Hi all I'm new android user and I have many questions..one of this is:
Can I root my garmin asus A10 ?
up, 68 people views and no answer
try z4root
I'm strugglin with several tools like zroot or androot...but nothing, always errors.
Weird as many guys are able to do it while other no way...
I have a Garminfone. Z4root is the only way. Download it to your sd card and use a file manager like Asto or Linda to get to it. Install it then run it. You should have USB Debugging on and have "allow installation of non-Market applications" checked to install apps from sd.
Also this is the wrong room for this. Good luck.
Posted from a Garminfone. Yes I use it. Yes I like it.
I did as you say man, but it just hangs up on rebooting.
After 10 mins I pull off the battery, switch on again but still not rooted.
Any fuxxxin secret?
i can't root my A10 with z4root, but z4mod... i am not sure if there are the same thing...
Try z4mod... ^^
i just uploaded to 4shared... But seems like i am not able to post external links here yet.. emmm.. PM me for the links..
Good luck...
Rooting A10
Hi, when using z4 try turning on usb debugging. A friend of mine rooted like that.
I guess it depends on the android version. Some of them comes with 1.6 and some with 2.1.
Also at the link below they explain a different method.
OK i cannot post a link so I'll say make a Google search on
root-your-garmin-asus-a10
I've been reading here at XDA, I can find the instructions - no problem.
However, in the WIKI there are a few things I don't understand.
The problem also is that all the posts assume you know what's going on and they start in the middle of a thread.
Then there's advice to use Odin, not to use Odin, use this, don't use this.
Some say unmount the SD card, some make no mention of SD card.
Then there's different backups. I've seen Titanium mentioned.
There's advice to get the latest drivers from Samsung - The phone isn't even in the dropdown list of phones, and the letters for the model don't match.
There's the custom ROM advice. Since there aren't many for this phone as yet - and all you want to do is remove crap, what do you look for?
I have to get rid of that stupid Doubletwist and airsync before I toss the phone!
Z
It is rather confusing isn't it...
In a simple answer....
Find the SuperOneClick zip file in one of those threads in the Dev forum & root the phone. Then go get TitaniumBackup ( Pro Recommended ) & you can remove the bloatware. I'd recommend the Pro Version so you can freez the apps you don't delete.
That's what i did on my SGS4G ( and i am not a experianced modder myself )
One problem. I downloaded superoneclick and NET can't find the runtime file.
I'm using XP and ver 4 of NET. I turned off NOD32 and Online Armor.

Uninstalled NET 4 and put in 3. I can open the file, but NOD32 keeps quarantining RAGE. Says it's a trojan.
I don't really want a custom ROM - but would like some more information on Titanium Backup. The Market won't download to the phone, but going to the market on the phone will let me download.
Thanks,

Let it scrub the RAGE file, you need the other one actually to make it work
Which one? PSneuter?
Also some confusion about the Samsung driver. I also have a Galaxy 3. I downloaded Kies and the driver. I downloaded the new driver (did not install it)and stuck it in a folder named Samsung on the Desktop. Kies is in the Samsung folder in programs and I assume that the original driver is in there, too. The driver is listed in Add/Remove programs.
I can either delete Kies or rename that file to something else, and stop Kies from running. So there's 2 drivers, and I suspect they are the same.
Since I can't send a download from the Market on the PC to the phone, I have to download from Market on the phone. I can't install Titanium unless I root, but can I get to Titanium from the phone if I do root?
Thanks
Z
I use linux... so i have no idea what Kies is or does..

So which phone are you trying to Root? Samsung Galaxy 3 or Samsung Galaxy S 4G? If your rooting the S 4G you can find the drivers here http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...728034640796/SGH-t959_Vibrant_USB_Drivers.zip
I have no experience with rooting with XP but I assume it would be essentially the same steps.
If your looking to do stuff on your Galaxy 3 then please go to this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=868
and do your research over there.
It’s not that difficult to root the SGS 4G Phone. The first thing you need to do is make sure your phone is communicating with your computer. Install the Samsung USB drivers.(make sure you have the right drivers for your O.S. either 32bit or 64bit) In your phone go into Settings/Applications/Development and make sure you check “USB debugging”. Connect your Tethering cable to your phone. On your home screen you should see “USB Connected” popup on top of your screen. You should be able to press USB connected button from the drop-down menu on the home screen and see the external SD card on the computer now. If that works then Turn off USB storage. (leave “USB debugging” checked) Open NOD32 application from your system tray. Go to Settings and select “Temporarily disable antivirus,” put your password in if prompted. Then Download SuperOneClickv1.7-ShortFuse, expand the file and go to SuperOneClickv1.7-ShortFuse Directory. Run the SuperOneClick App. When it opens don’t change anything and just click “Root” and let it run. It should say rooted when done. Then go to the Market on your phone and get Titanium Backup and install it. It will ask for SuperUser permission and accept that on your phone. If that fails press “Problems” button, Then “Get Busybox”. Install the new Busybox. You may have to close and reopen Titanium Backup again. I would say to download and install ClockworkMod after rooting and before getting Titanium Backup, Except ClockworkMod currently does not work for the SGS 4G Yet. So, skip that step for now. You should be able to backup your phone after this.

This is good information, but what about for Mac users? I was previously able to root my Samsung Vibrant just by installing the update.zip file via CWM. Should Mac users wait for this course or can we make it happen now?
Also, what's the benefit of rooting right now? Just to remove bloatware? There's no custom roms yet, right?
Look at the Unix instructions about associating the USB ID with the Mac. I haven't tried it, but I suspect that is the missing step.
Update: Nope -- According to Google, http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/device.html#setting-up
Setup your system to detect your device.
* If you're developing on Windows, you need to install a USB driver for adb. If you're using an Android Developer Phone (ADP), Nexus One, or Nexus S, see the Google Windows USB Driver. Otherwise, you can find a link to the appropriate OEM driver in the OEM USB Drivers document.
* If you're developing on Mac OS X, it just works. Skip this step.
* If you're developing on Ubuntu Linux, you need to add a rules file...
(Emphasis mine)

I'm wanting to root the 4G. The Galaxy3 was bought unlocked so it doesn't have the crap on it. Like I said, the ROM seems to be ok, it's just the stupid bloatware.

Macs are out of my Knowledge base. I've taught PC repair at LAUSD in Ca, but haven't studied the Mac thing. It's something I want to learn, just have not got around to it yet.
Hi guys,
I bought a tablet from the guys over at Allview. The price was decent and the tablet is nice, but the douchy problem is that they did not include the android marketplace. I need it.
The device runs a eclair (android 2.1) update 1. Is there any way to install the marketplace without rooting the device ? and If not, can the device be rooted ? It has no phone capabilities (no sim, no gps, no camera) so I have 0 ideea what tool to use, especially because i really have no ideea what happends when rooting.
The little i got informationwise is that i'd probably need to root it > connect it to pc, use the andorid debugging console to "push" the app into the system folder. Tried to install whatever vendor.apks I could find but since the "host" os was uncertain, it's probably why they could not be installed. Alas, i may be wrong. Can you please help me out ?
if you need more infor google allview or Alldro
Thanks a lot !

Here ya go! just download it to your destop, transfer it to you device via usb, or download it to android device and run it from there!
thanks a huge lot !!! I will try this out. if it cannot install it means I will probably have to root the damn thing
thought as much. it won't install. I'm using ES explorer to install it (my device is not rooted yet, as I mentioned before) and no luck.
EDIT 1: Also tried copy=pasting it into the system/app folder. it says android marketplace blablabla copy failed. Is it possible that I am dealing with a NAND lock ?
could be that system is mounted read only.
Do you have root?
nope, not yet. I;m trying to root it as we speak... so far still going through the steps
EDIT: trying this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858952
so far i got to making the recovery image. for some idiotic reason however, I cannot do adb reboot recovery again ! it tells me error: protocol fault (no status)
my guess is that it doesn't like the recovery folder's name. else i don't get what's wrong ! I am going to rename the folder, and then attempt a second reboot-recovery. see if that works !
EDIT2: did not work. Could it be something else ?
ok i did it ! the problem was I had skipped rooting and forgot to add a few more params after doing the backup... whew ! that was a close call ! ffs !

Hi,
Is there such an app for the phone P2 from Allview?
Thank you in advance,
Poli
You will need to root your device to be able to push the vending apk into the system apps.
1. Root. its essential to do so.
2. Mount system partition r/w > google for adb commands on how to do that and adb in general
3. download the google apps provided above and either unzip and push vending apk to system/apps (not sure about the exact names, you'll have to see for yourself by using Root Explorer) . Restart phone > should work.
Hello, I am a Junior member (on 1/19/14). I have a XOLO Intel mobile, XOLO X910. I decided to buy this particular mobile after a very long time of comparing it to every other mobile in all aspects. It has beat the smartest smartphones even in price, at the time I bought it cost me just 9000 INR, equivalent to $150. But then came the real problems. The support for XOLO mobiles, is not so responsive. I actually knew this before buying it. But, who doesn't want to call support, when they cant find the correct drivers, can't connect your adb, and can't move your apps to SD Card.
Well, so I tried for myself on how to do these. I'll try to address most of these issues here, to help my Intel Xolo friends. This post is exclusive for Xolo phones, with Inel processors. And for Windows users.
There are no good drivers for Xolo available.
Yes there are no drivers from Xolo available. When we try to find drivers in their website, we will be redirected to the Intel android drivers' page. So we do not have much choice. We have to use the driver from Intel. There are two versions of it. (1.1.4 and 1.1.5). They claim that 1.1.4 works on windows 7 and lower,; 1.1.5 works on windows 8, and windows 8.1 has no support.
But I am using 1.1.4 for windows 8.1 successfully. I don't who or what is wrong at Intel Inc. The thing I have to say to you for now is that, Download both of them, and try both of them. There is a very good chance, that one of them will work.
Even with the Intel drivers, and USB debugging enabled, adb doesn't work.
Yes it didn't work for me, and it won't be a surprise it if doesn't for any other owner of Xolo Intel mobile phone. I checked almost all mobile and android forums, xda too, but all I have is bits and peices about why it does, and doesn't work. Some guy in the facebook, commented on a root request post, that he was able to have his adb recognize his mobile.
The thing is for most of the Xolo Intel phones, the "adb devices" command comes up with an empty list of devices attached even when we connect the mobile.
Here is the solution, worked for me. I don't know if it works for you. But, this method of making your drivers to recognize your mobile does not harm or brick your mobile in any way. I actually tried checking for the solution in intel forum, and ended up me giving them, the solution.
http:// software. intel. com/ en-us/ forums/ topic/ 277352 (Remove spaces)
the method I am posting here is the exact copy as in the intel QA page.
1. Install 1.1.4 drivers.
2. Connect mobile, Open device manager, it shows "Android Phone" with exclamatory mark!
3.Right click and open properties.Go to Details tab. In "property" select hardware id's. Remember the VID and PID. Xolo's VID for mine is 1D91, and my PID is AABC.
4. Open the intel drivers folder in program files. and open the *.ini file, replace VID 8087 (this is for Orange San Diego, intel needs to change that) with your VID, and also your PID.
5. You need to save those files, with admin previliges its possible.
6. Now remove and connect Mobile. Go to device manager. You may or may not see any changes. Right click and click update. Select Browse from my computer, and then Let me pick, you'll have 3 options "ADB", "Bootloader", "Composite", choose according to your use. After the update is success, restart everything.
7. Now possibly the adb devices command may show "List of devices attached" with empty list. If it shows your mobile ID, no problem. If it does'nt, then go to, "C:\Users\user_name\.android" folder, create a file named "adb_usb.ini" and type and save "0x1D91" in that file. it is the VID in hex . If you have a different VID use it.
8. I believe you then will be able to use your mobile in debugging. I did. I hope you do too. If its a success, please contact me.
So, I believe in one way or another, with one driver or another, you have success, using "adb devices" showing your device.
And the final problem, root your mobile, and/or move apps to SD card.
I did not find any rooting procedures for Intel XOLO X910 on internet. I've found some for X900, which I thought woudn't for me. And another one in xda forums, for X500. This rooting procedure does not involve, unlocking bootloader, installing new custom recovery, or flashing a new rom.
What this method does is, it pushes the su file into /system/xbin/ of your mobile.
The program I used is called the Cydia Impactor, they claim on their page that they use, the Master key exploit of the android, so it will work on 99% of the mobiles, well I got lucky I rooted my mobile. You can download the software from their page( around 11MB).
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BRICKING. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
After downloading the software (assuming you adb works), just extract it,connect your mobile, open the Impactor executable, and click the start button. Done, the su is pushed into xbin. And voila, you are rooted.
But beware, this is x86 architecture, so if you try to install ARM only apps like busybox, chainfire 3D or some other cool ****, you may brick your mobile, (bootloop or bootanimation loop). Some have bricked them already, so do not do that. Atleast I suggest you don't.
How to move apps from Internal to External SD Card
In this category, I need some answers. Usually swapping, internal and external SD cards is a matter changing paths and labels in vold.fstab file. But unfortunately my mobile (IMO all intel mobiles) have three of those files. Named vold, voldeinternal and voldexternal, with the same extension fstab. I didn't try to edit any of them.
What I did try is "FolderMount". My main concern is about games larger than 1GB. So I place them on external SD Card and then mount them to either sdcard/android/data or sdcard/android/obb, so that I can play the game. I need suggestion for any improvements.
i have the solution to.internal memory problem

I am looking into that too, unfortunately I did not find any recovery that has compatibility with this mobile. And also recovery has no use for us until we have some ROM to flash. So until we find a ROM, recovery is obsolete (except for taking backup of our own). By the way the bootloader is pretty firmly locked.
We cannot install Xposed framework

ROM's are not available that are specifically designed for the given mobile, but there emulator ROM's from intel, and android-x86 Rom's available. They may or may not work, But to install them we need them signed and also a custom recovery, which is not available for the time being for x86. Even then we didnt yet unlock the bootloader.
Congrats on your rooting your mobile, may it give you bliss and god bless.
I dont know buddy, if the chainfire app can brick or not the phone, i said it may brick. And I said that coz some intel user did some kinda experiments and bricked (bootloop or soft brick) his mobile, I was just warning ya, but you're welcome to try it out and post the results. I just didnt want to risk it, that is all. And to the "WHY" part. As they are two different arch's they have compatibility issues with the code/app.
I have a Intel (K900) but it's hard to root.
You are really knowledgeable..

How will the emulator work..?
And how did you mount the internal sd with external sd??
Is there any way that when we connect our cell phone to the computer instead of showing portable device we see removable disks..
And there is a fault.. All the images in the gallery are displayed 2 times and the music also.. Copy is displayed which doesn't function.. I tried system reseting but it went in vain..
It happens with me too

What I do for the time being is I remove the ext. SD card, go to gallery and delete all the repeated images. But for the music it is hectic because. We can't choose multiple songs and delete them at. Once. We have to do it one by One which is very time Consuming. If you get resolved please let me know. I guess it happens when we connect it to. Our PC and delete. Something from the SD card.
ok
U r done by rooting ur phone kindly upload ur video on youtube so as we'll get a nice idea to root our x910 ur ideas r not working plzz uplaod

Rooting the samsung galaxy s4 i9500(non lte intr)
Guys now you all can root your s4 running lollipop 5.0.1.
You need to first take full backup of ur internal storage and unmount sd card.
The install the latest version of root genius on ur pc. Enable developers options on your device and check the usb debugging.
After that you need to connect your phone witch pc and open root genius. Start the root.
After 15 mins it will say some things in chineses ( i dint understand) and check all the options. Then it will restart ur phone in 2 mins. Then after completion disconnect ur phone crom pc.
Check if everything is fine or not, in my case it was not. The apps were crashing and google play service was missing many apps were to and was not able to open any google apps.
After all this just do a factory data reset . Reset your phone with ids and all.
Then download rootchecker from play store and verify root. It will say root installed.
Guys plz make sure that i am not responsible if this meathod works bt i think it will. And i am also not responsible if you brick your device do it on you own risk.
