OnePlus One (Chinese Version) - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Bought a OnePlus One (Chinese version) from a guy locally and he said it wouldn't work on Mobilicity/Wind Mobile (Toronto, Canada). I have a Fido SIM so when I went to buy it, I tested it and it worked fine for maybe 30 mins. Since then I'm pretty much holding onto a paperweight because I have no reception and for some reason it wouldn't update itself to XNPH25R, which it downloaded on its own. I've gone through MANY forums and read up information but regardless whatever I try, it just doesn't work. The update fails. I've tried downloading the latest software from Cyanogen's website (cm-11.0-XNPH44S-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip) but this installation fails as well.
When I try to update using the OTA (XNPH25R) I get the following error message:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/VoicePlus.apk","84a9a87*******************")
E:Error in /cache/cm-bacon-03d77315ea-to-d22b777afa-signed.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
At the top I have the following options:
reboot system now
apply update
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe media
When I try to update using the latest software from Cyanogen, I get the following error:
- - Install /data/media/0/download
Finding update package...
opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:footer is wrong
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

You don't need to install a custom ROM, you just need to go to this thread and follow the instructions there, you should have no issues getting that to work.

The method you linked to is much more complicated than the automated method I linked to, it's probably a bit much for a beginner. And anyway, he already mentioned he tried the fastboot images and it didn't work.

Thank you for your help. I'll give it a try and let you guys know.

This might sound like a stupid question but setting the phone back to original setting does that fix the no signal issue or phone not updating itself issue? I'm hoping that'll fix both.

Idk, I flashed through a custom recovery. You could get a custom recovery image then fastboot boot recovery recovery.img. Where recovery.img is the custom recovery image

It should give you an error as to why it's aborting. Post that and we can help.

I think you should be getting the 4.2.2 update OTA soon, or you should have it already. I side loaded mine on a Mac too, but it worked flawlessly.
Do you have android debugging turned on?
Plug it into your computer and a message should come up on your phone, asking it to remember the key or something. Click allow. I don't know if that will make a difference but its worth a try

Lenovo A850 OTA Firmware s126 22 02 2014
I just got the Lenovo A850. The first thing it wanted to do is download the OTA Firmware update. It failed!
Nick 2014 did the phone just keep asking if you want to update to the latest firmware every once and a while without doing anything? Do you know where the update is downloaded to?
Coolosal, did you have to do anything special for it to work OTA?
Is there a way to force the update because an update available does not show up in "about device".

You can find the archive "update.zip" after you download it and don't do the update, in: file browser/build-in storage/googleota.
Remember! If you select to do the upgrade and phone change in bios mode and failed, the archive dissappeared.
I read somewhere "..i uninstall the calendar from phone and i can't complete the upgrade, then i reflash the phone and the upgrade works correctly"

Just updated the thread here with the link. I didn't want to start a whole new thread or have it get lost in another thread.
I just bought my phone from Swappa. It's currently rooted,TWRP and running D80120a.
I received OTA update notification last night.
Will I loose root if I allow it to install?
If so, how can I ignore it and disable the notification?

If you're rooted with TWRP, the OTA won't install, at least it didn't for me. I clicked on the OTA and it rebooted into TWRP, but nothing installed. Rebooted the system, the OTA was gone, and I was still on 20a. You will lose root if you install the 20e, but you can re-root with TowelRoot and I believe you can get TWRP back with AutoRec (I used TowelRoot, but not AutoRec). From my understanding, if you use AutoRec, you will lose Knock Code.
So I tried to update and it went through the process. Even seen the little green android saying installing update . phone rebooted still had root access and about phone is showing the "a" version. Checked for update again and it said phone up to date. This doesn't seem right

I'm guessing you don't have a custom recovery? I had TWRP and the green android was on for a split second before TWRP started and it didn't update. I think if you're rooted, you have to update via the support tool or the pc suite. To get root back, use towelroot. Backup your data, but you should be able to keep everything on your phone if you don't wipe/reset.
Cool thanks!

generally speaking "status 7" can mean incompatibility but your problem is you can't update OTA with a custom recovery. you need to install stock EVERYTHING in addition to remove root like you said you did, in order to install OTA.
Also 5.1 has is a bit buggy but your decision and hit thanks i this helped.
Thanks for the help. Can you give a guide on installing stock. I used the NRT to flash stock and unroot and assumed it was done. I'm not sure what's amiss at this point.

I'm using 5.1 on my N5 since the early days Google offically published it, and so far I don't have any bugs or problems.
It runs smooth and stable, even after installing a custom kernel and a custom recovery (and root too, ofc)
@OP:
Google is hosting all its current (and even older) images for nexus devices on their developer homepage.
Assuming you know the device name (and I hope you do so, because we're on XDA ) you can download the image you want.
In case you don't know your device name - it's hammerhead !
You can also find a instruction on the site in case you do not know how to install all the stock-stuff.
NOTICE:
In case you do so, make sure that you've a backup which is NOT stored on your phone (because the partitions get wiped during the installation, I tried to do a workaround but I wasn't able to get it fully working without any bugs), else you'll loose all your (un)necessary apps, files, documents, photos, music, whatsapp messages and so on...
Things you can do after you restored everything to the stock
If you've succesfully installed the stock ROM (which comes also with the stock kernel) and settet up your phone again (language settings, network configurations, and all those google stuff at the beginning) wait before restoring your backup (in case you brick your phone again during the process which you are going to do, this would just be wasted time!) .
Now you can start modding your N5's system again, e.g with a custom Recovery, root or another kernel, it's your choice what you want to be able to do with your phone.
Hope i could help you and give you a small example! (and in case you brick your phone again during one of your modification steps just read this post again to restore a full stock N5)
Cya!

It's pretty simple actually
Turn phone off
Hold power button + volume up
You're now in fastboot
Downloaded the needed files from this thread. Flash from fastboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2826541
Search on Google for latest fastboot zip and use that to do the guide.
You will have to unlock your bootloader. There are videos on YouTube that show how to do this so search and you'll find all the answers.

This one should to the trick
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
All files needed to restore your device should go to its installation folder.
Your bootloader is already unlocked, isn't it?
