[Completed] [Q] Nandroid Backups - XDA Assist

Hello!
Was wondering if I'd get new notifications when restoring from a Nandroid backup.

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. I'm not sure what you notifications you're talking about? A nandroid will restore you device to the same condition your phone was in when you made the backup. It's like restoring an image on your pc.

Well.. General new notifications. Say for example, a text message on Whatsapp. Do you know if that would appear in my notifications or in the app when I restore?

If you got them before, you'll get them again. A nandroid is nothing more than an image of your system the exact same way it was when you made the nandroid.

Recover notes from backup

Hi guys,
I had a question regarding recovering from backup. I backed up my stock Rom using twrp and now recovered from that. However the notes app data was lost. Is there a way to recover it?
Thanks

You'll wanna check out the EFS Backup solution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2514095
or TWRP offers an EFS backup as well. Not sure of other recoveries and TWRP does everything I need it to do, and well.
But if it is already corrupted...yikes. I haven't seen any tools to fix that on the Nexus 5. Remember some in the Samsung forums, but not helpful here...
Some people had success with just fastboot flashing the stock cache.img file, though depends on what borked it in the first place.

[Q] sim card

My nexus 5 will not read any sim card at the moment. I flashed back to stock 4.4.3 and ever since that, no matter what carrier sim card I put in, I get no call reception. The phone is recognizing there is a sim in because I flashed a custom ROM and whenever I put in a sim from T-Mobile,att, etc., there APN settings come up. I have no idea what's going on. I am no noob. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a hardware fault then. Assume you have IMEI etc visible in settings > About phone > Status

Restore a nandroid if you have one. It should fix it.
Flashing factory images didn't help me to recover the network signal and to detect the sim card.

I had the same problem with my n4 and I brought it to LG for RMA. It's pretty much the only thing you can do.

And this may sound crazy but is it possible for me to push a backup to my phone through adb and then do a nandroid restore through twrp that way?

Yes it's possible. Are you trying to just return to stock/another rom or do you want to flash back your nandroid? There's an easy way to flash zip files through twrp easily. *adb sideload*

If someone is willing to upload a nandroid backup of stock that would be great... Preferably 4.4.2

I've tried that... No dice. I've tried everything. At this point I'm guessing its hardware. Although it doesn't make much sense that the phone is recognizing there is a sim in just will not connect to a network. This is a major bummer.

Yep. Same thing happened to me. It would detect my sim, it would connect to WiFi, but it wouldn't connect to mobile data. I flashed almost everything I could find and nothing worked. Just RMA it.

32 GB to 16 GB?

I have a 32 GB version Nexus 5, but now I see this in the memory section of the settings:
I run Slimkat+ Code Blue kernel... what is happened?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Covered million times. Even in some of the sticky threads. Please use search
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
You mean the fact that 32 GB isn't really 32 GB but something like 29 GB?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
No. I mean a 32 GB version showing as a 16 GB version
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I find it... so I have to do a factory reset to solve this?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
If I full wipe the smartphone and then I restore the nandroid backup of the Slimkat (a nandroid of how I am at the moment) it will work?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Possibly.

Ok, let's try.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
It doesn't work..
How can I do?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Ok, I'm going to use the second method. (Second post of the thread "how to flash the factory image"in the sticky roll-up)
Just a question: flashing the factory image will delete my nandroid backup, right?
If yes, I can save a copy of the backup in my pc and paste it in the device after flashing the factory image and restore it?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
The factory reset would also have deleted your nandroid if you'd done it from stock recovery like the thread says.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
In fact I see this after the factory reset with TWRP, anyway I can do what I said in the last post?
To flash the recovery stock I simply use the command fastboot flash like I was flashing the factory images or I have to do anything else?

Backup your nandroid to computer

Now I try, thanks.

Flashing the factory image will wipe your device if you use the flash-all bat. Copy your nandroid to your pc. You can copy it back after you re-flash install your recovery

Ok, it worked, now I have only the last question:
In the "TWRP" folder in the Nexus now I have to put only the "BACKUPS" folder or "BACKUPS" and ".twrps"?
Thanks!

You'll need to put the nandroid backup file in twrp/backups/your device serial number/
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I957 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, but now that I have reflashed the TWRP there is no folder in it, just TWRP..anyway I saved on PC the whole folder "TWRP"

[Q] Full Backup (not rooted)

I am looking to do a full backup of my phone (data, settings and everything) so I can root it and play around a bit and not lose anything.
I tried helium backup but had no clue what i was doing and wasn't able to do a full backup. e-mailed clockworkmod and didn't get a response.
Anyone have some advice on what i can do?
Thank you

Have you unlocked your bootloader beforehand?
Otherwise
I don't think you can backup fully and continue, you pull the /sdcard via adb,
Backup apps via Google,
Unlock bootloader and push it back and sync all your apps,
Never unlocked the bootloader before, not sure how to do it
