(Q)Anyone jumped ship from Note 2

Hello
Has anyone defected from note 2? I am really eager to pull the trigger myself. Getting tired of flashing roms just want pure google stock experience. I am having a tough time letting go of this insane battery life tho as well as the 5.5 screen. How is the camera compared to note 2? Thanks for info!

I did but I'm kinda regretting activating my nexus right away because I've lost hotspot now. The speaker Note2 seems louder than the N5. I was having second thoughts about going to a smaller screen but I find it easier to read text on N5. At first the N5 seemed small but they did a good job squeezing a 5in screen in.

I did. Only reason I did though is because my Note 2 screen has been acting up every since I had the glass replaced. I also had the spare battery cradle/charger with the note 2, so going from literally never having to charge my phone (only swap batteries every other day) is going to be pretty rough. Overall I was with you though, tired of flashing roms to get latest android. It is smaller, but definitely not terribly small like some other phones out there. Camera differences are negligible, but I only did a side by side in my room with the light on, so take that for what it's worth.
I'll probably be selling the note 2 on ebay/craigslist once I finally get it fixed. Nexus 5 seems like a solid device, already got some goodies coming for it, including a wireless charging pad.

I'm jumping ship. I'm just tired of having insane specs on a phone just to run TouchWiz. I've tried some AOSP ROMs but seems like there's always a small issue or two that keeps from being a great daily driver. I'm currently on CM 10.1 but still run into issues with GPS and camera.
I'm going to Nexus to run pure Android. I don't need s-pens and cameras watching me watching my phone. My only concern switching is related to Sprint, not N5. Sprint has an awesome visual voicemail feature which doesn't seem to be working well with Hangouts on the Note 2. I'll have to see how voicemail is handled on the N5 since Sprint is hands off.

I am jumping from the Note 2 as well. Just time for something new. I would have gone with the Note 3, but the lack of access to Sprint Spark network was a deal breaker. The size reduction will be welcome, though. Even though I like the Note 2 size well enough, it does get in the way at times.

I also find that when I'm going somewhere where I know I will be heavily surfing the net or otherwise needing a large screen, I take my Nexus 7 or Chromebook Pixel. The need for a phablet, while novel at first, has really just become cumbersome to carry around. I also rarely use the S-Pen. The AMOLED screen always annoyed me too -- way over-saturated (great blacks, though). I look forward to OIS on the N5, as a sharp picture on the Note2 is as rare as hen's teeth. The only things I will really miss are the microSD card, removable battery, and OEM flip cover (with built in back cover).

Wow i didnt expect so many replies in such short time. I agree with most of your comments. The battery might not be that big of an issue. I can buy a spare charger and keep it in my office as well as one in the car and i am covered all the way. Not having to wait for samsung to update the software will be a blessing. Besides 4.3 isnt even out and kit kat will be the last update and it might not even come around till early 2015 the way they are going. They have already decided not to port over all of the note 3 features on the 2. All these years i have been flashing and dealing with bugs and annoyances. Time to get something that works out of the box and gets timely updates.

i was debating between a note 3, g2, and the n5. and it's posts like these that make me glad I waited and am getting the n5. my only other android device is the N4, so bloatware, delayed updates, and bugs with custom roms is something that I thought about, but never put too much weight behind them until i see posts like this

I have a gnii and should get my nexus 5 tomorrow. I am hesitant to goto a smaller screen...I love the gigantic glowing blob of a phone. I have the r950 us cellular note 2...so dev. Is limited. I can wait for the plethora of roms and kernels. The s-pen is cool and all...although i havent ran a stock rom for ages. So i dont think I will miss using it to draw dicks on the snapchats all that much.
have high hopes for the nexus, enough to pay my etf and ditch the contract life. USCC sucks so much. That is another huge reason I'm counting on this new nexus.

QFT. I really liked having a phablet when I didn't have a good small form tablet to turn to. Also, I found that actually writing/drawing on the Note 2 was difficult. I now have a Note 8, which is the perfect size for that kind of functionality. Now I can return to a smaller form factor for my phone.
I, too, will miss the HUGE, removable battery. But those are the breaks. I'm hoping that battery performance for me is at least good enough to approximate my Note 2 use. May be picking up a battery pack at some point, too.

[Q] The Edge or Nexus 6

Hey guys!
New member and first post
If you dont want to read all of those words down below...haha
Ended up getting the Edge and Nexus 6 shipped to me at the same time... Cant open both devices up and test drive them. Leaning towards the edge just because of all the "phablet" features it has. And the N6 is just a big ol phone with stock android...right? Which phone should i keep? Purely suggestions/opions. Please no arguements. Thanks!
I have a bit of a situation and just wnted to get some opinions. I ordered the Nexus 6 the day it was able to be ordered from TMobile, i ordered the 64GB and that went to backorder. Since ive ordered the N6 Ive been looking at the Edge and was swayed to getting the Edge instead of the N6. So the last 2 weeks I callied tmobile to cancel my N6 order and to see if there were any dates on when theyll be getting the Edge back in stock and i kept getting no dates or info. Finally, i checked again last night and the rep told me that the Edge was definitely in stock and if i ordered it it would def ship. So i went ahead and ordered the Edge, but i noticed that my N6 order was still not cancelled so i asked the rep to process a cancellation on it again. The rep did and i was told it may take up to 48hrs.
This morning, i got an email and text stating that my Edge had shipped. Yay. Then about an hr ago i get another email and text saying my phone had shipped, i thought that was weird so i checked the details and, of course, my 64GB N6 just shipped as well haha.
So since i cant open both boxes to test them out i would like to get some input on which phone to keep. What swayed me to the Edge was just the amount of features it has over the N6. Im wanting a phablet to use for work and just to easily take notes, schedules and whatnot and the Edge just seems like the better choice. Please no arguements just want opinions.

I think you already made your decision. As a basketball coach, I like the Note series because of the options that are available. So, if it's mainly about business use get the Edge.

I would suggest you try them both for about 3 to 5 days. You should not let a 50 dollar restocking fee stand between you and your true love

Keep the edge. Nexus 6 has one cool feature I wish the Edge had (front facing speakers) but other than that the Edge trumps the N6 IMO
I've had a ton of phones and the Edge is hands-down the best phone I've ever owned, easy

If you want maximum Performance from latest Snapdragon 805 your choice need to be a Nexus.
I got Edge and I want to tell you I'm about to get Nexus 6 White.

I have both of them as we speak and honestly, The Edge is better in terms of options and need. My Nexus is for my business line and Its basically just simple task phone. i pull it out 2-3 times a day. Just my opinion, but the Nexus is much more "boring" to me. The Edge is versatile and i like that.

Been using the N6 for a couple of days and I just tried out the Edge for a couple of hours today. My thoughts so far...
-The N6 is nice but I like the features that the Edge offers and TouchWiz isn't that bad.
-Not that it matters too much, but the Edge is noticeably lighter than the N6.
-I like the Edge's screen compared to the N6. It seems sharper, to me, and overall looks better.
-And like ingenious247 said, the N6's front speakers is the best feature and it's what's making the decision so hard since I watch a lot of videos and listen to music.

I have been an android phone junky, flasher, and modder for years. I sold my note 3 and bought a nexus 6 (was on sprint). I then changed over to tmobile. Luckily the nexus 6 is factory unlocked (yes the Sprint model is). I used the nexus for 2 weeks and loved a lot about it. I picked up a T-mobile Note Edge yesterday. In the End I am going to sell my nexus and stick with my Note Edge:
Nexus 6:
Pros:
Truly unlocked and can be used with any carrier (Sprint, Verizon, Tmobile, ATT)
Beautiful 6 inch screen
Great front facing speakers (only phone that beat it was my htc m8... thats saying a lot)
Pure stock android OS with quickest update support
Extremely fast performance without slowdown with daily tasks even with tons of apps open
Battery Life (yes, even though the battery is non removable, it lasted me 1.5 - 2 days without recharging)
Turbo Charging - 15 mins gives 6 hours, this is actually true!
No Carrier bloat pre installed (also a con....)
Accessories: Like most phones can get decent cases and tempered glass screen protectors cheaply (although with the nexus you need to order most not much in stores currently)
Wireless charging: Built in support for QI wireless charging (helps makeup for the non removable battery)
Cons:
Signal strength ( some places I have had no issues with other devices, it struggled to hold signal)
Sound quality over some calls was full of static
No wifi calling yet
Non removable battery (i know I said that the battery life is amazing but still option to switch is great)
No sd card slot
Gaming performance disappointing ( Madden nfl has some noticeable slow down... doesn't make any sense with the specs of this phone and no extra bloat from another launcher interface)
Installing carrier apps gave mixed results, some worked but visual voicemail etc, gave problems
No extras : fingerprint reader, stylus, heart rate scanner etc ( i knew this ahead of time, but just saying in comparison with competing phones)
No one handed support (I usually have no issues with large phones even on the note 3/4 ,but did with the nexus). Samsung got it right with the shrinking down to make one handed easier.
Camera : Pictures overall are good, but the built in apps and the speed of camera to react left me disappointed.
Overall: If you want the biggest screen on the latest hardware, want constant up to date software, and no bloat the Nexus is great. It is truly what the "android" experience is meant to be without any adultery. The sound is great as well from the speakers for music and speakerphone conversation. Some disappointment with signal strength and sound on handset during calls but not deal breakers. Truly unlocked for any carrier, so take it to any network and not be tied down.
Note Edge:
Pros:
Amazing Screen (may not be as big as the nexus, but the picture and pop is better and noticeable side by side)
Call quality and signal strength are great. The noise canceling features make a huge difference for those on the other end and never had breakup or static on my end.
Interface and speed : Amazingly fast even with the touchwiz interface
Touchwiz : Yes I am saying this is a plus, Many things like messages coming across the edge screen, quick responses, and being able to send a text to a number that called straight from the history or dialer without adding them as a contact first is something you truly are grateful for once you move to a phone that doesn't have it. The quick are useful as well.
Edge Screen : I have found the tickers and shortcuts to be useful. Some of the features are gimicky but most overall are nice.
Extras: S-pen (great for creativity and productivity), fingerprint scanner, and heart rate scanner.
Camera: Front and back cameras are great and good built in editing options (pictures taping the heart rate scanner makes it a breeze)
Modding support: Samsung devices in general are booming with support for modifications (if you don't care as much about this, this means nothing lol)
Carrier support: Tmobile version is unlocked for ATT as well, this is a plus (not for all carriers like the nexus)
Gaming performance: Pointing out to Madden NFL that I noticed had performance issues on the nexus, runs smooth as silk, no slowdown whatsoever.
Removable battery : Easy swapping of spare
SD card slot: memory expansion and no worries if something happens to the device if you can still pull the card out.
Cons:
Software updates: No official Lollipop from samsung yet, should be out soon. Updates drag a bit with samsung and TW integration.
Accessories: Not many options for phone due to design and limited production. No tempered glass screen available yet (one coming soon supposedly). To me this is a decent concern, I have always counted on tempered glass to protect the screen and avoid scratches. Has saved my screen a couple times from drops. Replacing a screen protect for $15 bucks vs hundreds is huge.
Touchwiz: If you are anti bloat this could be a con, to me its not, but trying to fair to all.
Price: Even with contract extensions the price of the edge is crazy.
Speaker placement: While the speaker may be better than some of the past Samsung devices, the rear placements makes it a pain at times when listening to stuff on speaker.
Battery life: It isn't as good as what I saw on the nexus, doesn't come close to 1.5 -2 days on a charge.
Fast charging: is faster than past samsung devices, but nowhere near as fast as the nexus on turbo charging
Lack of built in wiress charging : At this price point , it is disappointing that this wasn't built in.
Overall: My favorite phone that I have owned so far. The modding support for me will be a huge factor as well. You are paying a hefty price with or without a contract to get it though. The lack of accessories is a bit worrying as well. User experience is very user friendly. Device is extremely fast and multitasks well even with Touch Wiz. Extras like finger print scanner , heart rate sensor and S-pen to me enhance the experience and productivity (heart rate sensor is trivial). One handed support and many things in the software show that it was thought out for user experience to make day to day life easier. Battery life is not what you can get from the nexus but you can carry spares. Addition of "fast charging" is good but not as good as the Nexus. The lack of built in wireless charging is a let down as well. Still the quality, features, and performance to me makes it a clear cut winner.

I also have both, if you are into developing and seeing how far you can push your phone with tweaks mods and hacks than obviously you would want to go with the Nexus, if you are looking for ease of use and everyday functionality than you would want to go Edge..... In my opinion there is really no answer as to which one is better its just personal preference. I can say this though, I only had my Note Edge for about 3 or 4 days when my Nexus arrived from Google Play and I have been using the Nexus ever since. That being said I pulled out the Edge for an issue I had with a wearable and am seriously considering switching back for my daily driver. The S pen and the Gear Manager are the two features that I have decided make it the best choice for daily use. I will keep the Nexus no matter what because it is just the way to go for development purposes. It also allows you to keep your daily user nice and clean and even away from rooting if you are the type that likes to not mess with something thats not broken. Keep em both my friend! I know that if I got rid of one a couple weeks later I would be wanting it back. And I agree with the previous poster, the one feature aside from the development aspects that I really hate about the edge is the lack of forward firing speakers. That and the full 5.9 inch of quad HD display is hard to be beat. I really dont understand why manufacturers spending billions on development cant hire someone to implement forward firing speakers.....

There is a surround sound mod for the edge that fixes this issue. I no longer have anything to complain about on the edge besides the lack of accessories which changes soon hopefully

Nexus 6 User Possible Upgrade

I've had my Nexus 6 since April, along with a couple other flagships but I'm curious to get back with Samsung. The Nexus 6 is great and all, but I'm getting a little bored with it and I'd like something with a better screen.
Does anyone have the Nexus 6?

I've had the Nexus 6. I bought 2 at launch and was really excited about it. I love the speakers but thats about where it stopped. Is has good build quality too. However the screen could not be seen in day light which really annoyed me, even in a well lit place like best buy it was hard to see. Also the battery life was just never great and I suspect that screen was the reason why.
The nexus 6 also doesn't have 1 handed mode, the camera sucked, no s-pen, no multi window. I have a list somewhere of all the reasons I switched from the Nexus 6 to the Note 4 and it was a long one. Found the list lol:
The speaker phone is way laouder on the note during calls
The ear piece is way louder during calls
The proximity sensor sucked on the Nexus 6, it never seemed to be perfect
The rounded back of the Nexus made it really annoying when it was laying flat on a table and you were pushing on the screen
Note has a fingerprint scanner
Auto brightness is better on the note, it didn't go as low or as high on the Nexus
Everything else I mentioned above. Happy hunting!

Thanks for the feedback...you said the Note 4, right? I was looking at either the 4 or the 5 because I'm not convinced the price difference is worth it. The screen is the same resolution and PPI is just about the same, if not identical.
Yea, the internals on the 5 are better, BUT I guess the Exynos or however you spell it is just about Dev proof. At least that's what I've heard. I've seen some of the Dev on the Note 4 and some of the same ROMS I use on my Nexus are available there...so that works for me.
Can the S-Pen be used on any AOSP ROMS at this point?

I currently have a note 4 and a 5. When I made that list I was comparing the Nexus 6 to the Note 4, and since the Note 5 is better than the 4 in almost every way, they all apply as well.
The Note 5 is just an upgraded Note 4. It's screen is better, the battery life better (even though it's smaller) the software is way better, speaker in a better location, vastly superior hardware design, the internals are way better than the Note 4, the new Exynos crushes the 805. Way faster and better looking camera, instant fingerprint scanner (couldn't stand the Note 4 swipe). The s-pen storage on the Note 5 is awesome too. I'm sure there's more.
You can use an s-pen on aosp but you won't get any of the TouchWiz features and will have to rely on third party apps for drawing and editing. Also there will be plenty of Dev stuff for the new Exynos chipset.

I faced this problem myself a few weeks back and must say, I am happy with the change.
I got my Nexus 6 back in December and really, what was so great about it? It was a Nexus - the excitement really stops there. (you mentioned the speakers - I live in Vegas and am an avid rock - crawler in a local jeep club. The speakers did nothing but collect dust which i could never get cleaned. Not well for an OCD person)
Yes, it was easy to modify, root, rom etc. This is doable with Xposed as well. The design of the Nexus 6 reminded me of someone with a beer gut. The back curve just wasn't appealing. I hated the fact that I was limited to a blue phone through T-Mobile. I put a wrap on it but even then - aesthetically it wasn't an appealing phone. As time dragged on, i felt the Nexus slowing down, not performing as well as it had previously. The implementation of WIFI calling brought even more issues. Checking a voicemail on a WIFI call would result in the voicemail logo staying at the top for days. Again - as an OCD person this was slightly annoying. It was even worse listening to my wife complain about it as she refused to allow me to root her Nexus. I also frequently had WIFI strength issues - two devices side by side showing completely different signal strengths on the same router.
The Note 5 is thin, even in a case. Fits much better in my hand. The stylus is cool and the phone has all of the gimmicks that I will probably never use. I purchased the white one - I like how it looks in the case with the white bezels. The phone responds better, reacts quicker and the camera is better ( huge plus - first kid is now 6 months old - I take a lot of pictures and do video calling while I'm at work)
I use the built in Theme Store and really haven't had any issues with the horrid Touch Wiz.
In the end - to each their own. I may have personally set the bar too high being as it was my first Nexus phone and I had heard such amazing stories about them. In the end I was underwhelmed. As much as it kills me to be back on a Samsung Phone - The Samsung Gear S is pretty entertaining and the phone could be a lot worse.

Note 5 or S7 Edge?

Hey guys, been a long time XDA user, looking for input. I have never owned a Samsung device so I am completely new here. I came from a LG G4 that I loved it but wireless charging just melts down after 30-60 days and starts refusing to charge wirelessly. After 6 replacements I am here. My last one also had wireless connection issues.
The S7 Edge looked to be the best 1-to-1 match with screen size/features so thats what I had my mind on. Verizon recommended we swap for a different device and offered me a Note 5 64gb (because of no SD storage). So the Note 5 should be here in a few days.
BUT my mind was focused on the S7 Edge so I just went out and bought a S7 Edge on impulse, full price (thinking I would sell the Note 5 to recoop my money).
After seeing and playing with both, now I am kind of torn. The rounded edges actually feel nice to scroll off of. I think the edge apps have already lost my interest. I used to use "Side Bar" as a quick launcher and eventually just stopped using it.
Being new to Samsung, I semi know about the SPen and some of its features. The Note 5 is also the same width as my G4, so size isn't a factor here. In fact because of the rounded edges, the S7 Edge feels narrower/smaller than my LG G4.
Is there really anything the Note 5 can't do that the S7 Edge can? Not really concerned with waterproof or SD card. How is the Note 5 processor? The SD820 is probably a little faster but both are plenty fast IMO.
I'd be interested in hearing any FORs and AGAINSTs. I can keep either device right now, what would you choose?

I ended up going with the S7 Edge because of the faster processor, better low light shots with the camera and larger battery. Surprisingly I like the curved screen witch is something I thought I wouldn't. The two phones are top notch so you can't really go wrong with either. My wife has my Note 5 because I really don't want to let it go and she likes it so it makes little sense to get rid of it. The S-Pen isn't of much use for me but I do like the larger screen and excellent camera. Depending on what the Note 6 turns out to be I might go with that but for now it's the edge for me.

Yeah for me it really boils down to pen and screen. I am kind of leaning toward keeping the Note 5 and returning the 7E. I just didn't know if I would lose any software features like themes or something.

to me expandable storage is big. I have Note 5, i am waiting for Note 6 with expandable storage to get. I would say the s-pen is good but not a big deal. I do like taking notes with s-pen.
Unless s-pen is a must, i think sd card and water resistant is big deal for everyday use.

32gb has always been fine for a mobile. I complained about no SD storage though, which is why they gave me the 64gb version.
The waterproofing is cool but I don't plan on having it in water. Underwater pics are cool though. I have a hauwei watch for pool fun.

Themes will still be there, the only things you lose are the S-Pen related apps. I see what you mean about the accidental screen taps. I haven't used a case in a couple of days and it's pretty annoying especially when I'm trying to take a picture and open up the gallery. I had to return my Otterbox commuter because it kept ripping off my Zagg screen protectors. Hopefully my new case will be better when I get it tomorrow. It sounds like the Note is a better choice for you. I can always switch with my wife if I want.

I just wanted to chime in about picking between the note 5 and s7 edge. When I bought the note 5 last year, I had to live with no sd card and no removable battery. I can fast charge wireless and hard line as well. I don't really use the s pen as much as before. My previous phone, the note 3 i did. I dunno really, cause my wants and needs are different than everyone else. It some time for me to actually LOVE my new note 5, because I was used to having sdcard/removable battery on the note 3. The build quality is very nice on both phones. All metal, beautiful glass and both have marshnallow. My brother actually has a s7, he just got it a few ago and I bought my note 5 last year November.
I used to be a flash aholic on the note 3. We had recovery, roms and root. So after 2 years of being spoiled, I had to finally let go and move from that kind of want or need. Does that make sense? I realzied that I had give up the flashing game, because of the devices getting more difficult to Root. Specificllay Verizon and the Note series phones. So I when it was time to upgrade last year, I gave up the note 3, decided that I can live with the no sd card and non removable battery and said hello to pure awesome sexiness design of the note 5.
Nowadays, I dont find myself waiting on roms to be dropped. Constantly pressing f5 f5 f5 f5 and refresh to see when it dropped. But that was my choice. No more living with compromises, because a rom worked with this app and sor of didnt work with there other apps. If the s7 edge is constantly on your mind and boggling your curisoity, why not get one? From the few days I was able to play with my brother's s7. It feels nice in the hand, Smooth nice edges, good low light camera fast and snappy processor makes it smooth to operate.
Since I gave up on flashing roms, I just wanted a phone that I can use social media, so I can keep contact with my girlfriend. Facebook, instragram, snapchat, twitter, facebook messnger and facebook videocat oh and make phone calls/send text messages to her as well. I found that my note 5 can do these things with no problem what so ever. Well, sorry for being so long and best of luck on picking between the note 5 and s7 edge.

Yea I am thinking of keeping the note5 and returning the 7E. Memory and waterproofing aren't important to me. The Edge is starting to drive me crazy because you can't hold on to it without touching the edge screen. This causes other inputs to be unresponsive.

I might be returning mine too and go back to the Note 5. I got my new case today and this one is screwing with my screen protector too. This is my 2nd edge and never had this much screen protector problems on the many phones I have had. Totally frustrating. With that said I think you are better off with your Note 5...

I owned a LG G2x that had a curved screen like the Edge7 and remember that the screen protector issue was a big one. I stopped using screen protectors years ago though. With the Edge7 I would be cautious but I never planned on using a SP.

Switching from Note 5 to S7

I have the opportunity to keep any one of these great phones, the Note 5 or the S7. I've been on the Note 5 for months now, and it's been such an amazing phone... it's really hard to change it.
But I've had an S7 for the past weeks, and I've been able to switch for a few days, and then go back to Note. But recently I think I'll be sticking with the S7 and probably sell my Note 5 (I get anxious just thinking about it).
Some of my thoughts for doing this:
1. Soon there will be a Note 6 (and hopefully it will be waterproof, amazing, etc) So selling my Note 5 right now might be a good idea.
2. My hands have actually been thankful for the size change. I have big hands, but damn using a regular S7 feels so good in my hands. It feels a bit heavier, but it's much comfortable to hold.
3. It's waterproof. Initially I didn't make much of it being waterproof, but now I can tell it's quite a big deal. I brings a new level of relaxation regarding phone safety.
4. External SD. Not much to add. It's great.
5. Both have 3000 mAh. It's a decent size. (Though I've got to say that my Note 5 for some reason gives me way better performance. Both stock Rom. Both stock Kernel. Both MM)
So yeah. I guess I'll keep the S7. Smaller size has really felt good. It's a freaking great phone.
What do you guys think?

I'd personally sell the n5 based off the price you will get vs when the n6 gets released.
Also ext SD, waterproof and smaller size is my priority.

Yes, I'm gonna try to sell my Note 5. It's phone I've loved the most.
But you know, I've got a trip coming soon, and God willing I'll be able to take my kids with me. It seems to me that being able to just have that extra SD cards space, and the waterproof advantage, I'd have to be dumb not to take this small S7.
I guess it's the reason that so many reviews are calling it the best phone there is.:good:

Did the same thing too, sold off the N5 three days before it went on sale in my country, managed to score a last-minute pre-order for the S7, though I didn't get the color I wanted (black), but got gold instead.
Anyway, unlike you, I didn't like the Note 5. I actively despised its battery life, found its size too big, and also felt the S Pen was an inconvenience rather than something actually useful. However, there are a few things I've noticed with the two phones:
1. Standby performance is much better on the S7 than Note 5. Maybe it's because my Note 5 was on Lollipop, but despite multiple factory resets, adding a different Google account, etc, the phone never managed to drain under 1% an hour. Maybe the Exynos 8 Octa is helping.
2. Strangely, battery takes longer to charge on the S7. Not slightly longer, but noticeably longer. I remember my Note 5 would juice up from nearly dead to full in 70 minutes no matter what, while the S7 sneaks up closer to 100.
3. Speakers are worse on the S7 than Note 5 IMO, but would gladly pay that price for waterproofing.
4. Reception is also worse on the S7. This seems to be an issue mainly because my Note 5 was a single SIM model (N920I), while the S7 is dual (G930FD). I don't use both SIMs (my second slot has a 32GB Samsung EVO Plus SD card instead), so this was the biggest thing I gave up when switching.
5. Camera is almost exactly the same. Focus is much faster, field of view is wider, but when it comes to the actual quality, there's barely any difference, even in low light (have my dad's S6 edge+ to compare with).
6. And yeah, oh my god, I much prefer the S7's size. I don't have small hands by any means, and nearly bought the OG Nexus 6 a year and a half ago, so the Note 5 was well within what I defined as acceptable. But after using the Note 5 for 7 months, then coming back to a smaller phone, OMG it's so convenient. It's something you don't realize you want until you come back and you think you never wanna give up. Would gladly sell my S7 and get a mini version if that has a 4.8" display or less (any resolution is fine) while the rest of the specs are the same.*
*But despite that I'll probably buy big phones anyway if they match what I want

I made the switch and don't think I can go back to larger phone. I love the S7 size.
