A good slow motion camera app for the Android? - Other Tools & General Discussion

Some of you guys might be aware of the app for only Apple users called Slopro, which is a great and smooth app used record in slow motion and allows for very simple editing. Unlike the stock slow motion features that many new Androids have, Slopro records sounds and also allows you to pinpoint where you would like it to slow down and return to normal.
If you have tried to find an app like this for Android like I have, you will realize that the Play Store is littered with ****ty slow motion apps.
I realize that this may be difficult to develop this due to the multitude of different cameras but if it is created for the top android phones that are capable of slow motion recording, I feel like you have yourself a winner.
If someone could point me in the direction of an app like slopro I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I think we're all waiting for the same thing. Hope this hits XDA or the play store soon.

Video Editing App?

Is there no video editing app? Nothing fancy, all I would like would be to cut video's and maybe join them together.... maybe add a music track.
Is it that hard to do?
This would be interesting.

Definetely a lot of work butthe iPhone and WebOS can do this so i'm left feeling it should be on the cards without the need for an independant programmer to work on such an app

+ 1. I'd pay $10+ for an decent video editing app.
What's the point of having enhanced 720p video if you can't edit-then-share/post it easy and quickly?
Seriously, there's multiple very enhanced editors on the iPhone platform -- including the new one in OS4 that looks pretty slick -- and nothing on Android. Sad panda.

Wp7 3rd party apps slow?

I have heard that 3rd party apps load slow and are slow to collect data on wp7, is that true? And are they as smooth as the rest of the os?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
I Guess it depends on well the apps are written. This would be true on any platform.
I haven't experienced any extreme disparity between native apps and the 3rd party stuff I use. Maybe that's because the marketplace has Microsoft oversight and buggy apps are rejected.
Sent from my Focus using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Yeah they are slower. Listbox performance isn't great but they have done a lot in Mango to fix these problems.
Well im ordering a wp7 phone tomorrow so we shall see, done with android
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Mango is bringing enhancements that will drastically speed up 3rd party apps in terms of scrolling/stopping during scrolls/loading of information while scrolling ect. They stated that they will see, just from the OS update, a 30-35% increase in responsiveness, and allows you to scroll smoothly while things are still loading.
But yes some apps are better coded than others. The good ones are pretty smooth, but not quite as smooth as the native apps. That will change come Mango.
Lets see if I can find my video link....brb

Why iPhone applications or games always ahead android?

Hi all,
I've been a both android and iPhone user. And for now I've switched back to android for Galaxy S3 because it has much bigger screen and wanna try how fast it is. However, it's my feeling I think not quite different from 4S, even 4S can respond fast in every game and application compared to galaxy. I don't know why... just feel like that during the time I use it.
One more thing is that I wonder why almost every game or application under the same name from iPhone, got available ahead of android and most of them have much more features and quality than android as well, eg., asphalt 7....
Sometimes, I feel so sad about this...
So I am waiting to read about all of your opinions on this matter...
Thanks,

It's because of the I in front of it. Apple have hacked the Android Play Store to check an online database of Iphone Apps, and if any developer tries to put an app on the Play store, the Apple Virus checks if the same app is already available for the Iphone. If it's not, it will delay the Android app in Stealth mode, and send the sourcecode to Apple. Apple will then convert the app for IOS, put an I in front of the name, and release it for Iphone. As soon as they do, the name with the I in front of it gets transferred to the remote database, signaling the Apple virus that this particular app is now available on Iphone, and it's safe to come out of Stealth mode and release the app into the Play Store, but upon release, the virus cuts out 2 or 3 random features. They did this so they can claim that they always have apps faster then Android, and with more features. Now you know.
Apple has a very limited set of devices which they have to support in their OS. Thus much more optimization can be done to "smooth" such things. That said, I find JB with Project Butter quite impressive in this regard.
But with owning a non-Nexus Samsung device you are not in the best hands regarding non-bloated and smooth firmwares.

Hmm, like what you said I should go to one "smooth" is better then holding many types of devices which is good only in shapes and spec but doesn't have quality. I still don't know how Google encourage their 3rd party devs to make one good app or game for android. As to hacker307 said seem play store is a cow-don't fix.

I regularly eat apples. Sometimes they tell me stuff.
Apple has far better system integration with their line of products. A good example is the iPhone 4S which has inferior spec compared with similar priced Android phones, but still it runs much more smooth than most of the android phone. Because every iPhone 4S is exactly the same, so software developer knows exactly how their software will perform on those units, and hence much more easier to optimize performance.
As to why iOS games is always ahead of Android, I believe that has a lot to do with the eco system of AppStore and Google Play respectively. iOS is more profitable than Google, but that is just my guess.
I can't understand what u have found about this two devices. I own an ipod 4th gen and I can say that my galaxy s plus is faster. I know iphone is the most beautiful but not the best at specs... I am sorry my friend. Also about the hacking is correct...

I think you are right, that is the reason. Dev`s tend to develop apps/games to get the most profit first.
I believe that all apple devices are pretty much the same since the first one so so application's can be made more quickly and easily. But android phones are made by different companies using different hardware so harder for developers

Am I mad?

I've been an Android user for the best part of 5 years, seeing a steady improvement of OS and supporting apps. While the Galaxy Range has got better and better.
I'm currently using a Galaxy S4, but for whatever reason i'm being drawn towards the Nokia Lumia 1020. My partner wants one because "it's a Nokia" while I'm interested because of the Camera. I'm a DSLR user so this isn't for instagramin' me breakfast, it's to capture great photos at concerts and videos and general stuff which I plan to blog up. My other reasoning is I'm very fond of my Surface Pro, which is again a Windows device and I can't put it down, so am I mad? Will having a Windows phone have any real benefit with a Surface?
My greatest concern is the store that is less than lacking from my initial research with what i'd call basic apps are missing, youtube, twitter to name but a few. This concerns me, but being a window phone n00b you smart people maybe able to enlighten me to alternative options which don't come from the origin of the app.
I suppose what I'm really asking is did you switch from an Android and what did you miss and what can you not live without since you switched.
My current plan is to get a 1020, tether it to my surface and use windows 8 pro instead of apps on the phone and use the phone for texts calls and the camera.
Any and all help welcome.
My concern also are the lack off apps on windows phones vs the enormous google play store.
But those apps you mentioned as an example (youtube, twitter) are available. Just as facebook, skype, wordfeud etc are.
I dont have a windows phone, but these apps are listed when I search the windows phone app store online.
Most are not from the website makers with some being rubbish or nothing more than a front end to the mobile version. This is one of my concerns as a lot are not very good or cost money and still aren't very good.

Twitter is baked into the OS, but there is an official version (at least there is for WP 7.8). There are a number of third party apps for things like Youtube and Instagram that are a lot better than you'd think. Try Metrotube or Supertube apps for Youtube.

The game is Color Lines (4 in 1)
We spent almost two months to build it last year, and we combined four attractive games together , but till now only a few downloads per day, why?:crying::crying:

Get rid of the poorly autotranslated program descriptions. They sound ridiculous, at least in German. Use English text instead or look for good translators.
Try to include important keywords into your app desription, like the title of the original games - but in a "natural" manner.
The visual style of your game is not appealing. Use a better font, do not use "dirty grey* backgrounds. Use flat graphics. Try to get inspiration by games like Dots and Threes.
It looks like your game is quite hard to play on a 4" device. Try to make your assets bigger.
You've given us no reason to play your game.... What's your pitch? Convince me, make me NEED to download it right away.

Note: HD/FHD support only. For example - Galaxy Nexus 4/5/7, Galaxy S3/4, Note 2/3, Xperia Z, Moto X, G2 and HTC One etc.
Your target devices have amazing hardware inside. your game should be able to tap into that powerful hardware resource available.
Otherwise target the low end android devices to improve the game popularity nad bugs and then work your way upto the flagships !!
You should also do more to promote your game. Go on Google+, start a blog, etc. You can't just depend on word of mouth, you have to self promote.
I generally love when people try pushing their apps into the store, but this game does not look attentive at all.Just because you worked on an app for a long time doesn't mean it will be a hit.
People like hd, possibly 3d apps that aren't too complicated.
Average people want a simple game to kill time, which is attractive. I don't know how to describe, but you must have talent for it xD

But vast majority of user have budget devices when newly launched. These devices were launched as flagships ( flagships are not brought by majority of people ).
Try improving the basic graphics of game so that, it does not give an impression of a cheap or free game even if small in size.
Release the app on iOS and Windows store . Since iOS popular games are more blindly followed into the Play Store popularity ratings by blogs.
This will give enough popularity fir your game.
See the problem is you are good in designing and all , but you need to learn to market your skills to people also. you need to highlight your plus points more visibly in the already crowded world of apps & games.
make people notice the difference.

Atleast make the GAME ICON in play store ATTRACTIVE or of HD quality.
Honestly , with the current icon, even when i am searching for a game and title meets the requirement, i would likely skip it for some spam and all.
Cause it looks like many other games out there already popular, just in different background. There are still a lot of games that can be played on budget hardware, I still use my evo 4g on cm11 and run a lot of the games I like that came out this year.
And now to me you've made it to where people will point and laugh and say that's the dev crying nobody's downloading they're app...actually, that is good marketing lol

Well as stated only having such a poor quality game that's HD only! These are simple games but to be honest having a HTC One S and that's apparently not good enough for your game kinda makes me think screw it, there are plenty of better looking similar apps that do work.
for starters, change that icon, it's terrible, less cold colors and more white would be great
Improve the ui, it's horrible

Need to improve your UI, also try to come up with something new...
Need to improve the title of the thread (immature, for god sake) or is tactic to attract more viewers!? Then I try your app, give 5 stars & my thanks too.
