Hello everyone! I am the developer of Prepay Widget, a powerful app that allows you to monitor your account balance through USSD requests.
You can find more info about USSD on Wikipedia, but basically these are short, SMS-like messages used by most GSM and some CDMA providers to deliver information
or control account services. The actual information comes to you in the form of popup toasts, which thids app hides and parses into widgets.
You can find the apps landing page on XDA at the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12348102
However, i want to stress that its important that we get some device-specific feedback, so please post in this thread if you have issues,
this helps me keep track of bugs and requests better.
You can use the Lite version of the app - it has all the functionality of the full version apart from automatic updates (not really that important imo).
As I haven't got one of these phones in my pocket, I need some testers to track down problems. Please, use this thread to comment or
suggest features. It is my belief that addressing issues is best done individually by phone, so if something doesn't work, let me know and I will fix it ASAP.
Market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.ussd.widget.lite
Debugging:
Please use the "Write to developer" item in the Settings menu to send logs. Enable debugging, reproduce your error and then send the logs.
Make sure you include a description - the more detailed the description the better.

does this check data usage for how many GB's you use in a month (for those like me that use over 5 GB a month. lol )
Yes, all you need is the right USSD command for your operator... just look for it online and add it in the app!
ill download this later
this is what I've been loking for!
will install when my HD2 finished being repaired..
Please don't forget to post your USSD commands!
AT&T
*MIN# (*646#) for minute usage.
*BAL# (*225#) for current billing balance.
*DATA# (*3282#) for data and messaging use.
*PAY to make a payment over the phone.
The app doesn't respond to the returned tests (streak 5). I added (104) to handcent's black list so it didn't pop up and the text is in the messaging inbox, but this app only shows"There is no predefined indicators"
I'm not sue I entirely understand. Could you please reiterate exactly what you set as the dial code, what message was returned and what have handsent and blacklists to do with it?
Thanks for the codes though, ill post them in the library thread

We didn't steal anything.
There have been similar apps for years, including on other platforms. What makes Balanced different is that its better - we have better widgets, better functionality and better support.
Perhaps you should write the people who made pandas vs ninjas and tell them how appauled you are at competitive markets... oh wait, you are the competition!
@ftgg99 this app looks great, i'll give it a try and give you my feedback. Thanks
This looks interesting, does anyone know any ussd codes for Cricket?
Sorry for my English. translate.google.com ... Motorola XT502, Android 2.3.3, does not work. Continuously requires reboot.
Hey how do i add an indicator for a USSD code? I have ATT. when i added the USSD i received texts back and that was it. In the app it says that the codes dont have any indicators. am i missing something?

How many times do I need to repeat myself? Balanced is not a copy of USSD Checker. The fact that android's list view is exactly the same in all applications doesn't mean we stole anything from you.
Balanced is similar, but better. This is the last time I respond to either your or your alter egos posts, please be so kind and complain directly to a mod or open another thread.
ftgg99, how to setup it on MTS-Moscow?

Having read this article over on CNet Crave UK I couldn't help but compare it to the standard voice offering within Android.
To get the results of the test for Siri and S-Voice look here:
http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/samsung-galaxy-s3s-s-voice-vs-siri-on-iphone-4s-50008087/
Here is me doing the same test with Google Voice:
Here is my response to the article:
Test One: Call Luke Bailey, the standard Google voice recognition on my HTC One X hits this one out the park... RESULT: Success
Test Two: Whats the weather like today? Another instant success with the standard Google Voice offering, bringing up Google Search with a 5 day forecast for my location in Wigan, UK. RESULT: Success
Test Three: Do I need an umbrella today? This trips up the standard offering by just doing a Google Search for the statement but the first result is half way to success by giving me the option to input my location (which I do again with Voice on the keyboard and it returns a successful YES response) RESULT: Fail
Test Four: Text Luke Bailey, again instant success using the standard Google Voice recognition offering. No problems understanding my Northern Monkey accent when I say "Text Luke Bailey, You will need an Umbrella today." RESULT: Success
Test Five: Slight change of question to suit myself I ask "Find a Good pub nearby" The standard offering understood what I asked but hesitated slightly and gave me five options to pick from. The top being correct required me to use my hands but then swiftly brings up Google and having used location services brings up various pubs.
However even with 15+ pubs within a mile of my house it only brings up those with Google listings the nearest of which is 5 miles away. RESULT: Neither success or fail but requires work.
Test Six: Directions to Wigan Town Hall, it doesn't fail to accurately understand my command and brings up Google Maps with the right directions. RESULT: Success
Test Seven: Set Alarm for...unfortunately due to Google Voice not integrating with the Clock App on my HTC One X this results in a web search when asked to set the Alarm for 1023pm. However Google do list this as a valid command... RESULT: Fail
Test Eight: How High is Mount Everest? 29,029feet bang on and instant answer. RESULT: Success
Test Nine: Tell me a joke? Asking the standard Google Voice to talk to me made me one. RESULT: Fail
Test Ten: Search Bonobo Apes, apparently my Northern Monkey accent isn't helping here and after two attempts I give up but it does seem to they they are Noble Apes lol RESULT: Fail
Test Eleven: Google Voice does not integrate with the Calendar app and offers no commands for it. However I can open up Google Calendar in my browser via Voice to input manually.
Still...RESULT: Fail
Test Twelve: Again as the standard Voice offering is not designed to talk back to you all this does is make me look like a twonk. However for me this beats S Voice and Siri hands down as the web search this results in gives me the YouTube Video for Crossing the Bridge of Death in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Result: FAIL but laced with WIN
Test Thirteen: What's the best smart phone? Well having asked Google Voice it returns with a web search and in the top sponsored results I find the HTC One X with an average of 4 and half stars out of 5 from over 120 seller reviews. Not perfect as it doesn't take consumer reviews into consideration however as I get a result which neither Siri nor S-Voice does I say... RESULT: Success
Test Fourteen: Update Twitter, Again lack of app integration means another web search RESULT: Fail
Test Fifteen: Speed? What is the Capital of Iraq? Answer: Baghdad in 3 seconds flat...RESULT: Success
Conclusion: With seven successes and having read how the Siri and S-Voice offerings don't really fare much better my conclusion is that voice commands only serve their purpose while doing other tasks such as driving and you can't hold your phone. Leaving me with the same opinion I had at the outset, if you either brag about having Siri or I see you talking to your phone as they do in the ads in public, I reserve the right to tell you, you look like a tw*t.
You've entirely missed the point of Siri.

Disability accessibility tool? Make the human race even lazier? A friend for anti social or socially inept types?
Please be a little bit more constructive and tell me what you think the point of Siri is?
As you say I miss the point of Siri when all I've done is compare both offerings as they exist and work from a UK perspective as per the CNET article I fail to realise how me adding GVoice into the mix is missing the point of anything?
I've not even tried to explain what the point of either of the three is. My conclusion is based on personal opinion and even if Siri lives up to what its point is, you'll still look like a twonk using it out in public.
I agree that the human race will be getting lazier and fatter at the same time I'm afraid that we have become to dependent on our technology. It's a scary feeling.

I completely agree with you. Unless you're driving there is no reason to use voice recognition because the accuracy isn't there yet. Mike, interesting to see you weren't able to reply with any constructive reason why "the point of Siri" was missed in this very fair test of voice recognition. This leads me to conclude you're one of the people referred to who likes to brag about Siri or enjoys talking to his phone and looking like a tw*t.
It will not be one of the versions that probably go down in history this 3.10.9, which takes the place of the previous 3.9.17, but, no matter how small, the innovations introduced are numerous and we're not sure appreciated them all.
We start from the section recommended for you. Whether it's app or books (advice on music yet they are not), or even if you are on the homepage of the store, blocking the slice with the Google personalized recommendations you'll notice that at the top there is a new voice, "improve these councils, "which allows us to add people you know to find out their tastes and also receive recommendations based on them (or so says the description of the function). Good theory, too bad that the vast majority of contacts proposed were complete strangers from the other side of the world, with which (we checked) we did not even vague contacts on Google+. We look forward to a future refinement.
Then continue with the translations. Some apps now have a button "translate" at their description, which basically will only call into question Google Translate on the fly to change the text in a language more understandable to us. In this case the theory is good, pity we did not understand when and when not to appear: comparing different applications, different languages, some of them had the button translate it and other were completely lacking. Also in this case we are confident in a future refinement.
If these two functions must be short andarsele a little 'to seek, we turn now to a thing you will see rather often. You will all familiar with the installation of new apps: you choose one, went on his page, click on install, accept the permissions and you will be thrown back to the description of the app while the progress bar will indicate the percentage of completion. Not any more. After accepting the permissions, and then return to the description of the app, you have inserted a new page, which you can see an example on the right. The aim is to highlight related app and installed by others, but the match as you know is not always the best, by clicking on "back to shopping" you will still be redirected to the description of the app to start. We did not find a way to disable this feature, which basically requires a tap in to install any new app. Annoying.
And finally we come to the last news, the only one on which we could hardly rely on something: it is now possible to remove items from the wish list by tapping on the icon in that list, without having to open a description of each app. It is the same method used to delete applications from the complete list of all the ones we have ever installed and certainly saves us a few more steps. Nicely done.
After then the description of the new features, I leave you the link to download the Play Store:http://d-h.st/ZZB
Thank you for the hint!
Thanks for letting us now

Easily add reminders to Google Now without having to speak up or typing queries.
We can add reminders to Google Now by typing or speaking something like "remind me to..." followed by the description and time. But if we have to add reminders again and again this becomes a hassle to type or speak long sentences like this. This is where this Assistant for Google Reminders comes to the rescue!
This Assistant helps you to input your reminders in a much friendlier and easy manner, then it makes the perfect query and opens the default Google Now where you will only need to press the blue tick icon and you will be done.
This saves you the hassle to perfectly speculate the query which Google would want to listen to. You can also add a home screen shortcut on your device if your launcher supports it.
The Assistant does not act as a reminders app, but rather as a mediator app between the users and the Google Now reminders. The reason it uses Google Now reminder mechanism is that Google Now is a product made by Google and hence updated and supported regularly. Plus you get all the benefits like sync, availability, etc.

Good work
Thanks! I downloaded the icon in a hurry, didn't give much thought to it. I made and published the app in only few hours
In your work on this, did you discover a way to create a shortcuts to the list of reminders? Both the google app and Inbox can interface with the reminders, but creating a direct shortcut has proven difficult.

I haven't looked into this, but there must be a definite Activity (screen) for this. Maybe the ROM developers would know.

I've looked, but havent been able to find one that works. Found one mention of the Google app having shortcuts on 7.1.1, another mention of the reminder creation confirmation screen sometimes offering to place a shortcut, but that's the extent of it.

If the app allows to create shortcuts, then someone might be able to get it. Not that it may happen soon, but it is there in the device, so it doesn't look entirely impossible.

Hi, I discovered now that I accidentally named the 2nd version of the keyboard after someone’s trademark. I immediately renamed to the previous name (which I checked now as well for registered trademark) I apologies it wasn’t on purpose by any means. I had two versions of the keyboard so far - the first one was EffectedKeyboard, the second one is just EffectedKeyboard2 from now on. If you encounter any violations on my side or on the side of EffectedKeyboard and its derivatives, please let me know. I take them very seriously and try to fix them much before anyone tell me about them.
Many thanks,
Yours

Ahola! Gang, I updated description and added my personal story additionally. When will I see your comments??
Has anyone from here tried the app? Still long time after submitting the post no response.
I updated the description along with some screenshots. If you haven’t checked the app, please do so. Looking for your feedback.

EffectedKeyboard2 is based on Open Source.
So first of all, thanks for commenting.
What do you need its source for though? Menny’s source is available online under Apache License.
Mine you can deserialize if you’re looking for suspicious behavior, etc. to see that there is no weird-weirdo stuff is going on. You just won’t be able to recompile it, but yet once again I don’t want people to take a ride on my success in future and publish versions of my keyboard with stuff like key-loggers and other sh** that collects data. If you look carefully, you’ll realize that no one could even actually install it outside of play store. Why. Once again because it’s been gone through enormous trials to be unsuccessfully pirated and be uploaded to 3rd party stores.
If you’re looking for EffectedKeyboard2 source code as a friend, just to fork and add some features, then there’s a way to get what you want.
Generally speaking there’s an option to drop me a ping from within the app. Once we talk, I’m always open to hear new requests and if you saw the comments, tens of users got the features they wanted and they sort of like the fact that they can just “ask and get” what they want.
It’s not that I charge anything from anyone of them. It’s more of utilizing the capabilities of what is possible rather than going violent into something illegal or doing something forcefully planned as being perceived intolerable. For those cases there are indeed lots of suitcases, lots of jailbroken devices (where people’s credit cards disappear…) and many people who just live in this circle of hate.
My keyboard is based on Anysoftkeyboard, legally, I also spoke to Menny a couple of times. He’s a great guy and a great engineer.
Anything that is in the grey area, or sort doesn’t have clear answers right away get very very shortly fixed just right away, once something in that manner appears.
And if you’d like to have a good read and understand whom’s whom, there is an About section inside the app, which is literally an About section if that makes sense. I mean there is actually an informative information inside there.
Does it sound quite good to you?

Why you replayed in that's bad way i didn't said anything in wrong! I just asked to you if your project is have an open-sourced like Menny i really want to fork for my personal using and adding some new features like new emojis from Android 12L or create more themes to main app or adding new languages to the available list inside the app itself nothing else but you were talked to my N' you think I'm the theft or bad guy to steal you work NO absolutely you are fault about me because I'm not the app developer and donn know anything about hacking or something One of the accusations you made against me without knowing who I was. It was very sadness word's for me. I'm sorry I bothered you I asked you to the source code in a nice way but you rejected by the bad way that's so strange IDK why you call me a PIRATE!!
Dear @GorranKurd, I understand there’s most probably been a language barrier.
First of all, under no circumstances I referred to you as a pirate. I assumed you wanted some features (and if you translate my reply to your favourite language you’ll see that as well: ) I suggested you to drop me a ping, and simply ask for the list of features that you want, especially when I do that literally for free of charge. And so I did to all of my users who’s been asking.
As of piracy, and the part you are referring to: I said that there are malicious users over the internet against whom I have defense. They add Internet permissions and other (as I referred to sh** stuff) unwanted behavior to ANY kind of software — not only keyboards. They they steal both mine and YOUR data and credentials. Referring to the same sentence, I’ve added that you CAN and MIGHT WANT TO and IT’S OKAAAAAY and welcomed to decompile my code and see that there is literally NO unwanted behavior or any intention for such. Since you realize that it’s like, I mean… A keyboard. People type passwords and credit card numbers with it. I said you simply won’t be able to recompile it back.
I hope that now it makes a little bit of more sense.
I realize that I tried to sound as much clear as possible and put many details, but please understand that others will read it too and they’ll simply want to be informed on as much many details in message as possible.. As of yourself, would you like to drop me a ping? Via email for instance? That way I’ll be able to explain anything in more personal way, without being worried about the rest of the community who reads the messages and of course to work with you on the new features (you mentioned new smilies, themes and languages). You’ll literally be able to command on anything you want . I welcome you to read the comments on the app in the Play Store to see how others enjoyed the process. And no, 99% of them are not friends and family, those are people whom I came across the Internet just like you .
Does it sound better now?
Please let me know if anything else still sounds offensive, or bad, etc. As you might have already understood there were no such intentions.
[EDIT: I didn’t succeed to quote twice in a row, so I hope you’ll see this. I hope you won’t remain with the negative impression you’ve got.]

Bro, you misunderstood me. I asked for your code to make more improvements and adding new features because it has a simple and beautiful interface that only contains the necessary things that are necessary for the user for typing you nailed it that you removed the Files & Storage and contacts permissions are no required to work app, So and I think it's good enough to have only one permission which is vibration control and other Google Play Billing is okay and safe permission! because of that i like to use your for daily using and typing it's smaller size with important options and I think is much better than the original one!

Hiiiii
I’m so glad I don’t sound like a monster anymore!!
I understood you are asking for the code to make improvements, I simply tried to cover as much topics as possible in a single message.
My keyboard is based on open source, but it’s not open source. I was talking about an option to drop me an email since it’s much more convenient to talk about such things there.
As of improving the keyboard, we will find a way to improve it in a way that’ll work for both of us.
It’s not open source as you might have understood, it’s based on open source.
Would you like talk about the things you’d like to add? Do you use it?
May I ask you where you from? What languages you’d like to add?
If you really want to code, then at least the themes are pluggable. You can upload them to the store and use them inside the keyboard.
If you ask me, many Menny’s users were trying to improve his keyboard and just gave up because it’s TONS over TONS of code. I wouldn’t say that helping for free does worth the hustle.
And that’s why I’m offering working on what you want together - you have the keyboard, so just ask me what you want, I’ll deliver and you’ll have it on your keyboard 100% usable and what you don’t like you can simply ask for changes, even 1000 times.
But you really don’t have to code new features for me for free. I plan to earn money with that keyboard one day, so why would you work for free for whilst someone is getting paid.. I mean I would hire you, but I don’t have how to pay you.. And allowing you to work for free (since again it’s going to be a commercial product) is sort of a bad sense. If someone helps me I want to give back, but I cannot give back for someone who’s coding for me.
You are able to command and tell me that this this and this suck or excellent and you want this this and this. And those are the sort of things that I’ve been doing with other users.
Does it sound cool?
Like I’d like to clarify: people like you who ask for new features from me, who know what they want to see are pure gold for me. I mean I’m searching for such opportunities all the time. So I wouldn’t like for that to be missed.
And thank you so much for describing what you like in the keyboard!!!!!! I analyze the things that people describe from time to time and learn many lessons from those descriptions.
You rock! So would you like to make a list of the things you wanted to add and improve?
Would that work for you btw?

Hello again dear @vitalipom haha no no you are a good man and smart at same time, first of all sorry about my bad English and misspelling because it's not my native language!
I'm a translator and added my language Kurdish to the Menny AnySoftKeyboard from an early version i think was 10 years ago when i started to translate the app interface and then a learned to create a language pack to AnySoft till 2020 i just used the mennys keyboard as my default keyboard but they occurred some issues and bugs that caused the program to crash and freeze on screen you may knew that bug! Because of that i stopped use that keyboard and replaced by Samsung Keyboard after the Sam team was added my language to the Sam Keyboard on OneUI 3.1, After two or more years in the past month i tried to test AnySoft again an notices that the bug was fixed .. And then about your keyboard i saw an old issue on AnySoftKeyboard that you put you forked version on the replay comment and i found yours by that way I installed and loved it's cool and simple nice ui/ux but i looked to my language Kurdish it was not there because of that i search on the net and google takes me to here XDA ... So I have a lot questions and i wana help you if you wanted too i can create new language pack for my language and you include in your app also i have and old forked version of menny main project that i created to many cool themes and so on..

I would LOVE to get your help!! Thank you
As of Kurdish apparently you can install it, I’ll just have to add it to the main UI. Generally, simply install Menny’s Keyboard Kurdish language pack - the one that’s in the Google Play Store that works with Anysoftkeyboard and it’ll work right away.
So first, let’s see that Kurdish works for you.
And then we can try to see what else you’d like to have in the keyboard. But first let’s make sure you have a nice set up keyboard you can have for your daily usage .

@GorranKurd Did you happen to succeed installing Kurd on my keyboard? You just install Menny’s one (for Anysoftkeyboard) and it works for Effectedkeyboard2 the same way as well.
I know it’s not under Languages in Effected Key, but I’ll add it there later as well.
If you could drop me a direct message, I’d send something small and nice for you as well. (It’s a surprise.)
Let me know when you happened to be here around .
