Make your Galaxy Note 3 look like a Nexus running 5.0 without a custom ROM (ROOT) - Galaxy Note 3 General

Guide to make your SM-N900 running 4.4.2 look like a Nexus with Lollipop
So I started this blog explaining how I did that, many thanks to the threads available on this forum. I was getting really tired of TouchWiz, and using a different launcher still didn't seem to solve the problem of all that bloatware running in the background. Plus, I am really obsessed with Material Design and Lollipop.
I was determined to not get a custom ROM and flash a new recovery, so instead I ended up doing this. Check it out and let me know what you think and help refine this approach by contributing on this thread.
Here's the link : www[DOT]wtfpotato.org/2015/01/how-to-make-your-galaxy-note-3-look.html (The forum isn't allowing me to post links yet but I assure you, it isn't spam)
PS: I know that's a random URL name, but it was cheap and funny

S4 (4.2.2) is it leaked to S3 ??

Hi All:
This is my first time here, I've been looking for a Rom for my S3 which can make it more similar to S4 with all its featuers.
I flashed many Rom and most of them has the 4.2.2 update but it has the nexus touch which I didnt like on my S3.
Any recommendations for a good Rom which is stable and have no issues..
Thanks in advance

The only answer I can give you is: Take a look in the developers forum. If you see something you like, try it. Maybe go for a rom with a stock (Samsung/TouchWiz) look, since that's what you're used to from the stock ROM. Actually, I'd start off by rooting your phone(you've already done that, since you've flashed a lot of ROMs), and remove all the bloatware you never use from stock ROM. Maybe replace a few of the stock apps with better alternatives. This makes the phone faster, and frees up memory.
You can also freeze apps, if you're not comfortable with removing them from the stock ROM. This thread discusses which apps are safe to freeze/remove. The OP links to this document showing a spreadsheet of apps that are safe/not safe to freeze/remove.
If you're not familiar with the term "freezing apps", you should do a forum search(or just Google) Titanium Backup. It's a feature LOADED (you guessed it...) backup-app, which allows you to freeze apps if you don't want to uninstall them completely. In short, it "disables" the app, removing it from the drawer, but keeping it installed. You can easily unfreeze the apps if you need them to work for you again.
Hope this helped you on you way. The world of custom ROMs is huge, so you're guaranteed to find somehing you like.

Thanks a lot for all the information that you've shared with me, I am still not familiar with many things in rooting which I might need your help with that.
The first thing, what you guys mean by Stock Rom? does it mean the original android framework that was not modified yet?
2nd: how to remove all the bloatware? and what do you mean by bloatware?
3rd: is it bad for the handset to be flashed again and again with many different ROMs? I always follow the steps which the developers mention in flashing any new ROM, so is there any right ways to do that without damaging my phone?
for now these are all the doubts that I have about rooting, but I might come up with many points in the future,
I hope you guys can help me in getting more knowledge about it, and thanks a lot for your precious time that you are giving me
Thanks again

[Q] Best Close to Stock KitKat ROM for Tab2

Hey Guys,
I'm quite a Noobie when it comes to ROMS and I haven't ventured into Custom ROMS in any way before. But, because in the infinite wisdom of Samsung (my one B!TCH) is they don't maintain support for older devices like Apple do, I need to consider updating my Tab 2 to get some decent performance.
There appears to be about 4 - 5 ROMS that are being regularly maintained and I'd like to know which one is as close to stock Samsung ROM and easy to install with no requirement to Root the device. I have installed ROMS via Odin quite a few times, so I am confident in that area.
Ones I know about:
SlimKat
CyanogenMod 11
Mokee
SOKP
Cheers and thanks
Willo
Please some help!
People aren't answering because what you're asking for isn't possible. None of them are like the Samsung ROM and they ALL require a custom recovery and root. You can't install them over Odin. If you do root then try them yourself and see which one works best for you. That's part of the fun of Android!
Not to mention you posted a question in the General forum not the Q&A forum...

[HELP] Guide for porting Lollipop ROMs to OnePlus One?

OnePlus One is a great phone with amazing specs. I want to port a touchwiz ROM (based on the latest S6 Touchwiz 5.1.1) but I am unable to do so. Can someone suggest a guide for porting Lollipop ROMs? I tried googling but found no guides about lollipop (there were many guides mentioning kitkat but not lollipop) so I decided to ask the xda-community.
This isn't the right place to ask this question mate.. And most important.. With all due respect to you why would you want to use something as freaky as touchwiz on a epic device like one..??
Next it's practically impossible to run touchwiz on our device.. There are no sources with respect to Samsung touchwiz etc.. M saying this with my limited knowledge as a Samsung user for 5 odd years and a developer of sorts for s3 and note 2... still good luck..
what kind of a person would make our bacon run touchwiz????
If you were porting full aosp then yeah but touchwiz really?

The op.. Thread reported anyways..

Samsung Note 2, I want it secured, lightweight, and fast.

Hey Ya'll
Happy New Year.
I have new old phone Samsung Note 2.
I'm going to be using this phone but have concerns about security and speed .
I also want to root my phone so I can remove the bloatware and, possibly, get my processor clocked a bit faster (activating the reduntant cores to would be great).
This is what I've learned from searching here:
1) KIngRoot || Root King - oneclick apps from the play store
2) custom rom - like cynagenmod.
- i'll be able to use FireFox the way I do on my Linux machine, but other than that I'm just a run of the mill iPhone user.
What kind of advice do you guys have for me? I look forward to learning tx:fingers-crossed:
For the people viewing but not posting.
Here's something I found using a DuckDuckGo (XDA search just came up with ads) from the XDA forums.
Galaxy Note 2 Rooting.
Flashing Custom Roms.
After days of trying to figure this out I'm just more confused.
Everytime I use the XDA search bar I get ADS. Thanks XDA.
The two links I posted to help here have good descriptions but the links end up going nowhere eventually.
From what I've gathered (on my own) I need to:
1) Root using Odin (found it somewhere else)
2 ) Download a "Custom Recovery" CWM/TWRP (can't find a good download for the dam thing)
3) Download Gapps (again, can't find a good Download for the dam thing)
4) Download a Custom ROM for my phone (and again, can't find a download)
I don't understand. Everyone Raves about XDA but theres only text instructions. Everyone says how there are great developers here and how this is a gret forum but I've yet to find anything here and none of the people who viewed this post even replied....
If your reading this and are trying to Root your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I suggest you look somewhere else.
I don't think XDA is worth any of the hype people give it and we're just wasting our time here.
Hey, there.
First of all, you are new here and don't know how the XDA forums work, so be patient and don't jump to conclusions. Once you understand the forum's layout, you will see why everyone raves about XDA.
You first need to find your phone's subforum using search, and look there. It will have everything from general questions, rooting guides, to custom kernels, custom Roms, etc.
For your case, it's here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2
Easiest way to root your phone is using Kingroot.
Download apk here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=22115
The custom ROM flashing guide you linked is general guide to flash any ROM and hence doesn't provide links. You need to find Rom you would like to flash(install) in the sub-forum and flash using that method.
Hit thanks if it helped. PM (private message) me if you need help.

[Q/A] Anyone Know of Any Up-To-Date Roms?

(Ok.. For some reason the thread got moved and the redirect page got closed, sorry about that! XDA mod, don't close this one please!)
Hey guys, I've been searching for ROMS that are for the SM-G925P (I have found some but they're not being maintained anymore). There is a specific one I'm looking for, which goes by the following guidelines:
Deodexed for Xposed (Systemless)
Debloated
Multi-User Support
Using Android 6.0.1
Works with a SM-G925P
That's pretty much what I'm looking for in a ROM.. the only one that's pretty close is Renegade HD, but like I said, its not being maintained anymore
Or if anyone has a copy of any of the 6.0.1 roms, all the links are dead, it would be much appreciated
