lost internal storage android 5 - General Questions and Answers

Hello
Today i installed android 5 on my GT-i9195. Everything is ok but my total internal storage is not 8 GB anymore . Instead it shows 5,4 GB total internal storage. i Followed all steps in the topic.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../rom-cyanogenmod-12-0-s4-mini-3g-lte-t2946176
So after a clean install with some apps i have only 800 Mb left. Is this normal ?

Its because your backups is on the phone storage. I did a factory reset from the os. Now i have 4,7 GB free with gapps and about 12 user apps installed. Btw i am running cm.
Dont forget to BACKUP to sd card if you not "starting over".

If youre backing up with cwm you should choose /storage/sdcard
If you choose /sdcard its a partition on the device storage.
I am pretty new to this. And dont "know it all" i just messed with the same thing yesterday night.

Thx man . Yes it was cwm backups.

This won't solve your problem for now but this is a better option than link2sd..
For now you can take all the backup using titanium backup if you want app data.. other wise you can simply copy the apk files from /data folder using root explore or similar app..
Then wipe your sd-ext partition in mount and storage option cwm recovery..
Wiping sd-ext will delete all the data present in ext partition..
Wipe cache partition too..
I guess stock rom doesn't init.d, you can just follow the above guide where there is a link for getting init.d support.. follow the steps then you can install scripts like mount2sd
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932874
Ungaze
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874121
or any other script..
Like int2ext
D2ext..
You may Google it and you'll get the script link..
You may even try new roms based on ice cream sandwich..

Hope it helped

[Q] weird internal storage issue

Hi guys,
I tried the CM 10 beta 6 build yesterday. I used INT2EXT+ by putting it into the rom zip. All went fine. When i flashed super stripped JB gapps zip, I got a bootloop. Nevertheless, I went into recovery (TWRP 2.4.1.0), removed the EXT partition, wiped everything down and reverted back to stock rom. However, I noticed, as soon as I booted it up, without setting up any accounts, I got only 65 MB of free internal storage whereas I usually get 112 MB. I can't figure out what's eating up the rest of it. I flashed CWM, wiped down everything, reset factory settings, reflashed the stock rom, still it shows up as 65 MB of free space. Any ideas on what might have gone wrong and / or any solutions to it ?
I would recommend you use either CM10 beta #5 or Mini CM10 without any script. This ROMs gives you around 150MB of internal storage without using any scripts plus the over all smoothness is awesome.Flash any of these ROMs and you won't face any memory problems.
And,how did you remove EXT partition? Make sure you remove it using your PC and card reader.
---------- Post added at 03:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:36 PM ----------
And if you really want more internal memory than just make a EXT partition flash any of the CM9 ROMs and than flash Mount2SD zip file (reboot twice)

In TWRP you can remove the EXT partition by going to Advanced -> partition SD Card -> set ext size to 0, swap to 0.
Anyway, what I'm concerned about is, I used a script to move things to the SD Card, the same script that works with AOKP JB RC3 by ayushrox.
But something went haywire yesterday, and the ROM kept telling me the SD card has been damaged, I formatted it via TWRP and removed the EXT partition, now the SD card is working fine, but the internal memory is getting eaten up even though I wiped EVERYTHING via CWM 5.0.2.8 as well.

well, that shouldn't matter, should it ? considering i wiped EVERYTHING from recovery. whatever was being stored on the internal memory should have been wiped as well. I am currently on the stock GB ROM and it is still showing 65 MB free whereas I used to get 112 MB free. It was fine if i was getting low internal on CM 10 because of the /data/dalvik-cache, but I'm on the stock ROM and it is still showing me half of what i used to get free. And even if a kernel was flashed as a part of the ROM flashing process, it should have been replaced by the default HTC kernel when I flashed the stock ROM.
Update : I wiped the dalvik with TWRP again, and it wiped 3 dalvik cache directories, /data/dalvik-cache, /cache/dalvik-cache and one other, how do i get rid of them and go back to the regular way of things ? Or are there always 3 dalvik directories ?

Don't know where the Apps2SD is coming from on the SD Card.
I have three apps installed right now, whatsapp, playerpro and es file explorer, of which playerpro and es have been moved to the SD Card. With all these three apps installed I used to get 88 MB free and now its showing 38.6 MB free. I'm missing 50 MB somewhere
There's your missing 68 MB.
I don't know what's that 60 MB, which is occupying there.
And ofcourse there's no file occupying that space..
Try installing more apps and try to fill up free space and let's see if the system data reduceS.

I installed Opera and picsart studio, now I got 1 MB internal storage free and a message popped up warning me of low internal storage. System Data keeps increasing.
EDIT : just rescanned in DiskUsage and now its showing 14.2 MB free. what the hell is going on ?! (I even got a popup on here telling me to wait 2 minutes between posts, so on rescanning within those two minutes, i got 14.2 mb of free space). I can't seem to upload another screen in edit mode. So I guess, you're right about your hunch - install more apps, the system data seems to be shrinking. Will install more and report back. But how do I get this back to normal ?
Update : tried installing facebook. A heavy app. adb gave me this - Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE] . So I guess, system data isnt shrinking anymore
Custom ROMs (CM9, 10, AOKP JB RC 3) show me the correct amount of available space somehow. The stock which I always relied on seems to fail in doing so suddenly.
No bro.. custom Roms also have this system data ,it is some kind of buffer to keep apps installed and I think it'll have some non specific keys, date, time etc.
But I guess something is wrong with your installation of apps.
How do you install apps and what memory script?

On a clean install, i use adb to install es file explorer then just transfer other apk files on to sd card and install using es.
Yesterday, i put INT2EXT+ into the CM10 build 6 zip and installed it. It worked fine, then when i flashed super stripped gapps, i got bootloop. So I said screw it, back to stock it is. And so far, it has worked for me. But as soon as I reverted back to stock yesterday, I found this internal storage problem. So I flashed AOKP JB RC3 by ayushrox and it showed me 97 mb free after installing gapps and didn't get a bootloop.:crying: By clean install, I mean, on flashing stock.

I would suggest mount2SD.
And try cm 10 b6 without overclocked kernel.
But still ..usually waiting a day would probably resolve this issue.
Don't use adb 2 ,install any app

this is a screenshot from DiskUsage on AOKP JB RC3 after installing gapps. without gapps, it takes up even less space obviously. So this problem seems to be only with the stock rom for some reason. I guess the INT2EXT+ and CM 10 mucked things up somehow which isnt letting stock function properly. I'm staying on this one as long as I can't figure out how to get the stock working properly. And I didn't even know there was an overclocked version of CM10 till today. I downloaded the build 6 from the first page. It didn't say anything about an overclocked kernel. Now the question is what got mucked up ?

OK. So any way back from that ? I read on the CM 10.1 forum that only overclock causes nand burn. All I did was flash the ROM. Never overclocked anything on my phone till date.
Update : on searching I found cute_prince's tutorial. Have followed that and have flashed stock. Let's see what happens. Fingers crossed.
Update : EPICNESS ! Thanks a ton DanceOff ! and cute_prince ! and also ptcpayme for all the prompt replies. I now have my original 112 MB free internal back.

how to make mem internal read as "sdcard" in moui rom for miro.....

please, anione tell me how to do it... cz my data in the storage cannot be load....
1. I don't know
2. Post in correct section
3. You should post this question in the rom thread.
4. Search
I think that is the same as cm10....
First go to system>etc (with root explorer/browser)
Second, open vold.fstab
And last do this:
Change sdcard0-sdcard1 to sdcard1-sdcard0

Use this app, its easier to use and you dont have to change any system files. This program binds directories so the phone thinks the data its on internal memory when theys are at the sdcard.
Very usefull and I recomend you need to have a rooted phone though.

Internal Storage Filled With "System Data"

Hi all-
My GS3 internal storage is filling up. When I check with DiskUsage, it says there's 7230 MiB of "System data" and only 1250 MiB of free space. It won't let me click onto the system data to investigate.
Using Storage Analyser, it says I have used 2.2 GiBs and 9.84 GiB is free. But when I click on the little circle chart menu at the bottom it says I only have 1.2 GiBs free. What gives? Which one is right? Will wiping via CWM and reflashing CM 10.2 help? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!
Do you have a lot of nandriod or Rom backups?

I only have this issue with the system/data folder filling up with duplicate apps. Seems like something just isn't quite right however. After I wipe everything and before I flash a rom I have 12gb available. Just checked and out of 16gb total I have 9.96gb still available. The backups shouldn't be on the internal but if by chance they are I would delete all if not most of them

You're simply having duplicate locations for media storage.
If you use a file Explorer, you'll notice the initial location of your files in data/media folder. Then if you click the 0 folder (data/media/0) you'll notice the exact same data is located there.
To get rid of it, you need to move everything you want to save off the phone, format the internal sd, reflash the rom, and move everything you backed up to the data/media/0 folder.
It switched when you moved from 4.1 to 4.3. It's actually reading the same data but twice. So you actually have a lot of space free, but your phone is reporting double the data.

I'm really sick of this problem. My phone is again alerting me that my internal storage is filling up, Disk Usage is showing system data of 7.266 GBs and 650 MB of free space. When going into the root folder "/system" it shows 10.36 GBs of free space. I figure its either getting read wrong of something.
Anyway, what would happen if I did "format /data" in CWM? Would I be able to boot back into my rom with a clean slate, or would I have to immediately flash a new ROM? Thanks.

You'd still be able to boot into the same rom. It might not clear it though, to do a full format you need to wipe /data/media.

[Q] Samsung N9106 (D101) - internal storage problem

Hi, I recently bought this china tablet - Samsung N9106. By seller´s specification it should have internal storage 32GB, and system showed this value at the beggining. But I performed factory reset and erased internal storage and 32GB has magicaly changed to 4.25GB. Is there any chance, that I unmounted internal storage somehow and only can´t mount it back? Or those 32GB was only fake - the same as with processor. In description is stated MT6582 - quadcore, but MTK Droid tool shows MK6572, which is dual core . I know its cheap no brand tablet, but If you guys think, that by erasing and resetting tablet I could do something wrong, that internal storage dissapeared or has changed to lower capacity, is there any chance I could fix it? Thanks for any help.
Need help
I have same specification and experience same thing my friend. I infect, bricked my phablet (10.1 inch Tablet + Phone). I am struggling same way and waiting for some help. I tried to reflash ROM but no luck.
Do you have complete flash ROM file that I can use?
How did you manage to install windows 10? Please let me know.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hello guys, I have experienced the same problem before.
Just erase the internal storage from the phone setting.
That is got to setting, storage, phone storage, erase phone storage.
