i see 3 topics too... That is awful cause mine is XT1033. i just convert it to GPE 4.4.2, OTA to 4.4.4. One sim works
So scary abt brick the phone cause i want to go back to stock 4.4.3
I mean 4.3 JB, not 4.4.3 KK =.=", it somehow felt a lot smoother in that version...But is downgrading possible from 4.4.4 GPE to 4.3 Motorola?
I was able to downgrade form xt1033 4.4.4 to 4.3 but don't have idea about GPE

Gpe makes change in bootloader and fastboot. So u cant downgrade via fastboot.
But if u have any nadroid of 4.3, u can revert back

I guess the point is partition.stock version use f2fs and gpe use ext4.so it have to reparttition if you want to convert a gpe to stock.but after OTA to 4.4.4 , the gpt.bin(stock 4.4.2) can't be flash. It's that right

Could you please tell me how? I've been looking for 2 days, so many people are trying to do the same thing and there is absolutely no information
My phone is xt1034 unlocked bootloader version 4111, received 4.4.2 and upgraded manually to 4.4.4 and would like to downgrade to 4.3 to hopefully solve the alarm problem and the internet connection stability, as these sometimes drive me crazy!
Thank you

how the hell did you do it? if you're on 4.4.3+ you shouldn't be able to downgrade your motoboot, and if you do it completely bricks the bootloader. i know because i tried. i tried the restore to stock guide but it didn't work on my xt1034.
K finally got back to 4.4.3 Stock, but still cannot make it to 4.3 (version downgraded for boot, partition and motoboot)

Take a look there

when you are on 4.4.2 u can try to go more in 4.3, should work, try with BR firmware if u got XT1032, or other region wich have 4.4.4 from whre u are starting to downgrade. then when you are in 4.3 just flash via fastboot other 4.3 region wich u want.
cheers

Thanks for your reply but it'll only works with 4.4.2, there's no way of downgrading it further to 4.3...
EDIT: I recall reverting from 4.4.2 to 4.3 a long time ago, which I forgot to flash the motoboot.img, which then caused a bootlogo loop (not boot animation loop). Is it the case here that motoboot.img can't be downgraded anymore?

i was on same bootloader loop,i bricked my phone wich same,i started to downgrade without searching a bit.i didnt known will cause a brick. in that post i explained how i succesfully downgraded from 4.4.4 to 4.4.2. When u are on 4.4.2 then it should work to downgrade one more to 4.3. for me it worked to downgrade till 4.4.2 , more i dont continued cuz i wanted just to go on 4.4.2 to convert in GPE again, but should work.

Yeah it worked like you said, but only for downgrading to 4.4.2, not 4.3. 4.3 rom required a different bootloader (i think) so with the upgraded bootloader which comes along with 4.4.3 and 4.4.4, it won't work anymore since the bootloader can no longer be downgraded.
There is a serious bug that Motorola have patched in 4.4.3 / 4.4.4. Not only is it very dangerous to mess around with downgrading / updating bootloader, but if you start experiencing the sudden battery drop issue you will regret ever having tried.
From my experience of updating and downgrading.
Once you update from 4.4.2 to higher version number you can no longer downgrade to 4.3. The lowest you can downgrade back to is 4.4.2 from 4.4.4. Also relocking bootloader doesn't seem to work while downgrading only works when re flashing the same stock firmware.

What if you went from 4.4.4 to 4.4.2, then from 4.4.2 to 4.3? Will that work? I am desperately trying to get back to Jelly Bean as I hate KitKat, but I am unable to as I went to 4.4.4 Stock Rom (XT1032, Retail GB firmware version).
Can you explain me how you did that?
Once Bootloader has been updated by flashing 4.4.2 or newer, there is no going back. Even with a nandroid backup, I suspect there is a check in the 4.3 kernel regarding Bootloader version and it won't progress. There was only ever one custom kernel for 4.3 made by @faux123, but I cannot locate it since he removed the download.
Hello everyone I am using an XT1032 which is the Moto G that isn't the google play edition and I was wondering if it was safe to flash to the 4.4.4 custom ROM's such as AOSB?
I've read the guide on how to unbrick and currently I've being trying ROM's and then restoring my ClockWorkMod backup of stock, obviously this stock ROM is 4.4.2 so if I was to upgrade to a 4.4.4 ROM for the XT1032 could I go restore that stock ROM afterwards and get away without bricking? I know there is a fix but I would really like to avoid going through all of that...
Thank you in advance

You should be able to upgrade to 4.4.4 ROM and then restore to anything as long as your boot loader is unlocked.
yes, it is safe
unlock bootloader and convert to gpe 442, receive the ota, having no root and stock gpe 442 recovery just to be super sure
and done
but after having 444, you wont be able to have stock 442 , at least not in an easy way

I have try many way to do that but fail, stay on gpe 444
okay
Okay, I don't mean the official GPE ROM I mean what if I install lets say, Carbon 4.4.4, can I restore my stock backup after?
I installed the latest cm11 nightly (4.4.4) and I could restore my stock 4.4.2 backup with no problems.
The downgrade brick is caused by some partition table changes in the stock OTA I think. Custom roms don't change partition tables so it is fine.
I may be wrong about the cause though, feel free to correct me but I could restore without any problems.
Hey Guys,
Me and others do really want the 4.3 firmware, but we can't flash it anymore because of the 4.4.4 firmware update. I tried everything to downgrade but no luck.
So I'm looking for a person who do have the 4.3 firmware, with CWM recovery touch, there is an option inside the recovery to create a image zip. So if you guys know someone running XT1032 with 4.3 firmware, ask him to create zip file please We need it...
I have a zip but Stock 4.3 Kernel will not boot with a newer bootloader and there is no way to downgrade it. I posted a request here for a custom kernel which might work:

Hello forum, basically, when I got my moto G, it was on 4.3, so I did all the bits, and the step i did after all the rooting unlocking etc was upgraded my bootloader to the lollipop one (ending in 8 i believe) - which i wish i didnt do, and cant downgrade to 4.4.4 (or can I without bricking)......right back to the story.......the problem now is, whenever i try uninstalling apps, or wiping data in any app etc, my phone does a reboot, I installed the brazillian 5.0.2 flashable rom (the optimised one) which worked perfectly, did all the correct wipes etc, but it reboots when uninstalling apps......, and thought i would try dirty unicorns....works well except the rebooting problem...... help....what can I do????????
I read somewhere that maybe to solve it, you gotta change runtime from dalvik to ART, but there is no option to change this....
There are no 5.0.2 uk images available that i have read (so i cant completely get back to complete factory settings)
I really wished i kept the KK bootloader!!!! so who can help me????? I want to try some of the great CM11 builds!!!
Since your bootloader is unlocked and you have the lollipop bootloader, I suggest flashing the stock 4.4.4 (not 4.4.2) ROM for your xt1032 (you will not be able to flash the motoboot file so don't bother trying), upgrade the Motorola apps via Play store, and take the 5.02 OTA update.
FInd your stock ROM here: http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=filename&order=ASC&show=100&page=1

do i have to update to 5.0.2 again? as i want to try cm11 again
@audit13 is this a flashable zip, or do you need to do it via fastboot? as its got a bootloader included in the zip (4.4.4 kitkat bootloader)
The files from filefactory need to be unzipped and flashed via fastboot or mfastboot.
You do not need to do anything with the stock ROM if you want to install a custom ROM. All you need to do is install a compatible custom recovery and a custom ROM. I suggest flashing right to the latest CM12 rather than using CM11.
I suggested flashing back to the stock for your phone and upgrading to 5.02 via OTA to see if the uninstall problem goes away.
yep understood @audit13 read your other posts on this matter too, the reason I want to use a cm11 rom, is I had a moto g about 8-9 months ago, and there was a rom i loved, and it was cm11 based......will i brick if i do flash this cm11 rom? i know about flickering bug, and possible hard brick if i went back to versions below 4.4.4 ...... and i love cyanogenmod roms, as i dont get irritating moto updates etc
Flashing CM11 should not be a problem as CM11 ROMs do not touch the bootloader or modem.
so basically, downgrade to the 4.4.4 firmware file, and cm11 and im done? yeah?
You can try to flash cm11 directly over stock 5.02. If it doesn't work, you may have to flash back to stock 4.4.4, install recovery, and then flash cm11.
I have a problem downgrading my VRZ note 3 from lollipop to KK, I manually update from 4.3 to the latest 5.0 via odin flash without no problem. but I want root and lollipop and I found out that I had to do it similar as how I did it on my s5 I had to start from kk 4.4.2 before I could ungrade to 5.0. So I was trying to downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.2 to do the rooting process but flash 4.4.2 via odin keeps failing even try flash 4.3 same thing I'm on LP 5.0 N900VVRUEOF1 if anyone can help me downgrade the help will be appreciated.. PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
