I got the phone and everything worked with CyanogenMod. Then I saw the post about Android Stock on OnePlus One forum, I tried to install that. After this I have had many issues. Tried to install several recovery.img etc, and now I am stuck with an error message when trying to install ANYTHING. Every ROM I now try to sideload with ADB I get this error:

Now sending the package you want to apply
to the device with "adb sideload <filename>"..

You're not really providing enough specific information. And it seems like you haven't done your research in regards to modifying your phone. It's imperative that you do your research and get a firm grasp on everything before you start messing with your phone, otherwise you end up in a situation like this, asking for help in a very basic situation.
Whatever you're trying to install through the stock recovery isn't going to work because you can't flash custom ROMs with stock recovery. The stock recovery can only install signed zips from CM. You need an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery to install a custom ROM. Exactly which recovery images have you tried to install? Exactly what happens when you attempt to install them?

Do you think its wise for him to flash a custom rom if he cant figure out why hes getting the signature failure?
Not trying to be a **** here.. but you should really read through the forums and then read them again before you start flashing custom roms.. Just saying.

You have to re-install packages twice before cwm takes. And the update.zip on the root of the SD
If then it doesn't take, delete the update.zip. then flashclockwork again via RM and make sure the update.zip is again on the internal SD. then try reinstall packages twice. again. Worked everytime for me. Should be same for you

Not with a failed signature verification. That means he's on 3e recovery and needs to flash a different kernel in order to get CWM recovery. I agree that if you don't read the forums and know this flashing will lead to trouble.

I was using a new computer and i had downloaded the drivers but i hadnt installed them. And i needed that to use the modded version of the loader to avoid the sig checks. alright... i was recently soft-bricked, then got everything fixed, up and running, spent a day on stock making sure everything would work correctly... it did.

Working with the stock blue 3e-recovery.
Looks like you need to re install modded 3e recovery. The Super Thread in the Dev section has links to the download for it. That or you can use SGS kernel flasher to flash the Froyo CWM kernel (assuming your on Froyo/stock). Also found in the Super Thread. Good Luck!

I've never flashed MIUI from green CWM before, only red. Maybe try a diff download link or Galnet? Are you wiping data, dalvik, and cache before flash? Also, is the zip on your internal SD card? Sorry for the 20 questions lol

I don't want to flash galnet... Thats what caused me to brick in the first place... Well... Trying to flash out from there. Everyone said flash miui 11.25 right over the latest galnet and they had no issues, I bricked. So I'm trying to assess what went wrong, and get it installed.
Feeling dumb, but I have successfully rooted and loaded (multiple times) ROMS on my Droid Incredible. Though I can't seem to get ROM manager to load a downloaded (CM7) rom onto my captivate - YES the phone is rooted .
I think i'm missing the bootloader, but i'm unsure. All the phone does is go to "Samsung Recovery Utils" and offers the following options only
*reboot system now
*reinstall packages
*delete all user data
*delete cache data
*format internal sd-card
Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong or point me to a thread that doesn't just say "download rom, install from SD card and done"?
let me give you a hint. there is a sticky section.....read

Going from Stock Froyo 2.2 to CM7. but when i go into the boot screen it's blue and gives me the options above. Then when I press the "reinstall updates" I get a
E:failed to verify whole-file signature

I must be doing something just simple and stupid, but thought i'd ask anyways. I'll try to find the sticky and see if it tells me something i haven't tried. Thanks!

@TRusselo: I've tried your guide step by step and I still end up at the Android system recovery and not CWM. Is there a step I might be missing? I downloaded the links you gave, followed all instructions and still same problem.
Thanks alot for the guide, if it worked i'd be even happier about it.

I tried that multiple times.
my understanding is the text at that point should be green, but it's still blue and gives the same exact error. "E:failed to verify whole-file signature E:signature verification failed"
Alright, I tried the Heimdall version which shows more promise, i'm just now unable to boot into any recovery. I hold the volume buttons and power for the 3-5 seconds and it boots to a boot screen with "TALON" on it. but nothing else from there.
Am I missing something else?
to first issue.... you followed the wrong link in my signature....
" 3e recovery fix " is what you were looking for.... since you were having truoble with 3e recovery.... thought that would be self explanatory.....
make sure usb debugging is ONturn OFF anti-virus for 5 minutes or until reboot
plug in phone.
click the bat file in this file.
you will have THE SAME RECOVERY with NO error
signature verification pass...
flash any update.zip package
but since you have a custom kernel with cwm now.....
What heimdall method are you talking about? for recovery? for flashing roms? what are you talking about. heimdall can do alot of stuff. did you upgrade bootloaders? or??
keep trying the button combo.. if it turns on, it will go into recovery.
Please search before posting, on that note thread closed.
I rooted my captivate 2.2 with superoneclick, its running the stock 2.2 I haven't flashed anything custom. I downloaded ROM manager, clicked flash clockwork mod recovery for my device, clicked reboot into recovery. From there I hit reinstall packages, which is what one of the stickies told me to do. It gives me error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I really need cwm to get a Android backup so I can start flashing roms, somebody help a brotha out!!

You can't flash recovery that way for anything since 2.1. You'll need to flash a custom kernel that already has recovery baked in with Odin.
What ROM are you trying to go to?
rom manager isnt for captivate since 2.1..
