[Completed] Need help with Nexus 4 CyanogenMod 12 - XDA Assist

I already install the CyanogemMod 12 on my nexus 4, it already installed for a past few weeks. And then some problems occur. The problem is when i connect my nexus 4 to PC via USB, it doesn't detected by my pc. It just detected as Other Devices -> 'Unknown Device'. I already try to change the port usb but it still give me same error. And then i try to go to Setting -> Storage -> USB computer connection, but it doesn't do anything. It just going back to storage. Usually after we click USB computer connection, it will go to some option like camera and mtp, but mine doesn't do anything. and i try to use ADB connect with developers debug mode and IP/TCP. it works, i can do 'adb reboot bootloader' but after that when i try to use 'fastboot oem unlock' it just 'waiting for device'. and when i use PdaNet, it can't detect my nexus 4. I hope some of you guys know about this problem and know the solution too.
Note : my nexus 4 just have some problem with soft keys (which i believe is hardware problem). I don't know if this is has some impact with my problem up there. and sorry for my bad english.

Help !! I cannot install a rom

Hello,
Few months ago , the power button of my nexus s had broken. I used volume rocker and I could turn on the screen.
Today I tried to flash a rom . I have done this before many times and I know the process.
After I had wiped all the data ( system , faxtory reset, cache) , I pulled off the battery.
When the phone starts it stucks on google logo , because there is no rom in it.
When I boot it into the fastboot mode , my pc cannot recognize it at all, I plug it in my pc and there is no sign that a new hardware has been installed.
I don't know what else to do. If I could get it recognized by my pc , I would be able to silve the problem.
Any suggestions on how can I fix it? Can I fix the fastboot mode problem????
Thanks for your time
I am looking forward hearing your replies...
If you don't have this installed on your PC already, you should install it and follow the directions for installing the drivers carefully. It worked for me.
P.S. this thread belongs in Q&A
Thanks for the reply but it cannot do anything. I posted here so as I can get help from developers who know more stuff than other users.
unless your thread is about ANDROID DEVELOPMENT ... IE your own ROM / KERNEL / MOD etc... it should be in q and a or general.
OP that is not how it works, posting in the Development Section because you believe the help is great there....WRONG! Sir, you will find the best help is in the proper place in the proper Threads....Please familiarize yourself with the Forum Rules on Posting. Thank You and Moved here.
When you connect your phone to your PC while it's in fastboot mode, if you haven't tried already, go to device manager (assuming your pc is running windows), there should be an unrecognized device in the list, if so you can right click on it and choose update driver, then select driver manually and navigate to the data/drivers folder where ever you have Wug's tool installed (if you don't have it installed then you should), that should properly install the drivers and allow your computer to recognize the phone, then you can use the flash stock+unroot option to repair your phone.
If you don't see any change in device manager when your phone is connected to your computer then I can't help much, maybe try a different usb port if you haven't already.
Good luck

[Completed] [Q] Galaxy S2 backup without display

Hi all,
Last weekend I started thinking about backing up my phone as I did not want to lose the data on there. Ofcourse I forgot to do it and today I dropped my phone so the screen is not working anymore... sigh. The device still functions because I just received a call while typing this :fingers-crossed:.
When I plug it in, it's recognized as a portable device (see attachment). However, I'm not able to access the storage or the SD-card.
What did I try sofar:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/backup-phone-broken-screen-t1348895
<edit> When trying the above, I receive an error message that no USB device was found.
Secondly, I have CWM installed but don't know which version as it's installed 2 years ago. I've read that I could blindely try to open the "Mount storage" option but well, no clue which option that would be.</edit>
I think the problem is that I need to enable the USB access to the storage. Any idea how I can bypass this?
Thanks in advance all!
Greets,
Phil
Ok, I've now found a thread on the forum about using ADB and booting in recovery mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2395047&page=2
Will try that in the meanwhile.
Tips still welcome!
Thanks again .
Think it is in recovery mode but ADB does not find it.
Hi,
Adb will only work if you have usb debugging enabled in developer options.
As far as solving your issue, you will need to ask in your device section for help...
Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 > Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Simply plugging into your pc should allow you to see your files. But if it won't for some reason, and adb won't work...not sure what other options there are...also, adb works in the regular system...only works in recovery if your custom recovery supports it...and yes, you need to enable the mode in recovery. Hard when you can't see the screen.
Good luck!
Thanks for your reply. Sorry for posting the thread in the wrong topic.
When I plug in the S2, I will only see the portable media player but not the files. I tried several times to get it into recovery yesterday but without succes.
What about using a cable from mini usb to HDMI? Will it work when I just connect it to my TV?
My last option is to just replace the display but they are quite expensive going from 65-100 euro's..
Tips still welcome, thanks again !

[Q] My Nexus 5 screen broke

Well, it happened
I was sitting on a bench and somehow my phone found a way to slide between my fingers and crash. (I must note that it dropped on the bench, which was like 10 cm max fall).
Anyway, I came home, plugged it into my computer and miraculously the phone works even though the screen is all crashed/pixelated/non-responsive.
Is there a way to control my phone with my computer? Like viewing everything on the computer itself?
There are some programs that I need to backup my files there in order to use them on my other phone.
Thanks!

Already tried it.
I can't see if I got into the recovery mode and cmd does not recognize what "adb shell" is.
Even if I somehow reach it (and I'm not sure if I really did) then on windows it gives me an error qhsusb_bulk (driver not found).

If you're seeing qhsusb_bulk in Windows there's more wrong with the phone than just the screen unfortunately. I think we're going to have to move your thread into the Nexus section so the Nexus experts can lend a hand. Please standby while we have your thread moved.
Good luck!

I finally managed to get into recovery mode. It seems like the "qhsusb_bulk" error is gone.
I tried using the adb shell but it doesn't recognize my phone even though device manager sees it perfectly fine.
Any help?
Maybe there is a chance that USB debugging is enabled so I just waste my time, how can I check?

Does the "adb devices" command return your serial number?

Nope, that's the problem I'm facing currently.
It just gives me an error "device not found".
There could be many reasons for that. Unfortunately I'm not terribly experienced with this phone so we'll need to wait for one of the Nexus experts to come and lend a hand.

Please Google "15 second adb installer". Use that to install adb drivers. Then open a command prompt. Make sure you navigate to where adb gets installed (usually in program files) then adb device
Edit: To check Developer Settings go to Settings then About phone. Tap your build number 7 times. This will enable developer options in settings. Turn on developer mode there.

Ummm that's kind of hard to do with a shattered display.
OP Just follow sandmans advice to get the drivers right and you'll be able to follow the tools instructions you're trying to use to enable USB debugging. If you just want your data off you could also just use:
Code:
adb pull /sdcard
Is your Bootloader unlocked?
If USB debugging is not enabled in Android and you can not enable it in android due to unreadable screen,
Your only option is to ADB shell from custom recovery such as TWRP.
You can only boot into custom recovery if your bootloader is already UNLOCKED.

Not really. There are some tools out there that let you view and control your screen on a PC.

Yes there are. The OP is trying to use one of them. He has a broken screen and is unable to use the screen on the device. He does not have USB Debug enabled. To use the program to mirror screen you need USB Debug enabled. See the catch-22 there? His only hope is to enable it via recovery and ADB. But as @joegestes points out if he's not already unlocked he needs to unlock for that. Unlocking wipes the phone. Another catch-22.
This thread is still alive?

[Completed] question about my nexus 6's drivers

When I connected my phone to the computer for the first time it said it was installing device drivers. When connected to unlock the boot loader however. It will say charging but continue to say connect USB. And I check device manager it tells me there are no drivers to install and that there are none on my phone? So very frustrated. Does anyone know why this is happening?

[Completed] How to unbrick Xperia S lt26i [not a noob]

I have a Xperia S running cm 12.1 with unlocked bootloaders TWRP installed and i tried to partition my SD card [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584759] but clearly something went wrong and now the phone wont boot. I made a lot of research and tried everything but all the guides require to be able to boot into flashmode . My phone is dead the only sign of life is a red led when its charging which after some hours of charge will shut off. When the light is off and the phone connected on PC, the PC can recognize the device on unspecified devices (QHSUSB_DLOAD). i have installed all the needed drivers from Sony, google drivers from sdk, and adb drivers(adb wont see the device and i tried everything to do so, but nothing seem to work). I got a market for android on my pc called mobogenie that when i connect the phone it detects that a phone is connected but wont see what phone. The hardware reset buttons work but its useless in the current position. Concluding, the phone is bricked and wont open in fastboot-flashboot-bootloader-TWRP, its recognized as a device but not as "Xperia s" i got all the drivers and i want to flash the original firmware (already downloaded) to fix it. A possible problem is that the partition table is destroyed and after the flash it will hopefully be restored. The problem is not on the hardware but on software. I tried to trigger the download mode with the Samsung way (USB jig, 300k ohm ) but nothing happened as expected. Every solution i found required flash mode which is not accessible at the moment and i tried lots of things to go into fastboot(ever the rubber band trick, remove the battery etc). PLEASE help i dont know what to do, please help me flash it (i already got flashtool, Emma) or anohter solution. Thanks for the help in advance. (its my first thread in the forum, i hope to post it on the right section, i posted it here because i need the assistance of the developers i guess)
