[Bug Report][Solved] Permanent overlay after video plays in background - MX Player

Hi,
For the last couple of mxplayer updates, I've had an issue when I play video in the background. After I bring the app back to the foreground, the video 'title' in the overlay stays on the screen. If I bring the overlay up again by tapping, I get two titles on top of each other. To reproduce:
Play a video
With the video still playing, go back to the launcher (or another app)
Video keeps playing (correctly)
Re-open mx player
Video keeps playing, but the extra overlay is there
My nexus 4 has soft-buttons, that are set to autohide. I think that this is related - when I tap to remove the overlay there is a small (<1 second) window where the overlay is gone and the buttons still appear; I can avoid this problem by going back to the launcher in that window.
I'm running a nexus4, with stock lollipop (5.0.1). This only started happening in the last couple of mxplayer versions; it worked originally after I updated to lollipop when it came out.
I've attached the bug report .zip and two screenshots, both taken after reopening the app, while the video was playing. The second is after I tap to bring up the overlay; the duplication is clear there. This happens with any video; its not video specific.

I also have a same issue in z3. Sometime video title sticks in overlay.

This still happens with the latest update from the play store (v1.7.38)

This almost always fixes it - it still showed up a couple of times on my commute. I can't seem to work out how to reproduce it reliably though.

@Bradley2468 Please try new beta version, it might work better.

Thanks, looks good.

@bleu8888 Enable auto rotation mode in mx and place the phone in portrait orientation. Now play any video then click on pause and again long press on pause button. Background play service will be enabled. Press home button, mx will be minimised. Now place the phone in landscape orientation and open mx player from notification bar (mx currently playing as background service). There you will see a bug. Its only on rare case.
note: I am on latest beta build.

[Bug] mx player get hang when touched on the screen while playing video

This problem was not before, with the same version of mx player. But, it appeared suddenly. I cant be able to figure out what is causing the problem.
Details of the problem and step to reproduce :
go to mx player and play any video (until now video get played as normal without issue) -> then touch the screen or try to slide up or down to change the volume or brightness -> video get stuck-> wait for sometimes -> device get automatically get rebooted
Device: MOTO G 16 GB rooted and with custom ROM (cyanogenmod ROM snapshot M9). I think there is no problem in custom ROM because video works perfectly in default player. and even I played video on mx player previously.
I have attached the logcat please look and let me know what to do.
Info about logcat: logcat stopped when mx player got hang.
Please do not post bug reports directly into the Feature Request list. Post them as a new thread. I've moved the post to a new thread for you this one time; next time please start a new thread with your bug report.

There is not enough information in the log file.
Please use MX Log Collector. It is available on Google Play Store.
Also following information will be help.
1. Used decoder.
2. If it happens on all videos.
3. What happens if run mx after shutting down network connections using airplane mode.

First of all thanks for the response.
I figured out what is the reason behind this problem. "show touches" option in developer settings causing the problem. when it is activated problem occur but when i deactivate that option mx player works fine.
Way to reproduce :
go to the system settings > then go to Developer option > check the box for "show touches" in input setting.> now go to mx player app and play any video and slide on the screen or touch > it will freez.
Decoder is default I didn't change the decoder or might be I dont have one.
It happens with all videos.
when I activate the airplane mode, problem is not resolved.
I have attached the bug report( taken from mx player ) and logcat of the system (taken from adb).
thanks

If you read the first post of that list thread, the first thing it says is to provide a LINK to another thread with your problem or feature request. Anyways, let's see if your issue can be solved!

[Q] Latest update issues! (1.7.38)

Hello
Since the last update (1.7.38 the one where the notification area player changed) there are some issues I'm facing with long mp3 files. Not bugs but they are pretty annoying!
I listen to long mp3 files like recorded radio shows (2 hours) and audio books and here's what happens in this version that didn't happen before:
1) The notification area player disappears after a short time whereas in the previous version it didn't disappear unless i pressed the "x" button. So that way i cannot resume fast whenever I want to without having to open the app!
2) The mp3 starts at a previous point when the 1) happens and i have to resume it from the player itself (i have to open the app again) (e.g. I stopped it at 1:30:27 and when i resume from the app it starts at 1:00:00 and not where I paused it)
Please fix those issues. or just restore them to how they were
Otherwise the player rocks and it's op with subtitle sync and all those encoders! (imagine i couldn't even play some of the long mp3 files in other players!!)
Thanks and keep up the good work! cheers!
I think I was polite and described my problem. Why NO answer???
It will be now!
well done thank you!
Very strange issue, but everything is possible, try lastest beta version.
I will try to reproduce this on my phone and I will come to let you know.
problem continues!

Looks like app crashed while playing mp3. Would you try other decoders (HW, HW+, SW)?
Typically HW decoder would not crash at least.
You can select default decoder based on file extension on Settings > List > File extension.

[BUG] video doesn't show when split screen not focussed

To reproduce (Pixel, running O preview):
Start playing a video
long-press on the recents button to enable split-screen
open a second app (e.g. chrome)
tap on the second app window to bring it into focus
audio keeps playing, and any on-screen controls in mxplayer stay (expected)
BUG: video is blank until tapping on the mxplayer part of the window to bring it back into focus.
Video goes away again when losing focus
This is a recent regression - it worked until I updated yesterday to version 1.9.5. It makes split-screen useless.
Happens with all decoders (SW, hw, hw+).

If you are a beta tester of MX Player, then you could have received the update of free version earlier.
We have already rolled out 1.9.7 to everyone.
You can get the pro version from Google Play.

[Bug] The combination of 'Media buttons' and 'Next/Prev → FF/Rew' does not work when the app is in the background.

I use the next and back buttons on my Bluetooth headset to act as fast forward and rewind.
For this purpose, I have enabled 'Media buttons' and 'Next/Prev → FF/Rew' in the settings,
but when the app is running in the background, 'Next/Prev → FF/Rew' does not work.
When it is in the background, it is not converted and simply works as 'Next/Prev'.
Also, when the app is in the foreground, it will work as 'FF/Rew' as expected.
Note that the 'Double/Triple Press → Next/Prev' option has nothing to do with this behavior,
and will behave as described above whether it is on or off.
Additionally, the above is how it works in the conventional video player. If you open an audio file in the 'NEW PLAYER', it will behave like "Next/Prev" regardless of the app status.

Thanks for the fix!
That build worked fine as 'FF/Rew' both in the foreground and in the background (in Conventional Video Player).
Hi, i had the same problem and this apk fixed it, many thanks!
I noticed that now a few official updates have been launched on GPlay - but this bug is still present in the newest version, therefore i still have to use this slightly outdated APK. Is it going to be fixed on official installation in Google Play?

[Bug] PiP button doesn't work when background play is enabled

Hello,
I've been using MX Player Pro for years and often listen to videos with my phone's screen off using the background play functionality. In the most recent update (MX Player Pro 1.46.10) the background play options in the settings were changed to either background play or picture in picture. Once I figured this out and selected background play I was able to listen to videos with the screen off again, however the Picture-in-Picture button no longer works while playing a video. In previous versions when I had background play configured, the PiP button in the on-screen controls during playback still allowed me to use the PiP functionality on the fly.
Can you please fix the PiP button so that it still works even if I have background play configured as the default in the local player settings? Otherwise it seems like the only option is to revert to 1.42.13 and never update the app again.
Thanks!
having the same issue, this on top that since like a year ago, the headset Bluetooth buttons don't work for forwarding or rewinding 5 seconds as it used to (it works only when video is playing in background or PiP) this is extremely frustrating
newest version got it solved.

Gotcha. Sorry, I wasn't aware of the beta program. I'll look forward to its forthcoming release on the Play store.
