Lenovo A850 OTA Firmware s126 22 02 2014
I just got the Lenovo A850. The first thing it wanted to do is download the OTA Firmware update. It failed!
Nick 2014 did the phone just keep asking if you want to update to the latest firmware every once and a while without doing anything? Do you know where the update is downloaded to?
Coolosal, did you have to do anything special for it to work OTA?
Is there a way to force the update because an update available does not show up in "about device".
Thanks

@mateo,
after a month the phone ask me if i want to upgrade the firmware with title "A850_ROW_S116_130922_TO_A850_ROW_S127_140303". The download of new version complete successful and i was select update now. The phone restart in bios mode and trying to update from sdcard, unsuccess to the end.
You can find the archive "update.zip" after you download it and don't do the update, in: file browser/build-in storage/googleota.
Remember! If you select to do the upgrade and phone change in bios mode and failed, the archive dissappeared.
I read somewhere "..i uninstall the calendar from phone and i can't complete the upgrade, then i reflash the phone and the upgrade works correctly"
I uninstall the calendar too because it have only chinese, i reflash the phone but nothing..
If someone else doing any different and have success please tell us the way.

Hello,
I have an ASUS Transformer rooted with RazorClaw and i have installed RecoveryInstaller. My actual firmware is an Europeen version v8.6.5.19.
When i want to upgrade firmware with OTA from 8.6.5.19 to 8.6.5.21, the firmware is downloaded, then the device reboot, begin the upgrade then stop with a graphic "!" without error message.
Somebody has an idea about the problem ?
Must i uninstall RecoveryInstaller, and if it's that, how ?
Thank's
The update failed because you have cwm recovery. You can't just deleted RecovryInstaller.
I've heard peoples have success using OTA root keeper to update.
Just be careful or you'll loose root

No sucess with the Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper here.

OTA rootkeeper will only help for keeping root after OTA update.
It will not help you with succeeding the update.

Yes you're correct. For him to successfully get OTA update he need to go back to stock recovery or better yet jsut flash the latest update via CWM recovery.

The problem is that i'm french.
Do you think that restoring an US stock recovery isn't dangerous for my tablett ?
I think tour Tab will have wrongs parameters...
Why do you want to set an US version ?
And a question more, why did you root your tab and stay with factory ROM ?

Response n° 1 : I don't want to "set an US version", on the contrary, but i'm not able to find a french version. If you know where i can find the good one, i will be happy !!
response n°2 : I want to stay with factory ROM to have OTA automatically, and also because changing manualy ROM with a custom ROM reset all my device, if i am not wrong, and i don't want to re-install all my programs.
Installing a Custom ROM doesn't wipe your data and apps from the tab. Effectivelly, you're wrong.
Also, Many Custom ROM has OTA.
For example, my Tab run Revolver and with Revolver Parts (from the market) I receive OTA update.
Updated many times, no loss of data or apps.
You should do it, Tab working well... really.
It's a good news for me !! I thought the firmware update with a custom ROM erase all on the device.
Thank's very much !!!
De nada ...
Your nickname make me smile... You're french, did you known "Tchi tchi" ?

It will work but if it's modified in any other ways then the update might fail.
Updating by this method will remove your root but you can easily regain it, just follow the root thread.
can I run this update from 2.3.5 rooted or I should make 2.3.6 OTA first?
Yes. It is just a modified updater, all the changes are same as in OTA.
Having a problem. When I do the OTA update, it downloads it, restarts, starts to install, then I get a !. When it fully reboots it says, failed to install update. When I tried this method, stated above, I press System Update and it still wants to download, it has no copy option.

Hi guys,
Just like other people I have also rooted my Note 3 and flagged/tripped the KNOX counter...
The issue first appeared when I was trying to upgrade from Android OS, v4.3 (Jelly Bean) to v4.4.2 (KitKat). The update notification popped, it took roughly 40 minutes to download the firmware and I was then prompted to install. The device then restarted automatically as usual and I received the "Failure to update" window. I have tried couple of times more in case something went wrong with the download but it didn't help. So I had to install the update manually from SamMobile, using Odin and wiping my phone data. Everything went well and I am now enjoying the KitKat version.
Today it seems a new update appeared around 26 MB and I am facing the same issue. After I download the update and hit install, the device will restart and then show the "Failure to update" window.
Is there any way to fix this? Does it mean I can never install the updates automatically?
Please advise and thanks in advance.

Oke, well you can`t install official updates when you are rooted (modified the system)! I suggest you download Mobile Odin Pro from Play and flash the whole new rom from www.sammobile.com and keep root.

Right, so I can just receive the updates but not install them! that's convenient
Do I have to wipe everything again or just install the latest update? Because if I have to wipe everything each time there's an update, I may just cancel the whole update thing until there's something like a major update

You don`t have to wipe as the updates atm are mostly bugfixes. Only wipe cache and dalvik cache after the flash.

Okay I think I got it, so each time there's an update I must download the whole ROM and flash it on top of the current? Since it's the same, it only updates the files that are needed while keeping the rest of the system intact.

Hi every body, before i begin, sorry if my english is bad and also sorry if i'm a total noob.
Well I tried to update my mate 7 to lollipop but there were no official ROM so I tried the beta. I've read that i must be on b137 then update to b308 and finally update to b317 which is more stable. The problem is I'm rooted so the update don't complete it shows me an error message. I think the only solution is to flash the stock rom but I don't know how. Can somebody help me pleeeease :crying:
thanks
Download and extract the B137 rom from here from http://www.huaweiblog.de/huawei_firmware_downloads/ascend-mate-7-downloads/ and put the dload folder to your external sdcard and go to the Updater app and choose local update, then flash the B308 and B317 OTA update and factory reset. Better unroot before flashing to avoid issues. Good luck mate

Try a data factory reset to get rid of residu files and what rom are you on right now, do you have the stock recovery?
Hi all. I was just wondering if mate 7 gets a lollipop update and EMUI 3.1 will that be worldwide or just for specific countries? I'm in Nz and Huawei Nz tol dme we won't be getting EMUI 3.1 but will get lollipop. if that's the case I wonder how long it'll take to get Marshmallow at all.

But i must say i don`t miss Lollipop to be honest and the B145 KK build is rock solid in batterylife.

I've already tried a factory reste and it didn't work. I am on the B137 P03 and I don't think I have another recovery than the stock one because I didn't change anything.
One more thing : after an unsuccessful update when I look to the system infos I found that I have 5.0 in the Android version and EMUI 3.0 not 3.1. But the rom is still B137 :/ I don't understand
