Why are you doing this?
You have an unlocked bootloader (You claim to have been running Cm12 in another thread)
Just flash the latest firmware and the advanced stock kernel from the development section.
In fact you should send @zxz0O0 a PM and see how you can help the locked bootloader bugs be worked out for the Z3

[Q] Xperia L - help in flashing/updating

Hi I would like to ask for your help on working with my Xperial L. It is free phone from my network plan so when I checked the unlock bootloader is set to NO. that is my problem at the moment. Is it still possible to root, and port a kernel/custom rom even if the bootloader cannot be unlocked? I hope you could give me the proper steps so I can arrive at the same set up as yours.
Here are the details of my unit at the moment:
Model - Xperial L C2105
Android version - 4.1.2
Build number - 15.0.A.2.17
Bootloader unlock: not allowed
I haven't started anything yet as I'm unsure which to steps to follow, hope if there's someone who had the same details can help me to root and port a kernel/rom.
Many Thanks in Advance!

@rayleigh2010
Yes you can root & also install ROM too without unlocking (Which is risky). Kernel needs UBL so you can never have kernel for your device(AFAIK). Try to get it unlocked from your vendor or ask him for a replacement for your phone and get a Unlock able phone.

what are my options then and what are the risks if I don't unlock my bootloader? I don't think my vendor would change it so I'll just have to live with it.. can you provide me a tutorial please with these limitations..I would be very grateful if you could help me. thanks again.. :good:

How did you root? Which method? You know things are different with Lollipop?
Go to "sticky roll-up" thread in general then read my overview of root options thread. Then you'll know.

I have searched and I cannot find a root method for the Sony Xperia Z3 (D6653) I have which is running Android OS 4.4.4 and the firmware version is 23.0.1.A.1.49 - can this specific Z3 be rooted? If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
Many thanks.

I have already unlocked the bootloader using Sony's website. What are my rooting options for this device with an unlocked bootloader?
Many thanks.

Flash an insecure kernel from the development section
look for advanced stock kernel....
If you have unlocked then it is SOOOOOOo easy to root....
EDIT
Say goodbye to your DRM keys though, if you unlock before rooting you will never see them again. You may want to look in the cross device development section to see the thread about restoring DRM functionality.

Should be, they're are others in the development section as well
Just make sure you read the requirements to make sure your phone and firmware are supported

All my old devices, I burner only root without changing versions or boot device ..
Well, when you downgrade just exclude data, you will get FC's but that just whilst you are on the lower firmware, once you root, install recovery and flash a pre-rooted zip (Again, exclude data) you will be fine.
Or (For the third time) look in the general section to see how to root lollipop

unlock your bootloader,
update to n,
install kernel with drm fix,
install twrp,
flash supersu.zip &
done

Unfortunately, it does not work because Sony has prevent users from downgrading to mm via 7.1.1
sony prevented that since when?

I cant seem to downgrade from 7.1.1 to Marshmallow
You gotta help me
I spent 2 days fixing this
Flashtool worked for me with the "journalist" rom to downgrade to MM F8331. I followed guide, backed up TA first, used adb/fastboot to flash Androplus v4 kernel and recovery. Androplus kernel (v4) worked for MM, then used v26 for 7.1.1 stock rom (Ger cust). Have TA_poc modified kernel now.
