Has anyone tried changing the dpi(without root) on the note edge? - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/root-want-to-modify-dpi-t2960644
I've rooted my HTC evo, and my note and note 3. I've since switched to Verizon where I hear root is probably a Longshot. At the same time my companies new email program won't work with rooted phones, so I may not be rooting my note edge anyway. I think I'm ok with that with 1 exception, the dpi. I hate having such a huge screen taken up by just huge icons. I saw this link saying it's possible to edit dpi on the note 4 without root. Will it work on the edge?

I think camera app doesn't work properly

[Q] Screen Mirroring

Does this only work to view files from phone on tv thru all share or can we actually mirror the phone on tv?
Works for both.

How? I have a Samsung smart TV and it will show for all cast but does not allow screen mirroring.
Sprint - Galaxy S5 - Moto X - Nexus 7 LTE
First question is does the tv do "all share cast" aka "screen mirroring".
The smart tv's only added the feature no more than 2 or 3 years ago. Post your model number and I'll check if you like.
I am assuming you have both devices on the same WiFi network.
On my tv, I just change the input to screen mirroring and it shows up the phone's list in the screen mirroring setting list.
There may be some settings on the tv that needs to be set, but I'll have to check later.

Also remember if you guys are using the RDDT rom it will NOT work. I went to BestBuy and I had to flash stock kernel and run triangle away for it to connect to several TVs in the store. Infact I flashed my kernel right in front of a Samsung rep and downloaded triangle away and ran it. Was able to connect to any Samsung SmartTV as well as a few LG SmartTVs.

Also this was FULL screen mirroring. Meaning everything I did on my phone was displayed to an audience of BestBuy customers.

Very cool
Might keep in mind that even though Samsung states that Smart TV's manufactured in 2012 and later work with AllShare Cast screen mirroring not all the models are compatible without the additional hub. I have a Samsung UN46C6900VFXZA LED Smart TV which I believe was manufactured in 2012 and it does not have built-in compatibility with screen mirroring. I believe at that time it was only on the 7000 models and above. So I would need the extra AllShare Cast hub in order to do screen mirroring over WiFi. I chose to never purchase the hub because too many of the reviews were negative about the quality of the stream so I just use an HDMI cable.

Thank you for the info. And I was going crazy trying to activate the "Nearby Devices" with AllShare. It wouldn't turn on no matter what on my RDDT.
The Q is, is there going to be a work around on this on their next update?
The problem is the custom kernel. You would have to have a stock samsung kernel for allshare services to work period. On older devices like Note 2 and Galaxy S2 you need stock kernel plus triangle away. So it seems like a work around is not possible. But if you enjoy RDDT, just use the rom and flash a stock kernel like I did.

I'm starting to think the devs don't even care much about getting this to work with custom kernels. It has been years since allshare cast (screen mirroring) surfaced. Still, nothing. We are always forced to remain stock for these features to work. Some CM roms claim to have this feature working but I'm no witness to that.

09-27-2016 ota gps fix?

Hi guys,
Woke up this morning to a T-Mobile OTA was out of it and I pressed yes and it was about 500mb.
First thing I did was test the GPS and got a very fast and accurate lock.
I usually never get a lock and its always searching.
Can anyone confirm.
Thanks!!
no updates here .
Is there any way I can tell which update it was?
GPS seems to be running fine since I updated.
No updates here either. Wish there was though, I hate the GPS on this phone.
I'm about to update soon, no show of what it really does, it's a hefty update for sure half a gb, has to be good update, wish it were nougat though lol.
I see the update here, but I'm rooted running custom theme, etc. Can anyone who's installed the update confirm that it didn't mess with root?
EDIT: Nevermind. I am the dumb. Just read some other threads
I just got mine this morning I'll double confirm.

Mine isn't locking on my actual location but, close.
On the plus side it was super fast to get my approximate location and lock lol.

Did nothing for GPS
Hey y'all.....what should my current versions say? I just got the phone today after taking back my S6 Edge that I had gotten the other day, and unlike the S6 Edges million updates, I received none when I set this phone up. Idk how that's possible if its a new phone. In suspecting they gave me a refurbished phone.

Truth Snooper.

Hi. Someone installed a spying app called Truth Snooper on my friend's unrooted Note 3. How can we remove or access it without login/account information?
I can't tell you how creepy this feels.

I can imagine this is quite annoying. I'd say factor reset... But that would undo everything mind you what's worse lol:/. And not being rooted might be annoying lol. Tbh I can't find any information out about this app. It's called Truth Snooper?
I shall do some searching and thinking.
---------- Post added at 01:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:22 PM ----------
What ever you do! Don't login to anything on it. Most spying apps have keyloggers!
---------- Post added at 01:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:25 PM ----------
Hello . So I've done some. Digging and honestly can't find anything about this. Assuming this app doesn't have a hook. As it's not a rooted phone I don't imagine it's possible it will have hooked itself into system files. Unless the guy managed to root, install then. Hide everything? Lol. I'm just guessing.
Give root checker a whirl? Worth a try.
Apparently this app works: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antispycell.free&hl=en
But in all honesty if that doesn't work factory reset and full wipe of internal storage is your only choice :/ as your not rooted you can't go into folders and start removing stuff. I'm really sorry this has happened and it is horrible. But in future I'd suggest your friend doesn't leave his/her phone lying around.
I'm sorry . For every good intentioned app (assuming you think spying on your kisds doesn't sound like a gross invasion of their privacy) there is 4 bad intentions it can be used for :/.
---------- Post added at 01:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:33 PM ----------
Also my suggestion is reset all your passwords. Make sure nothing can be taken.
Thank you for your advice.
Factory reset it is.

That should probably do the job but be aware that it may not if the malware has rooted the phone or compromised it via some other exploit. So you should check with several root checking apps. If rooted then you need to reflash ROM as factory reset does not touch many of the partitions. Also the external SD card is not touched (normally) by either method so that may be a potential route to be reinfected, so too open ports on your wifi. The phone may not even have to be "fully rooted" to be infected if some security vulnerability has been exploited to escalate privileges.
Also you should submit the suspect file to virustotal and scan phone with some decent anti malware app before and after cleaning. If it was me I'd also install an app like AFwall to check and see if there were any attempts being made to connect to suspect servers.
Factory resetting may remove the app.

Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds Recommendations for an ex-Viper4Android user

I used to root my phones primarily for 2 reasons: adblock and Viper4android. Blocking ads is easy for non-root, but Viper is another thing...Now that I'm on a verizon Pixel 3 with a locked bootloader, I'm in the market for a good set of wireless earbuds that can compare to the audio quality I've came to know and love from Viper. I'm no audiophile by any means, but definitely miss the deep bass and clarity that Viper can push out. I use Spotify for all my music, so I'd be interested if there's any good recommendations for some wireless earbuds that sound just as good as Viper.
