note edge or note 4 buying advise - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

got a note 2 want to upgrade it to laest model
confused between note 4 and edge ,
which one would you recommend from your experience
.can you post some comments from your experience .
thanks

I guess its all come down to whether u want something different. For me i really like the edge with that unique side pannel. Also i find even though screen is similar....the edge is more natural in colour...while note 4 is brighter. Least but not last...if you really love custom rom...the note 4 seem to have better support..For me im very happy with my edge.

I am on VZW, so when the Note 4 came out I got one. Love it. Note Edge came out, got one too.
Was hard to make a decision since I love them both but I ended up choosing to keep the Edge.
They are almost identical and completely different at the same time. For example:
Note 4.
Little bit bigger display (I noticed this specially on the keyboard, the keyboard a bigger on the Note 4)
Feels more natural in the hands, more like a phone if that makes sense.
Battery life is a little better
I think the Note 4 may get updated sooner than Note Edge and will probably get better support from developers
Note 4 has a better feeling, feels more premium, more solid.
Note Edge
Feels a little thinner, I'm not sure if it really is
With the edge, I was able to put most icons there and not my home screen is clean. I love that.
Seems silly, but the edge looks more futuristic, modern and I really like that. More people ask about it...
Today, I'm very happy with the Edge, love it. Don't regret my decision.

Edge is it...
I also own the N4 & the Edge, to sum it up I Swappa'd my N4. Dispite the locked bootloader I love this Note Edge device. Battery is not bad but nothing like the N4, I cant wait for the next Note Edge generation.
My reason for buying was to support real innovation. I feel like Samsung stepped it up with the Edge display and metal materials while still retaining the removable backplate.
But if you're a VZW customer, I recommend waiting for the Note Edge Developer edition.

If you have small hands, Note Edge is not suitable for you IMO. Because it's wider than Note 4. My fiancee can not handle it with one hand. She's got Note 4 and happy with it. Yes Note Edge looks weird at the first look. But it's bright. And thinner than Note 4.

The notifications, the night clock, the quick access to apps, the way it handles calls, the tool bar, and the extra edge programs makes it a hands down winner to me. If the screen size and battery were the exact same the note 4 probably would have only been released in limited edition instead of the other way around.

I've had my Edge (AT&T) for 6 days, and today and left it at home in favor of my Note 2. I think it will go back to the store this weekend. Side by side, for normal daily tasks, my rooted Note 2 is actually quicker and more responsive than the stock Edge. If the ATT Edge could be rooted, I'd probably think more highly of it, but my other complaint is that when I hold it in one hand, my finger tends to fall on the edge panel causing the main screen to ignore my thumb input. Also, the sharp edge at the top of the phone is uncomfortable when I press it up to my ear.
It's kind of disappointing because I watched this phone from the day it was announced, and counted the days until I was upgrade eligible. I'll continue to rock my beater Note 2 until the Note 4 gets rooted, then probably switch to that. In the meantime, the recently released Ditto Note 4 ROM has given me a newfound appreciation for my Note 2.

Feels like the Edge is curved the wrong way for holding it like a phone, the exact opposite of Motorola's nice curved backs and definitely less ergonomic than the Note 4. Plus it's wider making it that bit more exaggerated. If you factor in dev support it's an easy decision.

Note Edge Or S6 Edge?

Hello everyone,
love Note Edge but S6 Edge is nice, what do you think should take? new edge panels do not see, you should wait for the Notes 5 Edge? I fear that it remains experimental.. I do not see developments on the screen edge.
What should I do?
I like my Note Edge too! I seen the post by theverge.com that reported that the S6 wouldn't have a removable battery, no waterproofing, nor a MicoSD slot. I like the development aspect to come but not taking away 2 important functions (SD Memory card and Removable Battery)
Idk definitely take the S6 Edge, but sadly I like my big screen ,5.1 inch doesn't appeal to me.
I also like the fact they used gorilla glass for front and back for looks, but that's it, that's the reason for no removable battery, also more prone to have not just the screen shatter but the entire phone if dropped.
It's purely a matter of personal preference. I listened and watched the live stream on Sunday afternoon on the S6 and S6 Edge and as soon as I confirmed the lack of microSD and how small the S6E screen was, I ordered my Note Edge (which should be arriving via FedEx in any minute ).
Does the S6E look sharp and have some nice features, of course. But I've always wanted a larger screen and IMHO I think the edge is best served with a larger screen since you can't launch apps and favorites from the edge on the S6E (which is important to me). On top of that, on Saturday the Note Edge was $399.99 (which would mean $200 out of pocket for me since my firm reimburses up to $199.99) and on Sunday it was $199.99, so I can wait 11 months for my next upgrade.
I like big screens for myself and the S6 will be very popular anyways so I'll stay big and unique with my Note edge.
Loving my Note Edge. I am concerned about the future of Samsung phones though - the S series is their flagship phone series, and they're getting rid of the removable battery and the micro sd card slot. Is that how Samsung intends to do things from now on? When I pick up a new phone in 2017, I may very well be looking at other brands. I'm not even close to using up the 32GB on my Edge, but I still really don't like the idea of using an Android phone without the option for more space.
LG's looking good though. :]
It seems like the S6 edges are less usable than the Note Edge (they seem to be too narrow for anything useful). For me, it's worth the extra money for the Note Edge even if I only use the App panel and the built in features like phone calls on the Edge.
The Note Edge is about more than that - the S Pen is also great. My cousin who's an artist said that it was really nice for drawing.
Note edge size little big and difficult to keep it in pocket. I think s6 edge would be better choice those who thinking to buy note edge.
I am planning to switch to s6 edge on release.
Galaxy s6 edge lighter and touch fingerprint which I like the most and specially fastest camera.
3 features makes s6 edge worthy.
depends. if you fly overseas, then get note 4 lte-a(international ver, atleast can sell for something later, but no 4g the US) will get s6 edge on contract (unlock of course and can use lte-a in US) then wait for xda hacks to take adv of the egde functions. also it's newer than note edge. this is what I'm doing so it's up to you

i think the main factors for you to consider
size
is battery and sd card important to you
i think they look both stunning, with the s6 edge being prettier of course but not much and having 2 edge screens.
note edge will be "cheaper" too once the s6e comes out
s6 edge is marvelous, but if you need pen go for note edge.
If the S6 and S6 Edge does well, this may be the end of expandable storage and removable battery on Samsung's high end devices. The S6 Edge looks way better than the note Edge (which i own) in my opinion mainly due to the dual edges which makes the phone look more symmetrical and obviously the high grade materials used makes for a better looking device also, but i briefly used the Nexus 5 and not having a removable battery and a sd card slot was not cool for me. Really gonna miss those 2 items if this is new wave for Samsung devices!
And if aspect Notes Edge 2 with two dual edge???
http://www.sammobile.com/2015/03/03...he-galaxy-note-lineup-says-samsung-executive/
I agree, the real difference is the pen.
Personally I think they are two totally different phones from what I have seen. I have the note edge. To me loosing the removable back and micro SD is a big deal. I don't like not having options. I don't swap batteries throughout the day but when my battery does crap out I want to be able to just replace it myself. I usually don't store a ton of stuff on my phone much less actually require a SD card. But like the iPhone I see this storage options as being a way to get extra money out of people and the fact that whatever u get u are stuck with bothers me. Also the edges aren't actually as big as the notes and I don't think they act like a separate display for notifications. I may be wrong about that one.
But the positives about the 6 is that it looks really nice from what I've seen. Kinda dissapointed the didnt just do the note 4 build with the removable back but it does look really nice. And the wireless charging is a big plus. So like said before I think there isn't really a right or wrong choice. Just a personal preference.

just got my note edge last week and i'm loving it. for me, the removable battery, micro sd and the s-pen are the sticking points. i use the s-pen a lot and i can't imagine going to a phone without one. i'm sure the s6 is fantastic but i reckon my note edge will be staying with me for quite some time.

This is actually exactly what I did lol.
To each there own
So imo the note edge wins hands down.
Bigger screen.
Expanable memory
Removable battery
Better edge. And the s6 doesnt have the edge support of the note edge sonce its so small.
The fact that its not made of glass. (Yes the s6 back is glass)
And the spen. Its 100% great and only the note line has it.
I read this....
2. Features comparison between Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note Edge
Galaxy S6 Edge Galaxy Note Edge
- Feeds Panel (Only simple feed) - Edge Panel including Feeds Panel
- Expanded App
Use only Feeds Panels to wake up edge screen. Always use Edge Panels
Aspect Note 5 Edge or buy Note Edge
Note Edge
Samsung has confirmed the dual edges on the s6 edge will not have the separate screen function that the note edge has, they are merely for aesthetics. IMO no point in having the edge display without the edge function.
Lacks removable battery and SD card slot. i really really really really do not ever see myself using a phone that does not have the micro SD slot. I do use a lot of space on my phones. and on top of that all that downloading and surfing and gaming on the phone and i am not allowed to use an extended battery? i am really big on buying the aftermarket larger batteries so my phone lasts longer on a single charge.
and lastly, no S-Pen. the S-Pen brings a whole new level of awesome to your phone, it is a lot more precise than using your fingers for selecting text, or light to moderate photo editing. I use the Photoshop Touch app on my phones and tablets a lot, and the pen just makes it so much easier to edit that i couldn't see myself going back to a phone without it.
and trust me once you get a taste of the edge functions and the all new level of multitasking the second screen gives you on the note edge you will be hooked too. there is a lot more that the notes do that i couldn't do on my S4 or other S series, or even on my Motorola phones i used to use. (R.I.P. Droid Bionc, <3 u 4E)

Any input ? Note 5 or s6 edge?

Any help would be great guys. I currently have a s6 edge on att but looking to switch to T-Mobile. I love my s6e but since I'm switching and have an option on changing devices on intertaining the note 5.
I never owned a note line always had galaxy series. Is it too big and gauky in your pocket. Is it comfortable to hold to your ear? Is the spen actually something you use?
Any pros and con's would be great.
The guys

It kind of depends on if you think you will use the S-Pen or not. I personally found the Edge+ to be a little gimmicky. After you get over the awe of the curved screen, I felt that the Note had way more to offer. Both phones are identical aside from the S-Pen features for the Note or the curved screen and software that comes along with that. You have to decide what you think will fit what you plan on using the phone for.
I've been a note owner since the first iteration. For me, with medium to large hands, holding the note for any purpose, including phone calls is quite comfortable, although I use my bluetooth headset most of the time. I seldom use the spen, although the note while off function has come in handy a few times.
The device sits nicely in my jeans or coat pockets.
It comes down to personal preference.
I would go to Best Buy and play with both phones and decide for yourself.
Note 5. But then again you are in note 5 section. If I go ask in s6 I am sure they will pick they own phone.
I've had both, for me personally, I chose the Note 5. The dual screen is beautiful but it gets boring after a while and its not as comfortable to hold in your hand.
Note5 way to go.
I had the edge 6 and switched to the note 5, I prefer the larger screen, feels better in hand, stylus is a plus, and I got a free wireless charger for signing up for samsung pay.
Personally I prefer the note 5

so no responses from you to the people who took time out to give you their feelings especially after you referenced your 80 views. I think most people think that phone decisions should be made by the end user after review and of course test driving a few at the stores. Also if you get jump on demand if you dont like one you can get the other.
So basically a thread asking for help with Google and a store to try things out at dont really make sense to me but with all that said did you choose a phone? No disrespect to you either these are just my thoughts... :good:

Which to buy? S7 or S7E+

Hey guys I'm going to preorder my Phone today.
I'm just so indecisive on which one I should get. I went from the Note 3 to iPhone 6 Plus. I want to get back to my Sammy but I don't know which one to get.
What bothers me about the edge is the, well, edge part. It's bigger yet I feel like the sharp corners don't give u a good grip. On the positive side it's a bigger display.
The regular S7 looks to be much better of a feel on the hands.
What do u guys think? Am I being too hard on the edge or do some of you feel the same way.
Oh one last thing. I feel it would be a lot easier to break the edge screen.
Thanks
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well sounds like you want the regular S7.
I had my hands in both and both feel comfortable in hand but the S7 feels better in my opinion. Don't really care for the edge.

im in the same vote as you i preordered both devices , i have the reg s6 atm , the edge never apealed to me , i though tit looked cool but as for usefullness i find the edge gimmicky however seeing as how the reg s7 is curved on the back already and me wanting a larger screen and bigger battery i am taking the plunge and going edge version for this s7 upgrade , i always use a flygrip on the case of any device i have so holding it inst a problem . and the edge features can be disabled if needed.
Thank you both for your inputs. I'm gonna order the S7 non edge. Enjoy your devices guys.

Hit up BestBuy and give them both a try and see which feels better, S7 Edge might feel like a bad grip because of the screen but it isn't, you can also add a case and get a better grip no worries.

Exactly, I was settled for the S7 but then I gave them a try at BB and liked the S7 Edge better cause of the looks, bigger battery and the screen is bigger but doesn't feel as big as a 6 inch phone.
Well guys I completely fell off the wagon. I ended up getting the Note 5 32GB instead. I went to the T-Mobile store and felt much happier using the Note than the S7 or S7 Edge.
Don't get me wrong I was much impressed with the S7 but before leaving to an iPhone I was a note 3 user. Probably one of my favorite devices of all time to be honest. Anywho the important part is that im back with Samsung and Android.

I had the note 5 and my battery was terrible. I'm a power user. I upgraded to the edge just for the battery and have been satisfied since day one. Plus the development on the note 5 really slowed down.

With the current ROM and Kernel my battery life is great IMO
I had the edge and I returned it for the s7 and I'll tell you why. It's basically the only thing that bothered me... The edge function is nice, but the edge screen and it's shortcut thing has 0 use for any other app at all, and it makes the other apps really weird looking to me. Instagram for instance, the picture is warped around both sides and drove me crazy. Nothing else is meant to be viewed with 10 percent of the screen warped on the sides. Facebook the same thing. Even some buttons like the like button or whatever would be half on the bent edge, so you would have to hit them on the corner and it just bothered the crap out of me. That's just my thoughts obviously, but I couldn't deal. It was such a relief to have the s7 screen after that.
I have had both versions and US (Tmo) and International. I have to Say International (Exynos) regular is the one to go with. It's simply amazing ! I got better battery and gaming performance and ......... NO carrier BLOATWARE ! SM-G930F is the model number I have. Also It's rootable (not sure as of right now if US models are) but in future they may be as well.
Good luck !
I watched a lot of videos and read a lots of articles and reviews before I decided that I want a new Samsung phone and I thought that S7 would be the right choice for me. But then when I went to the local store and put my hands on both of S7 and S7E I just completely changed my mind for S7E.
Initially I had only one concern for S7E that it is too big but it is turned out tahat actually it is not as big as and having edges making this phone really nice and easier to use plus it has bigger battery than S7.
So my suggestion would be if you have Samsung store somewhere around just go in and physically touch both of the phones and play around a bit this way you can make proper decision. No one else can make it for you.
Good luck with your choice! :good:

Note 5 or S7 Edge?

Hey guys, been a long time XDA user, looking for input. I have never owned a Samsung device so I am completely new here. I came from a LG G4 that I loved it but wireless charging just melts down after 30-60 days and starts refusing to charge wirelessly. After 6 replacements I am here. My last one also had wireless connection issues.
The S7 Edge looked to be the best 1-to-1 match with screen size/features so thats what I had my mind on. Verizon recommended we swap for a different device and offered me a Note 5 64gb (because of no SD storage). So the Note 5 should be here in a few days.
BUT my mind was focused on the S7 Edge so I just went out and bought a S7 Edge on impulse, full price (thinking I would sell the Note 5 to recoop my money).
After seeing and playing with both, now I am kind of torn. The rounded edges actually feel nice to scroll off of. I think the edge apps have already lost my interest. I used to use "Side Bar" as a quick launcher and eventually just stopped using it.
Being new to Samsung, I semi know about the SPen and some of its features. The Note 5 is also the same width as my G4, so size isn't a factor here. In fact because of the rounded edges, the S7 Edge feels narrower/smaller than my LG G4.
Is there really anything the Note 5 can't do that the S7 Edge can? Not really concerned with waterproof or SD card. How is the Note 5 processor? The SD820 is probably a little faster but both are plenty fast IMO.
I'd be interested in hearing any FORs and AGAINSTs. I can keep either device right now, what would you choose?

I ended up going with the S7 Edge because of the faster processor, better low light shots with the camera and larger battery. Surprisingly I like the curved screen witch is something I thought I wouldn't. The two phones are top notch so you can't really go wrong with either. My wife has my Note 5 because I really don't want to let it go and she likes it so it makes little sense to get rid of it. The S-Pen isn't of much use for me but I do like the larger screen and excellent camera. Depending on what the Note 6 turns out to be I might go with that but for now it's the edge for me.
Yeah for me it really boils down to pen and screen. I am kind of leaning toward keeping the Note 5 and returning the 7E. I just didn't know if I would lose any software features like themes or something.
I am finding my palms are also tapping the screen and doing stuff with the S7E when I am typing or browsing. I have a hard time holding it without the screen going crazy. I just switched hands and it posted this and opened my Messenger chat head. Lol.
to me expandable storage is big. I have Note 5, i am waiting for Note 6 with expandable storage to get. I would say the s-pen is good but not a big deal. I do like taking notes with s-pen.
Unless s-pen is a must, i think sd card and water resistant is big deal for everyday use.
32gb has always been fine for a mobile. I complained about no SD storage though, which is why they gave me the 64gb version.
The waterproofing is cool but I don't plan on having it in water. Underwater pics are cool though. I have a hauwei watch for pool fun.

Themes will still be there, the only things you lose are the S-Pen related apps. I see what you mean about the accidental screen taps. I haven't used a case in a couple of days and it's pretty annoying especially when I'm trying to take a picture and open up the gallery. I had to return my Otterbox commuter because it kept ripping off my Zagg screen protectors. Hopefully my new case will be better when I get it tomorrow. It sounds like the Note is a better choice for you. I can always switch with my wife if I want.
I just wanted to chime in about picking between the note 5 and s7 edge. When I bought the note 5 last year, I had to live with no sd card and no removable battery. I can fast charge wireless and hard line as well. I don't really use the s pen as much as before. My previous phone, the note 3 i did. I dunno really, cause my wants and needs are different than everyone else. It some time for me to actually LOVE my new note 5, because I was used to having sdcard/removable battery on the note 3. The build quality is very nice on both phones. All metal, beautiful glass and both have marshnallow. My brother actually has a s7, he just got it a few ago and I bought my note 5 last year November.
I used to be a flash aholic on the note 3. We had recovery, roms and root. So after 2 years of being spoiled, I had to finally let go and move from that kind of want or need. Does that make sense? I realzied that I had give up the flashing game, because of the devices getting more difficult to Root. Specificllay Verizon and the Note series phones. So I when it was time to upgrade last year, I gave up the note 3, decided that I can live with the no sd card and non removable battery and said hello to pure awesome sexiness design of the note 5.
Nowadays, I dont find myself waiting on roms to be dropped. Constantly pressing f5 f5 f5 f5 and refresh to see when it dropped. But that was my choice. No more living with compromises, because a rom worked with this app and sor of didnt work with there other apps. If the s7 edge is constantly on your mind and boggling your curisoity, why not get one? From the few days I was able to play with my brother's s7. It feels nice in the hand, Smooth nice edges, good low light camera fast and snappy processor makes it smooth to operate.
Since I gave up on flashing roms, I just wanted a phone that I can use social media, so I can keep contact with my girlfriend. Facebook, instragram, snapchat, twitter, facebook messnger and facebook videocat oh and make phone calls/send text messages to her as well. I found that my note 5 can do these things with no problem what so ever. Well, sorry for being so long and best of luck on picking between the note 5 and s7 edge.
Yea I am thinking of keeping the note5 and returning the 7E. Memory and waterproofing aren't important to me. The Edge is starting to drive me crazy because you can't hold on to it without touching the edge screen. This causes other inputs to be unresponsive.

I might be returning mine too and go back to the Note 5. I got my new case today and this one is screwing with my screen protector too. This is my 2nd edge and never had this much screen protector problems on the many phones I have had. Totally frustrating. With that said I think you are better off with your Note 5...
I owned a LG G2x that had a curved screen like the Edge7 and remember that the screen protector issue was a big one. I stopped using screen protectors years ago though. With the Edge7 I would be cautious but I never planned on using a SP.

Do I like it or not?

Hate to say it because of all the hype surrounding the release of the Note 7 but this phone is not impressing me so far. Sure the waterproofing and edge screen is pretty nice but besides that what do we have above and beyond the Note 5 or even the Note 4? The 7 seems a bit heavier, the edge screen is much easier to damage in the event of a screen down drop, battery life is terrible compared to the Note 4 I'm coming from, Bluetooth connections are not reliable at all with any player I have, speaker sound is not the greatest, and I find the touch screen to be not sensitive enough to the point I have to double and sometimes triple press the screen to select something. Really trying to like it but I don't know?
On the other hand, my wife got the S7 Edge and side by side there's not a huge difference in screen size. Also, her phone is much more responsive to touch input, no Bluetooth issues, bigger battery, and at the moment $150 cheaper than the Note 7 (2 year deal @ Best Buy). I'm contemplating a return to get the S7 Edge and put some cash in my pocket or returning it to wait for the new iphone 7 coming out in a few weeks? Or better yet reactivating my Note 4 which felt pretty good in my hand today when I fished it out of the drawer.
Just felt the need to post my concerns with this new wonder phone and see if anyone else is having second thoughts about their purchase?
I agree. The screen sensitivity is a real issue. Always accidentally selecting stuff when swiping and other times it's hard to select things.

I agree 100%
The blutooth issue is my biggest dislike with the phone. I'm giving Samsung/Sprint 14 days to hopefully push out an update to fix some of these problems otherwise it's gonna be the Galaxy S7 Edge for me.

I just returned from Best Buy with my old Note 4 re-activated and I seem happier now. It was tough not getting the S7 edge with the $199.00 deal BB has right now along with free gear watch or sd card but I'm going to hold out for the new iphone 7 and see what apple brings to the table before I decide.

Each person has his/her own experience. At launch, it is tough to say what issues will last and what won't. The note7 has been great for me, and I'm not experiencing any of the lag, touch screen, bluetooth, or battery issues I've heard others complain of. If you can be happier with a cheaper phone, though, I always say, go for it!

Same for me, its been fine for the most part. I didnt like the keyboard so downloaded google keyboard and that fixed typing problems. BT I've only used my headphones with no issue. Battery has been better that my note 4.
I use Nova launcher, package disabler, google keyboard and SD maid to keep it clean. So far its been good. I put animations at .5 from 1 and turned on force 2D GPU.
For me, battery life has been great and I've had no issues with bluetooth after 5 days of use (so far I've only connected my LG Tone to bluetooth). I'm coming from a Note 3, as opposed to most of you probably coming from a Note 4. I normally would've upgraded to the Note 5 following a 2 year pattern, but didn't for many reasons. It was an internal struggle for me to pull the trigger on the Note 7, but ultimately I couldn't resist. If my current phone was a Note 4 I probably would've waited for the Note 8 2017. At least Micro SD is back with the Note 7. And I'm surprisingly impressed with battery life, although I'm still very skeptical about it's longevity. I would've easily paid the same amount for the phone if they just put in a removable battery. The Edges do nothing for me except make me worry more about dropping my phone. I don't like the fact that it's narrower in width. I realize Samsung is trying to sell more units and suck in as many people as it can, but the Note was made to be a specialty powerhouse device. I personally feel that the regular S series phone should be the main flagship, the S series Edge should be the 2nd fall flagship that battles the Iphone, and the Note series should be geared toward the power users who truly appreciate the phone for it's function and not for it's gimmicks and style. I'm keeping the Note 7 for now, but I'll probably pick up a Note 4 just in case. Do I like it or not? It's still too early to tell, but the cons seem to outweigh the pros. FYI, if you're unhappy with the direction the Note series has been going the last 2 years, let Samsung know about it. I've been sending them suggestions since before the Note 5 was released, requesting a Note Classic version. It would build on from the Note 4 with the highest quality current hardware and software, completely unlocked, etc...
