New Firmware - R380XXU0BOA2 - Samsung Gear 2

Same 2.2.1.2 and Spain only at the moment, just downloading and not expecting anything new, also got updates (bug fixes) for Gear Manager today.

Any difference??

No difference whatsoever was expecting some UI overhaul do to the Apple Watch but as always Samsung ditch product support after barely a year.
Annoying as the Gear has so much potential.
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app

Agreed.. I hope they had some fixes as this watch as lots of potential.

I took the update because it was bugging me, can I revert to root abd flash tizen mod

Hopeless Samsung the Gear is a great product but without apps and updates it is dead, Apple have taken 50% of the wearable market straight away and already have support for apps.
Sent from my SM-T700 using XDA Free mobile app

Yep totally agree ! Samsung should put more attention to Gear 2 ! Apple will eat them !
Anyway is it possible to get back to TizeMod 3.0 ? I lost root mode.

I personally think the SIII + Android wallops any phone running windows. If you're pissed at yourself and want to teach yourself a lesson, then yeah make the trade.
If you like the windows phone launcher just get launcher 8. It's free and then you have the ability to get the best of both world. Android is great because you can transform it to look like anything. Also if you want the windows notifications there are apps for that to. That is why android is great you can mix and match to make it look like anything. You could even make it look like an iphone with espier launcher (personally wouldn't do that).
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I just feel that with all the live tiles on wp8 that it would consume battery like no other. And personally I think they look more boring than iOS.
*lol at the fact that I just installed launcher 8 and slightly like the new look!

If you don't use many apps, don't like to install ROMs, and don't like having hundreds of customization options then do the trade.

IF your plan is to sell the phones, but get them to throw in 50-75 when you show how far superior the s3 is. Just because the 8x is newer it's average selling price on eBay is higher

No, I wouldnt. I would get bored of the UI really quick and not being able to customize it much
I'd give it a shot. If nothing else you'll reinforce your decision one way or another.
I got the HTC Trophy Windows Phone and was quite happy with it. At the time it was very refreshing to have a phone that was always responsive and never needed a reboot....it just worked. I was also glad to have free time in the evenings again by not tweaking/reflashing my phone all the time. There were very few apps that I couldn't find alternatives for with Windowws phone....don't let anyone talk about quantity of appa like 125k apps aren't enough...another refreshing experience was the uniformed-ness of the apps...and the general clean looks.
There are a lot of things Microsoft did right, but in the end there were too many limitations compared to what android offered (actual file management for non music, video, or picture files).
I'd keep an eye on Windows Phone as really some of those limitations were due to MS playing catch up and not having enough time to implement them. They will fill out those features soon enough.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
No for the sole reason of a pathetic number of apps (good apps...not random apps. ex: still no pandora app). Is verizon giving you this as a replacement or are you selling it? If its a replacement, no way...new gs3 for a refurb windows phone..thats a no for me.
Stop with the lack of apps bit. Sure there may not be an official Pandora app, but there were at least 2 apps that used the Pandora api and worked just as good as Pandora....let alone the html5 Pandora webpage worked fine...including you still being able to use the universal music controls on the lock screen. The unofficial app was actually better because it never played an ad....though it might have changed in the last couple of months.
Now to back track a bit as I got carried away with supporting Windows Phone to realize what you were really asking.....with the support Samsung has behind the S3 and the hardware features I don't think you'd really be gaining anything by switching....in fact I will admit that you'll probably lose features by switching. If you had an older Android phone then sure, but an S3 is too capable and stable to be replaced by anything just yet...except maybe a Note 2....

Smartwatch 3?!

Hello, I saw this and I think that Sony are making a new smartwatch and it could be announced at the CES.

And the worst thing is that I just recently bought SW2

yeah, read it on talkandroid, wonder if it's really a watch or something completely different
Some are guessing it could be a fitness device to compete with fit bit and Nike fuel bands
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I really hope it will be some kind of Nike Fuel band or a bracelet with a small LCD screen to show notifications with icons... I'm saying this because i've bought a SW2 for christmas so I hope that Sony will stick up with this for updates in the next months. And IMHO Sony Mobile should advertise a lot more its products.
I just got mine a month ago but I'd like to see a new one with a speaker/mic for calls and texts via google now, that would be the perfect one to me
I am hoping that the next watch to have Google now, and a better higher res screen and possible running android as than It would be fast as at the moment it sometimes takes 5 seconds to open an app

Well, given the several iterations higher model number, the new watch could be their Galaxy Gear competitor with a price tag to match, ie their flagship/highend watch, and the SW2 will be their mid-line watch.

Now that CES is right around the corner with the expectations of new smartwatches being announced by Archos.,Cockoo, Samsung (Gear 2) etc,. SONY might just announce the SW3. After all they would not want to be behind the competition. Now they also have a pretty good idea about how Samsung perceives a smartwatch. But what SONY should do is improve upon the software rather than coming up for a new device.
Which is sad for me as I recently purchased mine (about a month ago) like many of you.
But lets see what CES brings us. I am actually quite curious about the Archos offering as it is expected to be a low cost (even lower than Pebble) smartwatch.
Pebble Steel looks nice, but only at a discounted price.

Nearly all bugs have been fixed, but the multi touch is still iffy, it is 100% software ... Not hardware related because with a reboot it back to normal

The only issue is they may not honor the warranty if something does go wrong with the hardware in the future since you are not the original purchaser, although I don't know what their policy is, it is worth looking into.
Coming from a Nexus 4, this phone is a huge upgrade. I actually came from a Nexus 5 and I love this phone so much, it is nicer in every way, so I think you will love this device.
I would just get an invite and purchase thru the company though, will come to $364 or so shipped, which means cheaper and brand new.
At this point in the game, there is no reason for you to pay MORE than retail.

I have zero of any of these issues and have had the phone for a few months. Yellow banding is overblown and I don't think any of the new build models have them (mine never did). Ghost touches and signal issues? I've not had those one time.
EVERY phone will have some complaints, even... wait for it... the iPhone!
I bought the phone, and sent 2 invites to friends who bought the phone, and no complaints at all. I don't run stock though either, currently I use Carbon ROM nightlies and could not be happier.

Is Verizon ever going to update

Perfectly good phone. Still no lollipop for it yet. Look of things. This project just fell right off the table. Like the Verizon 12.2 pro tablet.. My day with Samsung products about to come to end.. HTC was the best device I ever owned. Nexus are made way to cheap and over priced.
I'm starting to feel the same way about this note edge.... But I disagree with the nexus stuff, ever since before the nexus 6 they were very inexpensive. Back when I was strictly HTC, they sucked at releasing updates.
I am disappointed with Verizon.. other Note Edge owners on other networks have received lollipop.

Just spoke with a rep from Samsung
I called again to complain to Verizon about the lack of updates to the Noted Edge. She called Samsung as if to push the blame off on them as to why the release is not available. The Rep said that it was Verizon that hasn't set a release date. She informed me that if I take my phone to a Best Buy and have someone from their Samsung experience update it for me. She said they have a tool to force the update. Is this true? has anyone done this? Or is she full of it?
I'd also like to know if this is true? If so, I'll be there later today doing it.

Just watched (pun?) the announcement. Looks pretty cool. I have never had a smart watch. I would like to get the 3g version but I don't like the fact I will have 2 phone numbers. Is there any fix to this? Can we just keep the same number as our phone?

The Gear S can be used by itself with its own number. When used with a Samsung phone everything is pushed from the phone to the watch. Calls are forwarded to the watch when the Bluetooth connection is lost. It depends how you want to set up the dwvice. Some use it without the Sim and just a Bluetooth connection.

If you set the phone up to forward calls in the gear app and the watch has its own sim. That way if you forgot your phone at home and you have your watch on ,the phone will forward all notifications and calls to the watch. You can answer all calls on the watch with its own speakerphone (not optimal ) or connect a Bluetooth headset to the watch or even to your car radio. It's pretty slick even on the old gears s. Looking forward to the s2. It really is a better setup than wear to me.
