Games are working and tested by me on kosthouls Cyanogenmod 12 - Android Lollipop, i know , in Stock ROM 4.2.2 games will laggy ! (Ex: Asphalt 8 will lag in Low setting on stock!)
All games tested on 1.2 GHz, no overclock.
Be sure you have free RAM in phone, when phone RAM is free only 150MB and lower, phone will laggy ! Very laggy! (Using RAM manager pro and good)
Use FolderMount for save big games to external SD card. Its better!
Tip: Try Greenify if you on Stock ROM or phone is laggy than earlier - it will help !

I played asphalt 8 smoothly on stock rom at highest setting (i used greenify to hibernate apps)

Psx4droid Compatibility List for HTC Evo

Let's see how this works out. The other thread on psx4droid seems to be a bit cluttered, so I thought it would make sense to create a thread that's nothing but a list of the games that do and do NOT work with the current version of the application. If this works out, great. If it gets locked due to being unnecessary, that's fine too .
If you want to contribute, simply list the game you tried, including the refresh rate(s), whether you're overclocked or running a custom ROM, and whether you have sound enabled, because sound does make a difference.
COMPATIBILITY LIST (in alphabetical order)
Arc the Lad - Runs under default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, some minor slowdown and distorted audio. Running CyanogenMod 6.
Breath of Fire IV - Runs under 30 refresh rate, but 20-30 minutes in the player hits an invisible wall and is unable to proceed. Running CyanogenMod 6.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Runs poorly under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate.
Colony Wars: Vengence - Does not boot, leads to a black screen. Running Damage Control 3.5.
Cool Boarders 3 - Runs under 50 refresh rate, runs well but sound is screwed up. Running Fresh 1.0.1, no overclock.
Crash Bandicoot - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, audio is pretty choppy, game lags less than the sequels. Easily playable, though. Running Fresh 1.01, no overclock.
Crash Bandicoot 2 - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, audio is pretty choppy, game lags enough to be annoying. Easily playable, though. Running Fresh 1.01, no overclock.
Crash Bandicoot Warped! - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, audio is pretty choppy, game lags enough to be annoying. Easily playable, though. Running Fresh 1.01, no overclock.
Chrono Cross - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, very inconsistent, poor audio reproduction.
Diablo - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate. Running Fresh (1.0.1?) with custom godmode kernel and CyanogenMod 6.
Dragon Warrior 7 - Does not boot.
Driver - Runs under 50 refresh rate, perfectly playable, minor sound skipping. Running Fresh 1.0.1, no overclock.

Final Fantasy VII - Runs amazingly under 40/50 refresh rate, Running CyanogenMod 6.
Final Fantasy VIII - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, frame rate drop with multiple characters on screen. Running CyanogenMod 6.
Final Fantasy Anthology (FF5 and FF6) - Somewhat playable, numerous audio bugs and menus take upwards of 4-6 seconds to load. Running CyanogenMod 6.
Frogger - Works under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, sound is choppy under any setting, game runs smoother with audio disabled. Running Fresh 1.0.1, no overclock.
Front Mission 3 - Does start up but halfway through telling story it crashes and locks phone up.
Dragon Warrior VII - Works under 30 refresh rate, sound is clear but main menu flickers.
Gran Turismo 2 - Works under 30/40/50 refresh rate, minor sound bugs and lag. Running Damage Control 3.2.
Gundam Battle Assault - Works under 30/40/50/60 refresh rate.
Harvest Moon Back to Nature - Does not load.
Intelligent Qube - Works under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, screen is squished.
Jumping Flash 2 - Works under 30 refresh rate, some graphical glitches and sound distortion. Running CyanogenMod 6, overclocked to 1152 Mhz.
Legend of Mana - Works under 30 refresh rate, some minor sound distortion. Running CyanogenMod 6, overclocked to 1152 Mhz.
Marvel Vs Capcom - Works under 30/40/50/60 refresh rate.

Valkyrie Profile - Lags too much to be playable.
Xenogears - Works under 40/50 refresh rate, small amount of artifacting.
Playable
Somewhat playable
Not playable
Does not boot
Reserved in case something wacky happens...
Diablo eboot works till you reach dungeon then lines and crash, evo fresh custom godmode kernel and all refresh rates
On DC 3.2...
Gran Turismo 2 (arcade disc) works well. Some minor sound bugs and slowdown at times, but is playable. Haven't tried on FroYo.
EDIT 1: Tried under 30/40/50 refresh rates, doesn't seem to make much difference.
EDIT 2: Also probably relevant, using DC compatable netarchy-toastmod 3.7.3c kernel (FPS cap removed).

What refresh rates did you play under? I listed it as working under all the rates for now. Thanks, though .
On DC 3.5:
Colony Wars: Vengence would not boot. Just went to a black screen.
Any word on Metal Gear Solid?
EVO Stock.
Suikoden II - Playable with all refresh rates, sound is distorted, but not a big issue.
Best to get a WIKI going. I got most of the work done by ripping a PSX4PSP wiki from gamerspress, its located HERE: http://psx4droid.wikkii.com/wiki/Compatibility

The PSP is a VERY different mobile device than the Evo. For one, it's got a better GPU (most likely), so it's bound to run more games well. Second of all, Sony released its own Playstation emulator for the PSP, which means that its a core function of that device. You can't just rip a list of compatible games from a device that is supported to play PSX games by the manufacturer and migrate it to a smartphone running software developed by a few people, currently in its first release.

I'm not an idiot. There is no blank wiki available that I could find that had a great deal of PSX games and corresponding information available. I'm working to rip the 'notes' from every game, but leave all other information. Someone should do it, and a wiki allows EVERYONE to do it.

According to Qualcomm, the Adreno is faster than a PSP in raw performance... Though Qualcomm likes to spout off a lot of ****.

The PSP is a machine dedicated to play games. It doesn't matter what it's hardware is.
My PC is a GOD compared to the hardware in a PS3.... yet if there is a PS3 emulator out, my computer wouldn't be able to handle it if the fate of the world depended on it.
Same situation with this phone. It's crappy snapdragon is ill-suited for playing playstation games. A Galaxy S on the other hand probably has no trouble at all. Can't wait til I can buy a Samsung Epic.
Now for some useful information.
ROM: CM6 nightly (7/25) overclocked to 1.13 Ghz
Refresh rate: 40
Final Fantasy Tactics runs very poorly. Sometimes it's smooth... but mostly choppy. I couldn't even bare the opening scene (people talking) in order to actually make it to a fight.
I find this odd because a lot of people said Tactics was playable.
I did some testing myself:
Fresh EVO 1.0.1 with netarchy-toastmod kernel 3.7.3c, stock CPU speed, Epson screen.
GTA2 - 50fps - Playable, Runs great except for the fact all objects, player, and cars are invisible with the iso im using.
Cool Boarders 3 - 50fps - Playable, Runs decent, Sound is screwed up.
Twisted Metal 4 - 50fps - Playable, cannot shoot as no L2 or R2, game only fills top half of screen?!
Tomb Raider III - 50fps - Plays near perfect, sound works.
Driver - 50fps - Perfectly playable, sensitive controls, minor sound skipping.
Final Fantasy VII - 50fps - Runs near perfect, minor fps drops every 30 seconds to 1 min.
The WIKI as a blank slate is done! That took a long time to reformat and remove the PSP info, but it should be worth it.

Wow, that's a pretty big number of games, thanks for the contribution!
Also, regarding Twisted Metal 4, the screen issue can be fixed by going to the options in the main menu and selecting 'Screen orientation'. When you're there, you should see a picture of sweet tooth on a black and white background. Just press the down arrow once, and the screen should calibrate itself perfectly. The lack of L2 and R2 buttons make the game worthless, though.
How can I get this PSX4Droid thing to even work. I keep getting a black screen.
Tested Breath of fire 4. It is quite playable until you reach the part at the cliffs in the beginning. You cant go down the stairs as there is this invisible wall blocking your path. And hence you cannot progress

Have you made several purchases immediately before buying this app? I had that problem twice before, but then I realized that it would authorize just fine if I waited an hour or two before buying.

What are your GTA III display settings?

I've made this thread to help people find some good settings to help reduce the lag.
Please state:
Draw Distance
Screen Resolution
Visual Effects
Dynamic shadows
If you have overclocked (If yes how many MHz/GHz)
Do you lag? (Lots, Some, When traveling fast, none at all)
I'm just curious of what the best settings are to make the game look good and run smoothly and I'm sure many people are wondering the same.
To start off with I'll say my settings.
Draw Distance: 43%
Screen Resolution: 66%
Visual Effects: high
Dynamic shadows: On
Overclocked? Yes, 1.613 GHz
Do you lag? A little bit, mainly when traveling fast.
Draw Distance: 81%
Screen Resolution: 79%
Visual Effects: max
Dynamic shadows: On
Overclocked? no.
Do you lag? rarely and usually only on the middle island but rarely.
My device is rooted with bloat removed but no overclock, r800a (rogers)

That's quite good mine lags quite a bit even with low settings
My modifications are
Draw distance 50%
Screen resolution: 50%
Visual Effects: Low
Dynamic Shadows: Off
Overclocked: No
Do you lag? yes it does when there's a lot going on.

Can you post a video? I'd like to see just how rarely it lags with those settings.
Draw Distance: 60
Screen Resolution: 70
Visual Effects: Max
Dynamic shadows: On
If you have overclocked (1.9 ghz)
Do you lag? Yep. Upon first starting the game I will have some lag while it fills memory I'm guessing, and it will lag a bit every few blocks. It's not game breaking, but an annoyance that keeps me from diving in hardcore.
I have noticed that how much free ram you have when you start the game makes a HUGE difference to lagging....
I had alot of apps installed and usually had around 100mb free ram when i close all apps in my go launcher, but after uninstalling almost all of my apps that i dont use, and removing ram heavy apps, i managed to get my free ram to 200mb before launching gta and the difference was amazing!
More ram = less lag
My game lags even when running on low. I have tried the usual things like cleaning memory (I have at least 200 MB of RAM free consistenly), rebooting the phone, reinstalling the game, even restoring factory settings. Patch 1.3 made a small performance increase over 1.2, but like I've said in the beginning, I can't really enjoy it. My phone is R800i with stock firmware. I've been playing like this for months and now it's starting to annoy me.
Can somebody help me please?'
Draw distance: 55
Screen resolution: 70
Visual effects: low
Dynamic shadows: off
Not overclocked.
Maybe turn the draw distance down? It's a small screen, you can get away with it. These settings have nice nearfield detail. Things pop out of the middle distance in some places, but I'm used to old school handhelds where that might be absolutely fine. I found the game lags regardless even below these settings, but I also couldn't go above them.
Draw Distance: 37%
Screen Resolution: 90%
Visual Effects: Medium
Dynamic Shadows: On
Do you overclock: Only if there is lag that annoys me
On stock kernel, there were pockets of low framerate in the middle island and when there were a lot of cars but it wasn't so objectionable that I couldn't play through it. Then on Doomkernel for some reason it was a more annoying kind of lag at 1GHz, but 1.2-1.4GHz makes it play great, with a good sensation of speed for the sports cars, but I don't like overclocking too much. But perhaps it wasn't the kernel, perhaps my rom had got a little more bloated. What's weird is that it occasionally ran perfectly at 1GHz, but I couldn't reproduce those conditions at will. I'm on ICS beta now, where GTA crashes the phone horrendously.
I'm using my ROM, and GTA III v1.3.
Draw Distance - 34%
Screen Resolution - 59%
Visual Effects - High
Dynamic shadows - On
OC - Yes, my frequency is 364.8 MHz - 1305.6 MHz
I think I don't have lags, maybe sometime when some new things on map loading.
I've tried reducing Draw distance and it does have an impact on the performance.
I never realized it was this big, reason why I've been ignoring it. Might try OC and root to remove some of the bloatware
Thanks for the help.
On stock gingerbread 2.3.4:
Draw Distance - 100%
Screen Resolution - 100%
Visual Effects - max
Dynamic shadows - on
If you have overclocked - 2.0 GHz, smartass v2
Do you lag? Rarely, only when traveling very fast with 6 stars wanted level (due to multiple choppers, cops, tanks, etc + map loading)
Sacrifice battery life for performance, leaving it with only 2 hours and a half of gameplay with full charge and half of the brightness (the screen is pretty dim anyways )
On FXP CM9:
Draw Distance - 1% (can't see anything)
Screen Resolution - min (looks UGLY)
Visual Effects - min (no lights or blood)
Dynamic shadows - off (static shadows)
If you have overclocked - 1.6 GHz, ondemand
Do you lag? Yes, when there are more than say, 4 peds or 2 cars on screen. When having lots of stuff going on, the device and the OS completely crash
Definitely in need for a new ICS rom.

Poor FPS in subway surfers

I am experiencing a bit of lag on subway surfers compared to my one XL. I got FPS Meter, an app to draw fps and it displayed a constant 15 FPS. Im currently on stock rooted 4.1.2 with CPU at 1.5ghz. Force GPU to draw 2D is also on.
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Vsync is disabled through 'Pimp My Rom' and I noticed no improvement whatsoever. Note this is a fresh install with no other apps apart from MX Player, which isn't running.

To all you Note 3 Gamers, Or Extreme multitaskers

Wow, CM on a Note 3 simply rockets its performance through the roof !
I've noticed over the past few days my device has played the most intensive 3D Games that android has to offer amazingly well, It really does show TW up!
Below I've posted a YouTube Video of running Three intensive games all at once ( not literally ) and swapping around some other apps, just to show you how snappy and quick this phone now is !
** GTA SA is running on High res/draw distance with shadows on , reflections on and details set to medium ( this was a lag fest on TW )
Enjoy all, Many thanks to CM and all the devs that have placed their work into it

How to get great performance from your note 5 Pro (Whyred) while preserving battery l

So I am writing this post just help some people who might be thinking about how to churn out the best performance from this phone gaming wise or not while also maintaining it's battery life so that you can tackle the dilemma of wanting good performance or good battery life.
So this isn't a very well structured and comprehensive test but more so what I have found in my regular usage using this combination.
So I am right now on MIUI 11 9.10.24 Beta [Xiaomi.eu] with extended kernel V12 EAS. I have also used custom ROM's based on AOSP (Both android 9 & 10), so I think my judgement can be fair.
I play two games , that is PUBG mobile and PES 2020 mobile. This two games are graphically intensive games (more than candy crush or temple run). So I have set this two games as my benchmark for performance.
So here are my experience with different combinations of ROM's and kernel withh these games :-
1. Pixel Experience Beta + Stock kernel [Android 10]
PUBG mobile :- Graphics : Balances , FPS : High (30)
PES Mobile :- Graphics : Standard , FPS : 60
So in this the result was that even though I was able to play PUBG on high and it was running smoothly without any hiccups , I couldn't say the same for PES mobile as on 60 FPS it wasn't as smooth as I had hoped it would be and even on 30 FPS it was struggling to play smoothly. And according to me the smoothness just shows that where the game is able to keep the FPS consistent and where it cannot.
So..
PUBG mobile :-
Running Smoothly , Almost no FPS drops
PES mobile :-
Not running smoothly , Constant FPS drops
To my sheer suprise I had the same result with this ROM on Extended Kernel V10 EAS . And I am pretty sure there wasn't any issue that the ROM was in beta test , as you will get same results in Android 9 ROM's too.
2. MIUI 11 beta (9.10.XX) + Stock kernel [Android 9]
PUBG mobile :- Graphics : Smooth , FPS : Medium (25)
PES mobile :- Graphics :- Standard , FPS : 60
So in this Combination the results do a full reversal as here PUBG is locked at low graphics with maximum of medium (25) frame rate while PES mobile is able to do standard graphics at 60 FPS. And the result is also somewhat confusing as the smoothness in PUBG at low with medium frame rate is not that great (Meaning frequent FPS drops) but PES mobile with FPS set 60 and standard graphics is running smoothly (Meaning almost no FPS drops).
So..
PUBG mobile :-
Not running smoothly , Frequent FPS drops
PES mobile :-
Running smoothly , Almost no FPS drops
3. MIUI 11 Beta (9.10.XX) + Extended kernel V12 EAS
PUBG Mobile :- Graphics :Balanced/High, FPS :High(30)
PES mobile :- Graphics : Standard/High , FPS : 60
So this is the last combination and the best one in my opinion from my experience. The results are honestly too good. In this PUBG mobile is able to run on balanced and high graphics with High FPS (due to the kernel using fake GPU ID which shows the GPU as Adreno 512 instead of Adreno 509) and it runs very smoothly , meaning almost no FPS drops. Now for PES mobile the graphics is set to standard which FPS is set to 60 , the game runs very smoothly meaning almost no FPS drops..
So..
PUBG mobile :-
Running smoothly , Almost no FPS drops
Pes Mobile :-
Running smoothly , Almost no FPS drops
So in conclusion as you saw the last combination is able to run both game smoothly without dropping any frames , I personally think that MIUI 11 beta + Extended kernel is the for performance.
Note that it's Not necessary it should be MIUI 11 beta , the results will be the same on the stable versions too.
Note #2 , It's also not necessary to always install extended kernel V12 as the other later version will also provide the same performance. But it's necessary that you USE the EAS version as many users have told that EAS version is better in battery compared to HMP version.
TL;DR :- Use any Extended Kernel version that is EAS
Now about the battery life I have been getting around 7h Screen on time , and I would say that I am medium user (I play this 2 games but not very frequently .. Like 2 hours in a day both combined) based on my usage..
So it should suffice any person in battery life unless they are very heavy users (Playing games for a large amount of time etc.)
So thank you for reading this Post ! This was my first on XDA and would like to know if it helped anybody. This was my experience I just wanted to share that I thought would be valuable to some people.
Is camera working with MIUI 11 (xiaomi.eu ?) and Extended kernel ?
You should try kangarooX 5.5 with eas performance module.
Pubg at balanced settings and high fps(60) works great. Can you run a test with high settings and high fps and do a comparison with your results?
