[APP] [3.0+] AutoKeyguard - Android Apps and Games

Not my app but one I've been using for quite a while now. Similar to a lot of apps I've read about recently, it controls your keyguard when connected to a trusted network. Really lightweight and simple app that works really well for me. Device/rom I'm using is galaxy s4 running CyanogenMod 11. Auto Keyguard in Google Play store.
Just wanted to share!

Its my third device on which im doing this with tasker.

Tasker is great but kinda like buying a Swiss Army knife when all you need is a toothpick. If all you want is for your phone to unlock when you're at home/work ect, this app is a lot easier to use for that and with some of these other apps being talked about recently I just thought I would share what I've had good luck with.

How to detach an app from the Play Store

Right, I'm a PowerAMP pro user, but with a pretty old phone. The latest app is working but it's slow and sometimes lags. The poweramp site also offers the old 1.4 version which works right for me. Now, all is fine and dandy but I;m a bit annoyed by the app always showing up there to be updated. So I searched for a method to detach the app from the market and learnt that the bug has been solved long ago and apps can't be detached. So I tried changing the app's signature, of course with no luck, my android dev skills being close to absolute zero.
So I ask you, is there any way to do this? I am not pirating the app, so don't worry
I'm also trying to convince the developer to make an unsigned version of the app specifically for old timers like me, but with no success until now..
Just use LBE Privacy guard and freeze internet connection permission for this particular app..
So it will not connect to net and not telling you that new version is available..
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.

If it doesnt need to connect to the internet for anything else you could use droidwall to block it from accessing the playstore
If your rooted you could use blackmart to download the app and never have to update it
Or see the updates notifications saying there's an update

I know Titanium Backup can detach apps, though I am not sure if it is available in the free version. However, I do recommend the paid version of Titanium Backup anyway.

I have never been able to make that function actually work and I've tried with several apps that I don't want updates for.

On a related note, is there a way to remove apps from the "My Apps"list? It is really annoying to have to scroll through a list of apps containing tons of apps that you may have tried for a while and then uninstalled when you need to reinstall something. And why is the "My Apps" list in random order and not alphabetical?

As far as I know (and after some quick Googling), there is no way to remove any apps from the giant "My Apps" list. However, I use the Appbrain android market replacement, and it lets you customize your lists and sort them better. You can remove devices from view though.

Thanks, I will definitely look into that and continue to research the issue as well. If I find any other solutions, I won't hesitate to post an update.

[Q] Plugin for lollipop notification modes

Today I've been playing with the new modes in lollipop and realised that priority is basically the old silent. With that in mind I went to set it up for during the night and for when at work. Problem is you can only choose one start and one end time so I'd have to pick either overnight or work rather than both. A first world problem I know but I've gotten used to automating my phone (cheers llama)
Does anyone know of a locale plugin that could switch between these settings for use with llama or tasker? This would make it far more flexible! A Google search found nothing
I know an app that you can use to do this. It' Atooma. But I'm not sure that it's working on Android lollipop. You can try it, it's free and you can find it on google play store.

Hi, it looks like Atooma is an app similar to both llama & tasker. I'm not after a new automation app but rather a plugin to toggle new settings found in lollipop that can be used with llama. Thanks for the response though.
I want it too!

an App that lets me use my fingerprint reader for passwords

I am coming from an Iphone 6s and I cannot tell you how much i love touch ID for apps and passwords. the pixel has this feature but none of the apps have the ability to use it as a password or a pass through instead of typing my password in every time.
Most password managers let you do this. I use LastPass and I can sign into apps with my fingerprint.

I still have the 5X and all supported credit card apps have this feature for me:
AT&T
Chase
PayPal to name a few.
They're still rolling out but do you have any of the apps I listed installed?

Keepass2Android can use imprint as well.
Yeah it's still rolling out and all secure apps with access to personal information will all be taking advantage of the fingerprint ID. That's not a fact, just my personal thought. Hopefully it will be mandatory at some point.

mandatory or not, just an ease of use would be better. they can make it mandatory that apps offer it, and you can enroll if you want. but to have sensors and not tie them to passwords for applications and logins seems crazy.

thats not an option, thats going out of my way to get somehting that is offered by the creators of the device. and lets just skip over the security issues of android applications and the play store. you need security, you store it local and that local unlocks a key that says yes this is the fingerprint of the person who inputed that password. having to get an app for that is dangerous and ignorant in the long run. there isn't a cookie cutter approach on apple either, you can use it or not. just like you can use it or not on android. the difference is apple forced the app develops to at least have it built in for ease of use if people so chose.
Ive been an android user since the motorola droid in 2009, and only the 6s was my first iphone. it worked well, and it had it's issues, plenty of them. however it also had a streamlined unity to the apps and OS that android lacks, and the advent of the 4 messaging apps and video apps is proof of that.
they need a simple answer for this, and downloading an app that may or may not be secure isn't the answer.

LastPass IS more secure than default Google security. More encryption. Only in the business for security. Google is half in the business for leaving snoop holes for advertising research, etc. I don't personally mind this but I'm sure you've seen the privacy complaints.
Android leaves a lot open to development. iOS does unify things more, and you should give feedback to Google if you want something like "Touch ID" which just sounds like stock LastPass for iOS, to be honest.
Your complaint sort of seems to me like asking for more from stock, but I don't get why it matters to install an app (if app is designed right, which it damn better be as a password app!)
Maybe Google will include it in future. Like mentioned, give feedback.

and there is the problem, i travel for a living and apps and bank accounts and card accounts, hotels, airlines, all kinds of secure sites and opassword for work that I use through my device. on my iphone I logged in once and had the option to touch ID in for the rest of the time.
I'd be fine is that was an option, but most of the apps so far don't fingerprint sensor back into the application. it can get websites... wich is nice i guess, but if I am doing websites I'll just access it on my laptop and i already have them saved there.
i'd be happy if lastpass saved my fingerprint in place of password for applications, and not just websites. but right now the only one that did was Dashlane, and that app is a dumpsterfire of bloat and uglyness on chrome.
so again... an app seems like a good idea, but simplicity is also a featture people would like. android has never been overly simple, that is why I like it, but this seems like a no brainer for future apps.

Hmm. Did you try LastPass premium? For $13/ year... Cheap like dirt compared to hotels and flights....
And I can fill all sorts pf apps with my fingerprint... LastPass for me is like TouchID acts for you. Indispensable so worth $13. All browsers and all devices wifh functioning browsers.
What else can't you do on stock Android that you could on TouchID? I'll let know know if I can do it with LastPass.

Lastpass premium is worth it, I am using the free version to make sure it works as intended before paying money for it. really it's the fact that touchID was baked into the OS that made it so fluid. no extra app or multiple touches. just thumb and go. i've gotten used to last pass, and thankfully it's asking for logins when I use them, and that is helpful.
BofA is another app that uses it.
Yes for android-O Fingerprint Gesture app let you perform actions using fingerprint sensor and many more.

Removing Bloatware, how to?

Hey everyone, first post.
I just picked up a Gear S2 classic. I started playing around with it and so far I have a few questions and issues with a couple things. I'm pairing it with my Galaxy S7.
My first and foremost concern is the removal of the stock and bloatware apps. I realize most people may use the fitness aspect of the watch, or its other built-in features, but I won't. All of the pre-installed apps are cluttering the watch for me. For example, I won't be using the email app (I use Gmail solely), Buddy, Find My Phone (I have location turned off), S Health, Running, S Voice (I thoroughly prefer Google), Samsung Pay, World Clock (it's really irritating and pointless to have 4 different clock apps on the watch. They should be lumped into one like on the phone), Messages (unless this can work with Textra), Music Player (I use another music app on my phone, although I do appreciate that this one somehow controls the music once it's started on that app on my phone). This is a make or break point for me as far as keeping or selling the watch.
Next, is the only way to use the Galaxy Apps store to have to sign into your phone with your Samsung account? I absolutely don't want to be connected to the Samsung Cloud. This is the only reason I'm not using Samsung Pay. If I sign into anything on my phone with my Samsung account, it signs my whole phone in and connects me to the darned Samsung Cloud. Many people have their information synced up there even with all sync options off, so I want to avoid this.
Third, some notifications like the ones from Snapchat are not being acknowledged by the watch at all. And yes, all notifications are selected to appear from the Gear App (Snapchat included). And no, I don't have the blacklist setting on.
I appreciate everyone's help with this, thank you so much. As much info as possible would be wonderful.
I am just wondering why you bought this watch if you don't want any of the connected features that come with it? . In any event I don't know of any way to remove pre-installed apps

I mean, it's supposed to be something like the best smartwatch out there in a lot of ways, and I wanted essentially an extension of my phone on my wrist that could function on its own too. I also have a Moto 360 first gen I play around with here and there, and for a first generation smartwatch, it does well. So far, with the issues outlined above, I can't really say the same about the Gear S2.

I'm looking for a good Hiking App for my S3

I've got a Samsung S3 Frontier and want to use it to for hiking. I use All-Trails on my Android phone but they don't don't provide a S3 app. Does anyone know of an app that will let me load a trail, I can use a GPX file to load the trail into a different app on my phone but I don't see an app that also has the S3 support I need.
I'm looking for the ability to at least track distance, waypoint so it can be showin on a map, speed, elevation, elevation gain per hour, etc. The watch has all the sensors I need, I just need an app will work for hikes.
Looked at MapMyHike but it doesn't have a S3 companion app.
Any help would be appreciated,
Cliff

Hi,
I like to use komoot.
(can't give you the link, cause i didn't used xda much yet)
I think you got all the features you named. If you want to have an offline map, buy it or try to use some discounts.

I just asked something similar and I see you didn't get much help either. Did you use the Samsung Health hiking feature? It worked really good on the way up and didnt measure crap on the way down. I wonder if there is a way to get the hiking feature on its on widget and out of the health widget

Finally - after 2 years of waiting - there is now a real hiking app available, that has all the features I always wanted: Locus Map Pro/Free Watch.
This works in conjunction with
Locus Map Free/Pro - Hiking GPS navigation and maps phone app (for Android) - which is a feature and map rich app by itself.
The watch app support lots of different maps (not just Google...). It supports track recording, navigation, stats etc.
You can plan a hike on your phone and then follow it on the watch.
I fully recommend it.
I used it now on several hikes and am fully satisfied - finally after trying so many other "hiking" apps.
More info on the locusmap website (sorry linke posting not allowed.

This is unusable solution, because you must have phone with you. It's not standalone application.
Have you tried Gaia GPS? It just might work with your S3. I've recently gone camping at Lower Lake and almost got off route. I would've wandered in circles for a while had it not been for this app. I downloaded the offline map of the area before the hike, and it paid off - I was able to find my way back to the trail. My friend hikes more often than me, and he prefers PeakVisor. He says this app works kind of like augmented reality - you point your camera at the peak, and the app shows you the info on it and the trail to it using your camera and advanced 3D technology.
