Any developers here would do it if it was somwhat posibile but Samsung doesn't release the source code of Exynos so it's somewhat impossibile. It's like you need to build a town with buildings but you don't have a map of pipes to see here you need to put it...
Developers need to write all the drivers and with guessing what where it goes and really is impossibile.
My Moto G 2013 will get CM 14 beacuse Motorola released the source code for Android 5.1 and they have a starting point. Here we have nothing.

Not going to happen. We'll see it in roughly six months.... Oh well... Samsung supports their devices like one time phones. Only sales matters no support. They have let their customers down so many times now...

I'm afraid that they'll make some patch and security update of Android 6 for S7/Edge sooner. But let's hope that they'll push hard for Note 7 and some king will port it on S7.
I'd start hunt for it. I feel free to give 20 USD donate for stable (almost) clean Android 7 ROM

Im sure the international phones will get it this year, carrier phones will get it next year heh

As Eurofighter_ty said above, there will be no "porting" of Android N (or any other non-Touchwiz ROM like CyanogenMod) to a Samsung device with an Exynos SoC due to proprietary sources that Samsung will not release. There are exceptions where an extremely talented and motivated dev takes the time to reverse engineer drivers.
If history serves, it will be several months before Samsung starts rolling Nougat out, newest and most important devices first (N7, S7, S7E...). These are things to know before buying any Samsung device.

Maybe, i should just wait for S8 then XD

I would agree, I've seen major android updates in the past where its been like a step backwards and so it only leads to disappointment. Hopefully we are at a stage with android where this update (6 to 7) is more of a polishing of the current OS. Yes I know there are some additional features but its not a major overhaul as we've had in the past. I think most people would mostly appreciate some better consistency with battery life, Im not saying mine isnt good but there still seems to be a high android OS usage,so hopefully the enhanced doze feature tackles this, but we'll see. The one benefit of not getting the update right now is that over the next few months hopefully a lot of issues will be ironed out, for instance app compatibility. There are almost always cases where "I've just upgraded but now XXXX app doesnt work??" and you have to wait for the dev to update so their app so that it works nicely with the latest release.

Some of the Android N features are already in the S7. Multi window for example. Or Android for Work which overlaps with Knox. Other stuff is nice but only for new devices, like the seamless updates. The new JIT may be an exception, and the new graphics subsystem would also be nice.
About the VR stuff: I double Samsung will enable it for the Gear VR but we can of course hope.

Expect to have android N next year around April or May

Where Android 4.4 kitkat for our devices (GT-P3100, GT-P3110, GT-P5100, GT-P5110)?

Cyanongen mod kitkat-isn't made, 5 day and any nightly build, the AOKP same, Paranoid 4 for Nexus is, and for us too most isn't present), Slim for nexus too is, for us isn't present, Pac rom too for us isn't present. It is asked, and whether generally there will be Kitkat? Really never android 4.4 Kitkat on our device will be or it is possible to go on Ebay and to sell it for 20-50 dollars, all the same it it is necessary to nobody, and then to take the credit?
If I understand you correctly, you're asking if kitkat will come to the galaxy tab or if you should sell it. Pac - rom developers on this forum have stated that they are working on porting 4.4,but they said it will take some time.

Yes.
Whether it is worth waiting 1-2 weeks of the first build or directly to sell and buy that doesn't take a steam bath and not to wait for years of new Android versions from "unoffical teams"?

You are just a two post old and you are behaving like you have installed all the updates.
Though that is not of concern here. Its patience. Keep faith in these unofficial team as they do lot more better job than any official at Samsung or for that matter any other company. I am sure very soon there will be some great dev who will port the 4.4 for our beloved tab 2. Though if you are in hurry sell your tab 2 and buy the nexus 7.

And that, already bothered to wait sitting on ICS the new Android version - kitkat (Key Lime Pie in due time), as ICS is already obsolete, and on glyuchny, slowly semi-operating as JB to sit of desire isn't present. And here, again to wait 5.0? ICS already threw, and to put glyukavy, slowly, полуработающй, even with curve animation of JB of desire isn't present. Already ICS everywhere press, and KitKat on which I возглал all hopes on the fact that at least time I will see Rom working normally suddenly are postponed? What horror, how many still to wait for normal Kitkat on which at least it will be possible to sit normally the long time?

Yes, I use PROMT Translator, as not the Englishman, and Russian. The Russian alcoholics (of which in the country of 95%) don't want to do Kitkat for Tab. And especially disappointed foreign, I thought though - any hope of them though I will deliver Kitkat and I will breathe sigh of relief. No. And they throw.
I have NO IDEA what you are saying.
But, if you want Kitkat, WAIT. It will come eventually.
If you don't want to wait, sell your Tab. Get Nexus 7.

Feller121 - It seems like you are here only for bashing the devs. This kind of attitude does not help the community as everyone here is creating custom roms as pastime and not expecting anything in return. Wait dude, you will not be disappointed.
But the odd thing is:We appearently have excellent devs, but as many news about 4.4 kitkat releases for xperia z,moto x,galaxy nexus,i am beginning to question that.People have lives, yes. And if someone could make a simple way to make our pcs build latest releases for us over sources, instead of the "simple" build guides that have over 50 steps and things needed to make the building work.It would take me 3 months to learn all of that...
I guess if nexus 10 didnt get 4.4,our tablets will have to wait for a long time

What are the odds we get a 6.0 ROM soon?

Since it's being released in a couple days, is it possible we will get the source code to build for OnePlus?
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
it is possible, but i don't know what will happened
From the official sources, no clue. From ROM devs, I'd say give it a month once source code drops. Cyanogenmod already built for this device, I mean look at the back of the phone, so I'm sure they will support us for at least 2 more android versions. My very first android phone the Droid Incredible came out in 2010 and for rom support from devs all the way up to 4.4.4, so I'd say pretty dang high from rom devs. Helps also that we have a simple bootloader unlock, which makes devs even more inclined to work on the device. Based on my past device experience, we'll get at least 3 more major versions, 6.0 included, maybe more. By then, your battery will be useless, and you'll have moved on, which is awesome.

CM are only obligated to support this device until April next year, so Marshmallow will be the last official version we get. They're contracted for 24 months from the time of release and they'll drop this device like a hot potato the first chance they get.

While I'd like to agree with you, that's in regards to business, we will see 6.0 for that reason alone. I was more referring to the fact that we still see updates on the nexus 4 up to 5.1 and the fact that open popular devices seem to get much longer support. Wasn't trying to disagree with you at all in that respect. I'm not that likes to hang onto their old devices, or sell them to friends, so I have seen how amazing that support can be even for older devices. My TF101 tablet is still rocking, and running 5.1.1 it's smoother than it's ever been. Don't think that'll see 6.0, but I didn't expect it to make it to 5.0. It all comes down to "We'll see how long it gets supported, but don't demand anything past 6.0" even though historically, we should get 3 more major versions if it follows most devices paths when it comes to rom support. That boing said, I'll be flashing 6.0 as soon as we get a rom that can multiboot!

There's no doubt we'll see the next version after Marshmallow on this phone, but I can guarantee you it won't be in the form of official updates via Cyanogen Inc, it'll be in the form of community developed ROMs via CyanogenMod. If you meant CyanogenMod and not Cyanogen Inc then I misunderstood you.
I just meant Roms in general

Sounds good to me! We have great devs here! Hopefully they don't leave for the Nexus phones, they really aren't worth the $ in my opinion. 808 and 810 have too many problems. I got the Moto X Pure and had that for 2 weeks and even the 808 had terrible heating issues. This years chipsets by Qualcomm are just terrible. Not to mention even now, 3 weeks in they have no dev support and Motorola (now Lenovo) is very shady company.

Moto E: cheap budget phone that I think people only bought as a placeholder when they broke a phone or something else happened, it's not a flagship. nobody bought it to use for 2+ years and I don't think it was intended as such.
Moto x: did you see that the pure is getting updated? That means it was the carriers decision, not Motorola's. Also, it's easy to convert the att/Verizon version to the pure version and then you'll get the update fine.

As soon as Lenovo brought out Pure they let go about 500 Motorola employees, many who were in the dev department... They are giving people hard times about returns saying it will take 6-8 weeks to get their money back on an overnight return label. The pure QC is piss poor, if you go to their forums, their most popular thread is about returning the phone... This clearly isn't the same Motorola we used to love. I'm not big on OnePlus either, I only came back here, because at least I know my OnePlus works, I'll never buy from them again though, that's for sure.

The probability is high that we'll get a taste (not likely daily driver level sweet mind you) of Marshmallow by tomorrow:

New Vulkan API on Exynos 7420

Hello everybody, I don't know if you all are familiar with this new API, it seems like is very promising and I have read that it will bring mobile gaming to a new level. Look for more info on google, its pretty interesting.
Now, the Galaxy S7 is the first phone that will come with this API, my question is, do you think that our phone will support it? For now we have OpenGL ES and Vulkan is gonna be way faster, hopefully will get this, since is just a software update. What you guys think?
So, no body interesting in this matter?
This place is always pretty dead...
I have the new Marshmallow update on my Nvidia Shield TV which has the new Vulkan API. I have not had a chance yet to try a game that utilizes the API but from what I read on the topic, it makes a big difference less processing power required, higher frame-rates, etc. There's a few examples of the API in use on YouTube also that show some side by sides.
According to this article, these are the current games that support the API with Marshmallow. "Real Racing 3, Oddworld Munch’s Oddysee, Minecraft Story Mode, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories."
So, now that we have marshmallow, is there any way to get Vulkan on pur phones? Anybody?

Most likely not. Samsung, I doubt, will be issuing any more updates to this phone that aren't simply minor incremental updates or security patches. I don't believe a developer can make this into a stock rom as well but I could be wrong.
On the extreme side of things, from what I have read, N will is being built with Vulkan in mind or at least to a degree. It might be easier to add it then to a phone on N if the manufacturer doesn't include the API.
I wish I was wrong but given Samsung's track record and how long it took for MM to come, N is going to be a Note 6 and up deal.
Now if we had a viable aosp rom then I would say it's possible but that definately won't happen anytime soon or likely ever.

Aosp COULD happen...RaymanFX has been working on porting cm13 to our device and there's currently folks looking to get him a exynos 7420 dev device in a fundraiser thread that has quite a few donations, and about 2 days ago (maybe 3?) he just merged the pd1 source, if you follow his github, you can maybe decider a little more effectively than myself just how close he is to a booting compile...

CM has always had issues, even using Qualcomm SoCs that have the developer documentation behind them that the Exynos does not. I doubt there will ever be a stable CM or any other AOSP build. Stable enough for daily use, maybe, but things will always be broken.

March and Still no Marshmallow update...

Its been said that marshmallow should be releases in march....hoping samsung deliver delivers this time
It's never coming. Just buy a Nexus 6p or gs7.
A GS7 will have the same issue for the next update. It's just how it goes. Only a Nexus phone will ever have the latest OS when it's out.
I try to focus on what I want out of a phone as it is when I buy it and go into it knowing that's how it'll be until my next phone and it makes for being a happier Android owner.
Also, phones that have a Snapdragon proc will usually have more of an active ROM community. From what I've read on the SG7, they're shipping with a mix of Exynos and Snapdragon processors, so even that is a gamble.
My village shamen said Marshmallow is a state of being, and once you find your spiritual center, you will find Marshmallow. Namaste

Hahahahah!. You just won the internet, sir. Greatest comment I've read on anything in a long time.
You could always tweet John Legere saying how un-uncarrier it is that Verizon came out with the MM update for the Note 5 before T-Mo did.
Hey Guys,
Let's all take a chill pill and relax. We're all disappointed that Marshmallow isn't out yet but going after each other isn't going to get it here any faster.
We are all here for the same thing and are part of a community that wants the same thing. If we're tired of waiting for Samsung and T-Mobile to do it why don't we take matters into our own hands? Somebody see if they can port the Verizon build to T-Mobile, build a Cyanogen or AOKP based ROM, etc. You can learn something from it and help the community!
Now let's keep it civil here or this thread and others like it will be closed.
Thanks!

That's just an update to the backup and restore manager for galaxy apps. That's not a firmware update.

Relax everyone! Hopefully with the release of the update on Verizon, we are not far behind! I never unsterstand it, a new Android firmware is released, and evryone goes crazy saying they got to have it, and honestly for me, when we finally do receive it, it wasn't really worth all the hype. Well at least not for me sometimes

It's almost never worth the hype on skinned phones. Especially when you look at the number of features already added to skinned phones.
I underta de what you say that is not su such a big deal.....butt the thing is samsung is always careless....t theyre always releasing late updates.....thats whats really disappointing.....we all Know that samsung owes devs most igual not all is prestige for the fact that the only reason we liked samsung its because all the roms and features we can do withh a rooted phone

What non nexus/moto OEM doesn't release late updates? Also what constitutes late if you were never given a tentative date? If Samsung never said you will get the update on this date how can you hold them responsible?
Yeah it would be nice but no one promised a time frame and if you keep buying their devices you are telling them whatever they are doing they are doing right.

I agree with above statement. Did someone personally say the date it will be released? Also as said in nauseum what do you people expect from these updates and if updates are your life having a Samsung is not the way to go. After its all said and done you barely notice any changes anyway. Again I am not saying anything you have not heard or read prior.
Take a look at the T-Mobile site to see the progress of the Marshmallow update.

^^^
It shows its still under manufacturer testing, so we're right where we started.

What a joke, let's look forward to Android N in 2018

No more Montly Security Updates for the S8/S8+

Samsung has moved the S8/S8+ from Montly Security Updates to Quartaly Security Updates today. That means, our phones will only be patched every four months and not regulary.
Source: https://security.samsungmobile.com/workScope.smsb
As you might already know, I only expect the S8/S8+ to be supported till early 2021. After that, it sadly reaches it's end of life, 4 yeara after it's release
Bad news...
Everyone knew it was coming happens every device since day 1. This is not new news. If Samsung had there way end of life would be on release day.
Been keeping an eye out for S10 sales, since that seems to be the last Samsung phone that will keep the headphone jack, but I had been holding off because my S8+ was still getting updates.
Looks like I better up the priority on that.
Need help or suggestions
Ok I am that that GUY! I switched from AT&T to TMobile and want AT&T gone off my phone. I have to reinstall pie anyways, but figured I would go all out now that I can and opportunity presented itself. Need help getting started. Is it worth rooting vs just hiding the ATT Bloatware? I want my phone to be updated also. I am not getting the over the air updates is other reason I want to reinstall or root.
