VS987 with internation SIM Questions - Verizon LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hi There,
I have a Verizon G5 and I'm using it overseas. There are 2 issues I would like to ask:
1) Phone does not update itself via OTA or PC with regular ways. Current version is VS98710B. How can I update it? (I don't have Verizon service)
2) I see that most recent update (VS98714A) brings an issue that; when the phone is reset, it can only be used again with entering the gmail account/password associated with that phone. What if I give/sell the phone to someone else? How can a different person use it again?

I tried LGUP but it does not recognize my phone. I think I need find a way to make it see the phone.

i cant say much about update, i had that issue as well.
and about google lock, if you reset your phone from settings menu and give it to someone its fine, but if you reset it from android recovery (before phone starts up) than you have to activate it using previous google account. its same as apple does it

This one also did not work. Even SIM management is disable, when you go to settings (SIM management).
Three days ago i try to install CLOCKWORKMOD using an app called [ROOT] Rashr- Flash Tool from play store.
after installation the network disabled and even i try to reboot in to recovery mod, but it failed to, it just restart the phone.

android device manager

On my old device ADM could locate my device. Since i get new device from RMA ADM cannot locate my device. I tried every suggestion that i found on forum and internet and nothing helped. Since it dont work since i get new device maybe the reason can be that i put the backuped partitions from old to the new device throuht twrp. So what shall i do?

It is. But as i said, it was working on old device so it should be something correlated to the restoring backup from old to the new device.

ah, it was an older nandroid you restored on a new device.. uninstall the app, then reinstall it.

It did not helped.
This is one of many reasons I personally never recommend that people use a nandroid from one device to another.
Just wipe and flash stock with fastboot. Done.
Backup your user apps and data with titanium backup.
I will try that as a last resort since there is a little progress.
As can be seen on picture ADM locate my device, but it says that it is unavailable.
From second picture can be seen that ADM registered my both N5, and that old one was last been online on the 12 of July and that the new device was last online on the 4 of August. On the 4th August was my new device still with a original firmware. But after that when I put OmniROM and restore data from old device ADM thinks that my device was not online but it can locate it. Strange.
Any suggestions?

32GB Nexus 5 says I have 12.58GB

EDIT: ***BEEN RESOLVED AND ANSWERED***
Not sure if this is an RMA error. I did just notice this since I was using this new device for about a week since I got my my OnePlus One in early August.
I just recently decided to revisit my Google Nexus 5 (no nothing is wrong with my OnePlus One) since Android L is about to drop officially. Been using it for about 4 or 5 days straight again.
I did go through a VERY annoying RMA process. I finally got one that looked fine but never checked the storage. Is there a way I can confirm that it is indeed a 32GB?
Is it possible for the 32GB Nexus to somehow give me 12.58GB Of free space?
I am kinda pissed off Google's Support team made this error.
Here's the picture.

Its quite common for 32 GB devices to think they're 16 GB devices like yours does. If you search, there's loads of answered threads about it and how to fix.

Reboot to fastboot. It should show the storage. Check the phone box, it should be printed on it.
Dial *#06# replace the x with your imei http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=xxxxxxxxxxx paste the suffix part here and I can tell which model you have.

I cant really remember how to solve your issue. Maybe the fastboot format data command would do the job. Warning you will lose all your data. Oh and try to not use cwm recovery it can cause problems like that you have now.

I use TWRP. But yah I looked it up and NOW I found it that 32GB can be seen as a 16GB. -_-
I searched earlier. They do recommend doing a full on fastboot erase.
Yes I am aware of what fastboot erase <inserthere> does.
Thanks for helping me figure out it truly is a 32GB. Thanks well earned!

Which GMS workaround is still working without hiccups?

Thinking whether to buy a used P40 Pro which is going cheap right now, but looking at all the guides/threads, it seems there are still many hoops to jump around and Google keeps blocking these loopholes.
Is this accurate? Any sure-fire way for GMS to work on P40 Pro before I purchase them?
Thanks!

There is working method but the main thing is to be at the right FW version at the start to let install the GMS.
Once done you can easily update your phone without issues.
The problems you read here and there are mainly caused by users who don't want to downgrade to the right FW version.
Or by users not knowing (or not reading) the how to downgrade.
From my side it is running perfectly (banks apps and all others) since the beginning.
It is a must buy if the prices are going down ?
Does this mean we will always be stuck on the old firmware and won't be able to receive the latest security patches? Sounds worrying to me, and not sure whether that's worth the upgrade from my P30 Pro.. ?
You will receive new updates and security patches. You just have to follow the instructions exactly.
May I check whether this guide is the latest and can be installed along with microG?

Hi guys, I got stuck at this screen when trying to downgrade my firmware. Have already disabled all firewall and windows security. Why is it still showing no internet connection??
Also I noticed I'm unable to paste the full URL in the Proxy. Is this normal?

İt has to be a great deal for you to go through all that hassle. Otherwise not worth it

Just format it and the phone will boot. This is part of the process.
Have gms working perfectly on my p40 pro
My issue now is being stuck on firmware 131. OTA doesn't detect new updates and HiSuite shows no Internet connection even though there's no proxy and my Internet is working well.
Risk free??
Is there a risk of adding malware using any of the methods described for adding Google services?
downgraded to 131 to install GMS first, then upgraded to 142 and 172 via OTA thereafter. now on 172.
When switching off WiFi to go to Mobile Data mode, the phone does NOT get any data unless I toggle between
LTE/WDCMA/GSM
and
WDCMA/GSM
MANUALLY.
I have to do this EVERY TIME I go from WiFi to Mobile Data mode. Any way to overcome this issue?

FWIW, you need to be signed in to MIUI account on the device to be able to unlock it.

I've already signed in to my Mi account and did all those steps in developer options
Is a SIM card active? Only option remaining, as I see it, is to try a different network. Also, I know of no option around the one week wait.
Have you tried uninstalling the unlock tool and download latest version from site?
I unlocked mine Tuesday .. no issues with official tool in Windows 10

When I downloaded latest version (5.5) from the official site, that zip file didn't have any flashtool.exe inside it. There was only a batch flash/unlock tool. So I downloaded from another site and now it's working. Gave me 168h waiting time so I'm waiting now
Could be your antivirus deleted the executable.. i've seen them removing it from the actual zip... Good to know is now working though

Could you tell me where you found a flashtool.exe? Every version I have downloaded (5.5, 4.5, 3.5) has either miflash_unlock.exe or batch_unlock.exe. When I launch either of these it takes me to a sign in page. Once I sign in I can see my device, but the only option available is to delete the device. Does anyone know what you need to do to get an option to unlock?
I am also having the same problem. I am also redirected to the account page instead of unlock option.
