[Q] N5 5.0.1 Wifi not remembering to save my home network. Have to re-enter password. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason my phone won't remember the password to my home network. When I disconnect from it, it never actually saves it. If I click the network to connect, it prompts me for the password again. This seems limited to my router here, as other saved networks seem to connect automatically just fine.
Any suggestions? My laptop has no problem auto-connecting, nor does my OPO.

Try rebooting your router as the first step, even though other things connect.

[Q] Hotspot/ICS issue

Did a search and came up with nothing...
I am flashed with CM9 running ICS on my SGH-T959W.
Ever since I rooted my phone, I am not able to use my phone as a portable hotspot on either of my laptops (work and home). It will connect but then the network icon says limited connectivity and I am unable to access any data.
It works fine on my Ipad. It also worked on both of these computers pre-root.
If you have the connection saved on your laptops you may delete them and reestablish them or double check ssid names and the password. Hotspot will work on CM9 with laptops.
The same thing happens to me, all you have to do is be patient. It takes all little time but the screen that asks you what type of connection it is will pop up. Public, home, etc.
After picking one you'll have no problems. Happens every time I use the hot spot thing

Thanks! This worked perfectly. I went into my network and sharing center - > manage networks and deleted the Android connection, then restarted my computer and bam!

802.1x EAP issues

My school(Umass Amherst) uses 802.1x EAP protocol, and I'm having issues connecting to the network. First off I had no issues connecting to the network with my htc one and cm 10.1. The oddest thing is when I first booted my Nexus 5 it connected to the network WITHOUT me even entering in my username and password. However, after unlocking the bootloader which reset my phone I cannot connect to the network. I've tried using the school's step by step method which uses an app called xpressconnect. No luck. If anyone has any insight, it would be much appreciated.
Arg... this is so frustrating!!! I have tried every possible angle with this. I absolutely need to be able to connect to my school's network! I'm going to have to return this amazing phone if I can't solve this

Hey, at the college where I work, we also use 802.11x for authentication and I haven't had an issue with my N5. We also use XpressConnect as the wifi wizard but I just manually set up my connections. I have tried our staff and student wireless networks without issue. The settings are the same but we adjust access based on where your college id is located in AD. I haven't come in contact with another N5 yet.
One thing I do when I can't get student devices to connect to our wifi, is I reset their password to their default password, even if it already is the default password. No clue what it does but devices connect right away-you might want to try going to your school's help desk / IT department and ask them to reset your password or do it through the college's website if thats available. Sometimes, just a password change enables devices to get on the network.
Hope it helps...

[Q] ASUS Zenfone 5 keeps forgetting WiFi password

Hello, I have a Zenfone 5 that keeps forgetting the WiFi password for the home router (both regular and guest network). Sometimes it automatically reconnects for several days when it sees the network, sometimes it just won't connect. When I try to connect manually, it will ask for the password. Any idea what's wrong? It happened since I got the phone, and different updates didn't help (running the latest version now).

Not that it really helps, but at least I am not alone.

Nexus 5 WIFI issue

Hello everyone,
I recently encountered an issue with my Nexus 5 that has been driving me crazy for the past couple days.
So basically I was streaming a video on you tube the other night, until my Nexus 5 froze up. My phone was taking way too long to respond, so I decided to hold the power button until the device shut off, and I held the power button again to turn it back on. (duh) As soon as it turned back on, I was no longer able to connect to my home WIFI. So now whenever I try to connect to our home WiFi, I get an "authentication error" and the WiFi network status just comes up as 'saved" instead of "connected". My mobile Data works fine, it's just my WiFi that isn't working anymore. Did I accidentally fry a component within my Device that allowed me to connect to a WiFi network? If there is a fix to this, please let me know ASAP! :crying:
'forget' your wifi network and put in the password again; should fix it.
Do other devices still connect to the same WiFi network?
Rebooted the router?
As above, also forget the network and re-enter the password.
For completeness, test the Nexus on different WiFi networks as well.
Very last resort should be factory reset if you can't get it to connect. If it doesn't connect on fully stock unmodified software, then you have a hardware problem.

Not able to connect to school wifi

So a few weeks ago I received an update ota for my nexus(unrooted). Everything seemed normal until I tried to connect to my school wifi. Before the update the wifi worked fine at school. For some reason when I try to connect now nothing happens,it says connecting for about a second then it's just blank as though I hadn't tried to connect to it at all. I have deleted the network and tried to reconnect and it still doesn't work. I have also factory reset my phone and still no luck. My wifi still works at home too. The first time log in onto the school wifi gives a prompt that asks for user id and password (not web based or internet pop up based login) through the android os, it is a one time login. Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance.
