[Q] Anyone rooted a Alcatel a564c yet? - General Questions and Answers

I got this alcatel a564c from tracfone and wondered if anyone has rooted this phone? I have seen some old threads asking about it but not much about developing.
I have tried kingo root and I am trying others but other posts have said none work. The last one in November.
I am interested in any info on finding an exploit that I could test out. I dont have experience developing a root but I could learn.
Thanks!

Try the framaroot application. That application works for many devices. My Alcatel got rooted too

I tried it before but I just tried the latest 1.9.3 version. No good. Thanks though.

Using x-plore file manager you can download movies and what not to sd card. I have this phone and have downloaded numerous movies and software directly to sd card. Something about backdooring kitkat, this may or may not help with rooting but it does help to eliminate the 4gig headache.

I have set all the download locations to my 16gb sd card. But installed apps use only the 4gb provided. I have a tendency to fill that. There are also some issues with the default apps setting getting reset. And I can not use google voice over wifi without a cell connection.

No, seeing the root of the SD card does not mean that you have root access to Android itself

It's crazy that as long as this phone has been out......there's still no root for it. It's a shame that Google decided to "fix" the security issues that most of us never even knew existed by limiting what we can use as default app storage with no way to bypass the restriction unless you have root access. Hopefully someone comes up with the solution soon or I'll be thinking of exchanging my Alcatel A564C for something I can actually use.

[Q] where did visionary go?

now that we have a great "one click" root for the T-mobile G2. and im finally confident enough to go through and do the root for the phone. and lone and behold visionary is taken off the android market. NOT COOL! and i tried supposedly downloading the app, and drag and dropping it over to my phone. but i must have done something wrong because i can not find it in the apps. im new to this whole android rooting thing. and have had a little experiance with jailbreaking the iphone in the past. but this is a totaly different animal and i dont want to screw it up. so please guys any help? i need a how to for dummies at this point.
Update: Temporarily removed the r12 download link while a couple of people on XDA fix a non-booting issue
Info can be found on the modaco website, sorry cannot post the link since my account is not verified yet.
you can find info on it here: http://android.modaco.com/content/t...350/10-nov-r12-test-visionary-one-click-root/
since you're not using the market to install it you will need HTC Sync to install it on your phone OR put it on your SD card and use a file manager like ASTRO File Manager to browse your SD card for the .apk file and install it from there

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S Relay SD Card

Hello Everyone!
I've bought my new Samsung Galaxy S Relay yesterday, so i'm typing from my new QWERTY keyboard. I decided that i'll need some external space for my phone and bought a 16GB San Disk SD card. On my old Samsung Galaxy Mini there was a function in App Manager to "Move to SD" but here there's no such function. So how can i move them to SD. I've checked in the internet and i found that people were usually complaining about the phone not allowing them to move and the solution was to root the phone, but here i don't even have that function. Please, can someone help me to move my apps to my SD? All the answers are appreciated....
I also read in the internet that your android device automatically installs games on SD if it sees that you are running out of memory. If that's right please tell me cause i didn't fully load my phone memory.
My android version is 4.1.2(i guess that"s JellyBean)
P.S.:I know that the rooting could be the answer, but i am really against it because i bricked one of my phones by rooting so i don't want that to happen.

Look up FolderMount in the Play Store. That's the best solution for your issues.
As for the risks of rooting: nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Thanks for your respond dear orange808. I tried the FolderMount app and it requires root. So i guess the only thing i could do is rooting, but i still don't want to root my phone so i'll deal with my 5 GB internal storage...Thanks anyway, this could be useful for others
OK guys i decided to root my phone cause i can't just sit and stay calm knowing that i could be playing Asphalt8 or Real Racing3(maybe). So after rooting(i didnt root it yet) what apps should i use to move my apps or will "Move to SD" function be available after rooting?
Ok, so i see nobody wants to help, so i did all by myself. I succesfully rooted my phone then downloaded the app called root external 2 internal sd.So everything is fine now, i have a lot of memory. Also Titanium Backup is a good app to delete some crap on the phone(I'm sure most of you are familliar with this app, but just in case somebody doesnt know). So I hope this was useful.
I can help you

I can help, since I was sorta reluctant like you. Here are a few things you could do:
1) Link2SD is proven to work-it does on my SGH-T699. But you need not only root access, but a second partition on your extSDcard. By the way, the "Move to SD" command does not exist in the Relay's hardware or software. But with Link2SD, you can create symbolic links instead via the second partition. That can be done by using Mini Tool Partition wizard (free but some functions are limited)
2)You need a microSD full size adapter.
3)A media reader, internal or USB will do.
For root:
You need Odin. Odin allows you to flash recoveries (Like CWM- the latest version for apexqtmo is 6.0.3.8) and entire ROMs. Search around XDA and I'm sure you will find the links required to do all this. This is my second post, so I'm unfamiliar with citing other threads.
If you need more help, I'll be happy to.

I use foldermount and have no issues with Real Racing 3 and other huge games, it works nicely.
Link2SD does something similar, but does FolderMount require root access? The Relay does not support native Apps2SD, so since Link2SD worked so well for me, I suggested it. Good suggestion, though.
Maybe I was too long winded.

Thanks for answering and good advices. I find the "Root External 2 Internal" app great too, you just have to learn how to use it(you can google it and im sure you will find the instructions).
I dont know much about android working stuff, so the rooting for me was a big risk and i dont think if theres any risk of bricking my phone whileflashing recoveries i would prefer not to do that.
I wish everyone Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Great Holidays!!!

By the way about Real Racing 3. The game works and plays perfect on my phone, but the stupid Google Play says its incompatible(i hope i spelled it right) with my phone. So i went to download it from other sources. Its not just the RR3, the GTA SA works perfectly, GTA VC, GTA 3, and there are a lot more games i dont remember, anyways, the question is if theres any app that can change it by root access(make it compatible) or something like that?
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried forcing a link via Titanium Backup? If you enjoy tinkering with apps at that level, then I would even buy the $5.99 USD key. This unlocks more features to come. This app (and its key) is available via Google Play. Search "titanium backup" and those will be the top two results.
Good luck.

Yeah... I dunno why. I installed RR3 from play on my Xperia Pro, then backed up the apk, and then moved to the Glide, and now to the Relay and I have the same question. Why the hell is it "not compatible"?

I guess the phone is too old for them to care about it. But i found an app called BLACKMART ALPHA which a) allows you to download paid apps for free(not all apps from play store are included but most of them are) b)doesnt care if your phone is compatible or not with the app (Like it allows me to download rr3 or gta sa) c)if theres an update in the playstore it appears in it so you can easy update apps from there.
I couldnt find the app from google play (maybe because i wasnt looking for it carefully) but you can easily find it by google search.
Hope this will work for everyone.

If you're partitioning your SDCard in this instance, can you partition it evenly? Like say if you have a 64GB SDCard, and partition it into two 32GB isolated sectors? I know the Relay can only see up to 32GB (there's a thread that tells you ways around it, though), but in this instance, would it see two 32GB sectors? Or, would you have to take a regular 32GB SDcard and divide it into two 16GB sectors?
You can determine the size yourself. It entirely depends on how much you want to allocate. If you've followed the instructions quoted, any size is possible. Just leave enough for your other needs that aren't related to link2sd. If my advice helps you and others hit "thanks" please. Good luck, I'll keep checking in periodically.

The relay supports 64 GB SD Cards. Works fine with mine formated to ext4. I've filled it to capacity several times.
I know. I was just saying that he can put aside any of that 64 GB for use with apps2sd symbolic links.
EpicMike, I'd be interested as to how you fare in this process. It would educate me for sure. I currently use Link2SD for my symbolic links, but every ROM update temporarily disconnects these links. They are easily re-established by recreating the mount scripts within the app. Just thought you should know.

Thanks everyone in advance.
There is a clock package elsewhere on xda. Just Google 'ported clock package jb' and click the first xda link visible. It should look like [PORT] at the beginning of the link. Follow all instructions and warnings on the thread. Click the correct links for your OS version, then you could use your recovery to flash the zip file. Or you could go to the play store and check out the clocks there. Should've said THAT first.
Good luck.

[How to]LG G3 correct trouble accessing external sd card...

This is NOT an issues with your LG device, rather it was a decission made by Google that will most likly be fixed in Android L.
If you're rooted or plan on rooting your G3, this app from the Play store will easily fix access for you.
This app is what I used and it worked fine within seconds. However if you would rather do this manually, follow these steps:
I use Root Explorer , however, most any file manager should work.
System>etc>permissions>platform.xml
Then add the following, to the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE section.=:
<group gid=”media_rw” />
Thanks Tony! And sorry about the S4 again

This version (AT&T) has no alternative roms. Please don't confuse the issue by saying "flash back to stock rom".
Glad this helped you with your sd card.
I think he was referring to flashing the stock Rom with flash tool to reset the root counter
Yep there is a stock Rom and you flash it with LG flash tool. Don't see anything confusing about what I said. If it confused someone then they can ask questions

While stock firmware is a rom, it is best to call it firmware. this is mainly for the sake of new users becoming confused and looking for roms to flash. This would be where one need go, in the case of any mishap.:good:
This all said, rest assured to those looking at this thread, using one of the apps from the market will not corrupt your system.
What sd card problem is it? I just bought it last week so I am not aware of it. And Google Play is link not working.
Copied from androidcentral
Why your SD card doesn't work the same in Android 4.4 KitKat, and the reasons for the change
"Curse you, Google! Your KitKat update broke my SD card!"
Poke around the Android section of the Internet and you'll hear something similar. Users like you and me are in an uproar because they updated their phone to Android 4.4 KitKat, and now the SD card support has changed. Apps no longer work, folks have problems with cameras and music players, and while everyone else is saying "Oh, yeah. That's how it works now," nobody warned them in advance before they grabbed that update.
There is a lot of push against these changes, with petitions and threats of grassroots movements that threaten to show Google the error of its ways — even a very popular developer that I won't name has their PR people sending out requests for blogs to write about evil Google.

[Q] Cannot access SD-Card in Galaxy Core 2 SM-G355H ?

Hello folks, i have Galaxy Core 2 SM-G355H and i have rooted my phone and installed the CWM recovery, which i think has done good.
Even the phone after being rooted hasn't done me any good.
I had initially started a topic here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core/help/copy-to-ssd-samsung-galaxy-core-2-sm-t3033178
But the OP hasn't been able to give me some working solutions.
So i am asking to anyone who knows about this stuff. I have rooted and installed CWM recovery, that still given me authority
over my SD-Card, i cannot copy/paste/delete/rename basically access it fully.
The only way i can do is, remove the SD-Card and insert in a Card reader and copy/paste/delete etc.
But i cannot directly do from phone itself.
I already have fX Explorer, Solid explorer and ES File Explorer.
Nothing has worked, so i am asking can anyone show me how to do that.
I would be grateful for your suggestion.
Awaiting reply.

The FS /system and other too is/are readonly (ro) in device, so if u want to delete or copy inside this partition u must change it to rw (readwrite), it's better for you to use some Explorer root based application like FX Explorer with root addon ...
If u have copied the update zip to extSdCard and run the update procedure in stock recovery U should be able to copy/edit/delete files on your extSdCard - Card if the install were sucessfull.
For a check: Install app https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...=nextapp.sdfix and check again things now U'r rooted. Regards

I have already installed at least a dozen of explorer, most promising was fx explorer with it free root access add-on, the other was ES File
explorer. They both can't copy/paste files to Memory card.
My device is Galaxy Core 2 SM-G355H, Android 4.4.2. I have already rooted and installed CWR mode, but i havn't flashed my firmware.
I am searching now for a possible firmware update, that could access memory card.
Could you do a small part from your side and find a firmware that can be flashed in my device, i will try from my side. :good:
Will update , if i find some solution.

All of the stock firmwares uses KK RO acess for SdCard unless U install some custom & fixed ones.
Have also provided many tutorials in the subforums detaily how to fix it for GC2 models.
Latest firmwares uses some extra functionality regarding SDCards, fix will not work unless ...
Enjoy.

OK, thanks for the statement. I accept, i am a newbie here. I can figure my way through most of the other forum out there.
But one pertaining to Mobile device require's little more knowledge, because its tricky, since there are a huge number of devices.
I am not a regular visitor.
Anyways, i found a firmware for my device.
Link:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G355H/
http://samsung-updates.com/details/42605/Galaxy_Core_2/SM-G355H/INS/G355HXXU0AOC1.html
The second link to the firmware matched the hashes to the link in the first link.
Did the Odin thing, and all the necessary steps. But still i am not able to copy/paste/delete etc function.
So i technically give up for this device, i'll use it as it is.
@StratOS_HTC: I tried the KitKat access app from Google Play store, a number of them. But they all showed similar results.
But i'll be open to your opinion.
Thank you.:good:

As said and will said again :
Please read carefully !
Hope your phone works ok and everything else on phone is ok.
If you can't access your extSdCard throught phone do a low level format ( and hope you don't use 64 GB ).
Hope also you don't use any other EXT partition on your sdcard. or any other sd linkage or swap options on your sdcard
Format the sdcard as only extFAT or FAT on any other comp card reader and reformat it on the phone !
Now you should be able to access the sdcard on your phone if every thing else on phone is ok.
If U'r rooted on stock ( KitKat sdcard restriction ) and if U have installed nextapp.sdfix and grant su access to it the app will change this permissions for you and you will be able to aceess rw to sdcard now.

Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30GC Lollipop ROM issue with SD card?

I've read that those flashing the SP Flash Tool image end up getting the external SD locked out from having write access. I'd like to try out the ROM for myself as I, too, am struggling with the touch panel, yet I wouldn't want to root it either as my tablet's still under warranty.
To sum things up, is it normal for the Lollipop ROM to have restricted SD card access?

As much as I hate Kingoroot, try rooting it with that tool and then use one of those Kitkat SD fixes floating around the Play Store. Cracktech also has those pre-fixed ROMs but you might want to contact him in order to get it.
