[Q] [A700] Bad performance on all ROMs, apparently only 1 core used most of the time - Acer Iconia A700 and A510

Hey there,
so i have been trying to get my girlfriends A700 on a modern version of Android, but so far stuff like Omni ROM or Pacman ROM had REALLY bad performance. I'm talking about 7-12 fps in the launcher and most other apps, which to me is unbearable. Today i was experimenting with kernel settings, and for this activated the CPU usage overlay.
It showed that 90% of the time only CPU0 is used and all other cores are deactivated and idle. I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour, but in combination with the choppy performance it's kind of suspicious to me.
So basically i have 2 questions:
1) Are all the Android 4.2 and up custom ROMs just really slow, or is there something wrong on my gfs device?
2) Should the device be running on one core all the time?

Mine is quite laggy too (currently on PAC rom).
Did a couple of updates via Google Play Store today and had a look at the CPU overlay. All 4 cores showed up to 1,25 GHz.
No idea how to check the fps though.

Seems to be a nice idea. But could you elaborate as on why the text is bold and you had to use capslock for 1/2 of it!?
@slind ok i fixed the post. i will be posting links to the posts who are great battery savers without loosing performance
So basically, we use an I9500 like an Ace or a Grand to get rid of heating and battery drains.. Andyou suggest that it won't result in performance loss. I'd suggest playing games that are more graphically intensive and not just Temple Run.. Try copying data from one memory card to another, or simply try running a Full HD Video. Also, check out web browsing or maybe multitasking, and you'll see where the performance dies out.
I think the fix should come in the upcoming releases of stock firmware by Samsung. By turning off a couple of cores, you're only going back a couple of years. I don't think I upgraded from the S3 to S4 for that reason.

everyone has there preferences and there needs in a phone. and there own settings. and this is a Battery discussion thread. we will be doing many performance and voltage mods, so everyone could choose the settings that suits them. now please dont post aggressive post like that, im not stupid. i know that my settings are very low.
but for my most played games and most used apps. it doesnt seem to effect my performance, so im comfortable with my settings
i had the phone for 2 weeks, happily showing off battery performance and then i asked myself again, why the heck i bought this phone in the first place? BECAUSE IT HAS REPLACABLE BATTERY!.. LOL.. how silly i am trying to squeeze that little drop of power out of the battery when I can double the battery just by getting another spare.
no need to turn off anything, no need to drop performance or screen brightness.. just pure enjoyment of the full potential without worrying battery problem.. just get a spare.

I didn't mean to be aggresive and sorry if you felt like that. All I mean is, there is a limit to which you can undervolt/underclock your phone without losing the functionality or speed. While underclocking to 1.0 ghz or 1.2 ghz sounds kinda normal, going all the way down to 800 Mhz and that too only on two cores is like running Galaxy Ace Dual Core instead. Why would I want to spoil my S4 for it?
That is all that I meant. And the phone is normally shelling out a good day's use in normal usage. Why bother so much about battery really???
My S4 i9505 came with MDE ROM from the factory, apart from doing dirty flashes over dirty flashes, finally someone came up with a recovery which is working. So i've :
1. Formatted system , cache , dalvik
2. Loaded in Djembey's stock slim deodexed ME2 ROM.
3. Using PimpMyROM, did some moderately less aggressive tweaks.
4. Capped the Max frequency at 1674MHz. Interactive gov, Noop sched.
5. Fully charged and unplugged.
6. Fully on 3G . Gmail sync for calendars, contacts, mail, keep, notes. Moderately heavy on Gtalk and Whatsapp. Browsing news and websites.
Observed 4 hours screen time.
Almost 15 hours of total usage + standby (This doesn't mean much, screen time depicts usage time more)
The phone still feels warmer than S2, under operation.
I've yet to try faux kernel yet, but i doubt it would get much better than this. The physical limit i feel is on the CPU, HD AMOLEDs, and the modem itself under normal usage.
Feel free to comment.
Hi,
hope you may be able to help. I have been trying almost everthing to increase the music volume as the s4 does not drive my senheiser headphones as well I would like. Is it possible to increase the gain through a kernel mod somehow?
Wow you're really random. This thread isn't even remotely discussing about the issue you raised.
Try the omega ROM thread, see if the functionality list includes volume hack.

[Solved] Performance Issues (S4 Unrooted Stock JB)

Edit: Problem solved. See next post.
Hi
I recently replaced my first HTC One S (S4 Black, broken) with a new one (S4 Grey). Both were/are running HTCs stock JB unrooted. However, on the new phone I've been having some severe performance issues lately.
The phone is very, very slow (at times), for example when I unlock it the screen might take several seconds to light up (the image is displayed, but no backlight), and the pin input keyboard is very, very unresponsive - some times I can input the entire pin code before the phone seems to register the input, other times a number or two is even skipped/not registered. Opening apps ad running games is also slower than it has been, animations lag frequently (opening/closing the notification drawer, for example), and text input is also laggy. Battery life is also noticeably worse than on my old phone.
My Antutu scores as of now fluctuate between 6700 and 7700, which seems extremely low for this device (shouldn't I be scoring ~10000+?). In fact, in a few tests it scores lower than my old Sensation (on my highest scoring run today, CPU Integer and RAM were both significantly lower than the Sensation, at 599 and 939 respectively (vs. 966 and 1411). On my lowest scoring runs I only scored about 500 points higher than the Sensation (even though it's heavily OCd, that's still crazy).
I tried running the Antutu Stability test, but that didn't tell me anything useful - the top graph fluctuates between ~54 and ~46, and the temperature never got higher than 34 degrees. According to Lookout Mobile Security, there's no malware or anything like that on the phone.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Do I really have to root the phone and install a custom ROM to make it perform as it should?
Okay, never mind, I figured it out - clearing cache and data for Google Maps of all things solved this (I'd tried killing the processes and services before, to no avail). Maps was running two processes and two services and consuming a horrible amount of memory and CPU resources. My last Antutu run scored 10800, so everything's back to normal. A lesson learned, I guess.

Can somebody explain what I have observed?

Hi fellow S6 users! It seems like that I can only get great 3d gaming performance on marshmallow by flashing space x kernel. Hacker, nog33k, twisted and even arter kernel lags on 3d games such as real racing 3 and modern combat versus.
Even at the same cpu and gpu frequency, all of those custom and even stock kernel lags on gaming but not while on space x kernel.
I have also observed that smooth gaming experience can also be found in ressurection remix by @macs18max. FWIW, Lineage os by team nexus on the other hand, is very choppy in 3d games.
Can somebody explain why is this so?
(Please do note that all of my tests were done after allowing the device to cool down so we can cross out thermal throttling here)
Very obvious answer. Samsung makes their devices slower purposly just to make you buy the next gen even tho the old models are more than enough capable. You only can overclock the GPU with Kernel Auditor or app of this kind. Also you can "Turn on 4x MSAA" option i develower options menu.

Planned obsolescense seems to be the right answer I'm afraid. But the thing is that why can spaceX kernel be smooth in gaming at stock clocks mind you as to compare to other custom kernels which lags horrendously in gaming whatever the clockspeed you set the gpu or cpu. This laggy behavior in games can also be observed in stock kernel of marshmallow or nougat. It seems like the only exception (aside from marshmallow with spaceX kernel) is Resurrection Remix Rom by @macs18max which have excellent gaming performance!
Search logcats in the system buffer with
"SIOP_ARM_MAX"
"limitGPUFreq"
"limitCPUFreq"
after the phone slows down.
Is this it? SIOP_ARM_MAX as the reason looks more like power saving (low frequency, exits slowly after cooling).
First could be filtered with logcat -b system -s CustomFrequencyManagerService, others are random letters.
Search /system/framework/oat/arm/services.odex , might have a list of package names that are throttled differently.
Edit: could be about power saving, or people complaining that the device is hot or warm, or to try to prevent USB failure, or to try to prevent eMMC failure, or to try to prevent battery failure. Maybe not planned obsolescence because it's on the S8 too (but the hardware is better).

Antutu scores

Hi everyone, not sure if the subject has been discussed before or not. I tested my E6653 variant of the Z5 today on Antutu and was rather shocked at what i scored. Now i know Antutu scores arent a true reflection as scores are variable depending on device temp, apps running etc etc. But i am still at a loss becaurge the best my device scored was 78000. That is a whole 20000 lower than what Antutu says the average score is for the Z5.
My device is unlocked and rooted. Im currently running it on Mrom v2.4.8 with the default kernel for the rom. I have played around with the kernel settings by changing governors etc but with no better than the 78000 i scored. My question is,how do i get a better performing device without sacrificing any to little battery efficiency in the process? Does anyone maybe have any insight into this as i feel my phone greatly underperforming with the current setup.
Not sure if it's relevant, but my Z5C (7.11 stock rooted with Magisk) managed to score 95K in latest Aututu:
CPU: 31886
GPU: 35768
UX: 21834
MEM: 5176

Mods I installed to help improve performance:
Green Kernel (For Z5C exclusively, pretty sure there is alternative around this forum)
FSC V5.1 (Very balanced thermal mod)
Brevent app (Eliminate bloated background processes)
Manually debloated (A must for stock rom, using settings app and SD Maid)
Note that 720p and 2GB RAM may effect my final scores, take them respectively. It normally hits 5hrs+ screen on time with moderate usage however I don't play games on my device, and overall it's quite responsive considering the SD810 except for multitasking.
I never liked MRom for how bloated it is at first installation with many underlay modifications that fail to meet my sony experience expectation. When in the worst cast scenario tho, there are always options to downgrade to 6.0 or custom roms.

Question CPU core going offline!

Hello I have Poco x3 pro global version. I rooted my device and installed Kernel manager and there I saw CPU core control and I made some core offline and online again just randomly to check the performance difference. But there is an issue I am facing is when my device getting a little bit of heat the core 1(Little) and core 5(Big) getting offline. I used to check the CPU cores. After using Kernel manager for 6-7 days I had never seen any of the cores going offline. But recently I am facing the problem. So I thought it might be a Kernel or the app problem. So by not taking any risk I flashed stock miui 12.0.6 firmware and rooted it checked it again and the cores are still going offline no other cores only core 1 and core 5. Then I installed miui 12.5.9 eu and checked it out it still going offline. I know that CPU cores are online by default and when It gets hot it gears down the frequency but making cores offline Is a new experience. Did i gave a path to CPU to act abnormal by making some cores offline and online. Ohh when the they are getting offline significant amount of lag is being seen. Apps opening speed is pretty slow frame dropping in animations when opening apps. When my phone was not rooted I did face lag when heated up but not this much. Is it normal? Am I overseeing the fact. Please let me know I am
im also facing this problem, 1little and 1big core goes offline while gaming (ragnarok m)
using latest fkm on a crdroid 9.0,
i use this mainly to disable the sh*tty prime core....
any solution to this mate?
