Heating Problem? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was playing Dungeon Hunter 4 last night, played it for almost 20 mins. Noticed the camera area was getting heated up a lot then all off a sudden the mobile restart's. So is this a common problem?
I am running Bliss Pop with Boeffla Kernel.

Yes, if you overheat the processor or GPU by overclocking or with a custom performance profile.
BTW, questions and support issues go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help

Oops did not see that thread , sry for posting here.
But I have not overclocked the CPU nor the GPU, are they overclocked by default?

You are running a custom kernel, so you'll have to check out the thread for it to see if they have changed the default values.

Well I did that, but while playing heavy games the cpu temp is around 68-70, is that normal? and I tried the antutu benchmark but when the cpu temp was 70 it restarted, tried 3 times the same. I left the mobile to cool down then tried, it ran the complete test.
So my main concern is , if my OPO is heating a lot than normal?

very hot !

hi, i'm running android revolution HD overclocked with faux kernel at 1510 and i noticed that my phone is getting warm each time i use it ( gps, internet, games). when i play games i goes to 48° celsius. I am a bit worry about it. I'm thinking about overheat maybe ? is that normal ? do u have the same temperature ?
(temperature at home 28°c)
Try underclocking it to like 1.3 GHz, whenever I do that my device cools down and I don't notice a drop in performance....

Thanks for your answer, that's what i tried yesterday night, temperature goes to 44° when i play Xplane 9 or 3d games .... it's a bit less than 48° but it's still a bit hot .... ?!
Overheat is at 50° isn't it ??
To my knowledge the faux kernel has heat problems. I know I can't use it or my phone gets too hot. Have you tried using a different kernel? Unity or Stock even?

I for one have not had heat issues with the Faux v0.1.0 kernel. Granted, I have not played many intense 3D games, but I have played N64oid with Super Mario 64 for roughly 15-20 minutes straight and haven't noticed any difference in phone temperature. If anything, this kernel, for me, performs better than the stock kernel in terms of temperature.
Could I be the lucky one? lol
hi everyone,
i have tested 2 differents ROM : android revolution from Mike and InsertCoin from baadnews and i just tried with stock kernel ... and guess what ? and my phone is still hot when i'm using it ... about 43°.
any idea ?
hello every one

than don't over clock.
over clocking is going to raise operating temperatures.
What is your goal with overclocking? Or you just hopping on the band wagon?

you are right i agree with you but
so why we are having a strong phone with all these specifications ??
even when i was on stock also had the sme issue
i think Q&A for HTC is really bad for this phone.
according to the number of problems this phone have(screen, heat, Dust under screen).
these problems happend for allot of people, just google it and you will see big result and i dont see any reaction from HTC!!!

i overclocked because i am a performance addict . always wants more you know but this time i think i will not overclock ,temparture are too high and it will end very bad !
I also noticed that the buttons ( home, back, search , menu ) always stay on when i use de phone, is it normal ? the lights should not switch off after a few seconds ?

[Q] Random Antutu results?

Hello guys,
I have a strange behaviour of my new Galaxy s II plus. The Antutu benchmark results can very quite significantly for me. For a short series of runs I could have something about > 9000 points, next run ~ 8400, next about ~ 7500, next ~6500!
I can understand the difference of dozens or few hundreds (depending on phone 'mood' and so on.. ) but not thousands !
Has anyone faced same issue already? Is it ok or not (I guess not, I have never seen such 'randoms' on any other android device before (mine or someones else). I am really really interested to find out the reason and solution , but with someones help
Thanks
Denis
AnTuTu benchmarks hardly represent real usage. Also, when benchmarking, a lot of people tend to set the cpu governor to 'performance', where the cpu clock stays at max speed hence the impressive benchmark results.
Best benchmark is yourself, if you don't experience lags or other issues then your device is working fine for your kind of usage. So nothing to fret about, mate.

My highest was about 9.2k or something. (Custom ROM, rebooted phone, full battery, no power saving, cleared RAM, no app ongoing)
If you would check the ranking (worldwide?), there is one with 11k benchmark.
EDIT: Measured at different timing and states:
Score of 3k++ (low battery), 6.6~6.9k+- (stock ROM), 7.3k+- (Custom ROM), 8.5k+- (Custom ROM), and aforementioned 9.2k+-

Yeah, my highest was about the same. The lowest was 6k plus with cpu underclocked to 800mhz.
I basically played with AnTuTu for a couple of hours trying to break my own records and then got bored and uninstalled it

Hahahaha.. I agree with someone above. Own experience matters.
I guess all the S2 Plus users are satisfied with the performance regardless of the score

[Q] Battery drain issue

Dear developers,
I'm just wondering, is it just me or is everyone else facing the same problem. I felt that my Nexus 5 battery is draining so fast. In 1 day I can charge my phone twice. Sure, I played Asphalt for a bit. But I think the battery drain is still too quick.
I'm using Cataclysm ROM and Franco Kernel.
Should I use kernel controller such as FKU full version?
Any other tips maybe?
Have you tried setting the Wifi such that it is off when your phone is asleep. How about the setting to always allow scanning for Wifi networks? Did you turn off Google location history? One thing I've found is that the Wifi radio eats through the battery like crazy, even at idle, and changing these settings seems to make the biggest difference of anything.

I'm assuming you're on the latest 4.4.2? It's a common issue with the nexus devices so you're not alone there. But what you can do to minimize it is that to set your cpu governor to something modest like 'conservative' and put your i/o scheduler to "row" those settings have worked for me on my s4 to reduce battery drainage. If you have the ktoonservativeq option for Cpu governor then that's a good choice as well.

Which apps should I use to change those settings? FKU full version?
Post here your problem and they might help you fix it
There's plenty of free apps out there that'll do the job. But for example, in cyanogenmod roma if you have developer settings enabled, there will be an option all the way down at the bottom that says Performance. You can change some settings over there as well

some example would definitely be a great help
which one you suggest too.
I'm not using CM yet
Playing a game like asphalt will drain your battery in no time, that's to be expected, if you play san Andreas is still worse
Try using greenify to greenify your apps through it's widget, I'm on beanstalk with Franco kernel and i get around 24 hours playing games like clash of clans and battle of zombies, but if play San Andreas i get only like 45 minutes, probably an hour

Low benchmark scores after franco kernel r33

i used to get around 32k in antutu and around 18k in quadrant before franco kernel r33 but now i am getting around 24k and 11k respectively i highlt doubt this is due to kernel (i didnt screw up anything (no custom roms nothing...)) can some confirm this ?? plzz
Why does it matter? Does the phone still run good? Can you notice any difference while using your phone normally?

in practical sense the phone works perfect apps run smoothly and battery life is awesome (5-6hrs)...but theoritical sense why did the scores become less ?? did franco limit the processor speed or something??

This bit is the only thing you should be caring about...
The 'score' is meaningless. Let it go, uninstall any benchmark apps and don't bother running a test ever again.
Put it this way...if you suddenly scored 234069823987693827469823764 after flashing a new kernel, but performance and battery actually got worse, which one would you prefer?

Hi,
Franciso explained that he had decreased the CPU temp limit before thermal throttling, that could explain your lower score (earlier thermal throttle)... Check also your max CPU freq.
Let cool down your phone before you run Antutu and see, or play with the thermal settings (raise a bit the CPU temp before thermal throttling, core also).
The user is in its right to know why he have a lower score in benches between two different version of a kernel, whatever if a bench is useful or useless... Obviously if all is smooth and run perfectly for you, it's the principal.
nexus 5 is high end device, benchmark score doesn't effect the performance of device using any kernel.
i never experience any lag on my nexus, i always get different score in antutu.
r32 I got around 32k with antutu now I get around 29k on r33 but battery life is so incredible I'm willing to sacrifice benchmark points useless in day to day use .... isn't benchmarking moslty about bragging?
thank you very much

Are you running any custom kernel? Also, what ROM are you running? What games are you talking about? It would help if you could give some more info
I am on full stock not even rooted and I am talking about games like subway surfers or dumb ways to die 2 or temple run 2 or asphalt 8 stutter and lag but modern combat 5 works fine
So this is issue

Same here. I was shocked when I noticed a basic game like subway surfers stuttering on such a powerful hardware :/
Try changing the performance mode from the default mode 'Balanced' to 'Performance' mode which is the highest setting.
Performance mode increases the max cpu frequency. Do try that and see if the lag decreases.
Ive not tried any of the above games.

Performance mode doesn't change the maximum CPU frequency, you need a custom kernel to do that. What it does is change the minimum CPU frequency to be the same as the maximum, so it's always at the maximum frequency.

Of course, you have the option of flashing a custom kernel... But since you're not rooted, you could try switching from Dalvik to Art in developer settings. I've experienced lag in games like you said but flashing a custom ROM and kernel rids of the stutters for me.
