Hahaha, tbh I just think that smart watches aint very practical at the minute. Having to contsantly charge is probanly the biggest factor for me. But saying that with Quick Charging and Wireless chargeing maybe wont be long where it wont be too much of a hassle but still a pain if you ask me.

Gear S was brilliant design. Lets see, how this one goes, I might be buying one.

Definitely looking forward to it. I love my Gear S.

Yes. I am excited

Looking to replace my Gear 2 neo with the Gear S2(non 3G version), but only if it's not above $300 in price.

Just watched (pun?) the announcement. Looks pretty cool. I have never had a smart watch. I would like to get the 3g version but I don't like the fact I will have 2 phone numbers. Is there any fix to this? Can we just keep the same number as our phone?
I am also a little disappointed that there is no MST on the watch. Just NFC. Although being on Verizon, it may not matter.
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app

Also very excited after watching. However i still have some questions. Does it have gps or not. They mentioned apps like nike+ and it can locate your car, but it needs gps for that right? But i dont see gps mentioned in the spec lists.... And second, will the s2 3g version come to europe as well? I live in the benelux and i currently have the gear s and i hope to buy the 3g version.
Sent from my SGP512 using XDA Premium HD app

Their website says only the 3g version will have GPS

With the gear S do you have to have a different phone number? If so, any way around that? I don't want to have 2 phone numbers. Thanks.
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app

The Gear S can be used by itself with its own number. When used with a Samsung phone everything is pushed from the phone to the watch. Calls are forwarded to the watch when the Bluetooth connection is lost. It depends how you want to set up the dwvice. Some use it without the Sim and just a Bluetooth connection.

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify, calls and messages will automatically be pushed to the phone with no BT? If you respond off BT will it show a different number?
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app

If you set the phone up to forward calls in the gear app and the watch has its own sim. That way if you forgot your phone at home and you have your watch on ,the phone will forward all notifications and calls to the watch. You can answer all calls on the watch with its own speakerphone (not optimal ) or connect a Bluetooth headset to the watch or even to your car radio. It's pretty slick even on the old gears s. Looking forward to the s2. It really is a better setup than wear to me.

Again, thanks for the info. Sorry for all the ?'s. Just trying to understand how it works. If someone sends you a text when not connected to your phone and you reply, will it show up with a different number?
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app

It will show up with the phone number. Only if you decide to use the watch with its own sim alone would it send with the watch number.

Found this while playing around on my Galaxy S4, Found out that it does not matter which phone you have.

I have mixed result, half and half. Some people get it others don't .also it don't matter what service or phone you have as others have had different results. I have the galaxy S4 on T-Mobile . Some say they don't get it while having the same set up as me.
Works on any Android phone, image varies per version. You just need to tap Android Version numerous times. (5-7).
Edit: Ah, the second half of the Video wouldn't load. Now it does. No, that I have not seen before.

I think its just a T-mobile service but the thing is that people on T-mobile outside of New York don't get this. Funny I think it only works if you have a T-Mobile phone in New York. I Also did it on a Galaxy S2 from T-Mobile running on Simple Mobile Plan.

Smartwatch 3?!

Hello, I saw this and I think that Sony are making a new smartwatch and it could be announced at the CES.
http://www.engadget.com/2013/12/24/sony-wrist-notifier-bt-fcc/?ncid=rss_truncated
And the worst thing is that I just recently bought SW2
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
yeah, read it on talkandroid, wonder if it's really a watch or something completely different
Some are guessing it could be a fitness device to compete with fit bit and Nike fuel bands
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I really hope it will be some kind of Nike Fuel band or a bracelet with a small LCD screen to show notifications with icons... I'm saying this because i've bought a SW2 for christmas so I hope that Sony will stick up with this for updates in the next months. And IMHO Sony Mobile should advertise a lot more its products.
I just got mine a month ago but I'd like to see a new one with a speaker/mic for calls and texts via google now, that would be the perfect one to me
I am hoping that the next watch to have Google now, and a better higher res screen and possible running android as than It would be fast as at the moment it sometimes takes 5 seconds to open an app

Well, given the several iterations higher model number, the new watch could be their Galaxy Gear competitor with a price tag to match, ie their flagship/highend watch, and the SW2 will be their mid-line watch.
I hope too will be a Nike fuel thing. Not because I have bought the sw2 but I need a freaking pedometer that just works and can show phone notifications.

Now that CES is right around the corner with the expectations of new smartwatches being announced by Archos.,Cockoo, Samsung (Gear 2) etc,. SONY might just announce the SW3. After all they would not want to be behind the competition. Now they also have a pretty good idea about how Samsung perceives a smartwatch. But what SONY should do is improve upon the software rather than coming up for a new device.
Which is sad for me as I recently purchased mine (about a month ago) like many of you.
But lets see what CES brings us. I am actually quite curious about the Archos offering as it is expected to be a low cost (even lower than Pebble) smartwatch.
Pebble Steel looks nice, but only at a discounted price.

I wonder what SONY is planning to do with many new smartwatches being announced. They should respond either with a new product or a stellar firmware upgrade to SW2. Otherwise competition is getting tougher each day.

Meta from metawatch seems pretty good looks wise. A week battery life is a plus too. I don't really care for a color display. If the software side is good and the price isn't ridiculous, I would seriously consider it.

Simultaneous voice and data on 3g?

I know the s3 had it but it went away with the s4. I wonder if the s5 will have it. I know you can get simultaneous voice and data over LTE, but can it be done on 3g?

You will not be able to talk and surf over 3G or 4G LTE.
The GS5 is a Sprint Spark phone and only has one transmission path and therefore can only either connect to LTE or CDMA never both. Sorry, but it does help for battery life.

I would imagine until we have voice over LTE that won't come back on spark devices.
Is VoLTE coming with HD voice this summer or does that just step up what it's currently using?
I'm on my phone a lot in the car and while using navigation and streaming music. So if I ever need to re-route or want to change to a playlist I don't have stored, it kind of sucks.

This is the most backwards idea ever. I noticed in the first 5 mins of buying my phone. Highly upset about this! Not that I talk on the phone and use data at the same time a lot, but I would like to have the choice. Something that was not talked about in the weeks after the unveiling of the S5.

Most of us have unlimited data on sprint. Google voice integrates well with sprint. So an option would be to set up google voice, and then use a third party app such as phone for google voice. I don't have s5 yet, so can't try it. still on s3.
if anyone wants to try it, then you can report back on how well it works. I have used it overseases using a 3g connection with mixed results. Sometimes worked well, sometimes not.
Hmm with sprint I can't surf the Web at all no data when on a call I understand 3g no data but I was told on spark or lte I can is this true?

I have not found anything on youtube that shows speaker phone capability. I thought I had read some where that it has a speaker for music but no speaker phone. Had to be paired with a blue-tooth headset to respond to calls. So, it does have speaker phone capabilities? Or it just has a speaker? BTW thanks for the response.

Can anyone confirm?

Are the LTE models are thicker (Due to SIM and Speaker) than the Bluetooth models like they were for the Gear S2 last year? I know the Gear S3 has a speaker regardless this time, But not sure if the built in LTE capabilities added any bulk.
I have my AT&T S3 coming tomorrow by FedEx, sight unseen this time, because I wasn't able to locate a demo anywhere.
