are the Cm11s features like the new Camera App (in ONEplus ONE)available for Nexus 5? and the new theme engine in an apk?
CM11 is a solid rom but I dont want to use CAF kernels so can it be installed on other roms!?
OnePlus One hasn't even released yet and neither has cm11s. Once they are released, one of the devs (Jishnu) could try to port it here.
No, I don't think the theme engine could be used on Stock / aosp roms. BTW, why are you against CAF kernels??

Nothing against them as such.... I prefer Franco Kernel and slimrom or pa that combi works for me!
CM11s is a purchasable product so it isn't open source. Just like some N5 features aren't available on other phones, don't expect to see any CM11s features here. We may get a port, but these can't be expected to work fully - although we may be lucky.
Why is the Cyanogen team putting more focus on CM11 unopposed to CM11s which is supposed to be their unique software for the Oneplus One? They even rolled out a Nexus-esque rom just yesterday.
This move doesn't make sense to me from a marketing standpoint. One would think the best way for them to go is to make sure CM11s is bug free and then focus on CM11 or whatever else.
THIS IS NOT A RANT. I'm literally confused so please keep all negative comments to yourself.

I would think it's because CM11 is on more devices (many more) than CM11S
there's only 1 phone that runs CM11S, where as almost every other phone has a build of CM11. There are even CM11 nightlies for the OPO if you would rather use that.
why would they focus all their efforts on one specific phone? THAT would not make good sense.
CM11S is meant to be a finished product. There will be stable finished builds in the future, but no nightlies.

From the Amount of bugs I can assure you that CM11s is far from finished.
I'm getting a better experience with CM11 + CM11S Apps. I'd recommend that.

I know it is meant to be a finished product, that's why I'm confused as to why they are still pushing the Nightlies so hard. Shouldn't CM11S be their main focus especially since this is their flagship?
Also isn't CM11 almost the same as CM11s except for subtle visual changes like the lock screen, etc? I would of thought that Cyanogen would of at least did CM11s nightlies.

I guess "finished" was the wrong word. what I meant was "stable ready for release". as in, no nightlies, snapshots, milestones, etc..

nightlies are simply made available. they aren't pushing anything. the code base is compiled on a "nightly" schedule, and if anyone wants it they can go get it.
CM11S is by no means a flagship for Cyanogenmod in any way. its just a version they compiled for the OPO. The OPO was meant to be the first marketable consumer phone running stock CM. No company anywhere is making "nightlies" available for consumer products.

is there something specific in a newer nightly that you want on your OPO, or do you just want "whatever is the newest I can get my hands on"? if that's the case, you can easily switch over to a CM nightly.

From what I've read the Nightlies are more stable than CM11s. What I would definitely want is the stability. There is too many bugs on the stock ROM but at the same time I don't want to have to flash a custom ROM to get stability.
I do understand that this phone isn't officially released yet so I am grateful for beta testing the software.

They are the same thing. Cm11 has nightly builds that are for every device where features are added and bugs are fixed. They are not considered stable. There are also monthly milestone builds which are considered somewhat stable. Cm11s is based on milestone builds with added proprietary code. You should see cm11s updates no sooner than every two weeks and no later than ever month. Any sooner would be annoying.
Cyanogen and OnePlus are not the same company. OnePlus made a stock android ROM based on source code to get people to shut up about making gpe phone. It's not Google certified so it doesn't include Google services or the play store. It's not signed by cyanogen so it doesn't flash with out unlocking the bootloader and using a different recovery.

It doesn't need to be certified by Google, its treated as a custom ROM and is not officially supported by the company. It has a separate gapps package to get Google Services/Play Store just like any other custom ROM.
Think of it as a 'reference rom' for other developers to get on the AOSP train if they choose to do so.

can you dirty flash to regular cm, or is it different enough that we need to wipe the system?
I do agree that CM11 nightly is much more stable than CM11s.
But I still like CM11 looks though. CM11s a bit weird for me.
OnePlus One will be getting a new version of CM11S very soon. And will get Android L one released also... why waste time on older versions? OP clearly has no business sense... There has already been one official OTA that fixed some things (nothing is broken on my OnePlus One, everything works great) There are also 4 or 5 official roms... flashing doesn't void warranty... so I'd say they're doing quite well actually.
Swyped on my awesome OnePlus One 64gb
Unlock bootloader - check
Root access - check
TWRP recovery - check
Warranty still good - check
Hi there people,
I'm thinking of trying SlimRom and I was just wondering many roms say "AOSP" and actually are CM based(which is AOSP afaik), is the SlimRom cm based or AOSP in it's pure form?
I'd like to try some AOSP roms(not based on CM)
P.S. If you know other roms with reduced size feel free to share

SlimRom kernel is CM based. But it has to look and feel of AOSP. The only OPO ROM that I'm aware of that does not use a CM based kernel is Omni.

Rom talking, almost all AOSP roms use CM code... which doesn't mean they are entirely CM based. Afaik, Slim and AOSPA (and other projects) take many things from CM source but they keep their own line of developement, and in some aspects they diverge a lot. But in all cases, they use (as you stated) CM kernel base. Omni is the only one that's truly independent from cyanogen (rom & kernel), I think. Plus, you now got our manufacturer working on a pure AOSP rom, but I'm unsure if cyanogen did that or Oppo.

You're gonna have to be patient then. Or just try Slim, it may use the CM kernel but you're not going to notice that at all because kernel operations take place on a lower level behind the scenes.

When I had DHD I was willing to try every possible combo in order to get just a little bit better performance but since now this isn't the issue I prefer something stable, even 44S I'm on isn't stable enough for me.

You are referring about AOSP by OnePlus ..man still at alpha stage WAY too buggy for my taste, maybe when it's stable I'll try it.
Although here on xda some created patches and bugfixes but still I'm looking for rock-solid stability, I have speed(compared to my old and previous DHD) so I'm not seeking on testing 10 roms per week as I did in the past

I just asked in case I was unaware of something, my field is computers in general and I might lack in android and surely don't know everything about it
Too bad vanilla android isn't around for every phone(nexus style roms), just bare bone android with proper drivers in it - that would be fast ...and slim
P.S. I'll try slimlp when it's out I guess(officially), thank you guys for all ur answers - Fact, it might take a while..I expect 1+1 to deliver rom sometime in late feb(or early feb with bugs ..depends) after that in March or May I should expect SlimLP ..don't take my word I'm wild guessing

I thought Robbie's was official, guess I was wrong. Like I said though, it really doesn't make a lick of difference, it's still built from Slim source, the One and only difference is that it's missing the official tag in the title, that's it. People all too often mistake that tag to actually mean something, it doesn't.

1+1 has already many bugs in it's latest 44S I really don't want anymore even if it's a glitched icon, a minor issue or something that most people don't care about. I see "official" as a "we've test it more than just flash it and leave it for a couple of days"
I mean you know 1+1 has issue when 3rd party camera app is installed and you try to use flash on low light enviroment right? it's probably a driver issue although FV-5 app fix this(workaround), stock camera doesn't have that bug. So in SlimLP if I use the camera does this occur in a 3rd party camera app? ..this should be solved when CM12s hits the market, dunno if it's fixed in the not so official SlimLP
I guess I better back up and try it.. what I have to lose except some time? (I did flash with my previous DHD even 5-6 times per day)

Official definitely doesn't mean that. Take CM for example, it's done by a buildbot, no testing at all, and that's completely official. I'd take Robbie's builds over an official release any day of the week. That's what I'm saying, the perception that official is better is completely false.

CM is the worst example as even cm official builds are buggy sometimes(no proper testing and I'm talking about stable released not nightlies, the guy who build the cm camera app in the past had a long post mention it - nice guy)
I did an EFS backup, did a nandroid backup and doing currently mybackup backup(I use this for apps/contacts since android 2.3.6)
Hello. I bricked my LG G3 d850 by doing some crazy stuff and I haven't really backed up anything then. I got a new phone now so that's good. I am on 5.0.1 stock, and made a nandroid backup using TWRP.
What is the best custom rom for my phone? I realized that cm13 is not available for AT&T ;-; (I cried a little). I had bad experience with nightly builds on previous samsung phone, and do not want to use any unstable ROMs. I would like a fast, elegant rom that is very stable.. Tell me the ROMs you have used, and your suggestions! Thanks!
edit: I read about the Ressurection Remix 6.0.1 ROM, should I go with this?

I'm running candysix on mine. Seems pretty stable. Has some SD card bug. I Dont have an sdcard on mine, so can't confirm
There's no such thing as the "best" ROM. Nor is there a such thing as "the most stable". That's why everyone uses different ROMs. I may like something in a ROM that you don't or you may find it useless. A ROM may have something that I find necessary but you may find it useless. Everyone uses their phones differently, which causes different stability of the ROM. That's why there's no such thing as "the most stable ROM".
I run fulmics 2.5 on mine the new 2.7 updTe has slow chargeing issues but 6 hours of screen on time smooth clean. Only manor issue and its been almost every rom is reboots somtimes require battery pull btw this is a stock based rom so lg apps will work just fine
So far, I've had the most luck with OctOS ROM. I've flashed most of the more popular ones including candysix and BrokenOS. I've liked all of the custom roms I've tried so far but some features were not working in the 2 I mentioned. I also experienced some random crashes and battery pulls with each ROM. I have yet to have any crashes on OctOS so I'm keeping this one for a little until the others become a little better for daily use. Hope you find one you like!
I'm using Resurrection Remix v5.6.0 Android 6.0.1 12/14/2015 Build. I am using Snap dragon camera mod and Nebula MM Kernel based off of 777 Kernel. Everything works great only issue I have is with the GPS but there are fixes in the works over at cyanogenmod. Love this ROM it has so many Customizations and goodies baked in. Keep up the great work Dev!

when a new version of CM is made, it's best not to suck with one nightly build for more than a week as fixes and patches are constantly being added daily. that's how it always is in the infant stages of a new CM number. you probably don't want to be using a rom that is over a month old and doesn't include all the latest fixes and features as, say, the January 13 D850 CM13 nightly.
not to be rude or anything.

Just curious as to where you found the January CM 13 nightly. From what I have read the ATT G3 has not got CM 13 quite yet just some unofficial builds. Thank you for your input but that was just a build I've been using that I enjoyed. I try different ROMs all the time, Right now I'm using Candy6 for the D850 with Nebula kernel and everything is working flawlessly. I really enjoy layers over Cm theme engine. My daily driver until more 6.0 ROMs come out I've tried all of them and so far this is my favorite and if I read correctly its an official build ported from the Nexus 6.

that would be the thread for the most constant CM13 nightly builds. yes they are unofficial, but they are still exactly how the official Nightlies would be. this CM13 rom (newest nightly is 1-18) is probably the most stable 6.0.x rom for our D850.

well guys. What advice would you give what is now 05.APRIL 2016 the most stable ROM ? I have Stock 4.4.2 with ROOT but i wanna something new. What prefer Android 5.x.x ? Or Adnroid 6.x.x MM ? I need most stable ROM.
Thanks
Hay, guys we have questions for the best custom ROM not the one i/you/he or someone else like. i have tried Resurrection ROM, Fulmics, CandySix, XOSP, and the official D855 MM ROM tweaked for D850, but none of them could make me their friend, as all of them has their own glitches and can't run for the long run as the daily driver.
If any one has good long run experience please tell us too,
Edited: Guys i have changed my mind after Fulmics 5.0 launched. I did install it, on my D850, the thing is fantastic. I feel like i'm having an LG G5 in my hands. So, i have really changed my mind about custom ROMs most instantly the FULMICS 5.0 is wow.
Hi all, first time posting on XDA.
I've been using the Exodus ROM for my OPO, because it has two features that so far I haven't found in some of the other ROMs I've checked out - a built-in adblocker feature, and a silent/un-silent option on the long power-press quick menu, a la KitKat and previous. Those features are dealmakers for me - I used a Sultan underclocked ROM for a while to get better battery life and ended up switching back to Exodus because I was too annoyed otherwise - but they haven't updated their ROM since 12/28.
Does anyone know if there are more current ROMs that have those features? I'd rather use a built-in adblocker function because AdAway has been more miss than hit for me.
Thanks!

Thanks!

From looking at their ROM thread, it was closed in December with the OP saying MM coming soon. So it's in the same boat as Exodus.
The only MM I was able to find was the CandySiX ROM. But I don't see the OP from RR in the team list.

Just use AdAway. Problem solved. No need to bypass a ROM that you want to run because it doesn't have an Ad blocker built in.

Why is your Adblock more miss than hit? I do occasionally need to disable when some webpages or videos don't render or play properly.

I'm not sure, and I'm not familiar enough with Android's inner workings yet to find out. But there have been times where I've tried to install AdAway, restart and ads are still not being blocked. Then when I try to update, SuperSU no longer has root privileges. It happened on the stock OPO image and it happened on Sultan's image, so I'd rather not bother with it.

Dirty Unicorn has tons of features including built in ad blocker. It's really fast and smooth and I highly recommend you try out latest test build.

I prefer Resurrection Remix. It has both the features, though both of them need to be enabled in:
- settings>configurations>miscellaneous>ad blocker
- settings>configurations>buttons>power menu
Just don't install SuperSU on top of the ROM. It has that built-in.
+1 for Dirty Unicorns.

OK. I'm willing to give DU a shot from looking at this page. What GApps is recommended for the MM version? The date I'm seeing on the DU downloads page is from 2015-12-19.

Hey man, according to the 4.4.4 page, it's PA-GAPPS that are recommended. And the ones on your own dl page don't say what version they're for, only a date - that's why I was asking. No need to be snotty about the Q.
I've got the Banks GApps from trying Candy (which doesn't have an ad-blocker and you can't turn the hw buttons off, so I'm not stuck on them). I'll use that.

Resurrection Remix is based on CM. Exodus 6.0 isn't out yet (will be AOSP based) and Dirty Unicorns is based on AOSP not just CM with some added features. I'm sure it's a good ROM but its gonna be buggy due to CM always doing random stuff in nightlies

What if i tell you,its not? i use to think like this too that every cm base rom will have the same issue but sometimes its not, like the huge battery drain caused by the gps,the developper fixed it,the rom is not like blisspop use to be,keep on adding stuff and the rom was that not stable, this one is fluid stable and batterylife is very good. i don't like aosp rom so can't really judge, depends on what the op is searching for in a rom.

I saw people had to switch modems cause of CM and he had to fix issues introduced upstream from CM so kind of proves my point. AOSP based means it will be stable and have similar features just that everything is made with a clean base. I've been on CM13 for some time and DU has way more features and its really smooth and stable. Make a backup of RR and give it a try you won't regret it.
