Unfortunately, it does not work because Sony has prevent users from downgrading to mm via 7.1.1

sony prevented that since when?

you've tried it with the tool from here:

I cant seem to downgrade from 7.1.1 to Marshmallow
You gotta help me
I spent 2 days fixing this

Flashtool worked for me with the "journalist" rom to downgrade to MM F8331. I followed guide, backed up TA first, used adb/fastboot to flash Androplus v4 kernel and recovery. Androplus kernel (v4) worked for MM, then used v26 for 7.1.1 stock rom (Ger cust). Have TA_poc modified kernel now.

i've single sim version with (unlock allowed BL : NO)
is there a way to root yet ?
or all hope is gone ?

Sorry for thread stealing say you already had TA backed up, could i root without losing everything, especially the contents in /data/data while being on 7.1.1 with a locked bootloader that does allow unlocking. Please help - locked myself out of a bitcoin wallet :crying:

It's really good news mate. I entered my email and IMEI, got unlock code.
I think our device will be able to unlock on next update. Because it says 'Rooting status:No' on this version.

After unlocking our bootloader, can we install a fully working kit kat rom?...if they exist
---------- Post added at 11:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:04 AM ----------
I also came across a file called projectconfig.mk in /system/data/misc and saw the line "MTK_FORCE_89T_CPU" and other values with NFC...once developers start with custom kernels after unlocking the bootloader, does this mean we can overclock our XC to 1.7ghz and somehow add nfc support (sorry for my noobiness,I'm a noob...noobing around!)

no you cant install nfc support couse is a hardware and not software problem. overclock will be possible untill we install a modded worked kernel

1. Unlocking the boot loader will wipe everything...yes... You need to take backup of everything before unlocking..
2. You need to flash custom recovery to root your phone... My sugesstion is don't flash anything as of now or root.
If you root your phone, you will get ota,but you can't install it... So once you installed lollipop, you root it..
3. Lollipop will support multirom..wait for some dev to develop it..
4. Rooting is easy.. There are plenty of guides there for rooting.. Wait for few days to get lollipop and root it..
---------- Post added at 07:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:22 AM ----------
5... You can't install any official update if you root it.. But you can flash the update if any one created a flashable zip

Why are you doing this?
You have an unlocked bootloader (You claim to have been running Cm12 in another thread)
Just flash the latest firmware and the advanced stock kernel from the development section.
In fact you should send @zxz0O0 a PM and see how you can help the locked bootloader bugs be worked out for the Z3

You need to unlock the bootloader to root your phone. But there's no way to get the code. Older devices can be unlocked with DC-Unlocker but the P20 isn't supported yet. Only people who received the bootloader unlock code last year can root at the moment.
