Non PC root? - Samsung Galaxy Ace 3

I'm trying to help root an Ace 3 S7270 running stock 4.2.2 for someone and have hit a few snags.
-The PC they use has no Internet connection.
-The device drivers aren't installed so obviously cannot transfer files from device.
Is there anything similar to towelroot that I could use to root the device? Or a way to mount the SD card as a mass storage device (like the mounting feature in TWRP).
I'm doing my nut in with this.

This one used to work on my firmware
Maybe you should try "Key Root Master Modded version" . It seems to be written in Indonesia or Chinese or something but when you entered, tap on "Mulai Root". It will prompt something with chances of success, tap "Root". Now you should get root. If you are lucky, you will get a normal SuperSU. If you aren't, you'll get another Superuser app and SuperSU. In that case, remove it manually.

Let's root the i858 - ADB access is here!

Okay, I have been able to get ADB access to the I-Mobile i858; but I cannot get root. There is an SU program and Busybox pre-installed on this device. I tried changing the permissions of SU to 4755 and 6755 without success. It looked like it was trying but something is interfering with root. Maybe if we work together we can figure this out. I even modified a flash image to set the permissions when it flashed the new image. That still did not give me root.
Here is how you get ADB to connect. It is kind of a pain but at least now we can talk to the device.
1. Install the "Android Terminal Emulator" by Jack Palevich from the Android Market to your device.
2. Download the Android ADB device drivers from this link and un-rar them.
http://www.generalmobile.com/support/dstl1/DSTL1_USB_Driver.rar
3. Open Device Manager on your computer.
4. Make sure debugging is turned off on your device in Settings>Applications>Devices.
5. Open the Terminal Emulator you downloaded in step 1 and type in the following command "<enter>setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1<enter>".
6. Go back to Settings>Applications>Development on your device and turn USB Debugging on. Click OK when prompted to confirm.
7. Plug the USB cable into your i858 and then your computer's USB port. In my tests using a reliable hub is okay.
8. You will see a device under Universal Serial Bus Controllers that says either "USB Mass Storage Device" or "USB Composite Device." Watch that section in Device Manager to see which one is the new one when you plugged in your device.
8. Uninstall the Mass Storage or Composite Device that was added to Device Manager when you plugged in your computer. You do this by right-clicking it and selecting "Uninstall".
9. On Device Manager Click the Actions pull down menu and click "Scan for hardware changes".
10. If you are lucky an unknown Android Device will no be listed in the Device Manager as not working due to no drivers installed. Go to properties of this device and update drivers browsing to the folder when you unzipped the drivers downloaded in step 2 above. The Android ADB drivers will now install.
11. If that doesn't work keep uninstalling the Mass Storage or Composite Device and rescan until the Android Device appears in Device Manager.
12. If you unplug it you will have to go back to step 4 but you can skip step 5.
13. If you reboot or turn off your device you will have go to back to step 4.
14. Unfortunately, I have to do this ritual every time I want to connect to the device by ADB; but heck it sure beats having no ADB access at all.
Now that you guys have ADB access let's rock this device, root it and have some fun. I spent all day trying to root it without success. I did manage to make the phone do some weird things and reboot a couple of times. I was changing permissions for the pre-installed "su" program in "/system/bin" but obviously there is something else that needs to be done to root this device. At least we are one or two steps closer now.
Thanks for sharing with us your work

If the device was rooted then you could delete them on the phone.
I-Mobile i858 has been rooted!!!
Okay, the I-Mobile i858 comes pre-rooted but there is something wrong with the way it was setup and root doesn't work. You download a program called Universal Androot and let it re-root the device so that it corrects whatever mistakes the ODM put in that made root not work. In your browser go to the following URL and install the program.
http://bit.ly/cwNm9u
When you run the program it says the device is already rooted; but there is some problem as the rooting is not complete. So you tell the program to root the device again. After it is done the device is rooted and stays rooted after reboot. Programs like Boot Control that require root access now work. There is a SuperUser Authorizer app that will intercede the first time and ask you if you want to give root permission to that app. That is a good thing and will protect you from malicious programs getting root that can cause you all kinds of nightmares.
But, I am root and I still cannot uninstall the pre-installed apps. How do you do that even as root? I am missing something.
hey great new s thanks for your work today i went to the i-mobile shop in samui and there say rom update is official confirm to 2.1 or maybe 2.2 there dont know excactly
Now i have root thanks. But following problem when i try to delete some apps that pre installed.
Says delete it but in real do not delete the app ummm
do you have any id why i can not delete the apps??

Any pre-installed apps cannot be deleted the normal way. Install Titanium Backup from the Android Market and let it have root when requested. You can use that program to uninstall pre-installed apps with root.
Rooted! ADB! Now this device gets much more useful! Great work jboxer, thanks!
BTW the rooting app has been updated to v1.6.1

[Q] How can I safely root the galaxy s?

I have downloaded the one click and samsung drivers. The program opens fine. But I have read some people getting phones messed up from rooting with this program?
Should I remove the SD card first before rooting?
Does this program work with 2.2 one click for Galaxy?
Thanks!
Hey
the version i used is 1.7 and no problem here ....
I have read somewhere that you should unmount your sd card , well i didnt and still got phone rooted..
i dont see much of problem with it ..... it will take around 5 mins so just be patient.....dont forget to install samsung drivers .... and put phone into developer mode
Can not get it to work.
Yes I did download Samsung drivers succesfuly.
Yes I enabled Debugging mode succesfully
Tried using both One click 1.7 in Rage mode. Tries to work but just cursor flashing and does nothing.
Then used the other One click program that comes up with BLUE SAMSUNG I9000 and has choice to One click 2.1, 2.2 or remove root.
I choose 2.2 and then phone resets like when I used Clockwork on my old HD2.
I chose correctly to install the files.
PHone loads files but then get error code and wont install them. Reads Signiture Verification Failed!
I read others having same issue of phone not letting files install.
Anyhelp!
I know its not rooted as Titanium Backup is not getting root permission..

Down root check fron the market. Just because Titainium is not getting root permission does not mean it's not rooted. It’s not that difficult to root the SGS 4G Phone. The first thing you need to do is make sure your phone is communicating with your computer. Install the Samsung USB drivers.(make sure you have the right drivers for your O.S. either 32bit or 64bit) In your phone go into Settings/Applications/Development and make sure you check “USB debugging”. Connect your Tethering cable to your phone. On your home screen you should see “USB Connected” popup on top of your screen. You should be able to press USB connected button from the drop-down menu on the home screen and see the external SD card on the computer now. If that works then Turn off USB storage. (leave “USB debugging” checked) Then Download SuperOneClickv1.7-ShortFuse, expand the file and go to SuperOneClickv1.7-ShortFuse Directory. Run the SuperOneClick App. When it opens don’t change anything and just click “Root” and let it run. It should say rooted when done. Then go to the Market on your phone and get Titanium Backup and install it. It will ask for SuperUser permission and accept that on your phone. If that fails press “Problems” button, Then “Get Busybox”. Install the new Busybox. You may have to close and reopen Titanium Backup again. BTW this post should be in general.
yeah, i dont suggest you use rage. it took forever for me to root the phone that way. i left it on psneuter and it rooted in about 5 minutes
Sent from beyond the Galaxy
Thanks guys! Yes Rage was the issue. I followed his instructions and left in pnuueter and it worked perfectly! Now my Titanium is rooted and working.
Now if we could just get a good Apsd to let us format the SD card to ext 4 that would be a perfect world!
Thank you.
Moved to proper forum.

^ thats what i forgot to tell him to change it lol
Rooted my SGS4G using Superoneclick.
2 things I noticed. Your AV will think that Rage is a virus. NOD32 kept quarantining it. I turned off both AV and FW.
Also, after you install the Samsung USB driver, reboot your computer. I had that "waiting for device" message until I rebooted computer. Then it flew. The driver doesn't offer to reboot, or tell you to.

Ok I just picked up one of these and it's rather different from other Aos phones i've rooted. you need to have SDK installed with Platform-tools
try to put them on C: if not just be able to navigate to the Dir to acess the adb shell. If you need help just google how to acess adb shell and im sure you can find a vid on youtube to help.
Rooting this phone isnt something hard. I didn't make the zip file All credit goes to Vadim for actually doing that. I took the update.zip file from the root method of the Huawei Ascend II and flashed it onto my Activa using adb.
The obligatory "I am not responsible to what happens with your phone and you flash this image at your own risk etc etc.. You all basically know the drill ;P"
Before starting make sure that you have the Android sdk installed on your computer. (I recommend installing it to the root directory of your hard drive)
Also install the USB Drivers by auto running the program when you plug in your phone via usb.
Make sure your phone has USB Debugging enabled
And now the process:
1.Download the update.zip via download link below.
2.Copy the download to the root of your phones SD Card
3.Hop on over to command prompt and go into the platform-tools directory of the SDK 'cd \whatever.path.to.sdk\Android\platform-tools'
4.Run 'adb devices' and make sure your device is there, it should say M920
5. If its there then reboot with recovery. 'adb reboot recovery'
6. Once booted into recovery then use the volume up and down buttons to scroll up and down and to select press camera button and then press power button. (Not at the same time )
7. Choose update from SD Card.
8. Choose the update.zip from the root of your drive.
9. After its done then reboot your phone and its rooted
anyway google root activa 4g and theres a youtube vid that will help. =it also can be found here "://androidforums.com/activa-4g-all-things-root/576135-guide-how-root-your-activa-4g.html"
This method does work but the binary is still outdated and Su fails when trying to update it.. but it still runs root exploreer just fine so you'll be able to remove whatever you want. As far as Dev work for this I am still trying to find a custom recovery img and hopeing some rom ports may be available soon. I'll post again if i find anything hope this helps..

Any update on this? I know it has been over 6 months, but it still seems to be the only root thread on the Internet for this phone. Haven't tried it yet, but if I am understanding you right then the functionality of this root will be very limited. (no SU at all?)
I'm just wanting to tether it so my wi-fi only Nexus 7 can have mobile data.

Do you need a custom rom just to tether?
Another interesting note: Called MetroPCS about adding hot spot plan for this phone and they told me its not possible and I have to get a Quatro or something... That can't be right can it? I thought all modern Android devices with wifi can make wifi-direct or whatever tethering uses...

how to root huawei without computer

Impossible to root? Huawei Ascend Y

Ok so I recently picked up a Huawei Ascend Y (H866C) from Straight talk. Now I'm no noob to rooting and roming but this thing has got me beat, from near as I can tell Huawei has locked the bootloader and disabled fastboot.
Without fastboot I can't flash a recovery, without the recovery I can't get SU, without SU I can't do ADB shell and push anything to /system; so i'm stuck in a never ending loop.
Does anyone know of a way to remount the system in r/w mode without SU, or for that matter maybe just a way to unlock fastboot mode?
Again I'm not some noob whining cause he can't get rooted, I've spent quite a few hours googling, looking up other forums, and running tests myself and have only now come to ask for help. So please no one tell me to google it or to stop whining.
Thanks

i know that i am new to rooting but i do really know how to root.
first, try superoneclick.
disable all antivirus and enable usb debugging.
if that doesn't work, use gingerbreak if you are on gingerbread.
also, disable antivirus.
also, try doomlord's easy rooting toolkit.
if that doesn't work, try kingroot.
remember to use the apk.
otherwise, use the root tool at shouji.360 .cn/ root
hope that helps.

How Can I Perform a Forced Upgrade?
Download the upgrade package from http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/technicaIndex.do. Use the unzipping software on your computer to decompress the upgrade package. Do not change the name and structure of the dload folder that is contained in the upgrade package. Use a USB cable to connect your phone to your computer. Copy the dload folder to the root directory of your microSD™ card. Disable the USB mass storage feature of your phone. Upgrade the software of your phone using the dload folder on your microSD™ Card. a. Power off your phone. b. Press the volume up and volume down keys at the same time. The upgrade screen with a progress bar is displayed. c. When the progress bar reaches 100%, remove the battery from your phone for 3 seconds. d. Reinstall the battery on your phone, power on the phone, and then wait for the system to start up.

Do any of those temp-root exploits work on the phone? Can you boot the phone into recovery/download mode? Google "manually root android" and try some of the methods there.
Huawei Ascend Y - Pushed files to sdcard need nautilus distro almost rooted
Ive actually found a possible root. it requires a distro of linux with nautlius. also to first adb psuh the particular files to sd card then after doing so booting linux distro with Nautilus copying the files you pushed to root ls. The huawei Mercury has the same root method on Unleashedprepaidsdotcom, The huawei mercury and the ascend y have both pink screens which i have the drivers instaslled for. i have pushed the files to adb push /sdcard sucessfully just dont have distro with nautitlus to complete this.
Success is here
I can't post links yet but I successfully rooted after weeks of trying with the following typed into my browser. unleashedprepaids.com/showthread.php?tid=7645
For those that are still looking Sketchscarz and GiantPune now have a working root method for the H866C

Hey its very simple to root, but i found it after searching for it a lot. Download Kingo Root app from pc, There are two ways. 1. You can do it with android app directly in your tab. 2. Do using pc. I have done using Android app. So you can get the apk file in its website or google it. Go to products in it website and download apk for android. You have to download it from pc as market doesnt shows. After download install and open the app. It will show your Tab or android details, like Model name and android version. And details either its rooted device or Not. if it is not rooted it will indicate as no root, so click on the bottom of the page to root. It will do 4 things wait till its done till 100%. Approximately it may take around 2 to 5 minutes. After its done, Restart the device. And again open the App. Check what it indicate as rooted device or non rooted. If it shows as rooted, then your smartphone is successfully rooted. And if it shows as No root try again.
Note Try even though if your device is not listed in list, because list is incomplete, because it say "NOT LISTED" does not necessarily mean "NOT SUPPORTED".
for any more details regarding it plz mail me at [email protected]
