I'd be surprised, it got pulled from the iPhone app store a couple of weeks ago.

Its not the first time Apple pulled it down. I have it on my iTouch and it runs like a dream. The developers had nothing to do with it being pulled.

It was removed due to licensing problems. Android market and app store have two different policies. VLC has been announced to be on Android early 2011.
http://www.androidcentral.com/vlc-media-player-set-arrive-android-early-2011
Now, the news comes that VLC will be releasing an Android App come early 2011. So most likely it'll require Gingerbread (2.3 and above)
According to sources, the developers have been hard at work on VLC for Android for months now but have been thus far defeated by its Java system limitations. The improvements made within Gingerbread and the Android NDK now allows development to chug on with no issues

“On January 7th, Apple removed VLC media player from its application store for iDevices,” wrote Denis-Courmont on the VLC Web site. “Thus the incompatibility between the GNU General Public License and the AppStore terms of use is resolved – the hard way. This end should not have come to a surprise to anyone, given the precedents.”

I've successfully built VLC from source and it works fine on my HTC Desire Android 2.3. You can download it from http://blogs.unbolt.net/index.php/brinley/2011/08/10/vlc-for-android-is-looking

Seems to work great on the NS! Video playback is smooth.
The only issue I've found is that it doesn't remember playback position if you stop a video and start it again later.
Otherwise, a pretty decent video player. Great Job!

Zumocast by Motorola media streaming app

Installed and working fine in my transformer...able to watch all my movies and listen to all my music. Click link for the Phandroid article about it. You can download the patched app there.
Zumocast
Mod Edit:
Zumocast Apk (v1.1.3 & Rotation Now Available)
This app is distributed on a thread started by str8upx on XDA but I am the one who hacked it and added rotation support. Since I have a TF101 the patched version will always work on the transformer. I meant to release the updated 1.1.3 version yesterday but had a ssd failure on my PC. It will be out late tonight instead.

That app is actually from a user here on XDA
Zumocast Apk 10/17/11
Latest version
Attached is the patched copy of the recently released version 1.1.3. In general the app works well but there are definitely some bugs. For instance seeking in audio files has been broken for a couple of versions. These bugs are inherited from Motorola and until they fix them they are likely to remain.
To tell the truth I don't even use the app anymore but continue to patch versions as they are released. I mainly used it to stream video and now use skifta instead.
Hi
I just wish to say "Thank you" for thise. I was looking for free app wich coud do exactly that.
Thanks

Watch TV on Android

There's a pretty nice app on the market called Androidvideo Recharged. It has many tv shows to stream to Android. It doesn't use flash, so it is compatible on more devices than most streaming apps.
Cheers , but I do prefer Icestream.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.stonyx.icestream
It can't be beaten, and its free.
Thanks for your suggestion though.
Regards
IceStream uses flash though, and just links to other sources on the internet that you can go directly to on your browser.. They can be removed at any time also. Androidvideo has their own servers and can ensure that videos won't randomly be removed.

Don't forget to tell everyone that the app is free but you have to pay to watch anything.
I prefer SPB TV, it has not that many channels, but enough for me, and it's free.

You don't have to pay to watch anything. What are you talking about. They do have a premium membership but they also have free videos. If your not smart enough to figure that out, maybe you.shouldn't be on XDA.

Ice stream isn't even on the market anymore and none of the links on my version of the app work anymore nor have they for weeks. Least with androidvideo, when they have a server problem, they have their videos back up within days, not weeks.

The best apps that have been pulled from the Android Market...

NOTE: These apps do not exist on the android market any longer because they in some way violated the market's ToS.
I thought this would be a very informative thread for everyone to add to, though I can only think of a few off the top of my head. Please, Add great apps that have been pulled from the market to the list.
I have updated the list to refelct all those mentioned as of 01-04-2012:
Grooveshark - stream songs and playlists via your grooveshark account
WifiKill - view and kick off users on a wireless network
ShootMe - screen capture app
Super Mario live wallpaper - watch mario go through three levels in the background
Icestream - Stream or download movies, tv shows, music, and more for free
Ghosttown - use youtube to search for and stream songs
Gtunes - Search and download single songs
Gameboid - Gameboy emulator
Bitsblock - A tetris variant
Snesoid and nesoid emulators
Openhome launcher - a launcher (unsure of why it was pulled...?)
These types of threads have been done before, but usually are more along the lines of "best apps to have for root users", etc... I am interested in knowing of more and will add others as I think of them. Please contribute!
I like this idea. Ill come back and add more as I think of them..
[*] Gtunes - allowed you to dl music
[*] Applanet - check it out (last attachment)...and if you like it, i'd love if you hit that *thanks*

WifiKill is not found in the market.
I also hate when an app isn't available for your particular device, even though you know damn well your device can run the app (having tested other ways). The whole Market thing is kinda frustrating. And now I have to have the Google Market AND the Amazon Market for my apps, and neither will just filter the FOSS apps, which is what I mostly want anyway.
I think bitblocks was the best version of tetris yet on android. It was removed. Also Snesoid, and Nesoid, though I understand the author was violating the GPL, so what can you do....
ShootMe..... very nice n funny... so tx for share... love dat game...

Android 1.6 Youtube Apk Anyone?

So I have a cheap budget 5 in tablet. It handles youtube mobile video very well, but it has a wonderful time trying to actually load videos in the youtube apk. So does anyone have a older version? Maybe like android 1.6 old since maybe it can work with that.

i would like to know to...
although i found this http://forum.gtvhacker.com/nsz-gs7-streamer/
yeah, found that too. Looks like GTV Hax is being coy about releasing the updated root. Sony plugged all the holes quickly.

I think they should not even advertise the Google play store: very very limited on what you can download.
I d/l stuff on my Kindle Fire HD & transfer it over. A lot of it works anyway, as long as it's not too touchscreen dependent. Be nice if we could get root (it exists), but it's being kept from the general population.

any news on a jellybean update?
I sold mine. It was awful, slow, laggy device. Cool at first, but novelty wore off. Better off buying a computer and using a wireless keyboard and mouse app for your phone.
