[Q] Best Custom and stable rom for LG G2 D801? - T-Mobile LG G2

Hello,
im new here
and I just got into the flashing and the custom roms scene not too long ago, i found myself flashing and bricking and unbricking my phone in a matter of 4 days..
and i have been looking for a custom rom with a lot of features and that is stable for the LG G2 d801 ( T-Mobile variant )
most of those i found were nightly's or experimental
so im looking for something that has good features and stable something like dirty unicorns... that i couldnt find any download for it..
any help would be appreicated

I use cloudyG3 2.2 (listed as cloudyg2 2.2) and love it. It takes the updated skin of the LG G3 and puts it on the LG G2.
Things lost: Wifi calling and most likely hd voice on t-mobile. Things gained: almost ridiculous battery life, smooth interface.
I've also used Resurrection Remix 5.3.2
Things Lost: wifi calling, hd voice, battery life, xposed support
Things gained: non-skinned Android 5.0.2 with smoother transitions and great performance
In general, look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development
for roms that support D80* as they have wide userbases so more development. Hope that answers your questions.

[Vote] for the best Custom ROM LG Optimus 3D

As the number of custom ROMS or STOCK ROM is growing here and some cooks are providing full/lite/meduim versions I just wanted to get an overview on what to include in a light ROM. So, please give tips on for making the best lite ROM experience as possible
If you are missing an option, please post it...maybe we can collect it here afterwards...
Thanks to this great community!
All of them are pretty identical to be honest with you but...
Where's PeterKing's KingDroid ROM on the list?
This one I mean:
http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=247038
I think that's the best ROM that I have used and he's working on the new version based on V10J

OMG...i miss.
ok, i will update thank's for correction
but..i cannot edit this vote.
i'm so sorry for peterking. i miss your rom.
non at the moment, I'm not gonna vote this. Don't get me wrong and please do not flame me, it is not at all about the developers, I appreciate the developers as everyone does and I thank to everyone for the great custom roms. It is the LG Stock 2.2 roms that suck big time and all roms are based on them at the moment. With the experience with other Android phone, this expensive so called high end phone don't deserve a ****ty rom. I'm only putting up hope with the upcoming official gingerbread rom, probably only then I will get more answer if this phone deserve as a keeper. And from then on, hope Cyanogenmond will have everything 3Ds working.
I'm totally pissed of with the phone due to the rom in many ways.
BTW, my previous old WM6.5 HTC HD2 with ported Cyanogenmod works way better than this LG phone at the moment. What the ****! really!
I fill the same with ^^^^there are to many lg custom roms I'm ready to sale this puppy

Am using the Stock rom. it has everything I need .
I only
installed root
and did few modifications of some files
to improve a bit the JPEG compression (now my pics are round 1,5MB - was about 0,9-1MB)
and video bitrate (about 9-15Mbps - 10sec/15MB - was about 10sec/10MB).
Thats all i need and this works great, has a nice default font and everything is running fine.

I`m totally agree with you.
Current custom ROMs are great and I really appreciate what Devs are doing but the ROM's are basically the Stock ROM without some of LG's apps and a few build.prob tweaks and a different theme.
You can still see some Stock LG in their ROMs. For example, none of them has managed to fully remove LG's Social+ cause you can still see it in Setting>Accounts & Sync even though they removed the Widget.
My only hope was CyanogenMod but the current one is waaaay too unstable and buggy.
I kinda regret selling my old Xperia X10. It had a huge amount of amazing ROMs to choose from.
Oh well...
right now the stock rom or thiaiz rom which uses the stock kernel is good.every other rom i used makes me sick...feels like my old captivate was faster even having a single core..i suggest everyone just stay on the stock and use some tweaks till GB is out..then maybe we can see some hope!
if it wasnt for the 3d stuff i would have never bought this phone!! i would have gone for sgs2!!

Hi mate.I'm comming from HTC Desire and SGS2. Every single ROM in boths forums looks the same.Stock, cyanogen or MIUI(chinese cyanogen copy) based with build.prop and themes tweaks. What you guys expect HTC Sense running on O3D ? What they have that we dont is custom Kernel and GB, and we have 3D + 3D converter. But I agree LG did a big mistacke with Froyo and that can cost them a lot.

So you're angry just because it says 2.2? I can tell you how to make the info about say eg. 3.9.9 if you'd like Be happy that the stock rom is stable without any troubles. My opinion is to better have not the newest version but the one which is stable, and this is what LG did - its stable, not crashing, compatible with all official apps. I had many smartphones and its not that common that a stock offical rom runs so smooth as 10D made by LG, believe me.
And, the update to 2.3 will be released during October, so you dont need to wait such long to get rid of 2.2 the official way
Gingerbread will be release on oct
hi all...
Yesterday LG say October will release GB for LG Optimus 2x, Optimus Black and Optimus 3D. so...patient please

tbh i love the phone...
I bought it for the 3d video recording. 2 complaints though:
1. poor bluetooth stack (my iControlPad would be a perfect fit for Mario64 in 3D) and
2. the audio quality on the video recording is appalling. I hope GB fixes this (or a custom rom!
I would be happy to contribute very generously to any dev that can fulfil my 2 gripes.
Im happy with my stock rom. What i need is everything the same as are (the same launcher,3d space) everything as stock, just would be good to have rooted phone and better video photo quality, of course faster is better too. but its fast enough for me after htc wildfire so does whis forum has what i need?

I flashed the stock V10j (Australian one) and I don't know why but it was slow and laggy. so I went back to King3D v1.8 for now until ThiaiZ release v.1.3 of his ROM.
On the positive note, the Converter app was cool but when you convert a game to 3D, it became a little laggy. (The ROM had Angry Birds Rio by default. When converted to 3D, it wasn't very smooth but it was awesome nonetheless)
I didn't notice any other changes compare to V10e.
Cheers and sorry for my bad English.

Brand new G3!

At 1:15 today ill be picking up my new G3 from the AT&T store! incredibly excited!
I have been using the G2 and messing with it for months so i just hope i have the same range of options with this phone, which leads me to ask...
What are some of your favorite things about this phone? what are your favorite roms, mods, theams, tweaks? and lastly, are there any things about this phone i should know about before messing with it too much, like any common issues that will be frustrating?
Thank you all for your time, i look forward to seeing if anyone has any suggestions for me

The most frustrating thing about this phone is that any custom ROM's that are available tend to eat more battery than stock. The absolute best ROM for this phone ATM is the Cloudy G3 ROM which is a stock ROM that is debloated and had a few extra features thrown in. Everything works spectacularly well on this ROM and battery life is phenomenal. But hey, throw on Nova Prime launcher and make it your own, the possibilities are endless. LOL

That's funny, because i found the exact same thing with my G2! I hated every ROM until i used Cloudy G3 and i loved it!
Unfortunately at one point my G2 hard bricked and i kinda blamed it on how many times I've changed ROM'S and recovery's i had tried, and since i was using Cloudy at the time i really felt it was partly because of it. And after i replaced the Mobo i kept it stock but always missed it lol.
Just rooted my LG G3 ATT with avicohh's tool and it was a smooth transaction. I'd like to find just a stock ROM that is already debloated but honestly it's smarter for you to use Titanium and choose what apps you don't want to be a part of your system. If I see a strong response to better battery life on a specific ROM I might flash it but until then it's stock with minor modifications to storage/RAM hogging features. You'll love your G3. It's different to a degree but it's snappy and tough. The default icons for apps is pretty bad which is my only gripe so far and of course button placement forces you to use screen taps to lock/unlock. Make sure your case has a pretty good space between the cutout and your flash/sensor/camera on the back. Tight cuts in that area make the camera less effective due to reflecting or blocking light.

Is this still the best option for optimal battery life on the G3? It's about time I flashed something worthy.

Cloudy is the only ROM I will run on mine until someone else comes out with a stock based ROM that is worthy. I have tried several of hte variants built from CM source, and don't get me wrong, they are very fast, stable and are for the most part daily drivers. But none of the CM variants have the G3 camera and none that I have found have the awesome battery life that I experience with Cloudy.

I found one on this site that I've liked quite a bit, forget what its called though.
so far my only issue with this phone is my inability to install xposed framework and get the g3 tweakbox. apparently since i have lollipop on my phone its a nightmare.

Well that's great news because I'm running lollipop haha but fortunately I didn't used xposed much on my last phone so perhaps I won't need it this time around either.

Yeah I'm sure you won't XD. But for me i used it on my G2 and i customized every little thing to the point where it was exactly the way i like it, and i wish i had that ability with the G3

Does this phone just hate custom ROMs?

I don't see many options here. Mostly stock roms in this forum topic. I had a ton of problems with boot loops and such and just couldn't get anything to work. OTAs still force a bootloop sequence unless I zero out: "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc". I just disabled the notification for them and everything is fine now, but I was wondering if there was any point to using anything other than the stock ROM.
I kept root and just removed TMO bloatware. The 4.4.2 stock ROM seems pretty damn fast, but I have nothing to compare it too. I'm basically just trying to decide if it's even worth it to attempt another ROM install. Are there any real advantages to any of the other ROMs out there over stock? I'm looking for stability above all else, then speed. Features I don't really care about.

Stock or at least stock based with dorimanx kernel is about as good as it gets for tmo...most of our developers have moved on to newer devices...and non tmo roms don't have Wi-Fi calling

yeah wifi calling is irrelevant to me, but frankly this stock ROM is amazing compared to the performance of my Relay 4G.... H/W keyboard android phones RIP.
Cheers
I have the Intl version which sports more custom roms but they are all the same more or less.... im on stock KK too even though i was a die hard software updater (had 5.1.1 on previous Nexus 4).
Have to agree with you this phone hates modding and is really feeble, it will get bricked quite easy unlike the Nexus 4 which can take a lot of abuse
Try the new cloudy rom. It's a port from LG G4 with various elements.
why dont you guys check in the G2 Android Development. most roms cover all variants there.
For me CynaogenMod's Privacy Guard feature is a must-have on any Android phone. But right now I'm finding that the official CM12 nightlies seems to screw up the modem settings for my local carrier here in Canda (Wind), so I lose access to the service. Constructive suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

User Experience: the most stable Rom for AT&T G3

Hello ,
I am tired of changing roms and experiencing new bugs while the developers has already left the thread and the Rom is already abandoned --> "trying" the newer roms that are going to be abandoned soon again and again and again for getting to the mirage land of stability. AT&T D850 users, PLEASE introduce me to the most stable rom that you are using for months with the "least" random reboots, overheating, boot loops, bluetooth bugs, wifi password resets, compass calibration problems (if it is not the LG built-in gift), etc.
I will really appreciate you sharing your experience with me.
All the Best,
i try Candysix v1.0 he is nice rom
I'm running CM12.1 (Unofficial) with nightlies and TWRP 3.0 and I've had it for about a week now.
I use this phone for my business, so I MUST have it be reliable. So far I've been ecstatic with the performance and stability.
Everything runs smoother, faster, and the phone feels like it's brand new. I also hated most of the LG apps and feel that Google's apps are simply better all the way around.
I even like the CM camera app over the stock LG camera (even though I lost the laser focus... which I never thought worked that well).
This is by far the best experience I've ever had with a phone. This is my first Android phone after owning several iPhones. It took some time to get used to the customizability of an Android phone over an iPhone. CM12.1 is customization on steroids. EVERYTHING is changeable.
The ONLY thing I've encountered is this...
Sometimes (only about 2% of the time) a call only rings once and then immediately go to VM. The caller reports hearing the phone ring over 4 times before the VM picks up. I haven't figured out what is doing this... But I'm working on it.
HTH
CM13 unofficial. I've only been using it for a few days, but it far surpasses any other ROM I've tried, especially stock. It doesn't have problems with the SD card like that stock junk does.
Hell Yeah Fulmics
Flumics 2.7 is the most stable Rom for G3...

need some info about g3

Hello
im thinking about buying this device (2gb version for 20eur) but i need to know if cm and other custom roms are good or better than stock rom? Is everything working in custom roms, what about battery life?
I currently own lg l90 so i think it would be some kind of update.
Thanks for your input.

Everything works, there are no known bugs with custom roms that are user effecting... All CM-based ROMs have an issue showing the connection icon properly, meaning you might be connected with HSPA+ but the icon will display it as HSPA (H instead of H+) or 3G instead of HSPA, but this is only an issue with the visual indicator the connection works properly.
Now battery life is a tough to say, Moto built their ROM and kernel lean and well optimized to the hardware... Early on custom ROMs had a lot of difficulty getting close to the battery life of stock but now they are quite close, with a solid ROM, some tweaking, and a custom kernel you can get the same as stock, or slightly better, battery life.
This phone is pretty friendly to the flasher, it is not difficult to unlock, root, or flash custom ROMs and it is difficult to hard brick it. There are some really talented developers with it as well and LOTS of roms to chose from. If you can get this device for €20 and it isn't carrier locked or subsidized (many subsidized devices can't be bootloader unlocked), go for it, it should work well for you.
