I've recently got a new 3G iphone. It came with a new SIM card that is suppose to be optimized for iphone. When I put this sim card into my Touch Cruise, I am unable to get 3G. There is signal bars but I cannot make or receive phone calls. The only way to make or receive phone calls is by disabling the 3G. The same applies for Data. I thought maybe the radio ROM was not working so I changed it to the Murata ROM but I am still having problems. I am on the Rogers network in Canada. Has anybody else having similar problems? Any help would be appreciated as I still find my Touch Cruise more useful than the 3G iphone.
Most probably is ur phone broken. U will have to send it to the service. Maaaaany users had/have/will have problems with calls, connections, signal strenght,bluetooth, camera, broken wheel etc. I had... Touch cruise is crapy.
If you know someone with a non-iPhone 3G sim, try theirs in your Cruise and see what happens

Actually, I did this today. Same thing happen. I would get a 3G signal but when I tried to make a call, I get no signal. But when I disable the 3G, edge works fine with voice and data.
Hi, I sufered the same problem until yesterday. I had the same problems. Yesterday I switched off the HSDPA switch in the software, after a soft reset the TC came back online. Probably worth trying?

I've tried both Murata radio roms. Both gives very good 3G signal but when I try to make a call or use data, I get no connection. I've tried the original radio ROM and some of the Kaiser ported radio Roms. They all give me no connection with 3G. In every case, when I disable the 3G, I can make calls and get data although it is only through edge and GPRS. I looked at my box for the TC and it is revision A. Do I need to send my TC for repair? I even went as far as calling my cell phone provider(Rogers) and they couldn't help me. The phone is functional but without 3G I am not getting very fast data speeds.
The problem started with my TC started after upgrading to Udk R6 and R7, after upgrading to R8 and a new radio version

just a question, I'm on ATT, and the sim card I use on my polaris came off the iPhone3G, and I get the H (the high speed thing) sign on the phone during data sessions. on some areas I'm only able to get E and sometimes even the G sign came on and off. so I guess, maybe wherever you are, the 3G signal isn't strong enough, so you can only get edge.
and as of the other person noted, polaris is kind of at the edge of getting broken, fast. I only uses mine exclusively for web browsing for a week when the phone goes crazy. sent it to repair and everything seems to be in "sane" mode now let's hope that my phone didn't try to go insane again

I am having the same problem, 2 weks ago I traveled to other country without 3g network (only edge) and i had used a diferents simcards. When I come back to my country, I lost the 3g only works in GSM , I try another sims card and same problem and the orignal simcard in differnts mobiles 3gs worsk fine. Do you find any solutions? You are the only person who i find with the same problem.

Guys, maybe a silly comment but did you check the following settings : phone/menu/options/band and check select network type to auto?
I have had problems before with 3G & HSDPA. Somtimes when your registered on HSDPA and you travell away from that mast/area into an area that only has 3G or even only Edge, then device does not re-register onto the other band and you will not be bale to make calls and will miss calls. This happened for days one time and i very nearly hard reset my device in frustration, i eventually found out it was a network problem.
Another work around is going to phone/menu/networks and manually select networks and hopefully it should bring up your 3G network.
Phone operators do not like telling you that their 3G or HSPDA networks do not have good coverage or intermittent quality of signal. My 3G network only has 70% coverage & 30 % of that is HSDPA, so i sometimes end up on EDGE and hence miss calls.
Try playing around with the setting above one at a time. When im stuck i manually set band to GSM (edge), then when travelling away reset back to auto. Most of the time however it is fine.
Hi, I'm from Argentina. I had the same problem with 3G after a trip to other country. Now my TC only works well in GSM Band. Unfortunatelly we don't have service support here so if anyone knows how to fix this will be highly appreciated.
I have the same problem in my Polaris. I tried almost every radio i could find, i tried with different sim cards, i tried with official wm6 and wm6.1 roms with no result. When 3G is enabled i can not make or receive calls. I think that the problem started when i first upgraded from WM6 to WM6.1. Now i keep band selection to GSM so at least i can use my polaris as a phone. There must be something that prevents gsm connection when 3G is active. I hope a registry tweak could be found for this. I' m just one step from sending my device to be serviced.
I have the same trouble with my virgin uk sim card and t-mobile which share the same network(need to turn off 3g),but no trouble with my asda sim which uses the vodaphone network.So if you try different sim cards make sure they dont share networks.Another thing i've noticed with my virgin sim is all my preferred networks are unchecked but my phone will still connect if my 3g is turned off?

I have a Sprint TP2, which i have done the following in order:
1. Flash Hard SPL
2. Sim Unlock - (found out this actually wasn't necessary, but made donation anyway)
3. Flash Radio (2.05.00.WU)
The above all done according to instructions from this forum.
4. Plugged in a T-Mobile sim card, switched to GSM only Manual, found the network, made a call. Worked fine.
5. Flashed new Rom (EnergyROM_21864_RHOD500_09.Nov.2009_StandardM2.5)
Started using it on Sprint, everything was fine. Switched over the T-Mobile, seemed ok at first... but now problems begin:
a. Tried connecting 3G and get online via T-Mobile, seemed to work for a minute.
b. Tried using GPRS (2G, turned off 3G), seemed to work intermittently.
c. Noticed couldn't stay on T-Mobile's network, even though when signal was good.
d. I thought the data connection was causing the problem, but turning off all data connections didn't help. Gets connected, then soon gets dropped. Still couldn't stay on T-Mobile.
This same T-Mobile card works perfectly with the original T-Mobile TP2, and works find on another LG phone. So it's not the card or account issue. I don't know what could've caused this, is it the new Radio? or is it the Rom?
Can anyone give suggestions on how to cure this? Thanks!

I too am having the same exact issue. Has anyone got the SPRINT: HTC Touch Pro 2 working on T-Mobile? I Have Both, The one for T-Mobile and Sprint.... I Just Like Sprint Phone a lot better.
i have the same issue. even when i go into the gsm/umts services and change the band to 1900/850.
i also seem to have an issue where it shows i am connected to the network and i can make calls and send text but can not receive them unless i manually reconnect to the network or do a soft reset.
i'm also looking for a fix for this exact problem
Similar problem with Sprint phone on AT&T network
I have a Sprint touch pro 2 unlocked, using on AT&T network. Thought it was working good, but now I see it keeps dropping me, asking me again if I want to connect to the network. I can toggle the Flight mode on/off, and it'll reconnect.
Anyone know a solution to this problem?

This is the first time ever I am trying an android phone out coming from an iPhone 4.
So basically I got my nexus s yesterday it said it was on vodafone but I understand the nexus s is fully unlocked. Anyway yesterday I put in my o2 sim and it worked out the box making calls etc. I rooted it and everything was fine. This morning I used the gps for a trip to work it worked perfectly. I could connect to the 3G network etc.
When I came home in the evening I tried to make a call and it said emergency calls only but it doesn't let me make any calls! I have hard reset it. Tried different roms. Erased cache etc etc. Still nothing. I called o2 support and they said from their end my sim is fine and no problem with it there is no lock etc.
If I go into the diagnostic tool thing *#*#4636#*#* it says the following
Signal strength -107 dbm 7asu
Gsm service: emergency calls only
Gsm disconnects: state:dcinactivestate disconnected with last try at 12:59am fail because no error
I have no clue what's wrong please help!

this is how this thread ended? did anyone even find a fix i have this same problem its driving me crazy. I can only find rogers network also btw which i am not on.

Some one please solve this damn issue......it is more spread in India.......tried all baseband updates but still......driving me crazy

I was so much annoyed with this so called network drop issue 'emergency calls only' which is appearing on my moblie every now and then and while on important calls..suddenly cutdown due to network loss.
im not a techy geek to go into kernels and rewrite some of the scripts ..etc..
so i may sound silly..but pls try it out..its working for me for last 2 days without drop..may be bcoz of wat i did or may be simply dont knw still testing..so i thought to share this across and see wat others experience..
the actual thing wat i did find is that there is some .005 mm gap over the sim in sim slot so i felt it may be a cause of some not contact of sim with the slot..in some micro levels..
so i introduced a paper above the sim while inserting sim in slot then it becom tight enough to stay its in contact all times..
its simple.. but u people hv to say weather its bcoz of this it works ..

Baseband version - I9023XXKI1
Kernel version - 3.0.8-ga178ab4
Build number - soju-userdebug 4.0.3 IML69C 235871 test-keys
When I use any SIM here (Airtel/Vodafone), it is getting into Emergency mode. But strangely the GPRS service works. I am able to browse, stream, email etc. I dont understand how GPRS services are working when GSM isnt?
I am unable to use my new phone! Can anyone please shed some light here...
My nexus does this also, I've only found trying different radios to help but not eliminate the problem. Also when searching for networks, manually selecting your carrier instead of having it on automatic also helped.
I had this problem the other day. I was on emergency calls only, and AT&T said it was due to an antenna outage. Then I told them my wifes phone was working.. ended up at AT&T store, no luck, etc, etc.. To put an abbreviated story of my night of pain.
I tried a ton of different radios, all would not connect to 3g or make phone calls. Until I installed UCKF1 (New Version) from the [RADIO/GUIDE/TWEAK]Radio JK1,JK8,KB1,KB2,KB3,KD1,KF1 & UCKD1,KE1,KF1 with HSPDA Tweak thread. I don't know what that radio file did, but it fixed it. And after that when I flashed other radios which were previously not working, they were working again.
I'm not sure what happened, but while this was going on radios I had used before like KB3 didn't work. Once I had UCKF1 (New Version) installed, I was then able to successfully go to any radio I tried.

Exactly same thing happeining with me, Emergency calls showing, no network but GPRS Edge is working perfectly. I have mistaknly upgraded my rom through custom method, after that I am having this issue. Any fix so far? I think its confirmed issue of radio baseband

Well around 3 months before I rooted my HTC explorer and flashed SHTD ROM.
Now to the problem:-
I flashed this rom and everything was working perfectly fine till one night, suddenly my 3G stopped working. I checked online for all the solutions and tried using my sim on some other phone and still 3G was not working. I tried erasing everything and reflashed the same rom. So I finally got the reason that it was a problem with my SIM and 3G was not working. So now I go to bangalore and change my SIM from tata DOCOMO and then 3G works jus fine. Today I'm back to pune and again I am facing the same problem and my 3G is not working again. I tried dialing *#*#4636#*#* and tried changing the network type to WCDMA only, and still my 3G is not working. It was just yesterday that my 3G was working perfectly fine in bangalore and today I'm in pune and its not working here. I tried calling the DoCoMo people and they say there is no problem with the 3G network there. So I am still wondering what the problem is. My 2G is working perfectly fine but there is some problem with the 3G thingy. Can anyone help me with this?

buddy problem is not with your Rom problem is with 3g signal... try calling customer care executive and ensure if 3g is working in your locality...

Hey, thanks for replying. Well I did contact the customer service for the same issue before I wrote it down here and it seems like the 3G here is working absolutely fine. Now I really dont know what the problem is. Is it something with rooting? I have a friend of mine who is working with android app development company for years and I asked him about this problem, he said 2G and 3G both share the same hardware so it cannot be a problem with the hardware. Now I am clueless so as what to do if it aint a hardware problem, if it aint a ROM problem, and it aint a network problem, then why isnt it working here where as it was working yesterday in a different city?

buddy I think you should check 3g signal of Docomo in other devices...

Hi All,
I am using the Avengers Edition, India Version, with Vodafone in Bangalore, India.
The phone was holding good 4g signal.
I am not sure, but after the latest update to 5.1.8, the vodafone sim, in slot 1, seems to lose signal for few hours. it comes back on a restart or recycling airplane mode.
Also, the phone on fresh restart or switch back/forth between airplane mode, holds good 4g signal but falls back to 3g (H/H+) after about 10 minutes.
On reboot and recycle of airplane mode, at times 4g comes back but again falls back to H/H+.
All the while, slot 2 has a Jio sim which has good 4g signal and never loses signa.
Is anyone else experiencing such kind of issue.
I am not sure if it is the phone or it could be vodafone as well.
I am going to run few tests swapping the sims between the slots 1 and 2 and also try using the vodafone sim on another 4g phone and report back.
In the meanwhile, if anyone is encountering such issues on this phone, it would be great if you could reply on this thread.

Since you are also facing, it could be a software issue as it has happened after 5.1.8 only.
Hopefully a bug that will be fixed in future then.

Well I just put Vodafone back to 2g only and it seems to be working fine
And my guess is it has something to do with the merger of idea and Vodafone in India . They seem to be fixing it up .
I really hope they fix it ASAP!! ( not OnePlus I'm talking about Vodafone fixing it )
I'm unable to get Volte services on Vodafone 4g, while it is working fine for jio and Airtel. Despite of having Volte services it still switches to 3g... And I have the normal version of the phone.
