[Completed] [Q] Help needed with LG-VS920 Spectrum bootloop - XDA Assist

I'm not even sure where to start. Any thread I've looked at for the LG Spectrum, the very few that still exist, have outdated links and links that lead to phishing sites. My issue is that I'm trying to recovery my LG Spectrum back to stock to start with. I used to mess around with this phone a lot back when I first got it but I can't remember what I even did to it. I tried to run a factory reset and once it rebooted, it was stuck in a bootloop.
I've been trying to find the links from this thread at androidcentral. I'm pretty sure this guide is exactly what I'm looking for but the files listed lead to phishing sites:
@androidcentral /cwm-root-gb-only-clockworkmod-recovery-for-the-lg-spectrum-4g.593778
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. We can't comment on anything to do with Android Central as we are in no way affiliated with that site, any grievances you have with content or links on their site need to be taken up with them. Unfortunately things are not going to be easy for you in this situation, even when the device was brand new it wasn't very popular so there isn't really a great deal of information available for it. I can't find anything here on XDA that would really be of any use to you, so I don't think we're going to be much help. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Good luck!

need dev help BIG time

We with the samsung admire 4g need some good person/peoples help with gaining root access for our phone, ive tried all the easy/one click methods to no avail ive been to most forums and nothing anywhere,i mostly stay on the phandroid site its always helped me with my past androids but no luck with my new one,and i know xda has some of the best around so any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated
I looked around and this pretty much sums it up: "To root this phone, which I also have, you need to look up the guide for s-off as well as rooting using Linux. There is no other way as of now because the phone isn`t popular amongst the modding community. No one has made a script or even a guide for that matter, but I found out the hard way and the distribution model is s-on. Good luck. I`ve already done this, but with no clockwork recovery or mods available, it is utterly pointless unless you`re a developer. Seeing as how you asked this question, I`m assuming you`re not. Sorry. Maybe the devs will spread the love one day, but by then you`ll most likely have a newer, better phone. I know I will. Try using adw launcher and power toggles. I managed to create a righteous theme using those and a white marble stock photo to blend with the phones shell. Good stuff."
I hope this gives closure to your question.

[Q] Noob wanting to root***

Ok so I'm looking to root my HTC M7, I've been told the obvious problem already, I dont know enough yet to be rooting. Sorry, still want to try. That being said, I'm looking for some direction. A good site, a good video, anything or recommendations that will help me out. Yes I have gone to You Tube step by step videos but I always seem to run into a problem. For example, the person in the video says to follow a link below in description, I go and the link is no longer there. Or, maybe its there but takes me somewhere different than described. One of them even changed my browser to AVG (I know, I'm retarded).
Does anyone have any ideas on where to go, where to learn and where it will literally be a step by step?
By the way, the unlocking part seems easy enough. I think its from that point I run into trouble. Also, why? Everyone seems to want to know why. Simple, I would really like to learn for one. Second, I hate the garbage att lays in on me. Id like to mess with the speed (I've heard this is possible) and Id like more choices. I just want to keep the phone interesting. The last reason, I saw yesterday. If its not BS, Id like to get function from my HTC logo.
So I hope this is not to silly for all of you. If so, I do apologize.
Thanks, Chris
root htc m7
have you tried this?
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...one-m7-and-install-recovery-xda-developer-tv/
Yes, it may sound repetitive but read, read and read it again. There is an incredible amount of knowledge contained throughout this site. Sometimes the smallest mistake/oversight can lead to a huge headache, that's why its so important to have a basic understanding of any modifications you are about to make. Start with the dedicated forum for ur service provider/phone. All the info your going to need will be included in the forum and subsequent sub-forums. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions, we've all been in the same spot before. Use the tools that the site provides, search for your answers and read thru the forums.

Thanks.
Thanks for the help. I did end up finding more help in the dedicated area, especially when I went to my phones forums. Huge thanks for the encouragement. I will deff. read a little more before jumping off the cliff. Looks like the process has become much easier and people are developing all in one tools. Cool stuff, thanks again!

Hi folks
I am completely new to the world of tweaking your android device. I didn't even know how to root a device until 24 hours ago. I wanted to install a better version of android than the stock version that came with the device and I went about reading how to do so, starting with rooting the device which I had success with. I then tried to install a custom rom called cleanonda50 rom. I spent hours trying to figure it out and somehow managed to completely botch things up. I may have bricked the device and I spent hours trying to fix the problem to no avail. I'm completely defeated and ready to send it to a professional to get it fixed. The device won't turn on and I don't know what to do.
I found a website where an android expert will remote control my computer and fix it for a fee. I was thinking (and Mods please let me know if this is frowned upon), I was looking to see if anyone would be interested in helping and instead of paying this website, I could perhaps pay you compensation for your expert advice and time by remoting into my pc and walking me through the process. Or if one of the Mods would volunteer, I could make a small donation to the forum to support with running costs. If you are interested, please send me a Private Message.
As it stands I have an expensive paperweight, so I apologize if I'm doing anything that is considered discouraging; please let me know and I will amend my post.
Thanks everyone

That is not what XDA is about, this is a Development site not pay to have work done site. I suggest you try another site, or just read and learn for yourself regarding your device.
There are tons of guides and the question sections for your device, that is the place to learn, but coming here and looking to pay someone again is not what XDA is about.

[Completed] (Noob) Note 4 bricked USC (R4) Bricked/stuck ??

I believe a relative attempted to install via oden, A Verizon based module on this phone using odin. I am so unlearned about the android os that I do not know the terminology even to use here. Not complaints but just info, I am now victim to two arsons and thus homeless and rebuilding and so little time this is first chance I have had to post about this in some time.
I am not very adept at finding articles here so would appreciate any help any can provide.
I wish to and will learn all there is to know about Android some time in future and will master most of it except programing.
For now any help with any post or articles or what have you would be appreciated as well as any live help should someone so care to provide
You are welcome to PM or email me as well. [email protected].
If I am allowed to post this, I would consider paid help as well. If not allowed to post any part of this or if in wrong area, please help me correct my actions.
Thank you all in advance.

Hi,
Here is a thread on returning your device to stock with Odin, http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...mware-firmware-kernel-modem-recovery-t2942937
And as far as wanting to learn about Android and the things found on XDA, my only advice is to read read read. There is a lot of info out there, just search on terms or procedures you are curious about and read through the search results.
For your device, you can start with this thread to learn more about it... http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/guide-to-note-4-wip-t2939288
You can ask questions there as well!
Good luck!
Ty, Darth. Sorry for my noobness. I cannot seem to locate in the reccomended thereds, any thing about USCelluar phones or any link to any Rom, Kernal or what ever it is called. I do now know odin was improperly used and possibly a verizon upload was made to the phone and then on panic odin was ran and all possible options tried like flash tlock partition and any other options except pit.
I have not a clue where to start to fix it. I have been reading but if I seen any possible solutions, I missed them. Can someone please point me to some factory iriginal files for the USC NOTE 4 and some knowledge of how to use them? If some other files would work, where verizon or what have you, glad to try that to. The phone in question has never been on line or assigned any phone number since new. Not sure that matters. I do not mind messing it up further or experimenting to learn or help devs if any needed.
Thanks
Gh
I suggest then asking about your device here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/noob-friendly-question-t2866810
But I will tell you... Reading and research is a part of this hobby. Without doing a lot of that, people end up with big problems usually.
Here is the main note 4 section, I recommend reading through some of the sticky threads in the general and Q&A sections. Those are the threads at the top with a thumb tack symbol beside them. :good:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4
After you've read up and know a little more, then I'd worry about roms and whatnot. And any further questions can be asked in the first thread I linked in this post.
Good luck again!
I am confident in only big solutions. I thank you for your kindness and patience. I am only sorry that I do not know a rom from a kernal or a brick for now. I regret, I am not smart enough as well to follow the links so well or derive from then when I can. I do have unbreakable tenacity however and never lose a war due to it. The outcome for me is obvious but the time frame not so nice to me as I will not have time to read much for some months and now seek a quuick fix for a quick fix of feeling human again, for now. Any advise for a direct link to some adb and fast boot drivers? Seems this may be the sutipn and not odin for now. Seems I need to get what ever the file is called into the phone or files to recover to as mine goes to recovery every time but then losds the bum files it has stired. Would be nice to know how to idenify the files but all in good time.
You will need to ask in the threads provided. Xda Assist is here to help navigate the site, not for support.
If you have no time to read, and want things done quick, then I suggest to you that your heading down a risky path... And your device could suffer.
Also, XDA is a place to learn and share... Without doing your part here, meaning reading, you will have trouble getting people to help.
Thanks, and thread closed.

Nextbook Ares 8a/10a - If You Have One - Bricked or Otherwise

I'm no dev, but i've come to be decently familiar with these devices.
If it's bricked - and you're arriving at having "looked everywhere" for a fix to no avail, DO NOT HESITATE to post your problemo. I may be able to help and would be glad to take a whack at it.
(A description of what went wrong, how your brick came to be would be helpful in solving your particular case.)
You should get a response from me pretty quickly in the Telegram
But definitely post here as well or give a link to your existing "need help" post if you already happen to have one.
If not bricked - maybe looking to see what other cool things can be done with these. Especially if you didn't know that these tablets are essentially mini pc's.
You could very well install Linux (Lubuntu | as Ubuntu runs like balls)
or even Windows (less practical .. still haven't gotten the drivers totally figured out .. but pretty neat nonetheless).
Creating backup firmware .img's - Also if you're unbricked a VERY useful thing to do would be to boot a Live Lubuntu from USB and create backup .imgs of each partition using the "dd" command. THEN, you'll have a working firmware backup for yourself and/or others who may need some stock imgs! With the very lacking amount of stock firmware to be found for these devices, making backups with this method would be very cool of you and helpful to everyone!
(Assistance and clarification can easily be given wherever needed!)
@CornholeOS_x86
Please read THIS before posting further. In fact it would be better if you read the entire Rules and start to follow them always.
I hope that you will be providing your help on XDA openly and not via third party sites and PMs.
Cheers!
Apologies, I shall.
I only mention TG because assisting would be much easier in a chat environment. Is there an allowed alternative or would the Discord serve this purpose? I mean not to break rules.

I'm confident that you didn't and don't intend to break any forum rules, and I really appreciate that you confirm this. I'm also convinced that you agree that XDA members won't benefit from any - although well intended - assistance or support that is provided outside of XDA by whatever social media.
This is one of the reasons that and as an exemption to the last bullet of rule no. 5 of the forum rules (which my esteemed team mate @TNSMANI linked in his post above) we only grant developers the privilege to provide references to their social media in their own development threads.
I hope I was able to clarify your question.
