I followed the CM path through CM 11 on my S3 d2lte, then ran into problems with GPS after a nightly and couldn't resolve the issue. I moved to AICP and loved the ROM, but had more problems there, and now I'm seeing random reboots, plus the ROM seems to have been abandoned, possibly in favor of developing for Android 5.0.
I know this is not a "new" device, and it's been nice overall for almost two years, but I'm wondering if there's a ROM that might help me enjoy and get the most out of the time I have left with it, without constantly fighting with problems. Also, any stable experience with 5.0 builds?

I've tried more than one build on 5.0 myself and the same issue I had with each one, random reboots and issues with calling. I've been told to update to the NE1 modem but I won't go any higher than ML1.
I've ran nearly every rom out there, I've even went with the stable CM official versions and while they ran fine for a good two weeks or so after that the random reboots started happening again, the latest one I'm on is BlissStalk and so far after about almost 2 weeks I've had not one random reboot (knock on wood) and hoping it stays that way. I could suggest an older 4.3 rom which I never seemed to have an reboots on no matter how long I ran the rom. The choice is truly yours in the end

Thanks, ShapesBlue. May try this, esp. if there aren't any other suggestions. BTW, the latest Chrome on Windows doesn't seem to like the Bliss downloads:
Bliss_gapps.4.4.4.zip is malicious, and Chrome has blocked it. (same for the d2lte ROM zip).
Explanation links to this help page.
That's kind of messed up. Wonder what the problem is inside those zip files.

Try downloading it directly to your phone and adding it to the external SD, Windows tends to block .zip files so there is no surprise there

For Masta's builds you have to update to the latest modem for it to function properly. As for a good stable 4.4.4 rom, I really enjoy dirty unicorn last build. It comes with its on custom kernal & I've never had any issues. I would give it a test & let me know what you think

I flashed DU 4.4.4 7.8 unofficial (latest) last night using TWRP 2.6.3.1, followed instructions, after wiping everything but internal & external SD storage. Since then, no mobile signal, and "no service"/"emergency calls only"; Google Play thinks the phone has "no carrier".
BTW, after the install, also tried to update to latest TWRP (2.8.3.0) following their instructions to make sure that recovery wasn't a problem, but GooManager is full of "can't find recovery for your device"/"404"/"not found" errors. I had to download a separate app to re-flash the new recovery
image file. Anyway, I re-flashed with updated TWRP, still no signal.

Yes. Is NE1 that bad?
Also, what firmware is recommended these days? Noticed that the latest versions of the latest firmware and modem ZIPs do not pass ZIP verification; tried multiple different sources.
Actually I'm getting a better signal with ne1

Thanks. Does this ZIP pass verification for you on flashing? Just wondering as other versions of the same modem file from xda threads did not (as mentioned earlier), but after disabling verification the ZIP seemed to flash fine. Same for the MF1 firmware files.
I just installed mastamoon's CM 12 build, which is really nice, and I seem to have good mobile with NE1, but problems I've seen on other ROMs are popping up with this one too (can't get GPS to lock, and can't get USB data transfer working). I'm wondering if a bad firmware/modem image is screwing with the phone, and whether there's a modem and/or firmware image ZIP somewhere that passes verification?
Which ROM's were you on that you had issues with GPS and usb transfer?

Well, at this point it might be prudent to odin back to stock. I had to do it a couple months ago, had the brilliant idea to encrypt my phone. It took me about 2 hrs to get the phone back to normal. You have to run casual again to unlock, install recovery, install firmware, flash any current ROM.

Hi everyone, really sorry if someone has asked this before, but I looked through the forums and couldn't find much pertaining to my problem.
I installed LiquidSmooth 4.2.1 for my I535 Galaxy S3 on Verizon, and it loaded, but I noticed my appstore was gone, preventing me from installing Titanium to get all my apps back.
I googled it and that told me to install Gaaps. So I reflashed the stock ROM, and then installed Gaaps. When I did, every Google related app crashed simultaneously, making the phone near unusable. I figured I'd just reflash the stock image again, and that seemed to fix the problem. Is there anything else I should do, in case something goes wrong?
I have a feeling I might have used the wrong Gaaps? Is there a certain place I'm supposed to look as mentioned here? In that same thread, it looks like the dev doesn't even want to answer where to get the gaaps.
Again, I'm sorry if the answer is obvious, but I am having a little trouble here.

yes.
Always make sure to flash a Gapps package when flashing a ROM, unless otherwise specified. Also, when flashing a Gapps package make sure that you flash a gapps package that is compatible with whichever variant phone you are using, in your case d2vzw as well as compatible with the ROM, i.e. if flashing a 4.2.2 ROM make sure you flash the compatible gapps package. Doing an extra 10 minutes of research can save you hours of headaches.

I'm using TWRP 2.8.1.0 and I tried flashing the latest nightly as well as the stable version. I verified the MD5 signature after copying the .zip to my SD card. I also did a full wipe with TWRP.
My phone is the i727R with Gingerbread 2.3.5. Do I need to update to the latest official 4.x firmware from Rogers before I try to flash with AOSPA?
Any other suggestions or hints? This is my first time trying to flash a custom ROM, so I'm probably doing something wrong.
Figured it out, didn't have the latest radio installed. Might want to add that to the instructions for noobs like me. It's easy to overlook because the note regarding the firmware is under the "contributors" heading, separate from the basic instructions.

I'm not sure if CWM is compatible with the GApps. I recommend using TWRP instead.
But I have used CWM for GApps for all my ROMs so far and it hasn't been an issue. Why would this be different. My understanding is that it is just a space issue so I am wanting to know if there is a way to get this space issue resolved when even the smallest GApps was still too large (supposedly).

Trouble updating
I installed the 1/16/2015 version (PA 5.02) plus nano gapps. Most things seemed to work well, and I like the look and feel, but two or three times I have experienced periods where the battery drains even though connected to a charger. This morning, for example, the phone had been on the charger all night and was fully charged. Without disconnecting it from the charger, I checked my email and then put the phone back down. An hour or so later, the battery showed low 90's percent, even though it showed that it still was plugged in.
Yesterday I tried to update to the 2/2/2015 version. After making a backup with TWRP, I installed the 2/2 zip. I have flashed several ROMS, so I am not a complete noob, but I have never done a zip upgrade without factory reset. The upgrade seemed to succeed, but after booting, I had no gapps and my google accounts were missing. I then tried reflashing the same gapps and the systemUI fix. That got my apps back, more or less, but my google accounts still were missing and my home screen layouts all were lost. I then reverted to my pre-upgrade nandroid backup and tried again, by installing the 2/2 ROM upgrade zip, the gapps, and the systemUI fix all without rebooting in between. As before, after rebooting, my home screens were gone and (I think) my google accounts were gone. (By the way, I use the Google Launcher.)
Is upgrading from the 1/16 to 2/2 supposed to require reinstallation of gapps and adding back of accounts, home screen setups, etc? If it is then such an upgrade is almost as much hassle as a complete, clean install. Can someone tell me how this is supposed to work?
I installed the Lollipop rom (and the UI patch) and am still having "Can't connect to camera" issues. occasionally, rebooting the phone helps, but then if I do something like switch from the back camera to the front, it will stop working again.

There are issues with the gapps backup script, so the gapps package should be flashed with every ROM update. The loss of gapps most likely caused your accounts and home screen to be removed.

This should only happen when using the front facing camera. This will be fixed next update.
Bummer
Losing home screens and accounts every time an update is flashed is a bummer. Putting everything back (accounts, home screens, Power Toggles settings, ...) makes me hesitate to try an update very often.
You say the problem is with gapps. Does this same problem occur with all flavors of ROMs and all flavors of gapps? I ask because my previous experience with installing ROMs has been installation of new ROMs, not updates to one already installed.
Incorrect information in battery monitor - PA 5
I've been using (and generally liking) the PA 5 for several weeks. I have noted, however, that the breakdown of battery usage, as reported by the OS, seems inaccurate. As just one example, yesterday, I started a 15-minute call shortly after unplugging my phone from the charger, with a full battery. At the end of the call, I was down to about 90% battery. That seems reasonable to me, based on past experience. The battery monitor said almost all of my battery consumption was for Cell Standby, though, with only a little consumption assigned to actual phone use. I've seen some other examples where the usage breakdown did not seem right, although I did not document them and do not recall exact details.
Am I correct that this is incorrect behavior? Are others experiencing this (or does anyone pay attention to it), either on this ROM or on other ROMs?

It's working fine for me. Previously I couldn't get GPS locks on any AOSP ROM, but before switching to these builds from KitKat I flashed to Alliance ROM (stock-based TouchWiz - this is important) and got a GPS lock there. After a wipe I flashed the 4/6 build and GPS still worked.
Cool! Thank you for the tip.
Load rom from phone after wipe
Pardon my ignorance, but if i copy a rom and gapps to my phone and then do a full wipe, won't that wipe out the rom and gapps files? Is it stored in 2 different partitions, or do I put it on an external SD? I have TWRP 2.8.5, cm-12.1-20150407-UNOFFICIAL-d2vzw and gapps-L-4-15-15. Currently running cm11x.
1) Make sure you're on the latest TWRP
2) Download gapps from euroskank's site
3) Full wipe, flash ROM and gapps

Is it stored in 2 different partitions, or do I put it on an external SD? I have TWRP 2.8.5, cm-12.1-20150407-UNOFFICIAL-d2vzw and gapps-L-4-15-15. Currently running cm11x.
1) Make sure you're on the latest TWRP
2) Download gapps from euroskank's site
3) Full wipe, flash ROM and gapps

Correct. If you put it on your internal and then wipe it the files will be gone

Advice on which version is consider to be a Stable Daily Driver
Hello everyone I'm currently using version date 4/7 however I'm having problems with Bluetooth when playing music and battery life is horrible. I'm going to try and go with 4/10 which from what I read seems to be very stable and great battery life. I simply want a good daily driver. Has anyone perform a dirty upgrade to a newer version successfully without issues. I want to perform this since it is quicker and I won't have to re-add my email exchange accounts again. How is the latest version 4/15?
Please advise,
TS
MMS and bluetooth audio (music) not working.
I'm using the lastest build 4/15 with 4/15 gapps which is running great. The only 2 problems i'm seeing is not being able to receive and send MMS and blue tooth audio isn't working properly. Are these know issues? Thank you guys for all the work that you have been doing thus far. My phone is like new again!!!
Thank you,
TS
agree textra as alternative msg app
Been using textra for about a year and like it better than stock and other apps. Would use it even if stock worked.
need to cut invisi-k a break
That's rough indeed. I for one would be fine with him doing weeklies, instead of nightlies, so dude can have time to live and work.
Latest Gaps 4/18 installation procedure.
Can I dirty install the latest gaps over our current installation or do I need to perform and clean installation of both zip files with the latest gaps? I'm currently running zips 4/15 with 4/15 gaps. Therefore can I just in recovery mode installed 4/18 gaps over the 4/15 gaps successfully without issues? Has anyone seen a big difference in the 4/18 gaps opposed to the 4/15?
Thank you,

I don't think there would be any true difference between the two gapps. I don't really see a need to update the gapps unless your updating to a newer android version. I know android 5.1.1 was released recently but I doubt the S3 could even run this version

Bluetooth (Audio) and MMS
Has anyone tested Bluetooth (Audio) and being able to send and receive MMS? Is that working successfully on the 4/19 build?
Thank you,

4/22 wont boot for me!!! (Beware)
Just a heads up I just tried to install zip file 4/22 and my phone wont boot therefore I had to restore back to 4/21. I performed a full wipe before trying to install 4/22 however no luck. Yes MMS are now working on 4/21 !!!
Thanks for all the great work,
TS
I recently flashed this on my Verizon S3, however it seems that it has borked my SMS, possibly MMS (tested much less). I cannot send/receive SMS messages whatsoever. I have tried to manually set my SMSC, and have updated to the newest modem. Any ideas why this could be happening and how to fix it?
dirty flash 4/22?
anyone tried a dirty flash (I'm lazy) over 4/7? I'm stuck on "Android is starting.... starting apps". Never could get 4/15 to work. Tried dirty, clean, gapps, no gapps. Guess I'll give this an hour and then try a clean flash.

I cleaned flashed 4/22 and my phone would not boot therefore I flashed 4/21 which is working well for me.

Bluetooth Audio not working using 4/21 build however I know they will get this figured out soon.
Thanks for all the great work thus far!!!

Tried the 4/22 release and phone would not boot up. I got no boot animation, but eventually the Updating apps showed up. Got to the starting apps screen and after 35 minutes, nothing changed.
This was on a dirty flash. So I wiped everything and started from scratch and had the same problems. Back to 4/15 for now for me.
Stock M8 GPE 5.1 LMY47O.H9 ported for the Verizon variant of the M8
Modifications made to this ROM are for Verizon network stability, stock boot.img device tree binary was modified to work on CDMA devices, init.d support, selinux permissive and you should not receive any official OTA notifications.
Its recommended to be on the latest Verizon firmware 4.17.605.9
Install: TWRP is recommended
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Wipe/Factory reset if coming from another ROM
3. Flash ROM
4. Reboot
5. Enjoy, First boot will take 5 to 10 minutes
Special notes:
1. If you were using the partition f2fs, you must switch back to ext4 first.
2. Insert Sim when going through the setup wizard. Just hit skip and continue on with the setup.
3. Unknown phone number will show in settings under Sim Status. You can still make and receive calls and your number automatically populates after first reboot.
4. If you have issues with 3g/LTE data hand off, please call Verizon and have them reset/refresh your SIM or signal whatever they do. Maybe even get a new SIM card.

Hey, thanks for porting this over for us!! I've been saying for a while I want pure stock Android. Well, GPE/Nexus, not, you know, AOSP without Google. I like DH's GPE port, but it's got a ton of tweaks and whatnot. I wonder if I will truly enjoy a pure stock experience.
I will test this tomorrow night. Have you had any problems with GPS? Typically, ROMs that are not Sense have a tendency to lose it.
This ROM won't boot on the verizon htc one m8 with latest firmware. I waited twenty minutes to boot. I felt my phone, and it was hot to the core. I turned the phone off and ran another gpe. However, the other worked seamlessly.
I honestly don't understand why this problem happened with my device.
Thank you for this build. I never got the chance to try full stock.

I haven't had any issues with gps dropping out all all. I travel a lot for my job and have been running the same version as posted for the past 5 days straight.
Check out and let me know if you have any issues

I'm not sure what went wrong. The rom does boot on the Verizon M8. If you check out the screenshots, those are screenshots taken from my phone. The only thing that comes to mind is if you have you have switched to f2fs instead of ext4 which this rom needs. Maybe bad download?!?!? I'm not sure but the rom does boot and run. It does take a while for the rom to boot. It's too early to tell whats going on just yet.

What you mean to say is that it bootloops for you. I'm on Verizon as the screenshots clearly show. It takes at least 10 mins before the spinning circles roll into Android and the phone finshes booting. I'm replying to this post by using the same rom.

Probably be good to point this out in the OP since people using DH's GPE have the ability to use F2FS, albeit his latest release having some issues with it.

Any chance you might need to be supercid as well, haven't tried to boot this yet but thought I might bring it up as I remember a lot of people were having problems trying to boot DH's lollipop when he first released it because of that.

I didn't supercid myself. I changed everything in the build.prop to match Verizon by removing any other cid and replacing it with our own. I haven't done anything special to get this to boot on my end. I have the usual set of characters. S-off unlocked, bootloader, latest firmware, latest TWRP, and root. Nothing else special at all.
This rom has no mods or anything else that would make it prone to any issues as far as booting up and running on our M8's. It's the same rom the Google put out except with everything needed for Verizon.
There may be some people who are using DH's 5.1 firmware as well which might be causing issues. You recommend being on the 5.0.1 firmware for this, right?
I want to check this out!

I'm using his 5.1 firmware also. I was running his rom prior to porting this over with no issues
Just to clarify, bootloops and endless boot are very different animals. A boot loop loads the Android OS and then reboots automatically, usually instantly. (I once had a bootloop, on another device, that gave me about a minute.) Endless boot means it just doesn't boot. If this is anything like DH's GPE, first boot will take 8 minutes and change. Maybe less as it has fewer apps to optimise for. Legit 20 minutes is endless boot. I'd say to give up after 12-15.
I wonder if maybe using another kernel might work? I don't know what all needs to be changed to get an international ROM to work on an American phone, but I'd guess the kernel would be one of them.
Just speculating as I haven't tried it yet.
Sorry for late response.
But in my case, I have the latest fw for the verizon htc one m8.
I was NOT saying it does not boot on "THE" HTC One M8. I was trying to say it didn't boot on MY phone. Sorry for the confusion.
The Rom would not boot, as dragontology said, I have the endless boot. The phone was hot and wasn't responding. The boot animation was working but was on for about twenty to thirty minutes until I stopped it.
I clean flashed the rom. I am not running digital high's 5.1 firmware.
Please, I hope that I did something wrong because I really want to try stock GPE.
Thank you DEV for your hard work.
EDIT: I am also not supercid.

Actually the reported download size exceeds 577mbs. I will try to flash within the next two hours.
Sorry...
Is there any way to get Hotspot working? I have unlimited and need it.
Thanks

I honestly have no idea why the rom isn't booting for you guys other than whats been mentioned. The kernel is the exact same one that came in the original rom. I didn't change it either. Honestly, when testing the rom before porting it, all I did was make the changes in the build.prop for Verizon. It's actually a straight forward port. It was a lot easier than it was coming for older JTC devices that i ported roms for.

Maybe someone who has successfully flashed the rom will chime in. I can't be the only one!!

I just flashed it successfully this afternoon, still setting things up (I've never had to install xposed on 5.1 before, had to figure it out). VZW, DH's 5.1 firmware (came from his Rom), ext4 everything. First boot took about 6 min and I haven't had a problem yet.
My only question so far is does this come with a camera? Maybe I'm blind. If so, does it work with duo effects?

Whew, Glad you got it to work brother. Duo camera? Im not sure. there is a camera app. It's the stock google camera. Should be on the bottom right of the launcher. I'll check on duo camera.
UPDATE: Just took a picture and went to edit it. it had the option of HTC photo edit and photos. I picked HTC photo edit and it had the options for UFocus and Dimension Plus under effects. Hope thats what your looking for.
Alright, sorry I just got back. Yes, the Rom booted perfectly. It is running buttery smooth!!! Sorry man...
I never get good downloads with MEGA. It always looks better but does something weird.
Downloaded the second time with Google Drive. This time the Rom flashed.
Hey undarated, don't worry man. This thing works perfectly!
I posted this in the wrong place before and cant delete it.
Im having issues flashing roms. So far Resurection remix os the only one that worked. Cm13 fails code 7, m.o.a.r. 7.0 fails as aroma is begining to run. Gettin a bit annoyed.
Also, cant find a hotspot fix for og1.
Any thoughts?
Sprint S5 G900p
5.0 stock rom
Og1 build
ive had to re-download MOAR 7.0 a couple of times, i have one copy of it that does the exact same thing (failing when aroma launches) Get a clean download and try it again. Also when going from an AOSP to TW or vice versa, make sure to ALWAYS delete the android folder from both internal and external otherwise youll get TONS of f/c's
Right on.
Any thouggts on why cm13 gives a code 7?
Its the right version for my phone. Code 7 is a failsafe for the wrong phone so it wont install (from what ive read)
Redownloaded moar, checked md5, that was good, same thing no go.
I got hotspot going and i guess stock works well enough. Ill just strip it down and add the goodies that I use alot.
Guess my flashaholicism will have to subside for now.
OG1 might be your issue. Try installing OK4 via Odin, then chainfires root method, then TWRP 3.0.2-2 and go from there, unless youre happy with what you have. It doesnt make any sense for it to fail with a fresh download.
I can try that.
Whats the build order on the s5? I tried updating before root and it stayed at og1.
Stock Official OA6
Stock Official OD3
Stock Official OF6
Stock Official OG1
Stock Official OK4 (5.0)
Stock Official PCA (6.0.1)
copied from here
you can get the OK4 from the link i posted and flash it via Odin. Then youll have to reroot (super easy if you can flash the tar.md5 firmware) and then twrp. 3.0.2-2 is the newest
Thank you. Excellent post.
These are all for sprint, correct?
Cant see links on your link but looked at sammobile and they have pe2 as latest build.
Gonna update and try again.

heres the list from today from sammobile. Those last 2 builds are news to me, and im not at all familiar with them

Thanks!
Im on the road today but will odin this up tomorrow. Hopefully it solves my issue.
Is the s5 like the s3 where we can go up with the basebands but not back?

no. Many people have flashed the pca build then flashed the OK4 and been just fine
Yeah, hotspot fix didnt work on anything beyond ok4, so i went back.
Makes sense. The ok4 baseband has proven itself to still be quite useful

Yeah i see no need to go higher.
ive actually recently installed twrp 3.0.2-2 and the aroma installer on MOAR wont launch for me. It has to be a proclivity of 3.0.2-2. Ive never had this issue with previous builds. I can test this tonight unless you want to test it before i get a chance
Yes please. I can install RR rom (name escapes me, remix something lol), but moar wont go. Same issue, aroma wont start.
resurrection remix. Super popular ROM. pretty awesome too. anyways, it really seems like an aroma issue. ill give 3.0.2-1 a whirl later
It's a 3.0.2-2 issue. 3.0.2-1 launches the aroma installer just fine. It's a quick fix in Odin. Literally seconds to download and not much longer to flash
