thank you for all...

Google PRFCreator and create your own prerooted flashable zip for the latest firmware.
It will contain recovery as well.

Well if you definitely want to keep root I suggest doing it that way. It takes about 7 minutes to create the flashable zip (All automated, it is very easy) and about 30 seconds to flash it....

System Update After Root (Lock Bootloader)

Hello Guys.. since I'm a nexus 4 user before...not familiar with this new phone want to ask if using Giefroot and successfully root my phone Can I still do a system update specially when lollipop comes..without any issues? my rooting purpose: just want to install root apps like titanium back up to uninstall bloatwares, greenify without xposed installer...
You will be notified by update center when Lollipop update is available even if your device is rooted or not, but not sure about if you will be able to install the system update or not.
I had seen some rooted devices could download the OTA but failed to install the update.
But there's nothing to worry since you can always flash the ftf file via flashtool, without wiping any of your data..

Yes, someone will make and upload an FTF.
In an extreme circumstance it may need Flashtool to be updated, but Androxyde will do that and push another version.
In the meantime, you can always relock your bootloader and use PCComapnion to update officially, then unlock the boot again
You can also use Xperiafirm to dowload the ftf files.

Doesn't the root process require downgrading though? So it'd make updating through PCCompanion redundant.

Not really, if you have an unlocked bootloader you can relock, upgrade, unlock, flash an insecure kernel**, flash SuperSU and you are done. no need to downgrade, that's a locked bootloader method.
**Someone will upload an advanced stock kernel within minutes of it hitting our devices, its not much of a tweak to make it insecure
(Just changing a 1 to a 0 in the right place)
Hell, they may even throw in recovery in a couple of minutes as well....
Yes but I was replying in the context of the OP who said 'using giefroot' so I assume it's the locked bootloader method he is asking about.

[Q] Stock based ROM?

Hey Guys,
Im thinking about buying the Z3 for my girlfriend, but wanted to know something...
Do you guys have stock based ROMS for Z3? Or the Ui is fluid enough that is not needed? (Don't wanna loose camera quality by going AOSP)
Thanks!

The stock is so good, that we don' t need stock based or custom ROM' s.
Ok, I will check and if needed will install one of those.
Btw is it easy to root international version of Z3?
Thanks!

Be aware that directly rootable (by running exploit) are just certain KitKat ROM version, Lollipop is not directly rootable. Unless somebody provides already pre-rooted Stock ROM that you can flash using Flashtool, you would need to have rooted KitKat with recovery installed in order to flash pre-rooted Lollipop. The clean way on D6603 (similarly on other Z3`s too) is:
1. Backup whatever data you need
2. Download and flash version x.x.x.x.93 firmware (KitKat) with full wipe from Flashtool (Androxyde)
3. Boot, enable USB debug/mock locations/unknown sources
4. Run giefroot exploit
5. Install XZDualRecovery (installer) for locked bootloaders
6. Download PRFCreator
7. Download Lollipop stock ROM using XperiFirm (or other resource), SuperSU flashable and XZDualRecovery flashable
8. Create FTF from StockROM files
9. Create pre-rooted firmware using PRFC (include just system, nothing else), SuperSU and XZDualRecovery
10. Boot into recovery, wipe everything
11. Flash flashable created with PRFC
12. POWER OFF - do not reboot, disconnect phone from PC if connected
13. Start Flashtool, select Flash - Flashmode, select FTF you created, EXCLUDE system and tick NO FINAL VERIFICATION
14. Hit OK and when requested, hold VOLUME DOWN button while inserting USB
15. Reboot and enjoy

Hey again men!
So, my girlfriend just got her Z3 and I'm trying to root her phone, using this tutorial, but after I installed the Flashtool and run it (both the normal and the Flashtool64), it says:
"Please move C:\Flashtool\firmware content to C:\Users\ana\.flashTool\firmwares
I already done it, but there are 3 folders in the place they are asking me to move under firmwares: 1) Downloads 2) prepared 3) sinExtracted...
Where should I put it, or more exactly, what I must do to make the Flashtool work?
Couldn't find the solution anywhere..
Thanks in advance! :good:
delete the c:\flashtool\firmwares folder

So just to be clear for this beginner - will the above steps work for rooted z3 with locked bootloader running kitkat 4.4.4? Will I end up with rooted lollipop? And since I am already rooted and have dual recovery installed can I start at step 6? Or even at step 8? Thanks...

[?] Flash 23.1.A.1.28 OTA on rooted Z3 ? [SOLVED]

Hi all,
I have a rooted Z3 with dual recovery and locked bootloader running firmware 23.1.A.0.690.
Since the OTA to firmware 23.1.A.1.28 is minor, I was wondering if it is possible to flash an update zip file while keeping root and modified recovery.
any idea ?
thanks

Modified bootloader? Do you mean unlocked? If so then you cannot do OTA, is says so explicitly on the Sony site about unlocked bootloaders. But you can make a backup in recovery, flash a stock FTF of that version (System only) then just flash back your custom kernel (Before booting the phone) and restore data from a backup
If you mean locked bootloader then you can OTA, if its a small update then the chances are it wont format system so you will keep root, but if its a large file the chances are it will format system then re-install it so you will lose root.
Just flash a pre-rooted version of the updated ROM in recovery
Sorry, i meant keeping root and modified recovery (not bootloader).
My bootloader is locked indeed and i am on stock kernel.
So, to your point, i should be safe upgrading minor OTAs?
If so can I anticipate sony's rollout of the OTA and flash the update zip? And where can it be found?
Thx

Maybe.... it all depends on whether or not the OTA formats system and reinstalls it. If it a minor update they may not do that so root and recovery (Which is in system for locked bootloaders) are not deleted.
Its a gamble...
to be 100% safe, you will need to get a prerooted flashable zip and flash it
Hmmm... Ok, but upgrading with a prerooted zip involves flashing a full rom not just the update right?
I am ok with that but would rather save the hassle.
Thanks for the advise
Hi,
Happy to report back that OTA process went smooth.
I am now running 23.1.A.1.28 and still have full root & dual recovery!

Yes that's right. I fixed the typo in my last post.

How do you do it? I mean, you were stock .690 berofe ota?you delete anything of stocks apps??because i test to do the ota update but at the end of processus it's says "verrification impossible" and i saw somewhere that's if we touch or delete stock apps we can't ota ....ans if possible, nobody van do a flashable ZIP with just ota update????
I was stock indeed, and you are right playing with system apps probably prevent OTAs.
That's why I deactivate system apps rather then delete them.
I guess you will have to do a full rom flash.
I'm on stock ROM rooted. Updated to. 28 via OTA just only. Root access still available!!

Update stock firmware with custom recovery

so after giving up on installing cm12 I've decided to roll back to the stock sony firmware
but, I kinda downloaded a version that is a little bit outdated, so I have to update it
the problem is, when the cellphone goes to install it, it just boots on twrp
is there any way to fix that?

Are you trying to install a .zip file or a .ftf file?
.ftf files are only flashable with flashtool via a pc.

If you have unlocked the bootloader then PCCompanion will not work.
Use flashtool to download the latest FTF file and flash that

For the third time
Use flashtool to download the latest FTF for your device and flash it.
Or, if you can access recovery just flash a pre-rooted .zip for your device

I want to install a ROM on my Z3

My Sony Xperia Z3 d6633 is fully stock and is updated to the latest android i never rooted it or did anything to the phone but now i want to install existenz marshmallow rom what should i do to install it?
If you don't want aosp roms, just root it and install recovery so you can flash stock based roms.
There is thread in General section for just rooting and install recovery.

hi,
assuming that you're using windows,
follow this guide ( use this fw)
TRY A FEW TIMES IF IT FAILS.
Now you have gained root access without losing your drm keys and your bootloader it's still locked.
Now you have to install the recovery
just download the zip archive and extract it to a folder and run install.bat.
now download the eXistenZ Marshmallow... or whatever you want.
do a factory reset (wipe and factory reset) and install your zip (install and browse to yours zip location).
reboot and ENJOY :good:
