Hi, I am completely screwed.
I have a standard Z3, not the variants.
I accidentally deleted the OS and I have CWM installed. Pushing the volume down key does not go into Flash Mode. It just freezes the phone. Pushing the volume up key goes into Recovery.
I tried my ways and there is no way to flash an FTF on my phone. Searching the forums didn't help. Only way is to flash a .zip file. I tried making one by following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/noob-tutorial-how-to-create-cwm-t2183077
I did everything I could and I followed the instructions.
Still no luck, my home made .zip gave me an error upon flashing it through recovery.
I'm MOD EDIT for life. $700 phone, 1 month old, dead.
I want stock rom to use Sony's features. What should I do now that I have nothing but a brick?

If you can enter recovery just flash one of the pre-rooted flashable zips that knocking about the forums.

Alright, I flashed the rom, but it still won't boot. When I boot, it shows "Sony - Xperia" and then a purple light flashes and vibrates once, and the whole thing freezes unless I hard reset it by pressing the yellow button on the SD card slot. Any clue what to do next?
And sorry for "swearing," didn't know it was not allowed here.
I might have wiped BOOT partition, but I don't think I did. Anything else to fix the problem?

I flashed "D6603_23.0.1.A.5.77_Generic_DE-Root-XZDR2.8.1-SuperSU-signed.zip." Surprisingly, it took only a second to flash via CWM.
How do I show you the output via flashtool?
And do you think you can help me through teamviewer and skype? I'll probably pay you $20 through paypal if you can fix my phone. I recently got paid last week from work.

Sorry, I didn't know you flashed it through CMW
What kernel are you on know?
If it only took a second to flash then it did not do it properly.
How big is the file? Try downloading it again, what did CMW say after it had finished
How do I check what kernal I'm in?
The file is 1.17GB in size. Re-downloading it as we speak.

It will be the one that you flashed in fastboot. I take it you have unlocked the boot, that's how you are getting into recovery.
You can attaché the phone to flashtool with it turned on and that should tell you the kernel version. Please post the output here
Try going to recovery and wiping everything and then flashing again.
Also make sure you mount system in recovery, its in the mounts and storage bit of recovery
It doesn't say the Kernel version when attached.

So I formatted boot, system, cache, and data under Mounts and Storage Menu.
I then installed the .zip. Here's the log:
Finding update package...

Install from sdcard complete.
Under Mounts and Storage Menu, I mounted everything. Now it shows:
- unmount /sytem
-unmount /cache
-unmount /data
-unmount /storage/sdcard1
Still same error after reboot. When I boot, it shows "Sony - Xperia" and then a purple light flashes and vibrates once, and the whole thing freezes unless I hard reset it by pressing the yellow button on the SD card slot.

Ok, install the drivers for flashmode, fastboot and xperia Z3 for flashtool.
Do this by running drivers.exe in C:\flashtool\drivers
Then goto the folder where you downloaded the update.zip from and download the generic global FTF. https://mega.co.nz/#F!5JRBgDaY!o5gqM8qVj6zkvMzFP9bvsA the second one in the list.
Flash that in flashtool, ensuring the phone is in flashmode (Phone off, load the FTF in flashtool, ensure the options to wipe everything are ticked and nothing is excluded) wait until flashtool prompts you to connect in flashmode, then do so by attaching phone to USB whilst pressing the volume down button.
Post the output from flashtool here.
As I said before, Flashmode is impossible on my phone with CWM installed. Holding down volume down button goes to CWM as well as holding up the volume button. In CWM, you can choose "Flashtool" but there is no option for Flashmode.
drivers.exe only show up to Z2. No Z3.

Update your flashtool
You do not power on the phone when you attach it to the computer, leave it turned off and just hold the volume down button. It should not turn on.
When you are in CMW where do you see a flashtool option? That makes no sense what so ever. Please attach an image of what you mean
Sorry, I meant bootloader option. Bootloader = flashboot mode.
It's easy to enter flashboot mode, but I can't find a way to enter flash mode.
I followed your instructions by plugging in usb and holding down volume down key. Doesn't work. What else should I do. ;_;

What is flashboot mode? Do you mean fastboot?
Please try flashing the FTF and go through the process I said and add the output from flashtool here. Do not attaché the phone in flashmode until flashtool prompts you. I have asked several times for this...
Sorry, I meant fastboot. My bad.
What do you mean by "Do not attaché the phone in flashmode until flashtool prompts you."
I don't get it. The phone won't even go to flash mode, so what am I supposed to do? Phone only goes to fastboot through CWM.
I'm sorry if I frustrated you, but I followed your instructions carefully, I really did!

Download the Xperia drivers above, or install Sony's PC companion. These contain the software for your computer to understand what the phone is when it is connected. Open Flashtool and use the original FTF for your phone. If you're not sure which firmware FTF that is, use XperiFirm to download the correct software for your phone. Once the FTF loads in Flashtool, it will prompt you to plug the powered-down phone in while holding the volume down button.

I mean do not attempt to do it until flashtool prompts you to attach it.
I know you say it wont work but I want to know what flashtool says.
In order to help you I need this info, please update flashtool, install flashmode, fastboot and Z3 drivers
Then load the FTF file ready to flash in flashtool and WAIT until flashtool says to attach the phone.
DO THIS BY TURNING THE PHONE OFF, HOLDING VOLUME DOWN AND ATTACHING THE USB CABLE, there is no need to attach the phone before you get the prompt from flashtool
EDIT
also, you cannot enter fastboot mode through CMW, you need to show me an image of what you mean here. (As I have already asked) because what you are saying makes no sense....
I am not frustrated, you just need to do what I said and ATTACH outputs from flashtool and show me images of what you mean by fastboot through CMW, show me...
I installed all 3 drivers. I'm on the "Wait for Flashmode" screen. I plugged in my phone and held down the volume down button. Purple light flashes and phone vibrates once. Then the phone freezes.
Next option, I I plugged in my phone and repeatedly pressed down volume down button. Purple light flashes and phone vibrates once. Then the phone goes to CWM Recovery v6.0.4.7.
What should I do. Nothing works!! >.<

Phone will not switch on ...
Tried unlocking the boootloader following instructions from the Sony website,
after "sucessfully" unlocking the bootloader in flashboot mode the phone got stuck in a boot loop.
Eventually stopped the phone boot looping by pressing all the buttons at the same time, have now found out it is the two volume buttons and the power button, then the phone did not switch on at all, tried connecting and holding volume button etc, to USB but all that comes up in device manager is "unknown device" and the flash tool does not recognise it in any mode, found out that holding the power button down for five minutes reboots the phone. Then flashed with above firmware and ended up in another bootloop, holding the up volume and power button makes the phone vibrate once then three times, let go after one and then you can get into flashmode, this time I flashed the latest firmware from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2762296 and it worked.

[Drivers] FlashTool Xperia Driver Pack (v1.5) [20140318]
D2305_18.0.A.1.30_Global Generic by Sai Arkar←This FTF file is most important
Help please?
Hi man, I need your help urgently... I tried flashing kernel image to my Xperia M2 D2303, but I got impatient as recovery mode wasn't coming on and I did in in fastboot mode instead. Now it's stuck on boot loop and the screen only flashes. I can't get it to connect to my computer either, my computer just doesn't recognize it anymore. So, I can't flash anything on to it to recover it now either, and I tried putting files into my SD card to restore from but those files won't show when I try to download from zip using Clockwork Mod. What should I do?
Update
I tried to flash a custom rom into it, but even though I remember turning USB debugging on, it seems it's off. And plus, the drivers link you gave don't include the Xperia m2 drivers.
It would not connect to Flash modehttp://dl-1.va.us.xda-developers.com/2/9/8/5/4/7/8/NewPicture002.jpg?key=xzdzp41r6BQtbbijWRPtQA&ts=1414307092
Could You please update link for :

Thank You
Hello and welcome to my issue.
Status:
Z3, Locked bootloader
When plugged in wall charger, phone shows constant red led and charging animation.
When turned on, it goes into a bootloop (Sony Logo --> "powered by android" --> Bootanimation, freezes after 3 seconds, after two seconds boot sequence starts again.
Bootloop can be stopped by pressing volume up + on/off --> 3 vibrations.
Not shown in windows 7 or windows 8.1
Not shown in clean install of flashtool on those windows machines
No recovery (?)
No flashmode (?)
What I tried:
Complete discharge (by letting bootloop run for hours)
Get to flashmode between two bootloops.
Flash only Kernel
Plugg into PC and press volume down a million times
Press every button combo by plugging/unplugging a million times
How I got myself in this situation:
I was on stock kit kat rom and flashed this prerooted lollipop rom with dual recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/d...0-690-t3056361
Then I run this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=3837 and everything worked fine.
I set up my phone and went in and out of recovery.
I then read that to get xposed to work I have to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=3034811 right after the rom without booting.
So i flashed the rom again, wiping only cache and dalvik, flashed superuser flashed xposed, wiped caches and rebooted.
Booting worked fine and I wanted to reboot into recovery again. I forgot to flash the recovery-fix before doing so. That's when I started getting bootloops.
I really hope somebody can help me out here. I do have insurance on the phone and will get a new one if I have to, but I'm on vacation for the next two weeks and need the phone. If you have any idea, please share it with me.
Use PCCompanion to repair your phone
Or use flashtool to flash a stock FTF
Use the volume up and power button together for 30 seconds to stop the bootloop

Have you run the drivers.exe from the drivers folder? If not do so and select Z3, flashmode and fastboot drivers.
Just attach the phone whilst turned off, then detach and attach in flashmode, then detach and attach in fastboot mode.
Please attach flashtool log here after doing that
Also go to the folder where you extracted the dual recovery installer, open a cmd window attach the phone with USB and type

If the phone can boot loop it should be able to go into flashmode.
Leave it on charge (A wall charge not USB) for 24 hours. Then try attaching in flashmode again.

somehow it seems like you didn't try fastboot mode yet. (you only said flashmode)
try this:
(make sure you got the "fastboot" and "flashmode" drivers installed (coming with the flashtool)
battery needs some juice
power off phone completely with power + volume up (hold it until it's off)
hold volume up, connect the usb cable
(you migh need to wait until the driver is registered in windows)
flash this using fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/root-stock-flashable-kernel-23-1-0-690-t3061678
enter recovery, and wipe everything despite external sd.
install another rom.

Correct. And still no luck. Do you have any other suggestions? Otherwise I'll go to the seller tomorrow and hope my insurance is as good as I think it is...
Have you tried "adb shell" and then "reboot recovery" when phone in "powered by android"? Yesterday I was with same problem and I got recovery by doing that. Locked BL as well.
Flash a stock FTF, not possible? LED does not give two color blink indicating its in flashmode?
In flashtool, it will ask you to power down the phone and hold Vol+Down while inserting cable? (Not connect cable THEN vol+down)
Hmm, seems like a common problem, have just had the same occurrence.
I have powered down the phone, so that's fine. Is there any way I can get into recovery from this off state?
Thanks in advance.

Hello There
I had the same problem and this what I did
1. Pushed the yellow button beside the SD card and the phone turned off leave it for about 15-20
min to make sure that it completely shut down
2. Prepared Flashtool with what ever .ftf I need in my case I chose KK
3. I put my phone in flashmood and I flashed the .ftf
4. It took about 10-15 to just restart again after flashing
5. I waited 1 day to let every thing run smooth then downgraded and rooted.
Good Luck
Okay so I have a UK unlocked Z5 that was running 5.1.1. I decided I wanted to update to MM so I downloaded the ftf file and started flashing. It got to system.sin and said there was an error, my phone rebooted and gave me an update failed error message. But now I can't get back into flashmode. If I hold the volume down button and plug it in nothing happens, nothing happens if I try to power on with vol down and power, just goes to the update failed message. I've tried everything I can think of. My computer doesn't detect the phone, can't get into flashmode, can't boot the phone.
Any suggestions or do I now own a brick?
Would be helpful if we knew the error. Hold the volume up and power till it vibrates 3 times. Plug into a wall charger for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes try to flash again
The phone won't boot at this time because there is no system
It's only soft brick you won't get hard brick with a bad flash

When I plug into a power socket there's no LED to show it's charging, it doesn't turn automatically when i plug it into the computer. Holding vol down and plugging in does nothing.
It was on 80% charge when I started the flash.
Do you have the latest flashtool?
If yes Try to download another firmware maybe the one you have is corrupted.
And here is the original flashtool thread maybe you can search for similar problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746

Doesn't matter if there is led or not plug it in for 30 minutes in a wall socket and try flashing again also like gm007 said if that doesn't work try redownloading the firmware or another.
80% maybe but from experience if there is an error it can quickly go to 0% and it's the process of elimination

I've downloaded another FTF file. It's plugged into the wall with no response. Flashtool doesn't detect the phone atm and I can't get into flashmode
Try a pc with Windows 7, or run flashtool in Windows 7 compatability mode if ur running Windows 10.
I'm running Mac. Tried Windows 10 in a virtual machine and no response. I'll try using bootcamp next, it's still plugged in. No LED response yet
Do you know the turn off button near sim tray? Try it.
I think the phone still is on but hangs up. I sometimes get this trouble when flashing my T2.
Nope, the phone's turned off. Power and vol up turns it off and the button does the same thing. Still doesn't work. I'm just leave it plugged in an pray.
Find a Windows pc and try.
Using bootcamp with Windows 10. Still nothing. Tried Windows 7 compatibility mode. Nothing comes up in device manager either.
Are you using sonys official flash tool, if yes then it will most likely not work. Make sure you're using androxyde's flashtool, if it's stuck during getting device information, plug out your device, select the FTF and when it asks you the connect the device, connect it
My update failed originally. Had that 'update failed' error you seem to be describing... Phone won't boot just shows the failed message etc... Connected it to Xperia companion (not pc comapnion) and did a repair.

I had the exact same problem when i flashed 6.0 on top of 5.1.1. I resolved the issue by flashing 5.1.1 and then 6.0.
I would seriously recommend you try it on a legit windows computer
download and install the latest flashtool with the latest patch
disable windows signature and install flashtool drivers
you would need to find an alternative method to install xperia z5 drivers since PC Companion will not recognize it
gl
Okay so I left the device plugged in to the wall overnight, now instead of coming up with the sony screen and the message about failed update, the LED just flashes red 3 times. Tried in windows with the non-sony flashtool, still not detecting the device. The device won't go into flashmode, there's no response from plugging it into the computer holding vol down, no response when plugging into power. Please any help?

Nope. No fastboot mode either.
Edit: I THINK IT'S FIXED. So I did a lot (a lot) of googling and found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170 so I thought I would try it. I got to the part about removing the battery and was a bit cautious but then my bootloader is already unlocked so my warranty is already void. I just removed the back panel and disconnected the battery, left it for a few minutes and plugged it back in. All of a sudden the LED turned green and it went into flashmode! I've plugged it into the wall again and the red constant charging led is there but the phone keeps trying to power on so it stops charging, gives me the software update failed screen, turns off again and tries to charge then repeats. How can I get it to not turn on and just charge? Problem not 100% solved but it's a step in the right direction.
I already had a Cyanogen ROM on my Xperia Z5 and was browsing the forum here and saw a Paranoid android ROM so I wanted to try that. I had CWM recovery on it, went into recovery and wiped the necessary parts. Then flashed the rom zip and the gapps. After that I rebooted but the phone kept shutting down and only blinking a red light.
So I connected it to my computer and put it in Flash mode, used Flashtool to put it back to stock. While stock was being flashed on it and halfway it gave an error (which I don't remember) and the phone booted. I assumed it was correct, it gave the white screen with the 'Sony'. After that came a black screen with the 'update failed, please connect to a computer'.
This screen is on for half a second. Then the screen turns off and the same process begins with the sony and then error. This keeps looping when charging or connected to a computer. The Xperia Companion doesn't help and I can't get it in flash mode of fastboot. It is hardbricked and what should I do?
If you need more information I'd be happy to provide it asap.
Edit: It's the same problem with as this thread only the solutions provided won't work

Thanks for the reply and helping me find a way out!
However, when the phone is off and I hold the power button and volume up noting happens at all. This combination only works if I want to shut the phone down.
And I don't think the problem is within the firmware but within the device, because you have to enter flash mode to use Flashtool and the phone won't enter flash mode (or fastboot) anymore. I can't flash anything atm.
No luck here on xda or anywhere on the internet. So I'm sending it to sony hoping they can fix it....

Make sure you have the latest twrp. Download from here: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/maple/ the twrp-3.2.3-0-maple.img. Copy/move the image to your platform-tools. To flash the recovery use: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.3-0-maple.img afterwards close fastboot and unplug your device then press and hold pwr and Vol- until the device vibrates (if you press and hold 'til twrp appears doesn't matter) and it should work.
Hi,
I have a similar problem, searching for solutions now since days and have read tons of tutorials, but nothing helped so far.
Have unlocked my XP Premium, have put it into developer mode and activated USB debugging.
Have installed latest drivers and get a reply (<unlock code> device) when I type "adb devices" in the command window of the platform-tools directory. With "adb reboot bootloader" the phone goes into fastboot mode (blue led is on).
Downloaded the related / appropriate twrp image on my pc (into platform-tools directory) and typed "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img". Got the message <waiting for any device> and nothing else happens.
SuperSU App on my phone says "Root undetected".
Hope you have an advice......

I have tried several times to install and deinstall various drivers that seemed appropriate.
Tried it just again with the drivers from this link
gsmusbdrivers.com/download/adb-fastboot-drivers
(I am yet not allowed to write the complete link)
Installation process completed without errors but it doesn´t changed anything.
I am using Windows 10 and in the device manager I see the Sony driver ("Sony sa0116 ADB Interface Driver").
I also have a section with "Android Device" which contains "Android ADB Interface", "Android Bootloader Interface" and "Android Composite ADB Interface".
Should I see Fastboot drivers somewhere?
Remark: I also tried Flashtool.
When I start the software it says
"Device connected with USB debugging on
Connected device : Sony Xperia XZ Premium
Installed version of busybox : N/A
Android version : 9 / kernel version : 4.4.148-perf+ / Platform : 64bits / Build number : 47.2.A.8.24
Root access denied"
Adb interface is obviously for adb. Still sounds like a fastboot issue cause it'll say adb fastboot, fastboot device etc. When I install my drivers I try doing an advanced reboot and selecting disable driver verification so Google can bugger off and not fail my driver installs. If your having a driver issue that's where I would start. Also put phone in fastboot mode and run command fastboot devices and see what it says. If blank something is still wrong

Try doing this when you have your phone in fast boot and connected to your computer:
1. Go into devices manager and find the 'Android phone' icon
2. Right click on it and select 'update driver software'
3. Now select 'browse my computer for driver software'
4. Then select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'
5. Then double click on 'Android bootloader interface' and press OK.
I think that should do it I had a similar problem.

Today I had the time for analyzing further with my phone.
Thanks lonewolfbtown for your suggestions.
I started with jaskaranb.jb´s tip first because is seems easier to do.
And: SUCCESS!!!!
I finally now got a reply when preforming fastboot commands.
I am really happy because now it seems I am almost done!
Only drawback is that I now get ´Flashing is not allowed in Lock State´ after I carried out the command "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" (where twrp.img is the appropriate twrp image for this phone).
The phone is definetly bootloader unlocked. I more than doublechecked this during the last weeks in the service menue (*#*#7378423#*#*).

I had the same issue unfortunately it does mean ur bootloader is locked. You can check sony's website to see how to unlock it. The *#*#7378423#*#* tells u if you can unlock it or not if it says yes then your phone has the ability to be unlocked. But big WARNING before unlocking bootloader - JUST MAKE SURE TO DO UR RESEARCH ON DIFFERENT FORMS HOW TO UNLOCK IT. Because I unlocked it through sony's website and I rushed through it, so now my drm keys got deleted (with this some phone features go missing like video enhacment, camera only takes green photos and some more features that I'm not aware of). I fixed my camera by flashing Android 9.0 stock firmware on my phone (idk if other features are back).

I am absolutly sure that my phone ist unlocked because exactly this keeps it saying everytime I re-checked it through the service menue (as I wrote in my last sentence). In fact this part I did over and over again.
Regarding the photo and video issue you mentioned I noticed a lot of helpful links during my comprehensive search through all kind of forums regarding my locked issue.

No, it starts with the sequence I know from beginning.
First the white screen with "Sony", than whithe screen with "powered by android", then white screen with Xperia logo.
Finally got it!!!
The solution was: due to my fastboot driver problems at the beginning of the whole unlock thing I haven´t really inserted the unlock code.
So now I did and everything is fine: now I do have this warning message about booloader unlock when I start the phone.
Thanks for your support!!!

To access TWRP on the phone after flashing, I press Power and Volume- button as long as I see the TWRP screen.
This could take some seconds (10 - 20), depends on the state the phone is in at that time.

If the TWRP is successful flashed on your phone than it shut worked - unplugged - at described.
At least this works for me (it really takes some time).
Otherwise you might need to use adb / fastboot commands to access the phone again.

I finally made entering twrp, doing nothing special, maybe I just needed a fresh reboot.
Actually I am experiencing problems with rooting, SuperUser did not work so i gave a try with magisk but to get it work I had to flask a stocke kernel that resulted in a wrong build. Now i have to flash a new ROM and start all over ..

Flashed with newflasher and installed magisk. Everything ok now
So I have tried installing twrp on my G8141. After fastboot boot recovery.img, phone rebooted and hangs at SONY logo. My problem now is that no key combination whatsoever seems to do anything now. What can I do? Wait for the battery to drain and then restart?
