[Q] Downgrade to stock kitkat - LG G Pro 2

Hello
I already update my g pro 2 to lollipop, since i need root, i want to go back to kitkat, but when i research for the method, im so confused.
Some people say, its simply flash kdz, some say flashing the kdz make you bootloop.
And i found 2 different thread that explain the method of downgrading
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2665209
And
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3020455
My question is.
Wich method that i can follow? Since im not an expert on android, i dont want to experience error,
And if that safe if i flash kitkat kdz directly with lg flash tool?
Thank you so much for the answer, i really appreciate it

I would suggest trying the KDZ method (LG Flash Tool 2014) first then if there are problems try the TOT method to fix it.
Read the comments about what some people encountered and how they fixed it so you can avoid having problems.
(A common problem is not being able to correctly download the whole KDZ file)
Good Luck!

Try KDZ method first, it works for most people. I would suggest looking for the "LG Flash Tool 2014" though, it is much easier.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
Also get the latest LG mobile drivers directly from LG's website
TOT method only if KDZ method doesn't work
Guide for TOT method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475045 just use GP2 files
I got my TOT file here: http://lgviet.com/forum/threads/file-tot-dll-danh-cho-lg-g-pro-2-d838.36287/
I asked a friend with a fast and stable connection to download it for me and it took a week of trying before a successful download.
DLL file I used is attached.
The programs used for KDZ method and TOT method are both called LG Flash Tool but they are not the same. Here are the icons to be able to tell them apart.

Well, do you know what you are doing?
If not so, I won't like to give you an advice because you may brick your phone if you do something wrong.
You can enter fastboot with Power+VolDown. You don't need root, but an unlocked bootloader.
How about root?

There is a custom recovery now, so you need an unlocked BL, flash the recovery, flash superuser and enjoy you can also test the countless exploits or one click rooting methods, like vroot or kingoo or whatever they are called.

MotoG PID is missing in the RSDlite .ini files, we have to add ourselves or wait for a new release of RSDlite.

Boot to fastboot, and select the last option in the list. Unless the last option is barcodes, then pick the second to last option. When the phone boots, RSD Lite will see it.

These are the options in the Moto G bootloader:
Code:
Normal Powerup
Recovery
Factory
Switch Console [NULL: null]
Barcodes
BP Tools

The last option "BP Tools" reboots the device to Android, but with a whole bunch of new devices detected in Windows Device Manager.
Manually add drivers for the new "Motorola QC Diag interface" device. These drivers are in the motorola driver package: http://www.mymotocast.com/download/MDM?platform=windows
The driver is the "Motorola QC Diag Port", Windows did NOT detect this, I had to go through the 'let me choose a driver' dialog. Finally the Moto G is detected in RSD Lite.
That's it, BP Tools at the end. I selected it wondering what it was and lo and behold, RSD Lite suddenly recognised the phone (I had left it open).

[ROM] CN Mod V2 for F350/S/K/L and D838

I believe this is the first custom rom out for the G Pro 2. Works on the F350 and D838. All you need is a rooted device.
Based of latest D838 V10D firmware
Stock LG Boot logo. No SK Telecom, Olleh or U+ boot logos
Unbranded
No Korean text anywhere!
pre-rooted. Optimized rom for better (lower) memory use.
Speed tweaks.
Battery tweaks
Menu UI height reduced by 50%
No SMS limit
Removed Korean audio files.
Added Note 3 sound library.
Download and installation instructions
Doesn't work on D838, as root is needed for this flashing process to work, and there is no root for the D838 currently

How did you brick it? I flashed this no issues. You just have to go slwo step by step. It will just be a softbrick, boot.img will be intact. Download mode: Remove the battery or power of the phone. Hold volume up while inserting your USB cable that is connected to your PC.

*** This MOD is used for CN Mod V2 only ***
Unzip all the 7z and you will get below folders.
Connect the G Pro 2 with USB debug mode on, open the folder (A-I) and
execute .bat file, and your G Pro 2 will reboot after done.
You can also preview the battery icon first by opening the png file.
You can flash back to original style by flashing "原版电量".

Hard Bricked need to edit .tot file!

hello,
I have an att g3 that I have been using on t-mobile.
Recently I installed the new safestrap-esque recovery and attempted to install a t-mobile stock based rom.
Little did I know it installed a boot image, therefore tripping the att boot security and not allowing it to boot. I tried to use lg flashtool and my device now identifies as a d85110c (t-mobile). is there any way to edit the bin and .dll or have the flashtool skip the device authentication so it thinks it is flashing d85110c firmware? otherwiae I am hard bricked with no return option.
thanks in advance.
It seems that there is a way to fix it after all! there is a dll file for the lg g2 that skis the check of which model your phone is. I used this dll in combination with the stock .tot file and it worked!

Guide to flash KDZ file: http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-flash-unbrick-lg-g-pro-2-with-a-kdz-firmware.html
Some issue they say fixed from the post in Chinese BBS forum is Edge issue fixed (previously only have gprs connection, no edge)
If you want to have root on Lollipop, you need to flash this zip file from custom recovery, follow the steps as below
http://lgviet.com/forum/threads/rom-d83820c_twn_pure-16gb-32gb-confirm.37488/
If you are on non rooted Lollipop and you want root, either wait for someone to find a way for it or flash back to KitKat then use custom recovery to flash the above zip file.
You can use above steps steps for flashing KDZ file or you can use below steps and file to flash using tot & DLL file
Flash using tot & DLL file http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-flash-lg-g-pro-2-with-a-tot-firmware.html
To get the KitKat 4.4 KDZ file, paste this into your web browser http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=xxx
Replace xxx = your imei number, to get the correct version for your phone.

Should be able to flash. But if cannot then you can flash TW 4.4.2 tot file first, then flash this 5.0.1 file.
Link to 32GB TW tot & DLL file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58665507&postcount=10
Only issue now would be how to restore backup data after flash to Lollipop, and also how to root it.
It seems both 16GB and 32GB of Taiwan versions are same.

It works fine on my device - D838-ESA. Now we are waiting for the recovery
mine is d83810f ESA version, not sure if i CAN flash this one or wait for OTA
Hi guys, I have D83810b-HKG-xx how much i have to wait for ota update?
Don't know, SEA version is also update-less for now.
We also only had the "10b" version of the firmware.
No c, d, e, f, whatever. Just "b".
Weird, how LG manages updates.
(I really hope they will be more transparent in the future. Like post changelogs, information about what changed, and push out updates all at once, for unlocked phones.)

You cannot root MM 6.0. Not sure what guide you where trying but there is no thread here that I seen for rooting a D850 with MM 6.0. I did find some websites in google with missleading click bait titles which have fake info. To root you will first need to downgrade the device using LGUP.

That's because you can only use LGUP. Flash tool will not work with MM. You need to use LGUP.

I'm confused? You'll use LGUP and the tot file for your model.

Yes but remember downgrading can be risky when it comes from the newer firmwares.
