[Q] Use Shield portable as wireless controller? - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This weekend, I picked up a nice Shield tablet for $200 off of Craigslist. The seller threw in a Shield portable for $50, and while it works perfectly I was hoping to use it as a wireless controller for the tablet (larger screen). Does anyone know if this is even possible?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] what type of cable to go from the TF to an HDTV?

I was at Walmart today looking at the HDMI cables....I plan on hooking my TF up to my HDTV...and all that WM had was normal sized HD cables...
What cable do I need? Is it called "Mini-HDMI" to HDMI?
HDMI Mini to HDMI Male...
Get one from Amazon, I bought the cheapest one I could find on Amazon which was £1.90 (around $3) and it works fine...don't believe any of that BS that 'you get what you pay for'...
Thanks Bigmo!
Just to make sure...
Is this it?
http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-P570-006-mini-HDMI-Digital/dp/B000TT80DG/ref=pd_sim_e_3
OR this?
http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Speed-Mini-HDMI-Ethernet-Meters/dp/B003ES5ZR8/ref=pd_cp_e_1
Both of those will work, but I suggest ordering from Monoprice over Walmart or Amazon. Here is a list of cables that will work for the TF: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10242 (the last one here won't work unless your TV supports mini HDMI, and I doubt it does).
Ethernet is nice to have but is currently not supported by (m)any devices. It's only pennies or so on monoprice, so I always pick it up for when hdmi w/ ethernet devices start coming out.
thanks very much, I appreciate the help.

Which air mouse to buy... Geekbuying sucks!

I bought a Tronsmart TSM01 air mouse and, well, it is garbage. The range is about two meters, tops.
I bought it from Geekbuying and, well, they are criminals. They wanted me to pay to return this defective hardware -- It is provably defective because it won't work from across my living room, let alone the maximum 8 meter range. I disputed the transaction with paypal and got a refund. If Geekbuying keeps up as they have been they won't be able to accept paypal payments any more. I eagerly encourage anyone having a problem with them to open a dispute. The sooner these thieves go out of business, the better.
Now, back on topic... I want a small air mouse with a keyboard on the back and it has to actually work across my living room. Which one do I buy? My MK908 is just sitting around because I can't actually use it.
Never buying anything from Geekbuying or anything made by Tronsmart again
Also, there isn't a stick computer Q&A forum, is there? Because if you check the question box XDA complains at you. But this IS the Q&A forum for stick devices, right? That should be changed
Hi, I just bought http://www.minix.com.hk/Products/MINIX-NEO-A2.html for my MINIX NEO X5 mini, and I'm very satisfied with it.
I have a I8 Rii Mini Wireless Keyboard, the range is a bit rubbish, but 5m los its OK.
I want something better but I am not sure about an air mouse, I only have a 32in 720p TV and from experience using air mice is not very easy with such a small TV
I want something like what I have but with a larger / more responsive track pad. The trackpad on this thing is not great, I get misclicks while using the scroller so somthing 2x the size would be much better.
for 18usd the one I have is fine, but I want a little better than fine, so I am open to suggestions too

Exactly my experience with this remote. Just contacted them and will likely dispute when they tell me to ship it back at my expense.

What is the real maximum range on the minix a2?
Edit: bought one, will report back.
May also try hacking the tsm01 receiver. Wonder what freq. That determines antenna length

A Tronsmart TSM01 came with my Minix Neo X7. Initially the signal reception really sucked. I put the dongle on a USB extension cable to get it away from the X7 and now it's way better.

Well, I was using the dongle on the USB-OTG cable to get it away from the MK908, and that didn't work at all. But I got the Minix Neo A1 yesterday and hooked it up in my living room today and I can use it anywhere in the living room.
I decased the TSM01 dongle and opened the TSM01 and my initial observation is that it doesn't look like the transmit antenna is coupled to the TSM01 at all, like there's a cap missing or something.

The problem, I think, is with the wifi of the device antennae too close too the mini dongle of the remote. Both are (most probably) using 2.4GHz, and communication packets may disrupt each other. Using an extension USB cable fixed he proximity problem.
I have this remote and it works very good. I have a USB really close to the base of the antennae and others on the other side, and I tested it - no internet and bad remote reception using the one closer to the antennae, and non on the other side.
I have ordered Mele F10 Deluxe for my MK808B Plus, and I am still waiting for it. For now I am using my laptop mouse and Google TV remote.
It has a game more, Qwerty Keyboard, Air mouse and IR learning function.

Nexus Player on Sale @ Staples (Canada)

Nexus Player is going to be on sale at Staples from $109 to $69.99 tomorrow.
I've never had a Android box and thinking of using this as my starter box, using it for Live TV, Movies, Tv Shows, and thats about it right now. Is it worth rooting it? I've rooted many android phones, but not sure about benefits of the Box.
It wont do live tv unless you feed it from a source like HD Homerun or slingbox through the sling app. Keep in mind in order to do anything with it, you'll need a powered usb hub, adapters to fit the awkward micro-usb input and a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Hardware Question (Original SHIELD Tablet/K1 compatability)?

My daughter has an original SHIELD tablet. She somehow managed to take a chunk out of the micro USB charging port. In trying to fix that, I managed to mess up the board/tablet in other ways.
My question is: Can I buy a K1 with a cracked screen, and use its guts to repair my original SHIELD tablet?
Based on the screenshots I have seen, the motherboard "looks" to be the same on the 2 tablets, but I don't want to buy a tablet on Ebay, only to find out that my plan won't work.

It should but the board will be missing the sensor for the pen and unless you have the 16gb pyro you will be going to 16gb. The boards should be identical except for the pen sensor. And maybe the GPS chip

Looking for advice on a wirelsss charger/stand for the 11 Generation Fire HD 10 Plus...

...Anyone got experience with any equipment they would recommend?
Thanks
I bought the official Amazon one along with my Gen 11 Fire HD+ on Black Friday and it works perfectly. I would definitely recommend it. It charges from any position that you set the Tablet in, whether it's horizontal, vertical, camera up, camera down, and even charges with the offical Keyboard case I bought with it too. It was about $40 I think?
Really no reason to go with any other wireless stand to be honest.
I purchased the NANAMI Qi Certified Wireless Charging Stand for $15 on Amazon. This works GREAT with the Fire Tablet. I like that when I put it on the stand it looks just like an Echo Show. With that said, I'm guessing almost any wireless charger would work well.

I'm thinking of getting the nanami. It just looks small to support the fire 10 tablet. Is it hard to line up to charge? I looked on the site on amazon and out of the three answers 2 said no. Can you, please, post the link to the one you're recommending?
And, thank you.
