TWRP backup 2.8.1.0 - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone make a backup of anything I'm trying to backup 5.0 and had luck restoring? Or has anyone tried KT's TWRP making a backup and and had a good restore?

You're on a bad version. 2.8.1.0 was known to have problems restoring. The latest version is 2.8.3.0 I'm using KT version without problems. I have not tried it with 5.0 as yet (just installed it minutes ago).

Do you or anyone have a 2.8.3.0 zip of TWRP I CAN FLASH? PLEASE AND THANK YOU

Sad story.
But what is the problem? Any error message? We can't help us if you don't tell us what's wrong.

MD5 sum mismatch? Then either your backup is corrupted or you changed versions of Clockworkmod Recovery in between backing up and restoring. What version are you using?

Did you rename the backup by chance to something with spaces in it and unapproved characters? Backups can't have any spaces and must use A-Z, 0-9, and underscores in the filename.

There were a lot of issues with CWM recovery v6 prior to 6.0.1.0. One of them being backups getting corrupt. There's good chances your backup is corrupt and you'll have to start fresh. You can try installing 6.0.1.0 and see if you're able to restore (although I would doubt) or you can try to restore partially (Go in Advanced Restore).
Either way, make sure to upgrade to the latest version once you are done.
One more thing, have you touched the Clockworkmod folder in any way? Touched the blobs folder? Freed space? Because the way the new Clockworkmod works is incremental, so you don't want to modify anything.
No i didn't tamper with dat folder. Pls can u point me to where i can download the version u are talking about?

Personally I do not like the new CWM v6, so I'm using version 5.8.0.2 Touch. Very reliable, but the backups are larger than the new one (but complete instead of incremental)

Please give me help and advice!

I've been having issues with CWM and Philz Recovery. CWM backs up not always fails to restore /data and Philz doesn't even backup /Data and stops the processes. TWRP does back up. And restores perfectly.
Are these known issues?
Also what's the best kernel for stock KitKat?

I don't know how to fix this issues with the recoveries...
Btw, if u want performance, flash the faux123 kernel, but if u want battery saving, flash the Aero Kernel.
I'm using Aero right now, and it's the best in my opinion
Can I flash with recovery?
Om using twrp 2.7.7

Actually goomanager will report that nothing found for the GS5. FYI, TWRP has had many reports of being unreliable (not being able to restore a backup). Many users are using Philz recovery instead.

Here's TWRP, After you make a backup, try to restore. I found that it failed.

Update your version of cwm. It's a bug in cwm.

Are you using 6.0.4.5. I don't use cwm, I use twrp and I know it was fixed in that. It had the same problem for awhile.

Its not a bug. Its a lack of development
No recoveries on any snapdragon 800 device could get the correct time until we understood how the Qualcomm time daemon worked. Once we knew, it was implemented in Philz and TWRP. CWM doesn't bother implementing anything modern. Its a dead recovery.

[Completed] [Q] Nandroid Backups

Hello!
Was wondering if I'd get new notifications when restoring from a Nandroid backup.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. I'm not sure what you notifications you're talking about? A nandroid will restore you device to the same condition your phone was in when you made the backup. It's like restoring an image on your pc.

Well.. General new notifications. Say for example, a text message on Whatsapp. Do you know if that would appear in my notifications or in the app when I restore?
If you got them before, you'll get them again. A nandroid is nothing more than an image of your system the exact same way it was when you made the nandroid.
