Browsers forcing Youtube app - General Questions and Answers

Both Firefox and Chrome load the Google Youtube app straight away when I click on a link to a youtube video, I want to be able to choose what app. I can't find Youtube or the browsers in "Default applications". I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. My friend also has the same phone but he gets promoted to choose which app to use. Help?

Maybe this app will help: hxxps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appiator.defaultappmanager

Thank you, Youtube is visible in the "ALL DEFAULTS" section but when I press clear it takes me to the youtube app in the built-in "App info" and "Clear defaults" is greyed out and it says "No defaults set"

Ok, now I saw that I had the same problem with youtube in nexus 6. Try to open that site with link to youtube in computer view in chrome.

Thanks, that works... Is there some option to make it do it in mobile view?

I don't know. I found this answer: hxxp://android.stackexchange.com/questions/37549/force-link-to-open-in-app-not-my-default-browser
So i think it It depends on the app.
EDIT: This is very annoying and I found another way you have to download add-on in firefox called: "Open Native App" and when you click the link to youtube firefox open it in m.youtube.com and now you can open navigation menu and choose the last option "Open in native app" I haven't any solution in chrome.

I don't know why but only some videos do it, if I Google "lorde youtube" the links are like they should be...

App Associations

Okay on my Rezound running an ICS leak, in the setting section under Apps there is a setting called App Associations.
And in this setting there is something called Web URLS, that lets you set the intent of clicking on web URLS to your browser of choice. Now this setting has the browsers that are installed as choices. But the major problem is that this setting now opens all YouTube links and Play store links with the browser, not the YouTube app or Play Store and doesn't give a choice in the matter.
My question is that is this limited to the Rezound? I don't have these setting choices on my Xoom, but that is running 4.0.0 and I haven't updated it in a while.
Also, how do I get the app to open links? Reseting the default in the app setting for the browser doesn't do anything, it seems as though App Associations takes over for that.
Anybody?
Am I going crazy>?
I don't know the specifics of your phone, but you might try a trick I've used with other apps on other phones (okay, with one app on one phone).
Start off by configuring it to use the youtube player (or whatever site-specific app you want) for web url's. Then launch a link that's not supported by youtube. If you're lucky, it'll come up with a prompt saying 'that's not supported, what app do you want to use instead?'. At that prompt, you'd select the app you want to use for non youtube pages.
Disclaimer: I'm a noob myself with smartphones/tablets, so all of my advice is nothing more than logic-guided guesswork.

Userscript for revealing entire installed app history on the Play Store.

As of this post, in the Google Play Store, if you're looking at your installed app history, you're limited to a twenty page/180 app view.
I made a simple Greasemonkey userscript that reveals your entire installed app history in the "My Android Apps" of the Google Play Store, which can be easily viewed in a scrollable box.
If you're interested, here are some instructions...
FIREFOX USERS:
Make sure you have the Greasemonkey Addon (link) installed.
Go to Userstyles.org (click this link) and install the script.
After that, you can go to the Play Store, and from the "My Android Apps" section, your entire app history should be navigable from a scroll box under "Other apps in my library".
CHROME USERS:
Chrome can no longer automatically install userscripts. You either have to install them manually or the script must be on the Chrome store.
To install manually...
Go to Userstyles.org (click this link) and download the script.
Paste this url into your Chrome browser: chrome://chrome/extensions/
Now drag and drop the userscript you downloaded into your Chrome browser. The script should install.
After that, you can go to the Play Store, and from the "My Android Apps" section, your entire app history should be navigable from a scroll box under "Other apps in my library".

wouldnt the "clear defaults" function in app manager help?
You go to app manager, choose the default programs that open the chosen links etc and press "clear defaults"
After months I finally found a work around for the HTC app association that is a result of the Apple lawsuit.
As you know HTClinkify caused YouTube Links on FB and the web to open in a browser instead of the app.
I downloaded Android Browser from Play Store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.android.browser
Then went settings>app associations>internet changed it to new Android browser. Also make sure YouTube links are set to YouTube app.
Now when on FB and click a YouTube link it goes to the app. Same thing when I search a YouTube video on Google.
I'm on stock JB 4.1.1 rooted. Let me know if this works for anyone else.

App Bug Can not login anymore: Honor Store blank page?

Hi!
I own an old Honor 8 Pro (with latest official firmware) and I installed and used the XDA app several months ago. Today, reopening it, the app had "lost" the login credentials, but I was unable to log in again.
So I cleared the cache, cleared the app memory, uninstalled and reinstalled, but I haven't solved the problem: when I click on the login button, a blank page appears . The blank page (I see it from the task manager) is from the Honor Store!
How can I solve?

Which version is installed?
long press on app icon
select app info
advanced
at the bottom should be Version 2.15.38
Edit
If it's like 1.1.6 it's the old version that was discontinued in Dec 2020

The app requires signing in with a browser, try changing the default browser, and wiping "Open by default" in any browsers installed.

Mmm, I don't know if is an Emui problem...
The default browser seems to be Chrome in Setting-Apps-Default apps-Browser.
If I change to Firefox nothing change: XDA app seems to access to the web opening the Honor Store.
Don't know exactly what do you mean with "wiping "Opn by default" in any browser installed": I never set this option in any of my 3 browser installed (Chrome, Firefox, DuckDuckGo).

I found nothing to clear (the button was greyed out), but I have disabled the Honor store in opening web sites and finally the XDA app was able to open the default browser.
Many thanks to both for help and patience.

Which browsers support background play for Youtube when it is in the background?
Except: Bromite, Uc, X, Brave.

I use Firefox for this, but you can probably do the same thing with other browsers.
Install Firefox(or other browser). Open it, go to YouTube page, tap the browser's menu button then choose the "desktop site" setting, find your video you want to play, play it then go to home or whatever app you want to use, it should continue to play in the background, it will even continue to play with the screen off.

It works just fine for me, I haven't found any pages that don't work this way. The key is using the "desktop site" setting and making sure every page loads in "desktop site" format.
You could also do a Google search for:
"Play youtube in background on android"
That will give you links to a variety of ways to achieve this.

I use via and couldt do it. (Also for youtube).
And the other thing; I am looking for a browser 'cause the desktop mode is not completely solution.
While listening to something, I often open another tab and look at something else.
Now; I can do it only on Brave (I am not sure, maybe Bromite too). But but it consumes more battery and ram.
My Eng is not good. I hope İ can tell what I want to tell.
Thank you.
