[Q] Omitting apps from CM Source Build, question.. - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A few months back i built CM 10 (4.1.2) Wingray from source.
What id like to do now is omit/remove a couple of the apps from the build, like..
Apollo
CM File Manager
CM Wallpapers
Video Editor
I know i can just remove the apps from the ZIP after the build completes, but would like to compile and build without the apps.
My question is this..
What files (and where are they) do i need to edit to remove the above mentioned apps from the build process?
any help, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

videoeditor in
/vendor/cm/config/common_full.mk
Filemanager & Wallpaper & Apollo in
/vendor/cm/config/common.mk
just remove the lines

[GUIDE] AOSP Gallery with Picasa support

ABOUT
One of the biggest things I missed about the TouchWiz gallery was Picasa support.
I'm putting this little guide together basically to save a few headaches. Took me a while to figure out what I needed.
INSTRUCTIONS
Download CyanogenMod 6 Do not download any version of 7! The gesturelistener code is different and makes the gallery crash!
I used the Droid Incredible file HERE
Use Winzip or 7zip to extract the ROM
Go to /system/app and copy Gallery3D.apk to your SDCard
Use your favorite file manager and run the Gallery3D.apk and let it install
Once installed, you'll have 2 gallery apps showing in your app drawer. The new one should be listed second.
When you first run it, you will be asked to give it permission to sync to Picasa!
NOTES
Confirmed working on CyanogenMod 10 Official Nightlies
This should work on any AOSP rom. Let me know if it does/doesn't and I'll update the OP.
All credit goes to the CyanogenMod Team
You can also purchase Gallery Pro for a couple bucks.
Gallery Pro on Google Market
Thanks for the workaround. It works fine. However, if you have more than one google account attached to your phone and want only one of them to sync picasa, the gallery app will ask permission to sync picasa from the other accounts each time you launch the app. A lil bit of an inconvenience but not a major deal breaker. Just throwing this out there.

Allow it to sync to that account, then go to settings -> accounts and uncheck it on the account. It won't ask again.

[Q] Failed to trim [ROM][4.1.2][CM10][UNOFFICIAL]LG Optimus One Family CM10 Build 7

Hi,
I have rooted my P500 since Froyo until to Gingerbread. I also helped my friend to root and install JB 4.2 on his Kindle Fire. Now I try to install JB 4.2 in my P500 using Rashed97 build 7 custom ROM but to all failure :crying:
The error was always failed to go into Google Play, there will be an error [RH-01]. After some investigation I found out that this is due to the Google Service Framework was never successfully install and run normally.
I am using this combination:
JB 4.2 ROM - cm-10-20130108-UNOFFICIAL-p500.zip
GAPPS - gapps-jb-4.2.1-light-20130107-signed.zip
I read hundreds of post in that thread and everyone is teaching about trimming the ROM before installing the GAPPS. So I tried to trim it both manually and using the OOne Rom editor. (Moving some apps as User Apps, using trimmed version LatinMe.apk, removing fonts, media, and etc) No luck as well; Google Service Framework just don't want to run According to the internal memory, I should still have 20MB++ of free space and I also check the /system/app and googleserviceframework.apk was in there. When I go to the "Settings -> Apps -> All" to find Google Service Framework but never found, it wasn't running at all even though it is in the system/app.
I try to see if I trim it correctly, so I try JB 4.1 combination:
JB 4.1 ROM - cm-10-20121110-UNOFFICIAL-p500.zip
GAPPS - gapps-jb-4.1.2-light-20121130-signed.zip
This time I use the Bill's tool, OOne Rom Editor, to trim it and try installing it... guess what, it works! Google Service Framework manage to run... So I am confused... Is it me or something else did I missed out in trimming the JB 4.2 Rom?
Anyone manage to make it happen? Can give some guidance?
Thanks
Silly me...
I think I know what is the problem already... Build 7 is CM 10 JB 4.1.2, it is not JB 4.2
Installing GAPPS for version JB 4.2 definitely not going to work... Stupid me... :silly:
After trying to install the GAPPS for JB 4.1. It works fine now :good:

Replace downloadproviderui and downloadprovider apk on a stock rom

Hello I had a question about replacing the download manager on the stock samsung rom with the one from cyanogenmod in an effort to use stock apps. I am indeed rooted, and I have copied both files from priv-app and app directories to their designated locations and also set their permissions to rw-r-r. However, unlike other apps i've installed just fine using this method such as lockclock and gallery, these apps dont appear to be installed after doing this. Are their other dependencies I might be missing that are preventing this from working?
I am on the 4.4.2 stock samsung rom and I am trying to use apps from the m7 cm 11 build based on 4.4.2 as well.
bumping my own thread, if its a simple no you cant no biggie XD

Flash PA GApps. They will replace most stock apps. Plus the installer is configurable so you can customize as you like.

Issues on Cyanogenmod 13

So, anyway, I just installed Cyanogenmod 13, which is amazing, BTW. Thanks to @Android-Andi. Also Happy New Year to you. I have a few concerns and issues. Before I start, I would like to say that I installed this ROM with the following modifications:
1) Xposed
2) PurePerformance X
3) Kernel Aduitor
4) L Speed
5) Dhollmen Kernel
6) SuperSU
7) BusyBox
8) ViperFX [NOT V4A MK MOD]
Issues:
1) After installing Dhollmen Kernel, the lockscreen seems to be stuck in landscape mode. It's not a very big issue and I can live with it, but I would like some fix if possible.
2) IRS files won't show up in the Convolver section of the settings in ViperFX. The ViperFX folder doesn't even show up in the Cyanogenmod File Manager. I even tried creating the folder manually. Doesn't work.
3) The official Facebook app won't work. It starts, lags a whole lot, and then crashes. Is Facebook really that harsh on our tablets? Am using Facebook Lite for now.
4) And finally, this is the issue that kills it for me and I will have to change my ROM if this doesn't get fixed. MOBILE DATA IS NOT WORKING FOR ME. I am getting a signal and when I switch on mobile data, nothing comes beside the icon on the status bar. No 'E' or 'H' or 'H+' or '3G'. Nothing.
I would really appreciate anyone who helps with any of these issues, especially the last one.
Happy New Year to everyone on XDA.
