I just got root access through the latest method on my Z3 Dual (D6633).
It doesn't appear like there's a XZDualRecovery dedicated for the Dual model. Can I simply flash standard Z3's one?
i tested it on mine and works great.. (Z3-lockeddualrecovery2.8.1-RELEASE.installer) make sure to mount system as R/W before installing, otherwise u'd be stuck like i was for 30 mins

The phone won't let you. There is a thread in general section that shows you what happens.

Wierdly i had a problem where my M2 was having a freeze issue after update through sony where it would crash and then boot up with an error and a non functioning touchscreen. every boot up did this. I plugged into the computer and backed up the phone with the sony software and then did a recovery on the phone. Once the phone was back to zero, I tried to restore the backup. It would only let me restore music and photos saying that I was flashing a D2306 backup to a D2303 phone. Sony had repaired my phone with D2303 software!!! I did another restore on the phone and all back to normal so I think there might be some compatiility between 2303 and 2306 but basebands may cause problems. however, try not to risk it anyway!
Hello. My xperia m2 says that there are no updates and the phone is up to date but it's with android 4.4.2. Theres 1 secound delay in the sound when I play games or use downloaded apps like youtube also the audio doesn't sound very good. To fix that I need to update the android version but I cant. I connected the phone to my computer and updated it with sony PC companion but the version is still 4.4.2. What should I do? I don't want to use flashtools or anything. I think it's the phone's fault for that and I should give it back to the place where I bought it so they can fix that. The phone is brand new and they already changed my camera because it wasn't working. So what should I do?
I suppose it has to do with the Country of your phone and/or if it is branded. IF after using PC Companion it's still with 4.4.2 I'm afraid your best (and only) option is to use Flashtool. Not sure how it works if it is branded though, you may need to to something to be able to de-brand it.
Well, actually try first to check if 4.4.4 is available in this way:
- Dial *#*#7378423#*#* (*#*#service#*#*)
- Check the number in Service Info/SW Info/Customization version. You just need the xxxx-yyyy part
- Downdload and install Flashtool (it's small. You just need it for checking)
- Run Flashtool
- Go to Devices/Check Updates
- Select your phone double clicking on the id xxxx-yyyy you have got before.
- If the version is 18.3.C (like the one for 3 UK) there is no 4.4.4. the latest ROM is 4.4.2. It must be 18.3.1.C for 4.4.4
My is branded from T-mobile, and i flashed CE ftf to debrande, everything is good except i don't have extra apps that T-mobile puts in. As i know your safe flashing ftf cos it's official Sony's software, just using Flashtool instead of PC Companion and you won't lose warranty, as long as you don't unlock bootloader.
Good Luck.

Do I install the flashtool on my computer or on my phone?

Obviously on the computer. It's needed to flash the phones from it. Just google it, you find it immediately. Then if you decide to flash a generic 4.4.4 FTF just search around. There are dozens of guides in the Internet.
Alright thanks for your support guys
Hey,
I got an Xperia Z3, latest lollipop update 5.1.1 no root or unlocked bootloader. The phone is locked from factory, checked on sony site to unlock it and i cannot, it says in the phone menu when i enter that code that i cannot unlock it.
So the question is: is there any sound mod like the ones already here on xda, but an apk like so i could just install like a normal app? Or if there is no posibility whatsoever is there any chance i can root the phone without using sony website? Been trying to find tutorials but to be honest i do not know what to look for. Everything i found i had to check with sony site at some point and that doesn't work for me.
You should try a music player apk bro, I recommend the full version ore pro version of that player.. It should do the trick..
Goodluck
Hi all,
Im brand new to Android and this forum so go steady....
I have an xperia M2 running 5.1.1 Lollipop and I successfully manged to root it. I then tried to install the CyanogenMod CM 12.1 using their official website.
Download here download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=nicki
Tutorial here wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_nicki
I cant post the actual links because im still a noob.....
My bootloader was already unlocked so I skipped the first step and went straight Installing CyanogenMod. After completing step 4 and restarting the phone the screen went black, I knew the phone was on because of the vibration when it turns on. I have since managed to flash a stock ftf file and wipe the phone which has put it back factory.
So my question is, what did I do wrong? Wrong file? Wrong input on Windows CMD?
The end goal was to install the Flux CM 12.1 Theme but obviously I didn't get that far, any help would be great, thanks.
I have locked bootloader so i don't know for sure
you need to update your bootloader via Emma or flash ftf that @linuxct have made than you can flash CM
Good Luck!

I'd already done that, i followed a guide on here that unlocked the bootloader then i followed another guide to root the phone. All that went perfect, its the above that gave me the problem.
it's not a nikki device (isn't the original m called nikki)it's called Eagle the m2 is and I don't think there is a official build for Eagle m2 there are unofficial builds available on here,Facebook and g+ Although my bootloader is still locked aswell I'd say your trying to flash the totally wrong software for your phone and should do some more Reading before you turn your m2 into a paperweight.

Ah of course, Eagle...that makes sense! Thanks....i'll do some more 'reading' :good:
I've been trying to root my Xperia Z5 Dual, and was able to get it working. However, I was unable to receive any updates from Sony (as they don't support rooted devices) so am looking into some custom ROMs (such as LineageOS, and CarbonROM), since I still want security updates (especially since the device is still vulnerable to the BlueBorne exploit). From what I've seen, these ROMs work on the single SIM variant, so I was wondering if there's any way to get them working on the dual SIM variant? I've been at this for the past few days but I've only found stock ROMs which work, none of the custom ROMs I've tried seem to work at all.
What's happened so far when I try to get them working is I end up on the Sony logo and nothing ever loads. I'm fairly new to this still so I don't understand everything about it yet.
EDIT:
I was also wondering if there's any other way to protect against the BlueBorne exploit? I'm assuming there isn't however (other than to keep Bluetooth off but I'd rather not do that).
EDIT 2:
You can delete this, based on the research I've done it doesn't seem possible to get a custom ROM for the Xperia Z5 Dual, nor does it seem possible to get the BlueBorne security patch from any source but Sony itself (as such I've relocked the bootloader and am using the Xperia Companion program to repair the device; I hope to look into rooting it once I've gotten the security patches however but I'll be going about it a different way; no trying different ROMs unless I find a custom ROM which will work).
