IMO it's the perfect OS for a smartwatch. Android wear is terrible.

Yeah Android Wear is terrible.

Nope
It is sony stuff

I think it is because most of my work is related to browsing and whenever I searched about browsing on Sony SW2, I found pretty much good results for website browsing.

Its not the first time Apple pulled it down. I have it on my iTouch and it runs like a dream. The developers had nothing to do with it being pulled.

It was removed due to licensing problems. Android market and app store have two different policies. VLC has been announced to be on Android early 2011.
http://www.androidcentral.com/vlc-media-player-set-arrive-android-early-2011
Now, the news comes that VLC will be releasing an Android App come early 2011. So most likely it'll require Gingerbread (2.3 and above)
According to sources, the developers have been hard at work on VLC for Android for months now but have been thus far defeated by its Java system limitations. The improvements made within Gingerbread and the Android NDK now allows development to chug on with no issues

“On January 7th, Apple removed VLC media player from its application store for iDevices,” wrote Denis-Courmont on the VLC Web site. “Thus the incompatibility between the GNU General Public License and the AppStore terms of use is resolved – the hard way. This end should not have come to a surprise to anyone, given the precedents.”

I've successfully built VLC from source and it works fine on my HTC Desire Android 2.3. You can download it from http://blogs.unbolt.net/index.php/brinley/2011/08/10/vlc-for-android-is-looking

Seems to work great on the NS! Video playback is smooth.
The only issue I've found is that it doesn't remember playback position if you stop a video and start it again later.
Otherwise, a pretty decent video player. Great Job!

Android 1.6 Youtube Apk Anyone?

So I have a cheap budget 5 in tablet. It handles youtube mobile video very well, but it has a wonderful time trying to actually load videos in the youtube apk. So does anyone have a older version? Maybe like android 1.6 old since maybe it can work with that.

although i found this http://forum.gtvhacker.com/nsz-gs7-streamer/
yeah, found that too. Looks like GTV Hax is being coy about releasing the updated root. Sony plugged all the holes quickly.

I think they should not even advertise the Google play store: very very limited on what you can download.
I d/l stuff on my Kindle Fire HD & transfer it over. A lot of it works anyway, as long as it's not too touchscreen dependent. Be nice if we could get root (it exists), but it's being kept from the general population.

any news on a jellybean update?
I sold mine. It was awful, slow, laggy device. Cool at first, but novelty wore off. Better off buying a computer and using a wireless keyboard and mouse app for your phone.

[MOD] Somebody enabled Miracast for Nexus 7

I just found this on GitHub:
Somebody, called Kensuke, enabled Mircast (Streaming screen over WiFi) for the Nexus 7. I don't have mine here so I can't test it.
Maybe somebody can try it out.
It seems that he compiled the complete 4.2.2 ROMs with the addional Miracast Support.
Try it on your own Risk!

awesome! Cm should merge this feature. And now, we know Miracast is a software-related not hardward-related. Oh yeah.

Oh man I hope this gets baked into some ROMs! This is the one feature that I really want that the N7 doesn't have...
I would love this baked into a ROM
Would love to see this become a common feature for Roms.

Tried the Tilapia package for my 3g. It almost works. I'm going to play with it some more. Documentation for his app would be great. It's not straightforward.
Have there anyone a image now?

If someone would like to test it I did include the patch on my ROM, take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43489843#post43489843
So anyone able to verify this working?
Working fine here.

Well this is exciting. Hopefully there's enough demand for it so we won't be limited to just a handful of ROMs to take advantage of this.
I wonder if there is any way a mod like this could be packaged into an Xposed module? Or is it such a fundamental change that it has to be baked into the ROM?
I would test this out if I had a Miracast receiver already. Also I don't want to lose the tethering menu in my current tilapia ROM, so ideally if a ROM had both Miracast & tethering that'd be great.

So you streamed your screen to your TV, no problems at all?
Is it smooth? How much does the Allshare dongle cost, I should get this instead of Android stick PC.

Tried both allshare cast dongle and Android TV stick (dual core rk3066 one), all works. Pretty much the same experience as my Nexus 4 with native wireless display.
With android TV stick, it lags a lot. Definitely not for gaming, no. But with allshare cast dongle, it works much much better..
In my country, the dongle cost me around $80

Video screen cap

As a bit of a newbie to android (last played with a Desire running a Gingerbread os 12 months+ ago)... I found the vol+power screen cap short cut, but is there a similar thing for video capture or do I need an app?

You'll need an app unless you're using developer software with your Android device plugged in to your PC. Android 4.4 KitKat comes with built-in abilities to record your display as a video, but again, you'll need desktop software to do that - free, mind you: Android SDK and in the DDMS panel in Android Studio
