105.090 NOVENDOR firmware from this old thread, without wiping anything of my current StatiXOS 4.2 installation, and after booting Brave is working perfectly.
So, it seems the issue was caused not by the ROM system or vendor, but the mata QQ1A.200105.007 firmware.
As a consequence of flashing this old no system nor vendor firmware, my device baseband was downgraded, but mobile data seems to be working just fine. I guess it's possible to test newer firmware available at the referenced thread, like PQ1A.190105.112, QP1A.190711.107 or QP1A.190711.148, to identify the latest firmware free of the Chromium issue.
More good news: now Netflix is working fine, also.
UPDATE: I tried all the these firmwares and Netflix worked fine only with the Pie ones. So, PQ1A.190105.112 is the more recent mata firmware that I can use on my PH-1 with StatiXOS 4.2 in order to keep Chromium browsers and Netflix working.

This is some great news, thank you and SirDigitalKnight for the research! I haven't tried this fix yet, but I'm planning to when I flash this week if I do run into the chrome freeze problem. You mentioned this downgrades the device baseband version. I'm not too familiar with that, you did say it's working fine so far, but do you think that could cause issues in the future?
Just a question, does StatiXOS have slim recents included?

I have no idea if using a.Pie firmware could have side effects in the future. So far, I haven't seen any.
Using the StatiXOS Telegram support group, I shared the information about the different firmwares to the devs, so I think they'll tell us if something can go wrong in the future.
Is anyone else having issues with sending a text message with this rom?

Double Post
Just reporting that I did a clean install - "Fastboot -w" on the latest working firmware (JAN20 FW, FEB20 Vendor iirc) and I'm very impressed.
Plus replaced the screen, battery, and buttons cable and now the phone is "essentially" new. Parts are actually quite cheap.
Chrome is working without issues.
360 Camera is working without issues
Haven't tried sending SMS with VoLTE On yet.
Amazing that we still a maintainer.

Yup, that worked. Thanks mate..
The March 10th update they pushed out through the OTA updater worked perfectly. It is nice to see we still have good support on this great phone.

Thank you for this! And also thanks to @aamadorj for the further investigation!
It's too much of a hassle for me to do this fix right now, and I admit I have adapted to using Bromite and Firefox, but I'll definitely keep this in mind for some other time when I feel more like it... BTW, I did check, and Chrome stil freezes on the latest 4.2 update, no surprise here.
This ROM has been working great for me, very stable, no issues, and the updates are a breeze, especially with the latest OTA updater.

You should be able to flash the older Pie firmware without wiping from what I have read but I have not tried that yet. I might try it with the very latest firmware of Pie, PQ1A.190105.112 and see if it screws anything up without wiping the phone. Anyway I always to a backup of the phone to the cloud and also of Whatsapp before I start messing around just in case I have to wipe and so far all my restores have worked perfectly, but yes it is a pain to have to setup wifi's and add back in BT devices and setup security and any double authentication apps you use. Getting used to it now though.

Flashing the contents of the attached files using fastboot should make your device to use last firmware for Android Pie, without losing your current ROM installation.

OK, here is my update... Noting your comment in the other post about the downgraded baseband, I decided to exclude the modem from flashing. Flashed everything else from PQ1A.190105.112-NOVENDOR via fastboot, rebooted, and... Chrome froze again. Ugh... :\ OK. I went back to fastboot and flashed the modem - this time after the reboot the problem was fixed.
So, I'd say it's safe to conclude that the modem (baseband) is the actual component that was screwing up the Chromium-based browsers. Go figure...
This ROM is great on the PH-1. At the moment I can't get the LED to blink when notifications arrive. The setting is toggled on.
I've installed magisk, nanodroid and microg (not tried that sort of thing before!). Could that have anything to do with it?

Even with stock rom LED is not blink if you're using stock messages, try Textra and see if it works for you.
