[Q] Unknown Baseband/IMEI, No Data, No WiFi, No Bluetooth - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just unlocked bootloader of my Oneplus One 64GB Global Version and flashed TWRP Recovery, I forgot to take backup of EFS, and installed custom ROM (ColorOS) via fastboot,
Everything worked correctly but I lose network, there is no network, even if SIM card installed, WiFi never turns ON, bluetooth turns on but not discoverable, even after make it visible, nor it can find other bluetooth devices nearby,
Baseband version and IMEI number is unknown, After disaster I came to know that I must backup efs partition, On xda guys are saying that modemst1.bin and modemst2.bin are that files which I didnt backed up and they are unique to each devices, so I somebody's else backup won't be helpful
This didn't worked for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fix-brickloop-audio-fx-fc-efs-corrupt-t2879061
So now, I have not network on my phone and not any backup, so are there any chance here to get it work back
I have attached some screenshots taken from this device

the guys in service center were not able to fix this, they asked me give device to them and that they will further send device to company. And it will take about 15 - 20 days, I didn't give phone to them, do not expect anything from guys on service center, they can't help you,
And please tell me too when you devices got fixed or replaced

You sure? It will be great if you could point out something. I have tried the guide from "markbencze"
I have also submitted a ticket to Oneplus in the meanwhile.

Also, shouldn't flashing to stock or any other ROM clear and rebuild all the system files?

Same Problem Here.
I did exactly like what you did. Flash color os after unlocking the device, and now i lose my imei :crying:
anyone can help? Thanks.

efs corruption is a *****.
unfortunately i am not aware of any fix for it, happens when flashing a rom on occasion. i did it to a note before and it broke my heart. only way is if you have a backup of your efs.tar file and putting it into the efs file generated in the androids home directory file.

Had the same issue.. Recovered Wifi with "fastboot erase modemst1" and "fastboot erase modemst2", but still no data. Have you solved?

There is a thread for that :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/imei-wifi-baseband-thread-t3076640
You can put your imei back.

Bro same issue... If u can help me.

[Q] No Mobile Data - using ViperOneS_v1.2.0

Hi there, yes I am a noob here but I searched this and couldnt find anything.
I flashed two HTC one S phones and am having the same issue with both. Everything works great except the mobile data.
Mobile data is turned on in settings, but says disconnected. Wifi works great, the phone makes calls, just no mobile data.
I searched networks and it sees my network "Fido" and even registers with Fido, but it still says disconnected next to the Mobile Data option in settings.
I will try calling our provider I suppose but I am stuck at this point..
I have also wiped cache, and dalvik cache and did a full wipe at install.
Recovery - CWM 5.8.3.1
ROM - ViperOneS_v1.2.0
Please help!
Sorry guys. I got it.
I had to search the carrier specific APN settings and manually enter them.
I didnt read anything about that anywhere and like I said... Im still a noob.
thanks
you dont have by any chance a nandroid backup with the original settings of your fido phone.
or at least the original build.prop

I did a backup from the "backup and restore" option within CWM recovery, just after I had unlocked and rooted. I had not yet installed the the Viper ROM, which leads me to believe it probably still had the correct settings at that time, but not sure.
wow, can you please put that backup somewhere online?
or at least take out the build.prop file from /system folder
pleaseee
PS: CWM recovery just sucks on this model; better use TWRP
If you post the backup Trashking, make sure you note it was made with CWM and needs restored with CWM. As, most of us use TWRP recovery--
so, don't want to make it available for others?

Im also abit worried this backup may contain personal information, as Im not sure I did a full wipe until I installed the rom. This backup was done after I had unlocked and loaded CWM. I'd like to be sure none of my crap is getting posted.
Also,
Can you please explain why CWM is crap for this model? It seems to work fine on mine but perhaps im missing something.
Upon further review, it seems the reasons most people prefer TWRP over CWM for interface reasons.
Im not sure im worried about that.
I have to disagree with a few posts here, you can do everything the same way with both recoveries. You don't need to flash the boot image in fastboot with cwm I've done it myself and I didn't see any difference in speed between the two backing up or restoring.
It's preference on which you choose to use, I'm not saying that either is bad they both have a great support background and are dedicated to quality as they should be, it's the most important software on your device in consideration to root users and without it working properly your taking a very large risk.
Personally believe recovery should be layed out in a manner that is easy to use and functional for all types of users, adding gimmicks to something that should be taken seriously I feel is unnecessary and both teams do a great job of keeping it clean and treat the work as if they are paid to make them.
Both are great at their work, both are worth having. - Orical

[Solved] Baseband and IMEI unknown / Baseband unchangeable

For reasons unknown after flashing a Rom your Baseband and IMEI might show 'Unknown',
flashing stock firmware will bring you back your Baseband and RIL will work perfectly
but the Baseband is now unchangeable (not to everyone but this is what happened to me).
The Baseband is associated with the modemfs folder which is on the root of your phone.
To fix this you'll need a file manager app like Root Explorer, ES File Explorer etc.
Here's the steps:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
1.Go to the root of your phone Mount R/W and open modemfs.
2.Select everything and delete.
3.Extract the modemfs.zip that you downloaded from below.
4.Select everything in the extracted folder and copy it.
5.Go to the modemfs on the root of your phone and paste everything you copied.
6.Change every folder's permissions like shown on the picture above.
7.Change the permissions of GUARDFIL and trace_auto.conf like shown on the picture above.
8.Restart your phone.
Now you're done, your Baseband should be changeable and you should be able to flash any rom you want!
The modemfs.zip I uploaded should only work with GT-I9070 not GT-I9070P.

@M0shi Thank a lot. Your trick is awesome.
I was experimenting with various android OS. Unfortunately I formatted my modemfs partition. I thought my cell phone was dead. Even, went to service center, they asked to replace the motherboard.
After 10 days of search and experiment I ended up reading your article. It worked like charm and my cell is back to life. Wish I could by a drink for you. Once again thanks a lot.
When I'm trying to delete the files located in modemfs my phone reboots. After reboot the files are still here.

I need carrier Partition from Note 5

Hi, I am currently using unlocked Sprint Note 5 on another carrier. I have messed up some settings and need the carrier partition from a Sprint Activated Note 5. This can be pulled of easily from a rooted Note 5 and doesn't contains any personal information.
-- On a rooted Note 5 N920P, run adb shell as ROOT (su)
---use following command to pull Carrier partition to sdcard
--- dd if=/dev/block/platform/15570000.ufs/by-name/carrier of=/sdcard/sprint_note5_Carrier.img
Zip and share on any file hosting website.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Bump.... anyone..pls help...

adb shell says no such file or directory. I cant remember if that filepath is correct, I'll look around.
Edit:
The path looks like it is correct.
---------- Post added at 11:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:52 AM ----------
full command:
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/sda18 of=/sdcard/sprint_note5_Carrier.img
It looks like the byname doesn't work so I used the above command instead, addressing the cache partition directly.
I'll send it to you privately via PM when it gets done uploading.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Thanks a lot @tdunham.
Some how after marshmallow byname is not working. Addressing the partition directly works, however the carrier partition is on sda18. sda17 is Cache.

FYI, su must precede the command for pull otherwise I get access denied or something.

Thanks. Got the correct file. Will update thread once I put it in my Note 5.
Just out of curiosity, what is your issue?
I ask for a specific purpose.
I know we and the Galaxy S6 are experiencing soft bricks on MM.
The symptom is phone just keeps rebooting over and over. A full wipe and odin flash of stock does not resolve this and the only workaround so far has been to allow the phone battery to fully die. I was thinking a specific partion is being problematic and a simple solution hasn't presented itself yet.
@tdunham
My issue is not related to MM bug. Actually if you flash the MM odin it flashes a dafault carrier partition also and it takes away all the carrier customizatins and hot spot / roaming settings are absent. You can get those back if you do a pofile update with sprint, which is not possible for non sprint users.

Would you be able and willing to shoot me a copy of that partition as well. My wife's note 5 recently messed up and is missing all carrier info and the dial code to pull it OTA isn't responding. Its causing that repeated activation error and not registering on any network and its unlocked too.

Whats true? too many theories about consequences after unlocking bootloader

Hi,
I bouth a used Z5 and I just found that it was unlocked and then restored the drm.
I read some posts saying that you lose functionality, and that it also affect to the camera. Other posts say that that depends on the way you unlock it, others say that you cant restore it, and others that you can depend on your the method.
My security service info stands like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
What functions am I missing? Can I get them back?
Look, about the drm keys, if the one who unlocked the phone kept the drm keys then you can restore it. If that person didnt keep the drm keys, then you lost them for good. You cant use any other z5's drm keys or you will brick your phone. The good news is, you can restore all the functionalities back by flashing a zip file. You will have to root the phone first.

thanks. you said that it is possible to restore all the functionalities back by flashing a zip file. which zip file? there many different of them saying that can do it, an many people saying that some of them dont work and can brick the phone ....

may be he reffers this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/sony-credentials-restore-unlocking-t3296383
but you need to have root permissions and a custom recovery.... if you want to know how to install it here's a nice guide step by step

I talked with the last owner, and he said that he already installed drmrestore.zip...
but the screen still stays like the screen I posted in the first message.
How can I check if I have lost functionallity? how cna I make sure that the camera and everything is fully working ok?

Hi.
I think so in your first post have the solution about your questions...
When you flash drmrestore .zip restore marlin and widevine and it appears ok. But fido Keys appears not provisioned.
Then it's possible that mirrorlink doesn't work, and camera work slowly.
When you restore your drm Keys you can read in fido Keys: provisioned and all functions works fine.

VS987 with internation SIM Questions

Hi There,
I have a Verizon G5 and I'm using it overseas. There are 2 issues I would like to ask:
1) Phone does not update itself via OTA or PC with regular ways. Current version is VS98710B. How can I update it? (I don't have Verizon service)
2) I see that most recent update (VS98714A) brings an issue that; when the phone is reset, it can only be used again with entering the gmail account/password associated with that phone. What if I give/sell the phone to someone else? How can a different person use it again?
