Sideloading 4.4.1 on nexus 5 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so i've been trying to sideload 4.4.1 on my nexus 5, i am able to verify they adb can see my device and that i can send the file to it as well.
The problem that I'm coming across is that when the installation process start it then then says:
'e: footer is wrong
e: signature verification failed
installation failed'
if anyone know a fix to this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason it is still aborting the installation.
Any ideas why?

Idk, I flashed through a custom recovery. You could get a custom recovery image then fastboot boot recovery recovery.img. Where recovery.img is the custom recovery image

oh right okay, i'll keep looking to how to fix it and still do it through dab sideload.

Anyone else got any ideas?

are you stock? could be any of the system or configuration files are failing.

just tried that link and no look, still getting the same error.
and yes it is stock.

It should give you an error as to why it's aborting. Post that and we can help.

I could not get my win8.1 pc to see the device in stock recovery (driver issue that I did not feel like dealing with), but it would see it in fastboot. Flashed factory image, TWRP and then the update.

im not really wanting to root my device though.
when i try it again this is what i get not sure if you can tell what the error is.
'now send the package you want to apply
to the device with "dab side load <filename>...
finding update package...
opening update package...
verifying update package...
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
installation aborted.

Anyone got any thoughts?

No thoughts I'm afraid but I'm getting this error too.
Could it be to do with having usb drivers for multiple devices installed on my PC?

hmm.., i don't think it will be drivers as I'm doing this through mac

I think you should be getting the 4.2.2 update OTA soon, or you should have it already. I side loaded mine on a Mac too, but it worked flawlessly.
Do you have android debugging turned on?
Plug it into your computer and a message should come up on your phone, asking it to remember the key or something. Click allow. I don't know if that will make a difference but its worth a try

Issue manually updating Nexus One

When I try to manually update my Nexus One with the newer non-OTA update. Everything is fine until I get to the section where you can use the trackball. From there I get, "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" Later, after trying to verify the package I get, "E:signature verification failed" and aborts the install. Tried someone's advice about taking the battery out and putting it back in but still nothing. Please advise.
I assume your bootloader is unlocked. What recovery are you using? Amon_RA's?
My bootloader is not unlocked, but will be today. I was under the impression that as long as the file was named "update.zip" it could be done without it. Ah well. So today I am going through the steps to put the desire rom on the phone.

I'm having the same issue, also not rooted. Its really annoying me and I'm quite worried about it since I'm not receiving the 2.2.2 OTA and I'm worried I won't be able to install 2.3 when it arrives.
If anyone knows a fix please reply!

[Q] Flashing ColorOS fails

I'm trying to flash ColorOS on my OPO (I know CyanogenMod's better blah blah but I'm bored) and it flashes fine using fastboot. I am using the file from here.
However, when the phone boots up, it crashes after showing an 'NV partition' error.
How do I resolve this issue?

Thanks for replying buddy I appreciate it
Flashing CM was fine so it seems to be a ColorOS issue. I'll get a screenshot up for you ASAP.
Thanks again

The NV partition invalid error is normal I think. I've read somewhere that it's nothing to worry about.

OnePlus One (Chinese Version)

Bought a OnePlus One (Chinese version) from a guy locally and he said it wouldn't work on Mobilicity/Wind Mobile (Toronto, Canada). I have a Fido SIM so when I went to buy it, I tested it and it worked fine for maybe 30 mins. Since then I'm pretty much holding onto a paperweight because I have no reception and for some reason it wouldn't update itself to XNPH25R, which it downloaded on its own. I've gone through MANY forums and read up information but regardless whatever I try, it just doesn't work. The update fails. I've tried downloading the latest software from Cyanogen's website (cm-11.0-XNPH44S-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip) but this installation fails as well.
When I try to update using the OTA (XNPH25R) I get the following error message:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/VoicePlus.apk","84a9a87*******************")
E:Error in /cache/cm-bacon-03d77315ea-to-d22b777afa-signed.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
At the top I have the following options:
reboot system now
apply update
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe media
When I try to update using the latest software from Cyanogen, I get the following error:
- - Install /data/media/0/download
Finding update package...
opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:footer is wrong
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

You don't need to install a custom ROM, you just need to go to this thread and follow the instructions there, you should have no issues getting that to work.

The method you linked to is much more complicated than the automated method I linked to, it's probably a bit much for a beginner. And anyway, he already mentioned he tried the fastboot images and it didn't work.
Thank you for your help. I'll give it a try and let you guys know.

This might sound like a stupid question but setting the phone back to original setting does that fix the no signal issue or phone not updating itself issue? I'm hoping that'll fix both.

It's pretty simple actually
Turn phone off
Hold power button + volume up
You're now in fastboot
Downloaded the needed files from this thread. Flash from fastboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2826541
Search on Google for latest fastboot zip and use that to do the guide.
You will have to unlock your bootloader. There are videos on YouTube that show how to do this so search and you'll find all the answers.

All files needed to restore your device should go to its installation folder.
Your bootloader is already unlocked, isn't it?

Trying to upgrade Tab 2 7" GT-P3113

OK, this is the first time I have tried something like this, so please excuse any newbe questions..
Ok First I tried to root my P3113 and it looks like it completed correctly, but when I test it with Root Checker and it says that it is it is not rooted..
I have also tried to update it to both 5.1 and 6.0 and it comes up with an error that says Failed to verify whole-file signature, then signature verification failed.
Obviously I am doing something wrong and I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks for all the help.

Firstly, install a custom recovery (TWRP) with odin. You're getting signature verification failed because you're using stock recovery. Then flash the zip through that (make sure to follow instructions on rom thread).
