Must be 5.0.1, since this version would age considerably by then, Perhaps it doesn't matter for LG G Pro 2 as it would be the last official/community update and there wont be a successor to it.
On a general note, Kitkat performance is sluggish especially in UI transitions on G Pro 2.

Lollipop, it would be the last official/community update and there wont be a successor to it.

Are you kiddn' me ? what the F..... is wrong with LG ? we bought a brand new phone that's barely one year old and after this update we should never except anymore Update ?
all the update goes to G3 and those who has more money to buy that.. shame..

This is all unofficially so,calm down

Everything begins with a speculation, from religion to science. Well, G Pro series hasn't been an economically viable proposition for LG, perhaps that might contribute to rumors.

Well!
Pro 2 is still a solid and high performance phone even after 10 months. :good:
The Lollipop update is certainly the most welcome as I intend to keep using the Pro 2 until a later date in 2015. :fingers-crossed:
Quick quick! LG, push harder and faster like the K-Pop !

It shoots 4k videos, Qualcomm 800 SOC, but my experience is generally contrary. Scrolling whether be it menus or Web page is not a smooth affair, it's quirky most of the time. The only feature that is on par with competition is its camera blessed with OIS and presence of SD card slot that's absent from many high end devices.

I really doubt that. LG is not so communicative about updates.
But even the G2 received everything up to 5.0, and all the updates were done well. (they work, they make the phone better, not worse.)
I think the G Pro 2 will also get 2 years of support. (And I hope we will also get CM12 by then.)

I would like to see that, but for most of us, but by the time Google's update cycle iterates, an eternity would pass for G Pro 2.

Sources say Android 5.1 is due Early 2015. So I suspect we will get a few more versions before the device goes end-of-life.
But I agree. LG should be much more open with their updates.

Words like "early" are replete with ambiguities. I have a Moto G 2013 and it's still awaiting Lollipop update despite Motorola being exclusively vocal about its update schedule. Pronouncement of update is entirely different from getting it.

What are the odds we get a 6.0 ROM soon?

Since it's being released in a couple days, is it possible we will get the source code to build for OnePlus?
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
it is possible, but i don't know what will happened
From the official sources, no clue. From ROM devs, I'd say give it a month once source code drops. Cyanogenmod already built for this device, I mean look at the back of the phone, so I'm sure they will support us for at least 2 more android versions. My very first android phone the Droid Incredible came out in 2010 and for rom support from devs all the way up to 4.4.4, so I'd say pretty dang high from rom devs. Helps also that we have a simple bootloader unlock, which makes devs even more inclined to work on the device. Based on my past device experience, we'll get at least 3 more major versions, 6.0 included, maybe more. By then, your battery will be useless, and you'll have moved on, which is awesome.

CM are only obligated to support this device until April next year, so Marshmallow will be the last official version we get. They're contracted for 24 months from the time of release and they'll drop this device like a hot potato the first chance they get.

While I'd like to agree with you, that's in regards to business, we will see 6.0 for that reason alone. I was more referring to the fact that we still see updates on the nexus 4 up to 5.1 and the fact that open popular devices seem to get much longer support. Wasn't trying to disagree with you at all in that respect. I'm not that likes to hang onto their old devices, or sell them to friends, so I have seen how amazing that support can be even for older devices. My TF101 tablet is still rocking, and running 5.1.1 it's smoother than it's ever been. Don't think that'll see 6.0, but I didn't expect it to make it to 5.0. It all comes down to "We'll see how long it gets supported, but don't demand anything past 6.0" even though historically, we should get 3 more major versions if it follows most devices paths when it comes to rom support. That boing said, I'll be flashing 6.0 as soon as we get a rom that can multiboot!

There's no doubt we'll see the next version after Marshmallow on this phone, but I can guarantee you it won't be in the form of official updates via Cyanogen Inc, it'll be in the form of community developed ROMs via CyanogenMod. If you meant CyanogenMod and not Cyanogen Inc then I misunderstood you.
I just meant Roms in general

Sounds good to me! We have great devs here! Hopefully they don't leave for the Nexus phones, they really aren't worth the $ in my opinion. 808 and 810 have too many problems. I got the Moto X Pure and had that for 2 weeks and even the 808 had terrible heating issues. This years chipsets by Qualcomm are just terrible. Not to mention even now, 3 weeks in they have no dev support and Motorola (now Lenovo) is very shady company.

And even if they were shady, I think OnePlus still takes the #1 spot in that category lol

Moto E: cheap budget phone that I think people only bought as a placeholder when they broke a phone or something else happened, it's not a flagship. nobody bought it to use for 2+ years and I don't think it was intended as such.
Moto x: did you see that the pure is getting updated? That means it was the carriers decision, not Motorola's. Also, it's easy to convert the att/Verizon version to the pure version and then you'll get the update fine.

As soon as Lenovo brought out Pure they let go about 500 Motorola employees, many who were in the dev department... They are giving people hard times about returns saying it will take 6-8 weeks to get their money back on an overnight return label. The pure QC is piss poor, if you go to their forums, their most popular thread is about returning the phone... This clearly isn't the same Motorola we used to love. I'm not big on OnePlus either, I only came back here, because at least I know my OnePlus works, I'll never buy from them again though, that's for sure.

Will mi4c get Marshmallow update?

Fellow users,
Greetings. I am concerned on an issue since it is nowhere listed that Mi4c will get Marshmellow. Will mi4c get Marshmallow update? please confirm with link. TIA
Of course it will, its only a 2 months old device so they can't just ditch it like that. The specs can easily handle Android M.

Well the Mi3 and Mi4 is still stuck with kitkat 4.4.3/4.4.4 and they can easily handle lollipop. When I bought this phone, I sorta accepted the fact that android updates won't come. To be fair Xiaomi is updating MIUI OS quite often so I guess it's fine. Anyway I'm hoping that we get marshmallow on this powerful device. It'll be a waste not to get it
I was wondering if the phone needs android updates in order to get new emojis
It will

I hope mi4c gets marshmallow as well, it just that I haven't seen any official confirmation. Personally I'm afraid that xiaomi might not update this phone because it's not available globally.
I would also like to see kernel source released, so we won't be tied to xiaomi to release updates.

Any developers here would do it if it was somwhat posibile but Samsung doesn't release the source code of Exynos so it's somewhat impossibile. It's like you need to build a town with buildings but you don't have a map of pipes to see here you need to put it...
Developers need to write all the drivers and with guessing what where it goes and really is impossibile.
My Moto G 2013 will get CM 14 beacuse Motorola released the source code for Android 5.1 and they have a starting point. Here we have nothing.
Not going to happen. We'll see it in roughly six months.... Oh well... Samsung supports their devices like one time phones. Only sales matters no support. They have let their customers down so many times now...
I'm afraid that they'll make some patch and security update of Android 6 for S7/Edge sooner. But let's hope that they'll push hard for Note 7 and some king will port it on S7.
I'd start hunt for it. I feel free to give 20 USD donate for stable (almost) clean Android 7 ROM

Im sure the international phones will get it this year, carrier phones will get it next year heh
As Eurofighter_ty said above, there will be no "porting" of Android N (or any other non-Touchwiz ROM like CyanogenMod) to a Samsung device with an Exynos SoC due to proprietary sources that Samsung will not release. There are exceptions where an extremely talented and motivated dev takes the time to reverse engineer drivers.
If history serves, it will be several months before Samsung starts rolling Nougat out, newest and most important devices first (N7, S7, S7E...). These are things to know before buying any Samsung device.
Maybe, i should just wait for S8 then XD

I would agree, I've seen major android updates in the past where its been like a step backwards and so it only leads to disappointment. Hopefully we are at a stage with android where this update (6 to 7) is more of a polishing of the current OS. Yes I know there are some additional features but its not a major overhaul as we've had in the past. I think most people would mostly appreciate some better consistency with battery life, Im not saying mine isnt good but there still seems to be a high android OS usage,so hopefully the enhanced doze feature tackles this, but we'll see. The one benefit of not getting the update right now is that over the next few months hopefully a lot of issues will be ironed out, for instance app compatibility. There are almost always cases where "I've just upgraded but now XXXX app doesnt work??" and you have to wait for the dev to update so their app so that it works nicely with the latest release.
Some of the Android N features are already in the S7. Multi window for example. Or Android for Work which overlaps with Knox. Other stuff is nice but only for new devices, like the seamless updates. The new JIT may be an exception, and the new graphics subsystem would also be nice.
About the VR stuff: I double Samsung will enable it for the Gear VR but we can of course hope.
Expect to have android N next year around April or May

It´s not being retarded at all. They are taking the time to test the builds and take care of found bugs to improve build quality, I actually like that a lot since the update we´ll get is much more stable by the end of February.

yes, it's being retarded, cause nougat should have been delivery to all world back in final of 2016 !!! Our phones are almost pure google phones!!! Nougat was released in August!!! Manufactures (not just Moto) had the time to test it and deploy it to their phones, specially Moto!!!

And yes, prob they are delaying the release cause the india release was full of bugs, that's the only positive aspect of that.
You do realise that if they just release it like that, you'd still call them retarded because they release buggy, unfinished builds.

Their beta is still ongoing I don't think we'll get it on the remaining days of 2017 nor even on January 2018.
Technically they can say- " well we did...there is beta Oreo released before 2018." which is lame.
Similar situations I had on Meizu with their flyme and huawei back when I had 6p...they said "well, there's an update, beta is out"
