[Q] Go Clever Tab R75 Factory Restore - Android General

Hi All,
This may not be the correct section for this topic so feel free to move if there is somewhere more appropiate.
I have a GoClever Tab R75, when setting it up i created a new Gmail account and what i considered a secure obsecure password with no recovery options (I know it was stupid).
The device has fully powered down after several weeks and of course i cannot rember the password, I tried the passwords i used on previous devices because they are all simular but tweeked to keep each one fresh. Now there has been too many attempts. Is there a way to do a factory restore, bearing in mind that there is no vilume buttons and the reset button is only a power reset button. I did try flashing the firmware to see if it may lead to a way to access the boot menu to do this but it didn't help and obviously the firmware flash dosn't interfeer with the data partition so the lock is still in place.
I don't know if it will work but i am looking for a micro usb keyboard with a volume button so i can try but don't expect it to work,
Any comments or tips would be appreciated,
Alan

[Q] [A701] unrecoverable bootloader error (0X19000008)

I installed a update.zip(Acer_AV043_A701_0.006.00_WW_GEN1.zip).
then,My A701 restarted, but it's stuck at the ACER logo.
I hook up this device to the PC ,but not go to fastboot mode , "MTB drivers" is no found.
I pressed the "volume up"- and the "power"-button at the same time, released the power-button when the screen turns on and switched the lock switch on and off and on and off: top left corner of the screen says "Erasing Userdata... Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x19000008).
Who can help me? thks.

Unfortunately, as the 701 is new, there are not a lot of options at this time.
You can try downloading a full stock rom, renaming it to "update.zip", copy it to SD card, and boot your tab holding Vol + and PWR.
See it it installs the rom. You may have to try a couple. Hopefully 1 will work.
I am going to assume the update really wasn't meant for your version (WW_COM_GEN1 build) ?
Other than that, we do not have a service rom (EUU) available for the 701.
The only other option would be Acer Repair.

thank a lot.
Hi Fishwood,
To get into a workable bootloader mode, try this:
Power button and volume DOWN at the same time, while flicking rotation lock on and off
When the tablet vibrates, let go of the power button, but KEEP pressing volume down and KEEP flicking rotation lock
The tablet should get to the bootloader.
Earlier I managed to put my tablet into an unusable state, but this method got me to the bootloader and I was able to continue working.
I'll tell you what I did, but I do not recommend this particular course of action - there is a chance you will completely ruin your tablet. Moscow Desire has warned in no uncertain terms to stay away from Clockwork Mod Recovery and I trust his judgement. I chose to go against his advice to do the following, but I was fully aware that I was running the risk of bricking my tablet.
I checked that the tablet was rooted
I installed CWM 6.0.1.1
I wiped the cache, wiped the user data (factory reset) and wiped the Dalvik
I then installed a stock ROM from the SD card
I then carried on messing around in the way I have been for a few days now.
If you are interested in doing this, I can provide the links for the various posts that I got my information/downloads from.
Seriously though, you do this at your own risk. If you're not sure about what you're doing, or you're not prepared to accept that you might brick your tablet, it's better to follow an alternative course of action.

Boot into recovery by holding power + volume down until boots into bootloader menu and select the factory reset using volume buttons. Unless you are rooted with twrp recovery becareful not to format if you have that.
Im stock - not rooted. When i boot into recovery there is no way to select the last option which is wipe. Ive tried using volume up and volume down and also touching the screen but none work...
Ok, i managed to select wipe data, and then it asked me to confirm my choice by pressing volume up, but then rebooted and all of my data is still there!?

It it go through the process of factory reset, after selecting wipe data it should then go into recovery where you'd see the android and the blue bar at bottom moving. If it forgone that and just rebooted not sure why it should wipe all data at which you set everything back up. Last thing which not sure if this would work in your case is the reset button under the volume buttons. Should be small hole just stick something in there and reset it. Don't think the password would keep it from wiping data in recovery that's what most people do when they for get it, although that usually for the screen lock but either one wouldn't think it mattered.
If i were you, i would unlock and flash custom recovery (TWRP) and then use that to do a factory wipe, can even wipe your internal SD card as well.
Then when you go to sell it, use "Unlocked" as a positive thing since so many people are bricking their tablets trying to unlock and flash custom recovery you can upsell it saying all the hard work is done just dont screw up during the process xD
Problem with that is, Im using a mac and only done stuff like that on my PC. Im out of the country for another year with no access to a PC...
Can anyone sugest any way I can get around this problem with forgetting the parental pin?
How can i use a mac to instal a custom recovery and then wipe?
Would the reset button wipe the tablet, i cant seem to find the button...

[Q] Disable/Restrict Android Recovery

Hello All and Thank you for viewing this Thread,
I work for a Company that configures devices for certain Companies/Clients,
One of our clients is looking to Lock down their Android Device (Probably a Samsung Galaxy Note 8) so that the users can not access certain features at all (This will be done through an MDM and a Custom Launcher). They are worried about the security on the device, they cannot let the users get access to anything but what they give permissions too. One of the major problems with this is the fact that if you boot into Stock Android Recovery you gain access to the Factory Data Rest, which then Completely reopens the Tablet to be used however the user would like.
To the main Questions,
1. Is there a way to Disable/Limit/Remove the Stock Android Recovery Feature so you can not wipe the device by booting into recovery mode?
2. Would this require Root Access (Since Root Access opens up the device even more, we are trying to stay away from this)?
3. I heard there was a Custom Recovery that allows you to set a Password to gain access to the Recovery Options. Is there a way to install a Custom Recovery then re-lock down the device so it is no longer Rooted or other potential security risks?
I think that is all that I can think of at the current moment, if you have any ideas on how to possibly accomplish this please share them.
The client also has custom cases to prevent access to certain parts of the device. Due to the Case and the custom launcher, my only Idea would be to possibly restrict the hardware buttons (Such as the Volume Rocker) to disable access to recovery mode, then have the Custom Launcher/Custom App to give access to the Volume controls via Software.
Thank you for any answers/insights you can provide, and thank you for taking the time to read this thread. Also if you need any information from me please don't hesitate to ask.

I also for a company and we are looking for a similar solution because the users found out what Volume UP + Power Button + Home button really do when pressed together.
I am aware that the user can simply reflash another recovery rom and be able to root the device and do all of that stuff, but it would at least be another step to the less experienced users.
Also I tried to find an recovery rom that would require a password to access the boot menu, but it seems not to exist,
So, is there way to disable the recovery mode or an restricted recovery rom that does not allow the user to factory reset or root or mess up with the device just by pressing those keys?
would really be a good idea

That would be a very good thing for popular custom recoveries like Clockwork Mod and TWRP (Team Win).
simply remove the recovery part
No one has an answer and its 2023?
I have a rooted Pixel 7 Pro and want to disable or lock android stock recovery to prevent theives from wiping my phone and allowing tracking if ever i lose it.
Is there ANY way to disable the power button and volume combo to force power down/recovery?
Or even lock the button combonation?

Venstar2050 boot issue

I got a Venstar2050 off of ebay (Chinese made tablet) I had it a couple of days, and it was sluggish. So I preformed a factory reset on it, I did it through the android OS, within the system settings. It worked, booted fine, until a reset. I now get a "no command" dead android logo. There are no combination of buttons that seems to pull it into a recovery mode. I've read that there is no recovery mode on some Chinese made tablets. If anyone is curious, there are vol+, vol-, a back button, and a power button, on the device. I did some searching for a couple of days and I could not find much info on this tablet (I had a feeling I wouldn't find much), or any way of adding a recovery to a tablet that may not have one. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
Hi there!
I searched XDA and found nothing in your device. I will ask a moderator to move your question to our general Q&A section, found here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help
Otherwise, you could try contacting the manufacturer about flashing original firmware and for the files.
Good luck! ?
Thanks for the reply! I've attempted to find the manufacturer for the device, but the only "venstar" I found in Google, with a legitimate website, didn't appear to be the correct manufacturer.
From my understanding of these Chinese devices, they are mostly all built off of the same motherboard.
I'd also like to add that my device is a 10.1 inch screen. That might make a difference between the motherboards.
if someone has got into recovery mode on a newer Chinese tablet that has the same button layout as mine, I could try the same combination of buttons, or whatever used to do this.
Also, is there a way to force a factory reset through usb to pc using software, like adb?
Has anyone found a way to get into recovery mode on this tablet?
Or any other information on how to fix my issue, maybe some simple things I could try?
I should also mention, I have found a little "reset" button on the tablet. But all it seems to do is just do a basic reset of the tablet. Not a factory reset. I've also tried using that, in a combination of other buttons along with the power button to get into a recovery mode, but nothing seems to work.
HELP !

Acer Iconia One (B1-770) - How to reset to factory? (no recovery and forgot pin)

Hi All,
Doing a favour for a friend whose son keeps changing his pin on his tablet and has been changing it so often (to keep parents out no doubt) he has forgotten the pin and cannot get into the tablet.
His father doesn't really care to lose what's on the tablet as it's the kids own fault and has asked if I could restore it to factory.
In trying to do so i have encountered a litany of issues which i will describe below:
1. I have tried holding Volume Up + Power - This takes me to a screen that just says something to the effect of "Fastboot mode" and nothing else and it essentially just hangs there until batteries run out or I hit the reset pin.
2. I have tried flashing it over ADB using my laptop but also no luck as the device is "unauthorized" since I can't get in to the device with my laptop connected and hit the "authorize" button that comes up when you connect to an ADB interface.
This also means I cannot root the device and flash a recovery on to it.
3. They did not have a google account so restoring via the google account is also a no-go.
I'm not sure what other options there are but I find it very odd that there is no way to get around this. I do realize it's a form of security, but this is a legitimate scenario where one needs to flash the device and there is no way to do so. In any case, i know this is a hairy topic so just my .02, dont want to have a debate lol
Is there any way for me to reset this device to factory or at least flash some form of android os on this tablet?
Thanks to all who read and especially to those who assist!
Still no luck, any thoughts, anyone?
for the life of me I cannot put this device into recovery mode.... i've tried all combinations of buttons but at most it always goes into safemode.... i don't feel like there is recovery on this device even though that probably doesn't make sense.. i simply cannot get INTO revovery.
Has anyone been successful getting into recovery on this device model?
Have you tried on fastboot mode? fastboot -w
